Banoffee Pies Records begin their newest venture with a nod to the past. Introducing the latest Re-issue series focusing on old and lost gems. All five tracks originally produced in 1991-1994. Paradise 3001 aka Dr Nunu kicks things off with "Low Sun Archives". A deep dive into a small section of his outstanding back catalog which flaunts many layers of adventurous and floor ready music across Trance, Techno, Ambient, Dub and DownTempo. The release starts with "Several Huge Yellow Snaplike Somethings" - A forgotten beach trance titan with instant teleportation to another time, neatly followed by the mesmerising sunset plod of "Low Sun In Dub" riding slow at 94 bpm. Keeping steady, the B side opens with the heavy drums and spaced pads of "Inner Rhythm (Bio Sensitive Mix)". The second injection of speed comes from the tribal percussion and heavy swirling sounds of "Beautification Bang Bang Bang (Daktari Mix)". The release then falls to a calming close with "Gates Of Eden". Waving you off the shore into the night. For all the moods. Love BPR x

Artist: Len Lewis
Genre: Tech House / Breakbeat / 2 Step
Release: 05/03/21

Tracklist:
A1 Get On It
A2 Darkside
B1 Tik Tok
B2 Projection Deep Dub

Banoffee Pies RecordsBlack Label Series continues with a special solo EP from label favourite Len Lewis who steps up with a selection of 4 previously unreleased productions from the mid 2000's. Already a regular on the infamous UK Tech House Label Swag Records, and a deep back catalogue of trusted DJ gems spanning back to the 90's, we were very excited to welcome him on board the label.

The A side offers two Sub heavy Breakbeat weapons with "Get On It" and a jump into the Sith world with "Darkside". The B side dips back into a 4x4 format with the swirling dance floor rhythm of "Tik Tok" and a playful and laid back house melody in "Projection Deep Dub", a track once approved by and handed to a member of the boy band Blue for a spin on Kiss 100. Make of that what you will to be honest. Much love. BP x

The Limited Series continues with the 9th release on the sub label. Bpls009 presents a 5 track compilation of stripped back and scantily clad drum tracks. 2020 hasn't been the year for clubs so here's something low key. The opening track "Pitch Control" comes from Guava. A subtle composition of percussive tools and well crafted sub bass, further exploring his sound from previous appearances on Holding Hands and Control Freak. Luxe fka DJ Luz, the Manchester based producer and B.L.O.O.M affiliate provides her debut track "Falcon's Rise", a nostalgic remedy with a euphoric vox and scattered jungle drums. Part two opens up to French producer Pipholp, his second appearance on the label, adding another broken beat, IDM inspired jazzy house entry with "Angers". A sense of patience between moods leaving you in limbo. Monotronique also joins with "Beat Himself" on the B2, a no nonsense bass heavy DJ tool for that specific peak occasion. More danger after his debut appearance on the Black Label Series (bpbl03) last year. In a total mood change, the release comes to a meditative close with "Wide Awake" from Padre Oe. A collaboration between Pete Lazonby, an artist with a long history most known for his chart heading solo production "Sacred Cycles" on Brainiak Records in the 90's, and Otto Fischer, a Nigerian free-improvising singer, lyricist and guitarist best known for his guitar work with the Alexander Hawkins Ensemble. The track also features Henry Lowther on trumpet, widely recognized as one the UK's best, and the strongest contributor to Talk Talk's Spirit of Eden with dozens of top of the pops appearances with a spanning list of important and renowned bands appearing at Ronnie Scott's to Woodstock. The mood is Blue. One Love. BP x

Release: March 2021

Tracklist:
A1 Slow Stumble Home
A2 Return From Home
B1 Falling Off
B2 Single Cell

Banoffee Pies Records 16th Original Series release comes via a 4 track Split EP collaboration between Kincaid, and Zenzizenz, the ambient moniker of techno producer Viers. After a long year behind us, and likely ahead, this record takes a temporary step into the calm and adds reflection to the blurred months that passed.
The release is a collection of textural bumps and melodies opening with Kincaid's 9 minute "Slow Stumble Home" - an aptly titled down tempo trip through a confused space, layered with composition, like a Playstation home screen theme on Mushrooms. Calm follows with two tracks from Zenzizenz - "Returning From Home", a steady meditation through rumbling sounds soon shift to a new mood on the B side. "Falling Off" offers a more lethargic wandering mood through the marshland before Bp016 comes to it's close with "Single Cell", the 2nd Kincaid track, which concludes with a chaptered 4x4 structure and slow bursts of energy within. Time to absorb. Love BP x

B1 Mariiin - Elif
B2 N.GYNN - Yazdah

Banoffee Pies Records Black Label Series continues with the next Various Artist compilation - 4 low slung mood tracks for early AM riding the lines between Tech-House and 2 Step.

Monika Ross opens the selection with "Cut Strategy" on the A1, a dark winter spookyness set around 2 step glitches and delay. Tom Frankel takes over on the A2 with an ode to Green via "Terp Flavours". UKG inspired micro house - lockdown business. On the flip Mariiin drops her debut release entitled "Elif" on the B1 - a head down mover setting the tone for her future sound. The release then comes to a classy finish with deep mesmerizing rhythmic melodies on N-gynn's "Yazdah" which fades away through another swinging vocal hook. Black Label Minimal. Much love. BP x

Release:2020 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Banoffee Pies Records continue their original series via a solo EP from Nikki Nair of Knoxville, Tennessee with "Number One Slugger". A white label 12" showcasing the diversity of Nikkis bass infused productions across a range of tempos, opening with the drum heavy DJ tool "Super" with jungle swing and a vocal hook to partner. The A2 sees the appearance of the "Slug" in a siren blaring bass rhythm strictly for dance floor usage pumped with electro distortions.
The B side introduces a more mellow mood following in similar ilk to his latest Morphism release on Gobstopper Records last year which initially caught our ear. The B1 sees "Salt" drop the tempo to 120bpm for a more intricately arranged array of swirling hi hats and toms and a flowing dub infused vox. The B2 flaunts an array of pulsating basslines and ASMR whispers with "Fidelity" in the more spooky insert of the bunch before the release comes to a close with "Stotch" on the B3. A track perfect for any closing or opening set, heavily tripped with ethereal notes and subtle percussion, a conclusive ending to this 5 track EP. Best consumed late. Much love BP x

For the second Re-Issue Series release we team up with London duo Euphonic for a deep dive into their back catalogue set across two releases featuring a number of artists who they collaborated with after the projects inception in 1997.
The group, consisting of lead producer Rob Henry and former Graffiti artist turned DJ Nick Trimm, fuse intricate programming and bass lines with traditional jazz/blues instrumentation and vocals to produce a diverse and varied selection of aural pleasures.
A chance encounter at the Blue Note club in Hoxton lead the pair to travel to New York to record with friends from the Brooklyn Hip Hop underground, including dr. Israel, Soothsayer, and Kirsty Rock, where both versions of "Jah Science" and "Revolution-Solution" were recorded.
These tracks were originally released on the Different Drummer label in 1998 and have long been unavailable...until now! Here's a taster of what's to come. Eyes peeled for part two.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Banoffee Pies Records 15th Original Series release comes from Cassius Select. Canadian born producer Lavurn Lee, now residing in his home city of Hong Kong, drops his latest solo EP "Heavyweight". His unique style and selective output has drawn our attention for some time. This release does exactly what it says on the tin. With previous appearances on the likes of Matthew Herbert's Accidental JNR., Hypercolour and more, he has maintained a primary focus on rhythmic structures, alienated textures and eerie vocalisations that flaunt a strong influence and appreciation for UK techno, Hip Hop, Garage, and all things Broken Beat. The release kicks off with "Born To Defence", a mood setter scattered with punchy drum rolls and wild toms that set the tone for a harmonic palette across the 4 tracks. The A2 "Honda Civic" displays a tougher edge using a hybrid of sound. Pulsing late night business - Hatchback style. "Sicko Groove" gets the B side off the ground with a chest rattling, Grime inspired club track, sliding further up the weight divisions before things close off with "Guia Circuit", a more techy low end tool with notable energy shifts. Bp015 sustains stripped back but relentless percussion throughout. "The Original Circuit Training Soundtrack". Love BP x

Still transmitting from Lockdown in the UK. Banoffee Pies Records 14th release in the original series comes from London based Angel D'lite. A deep passion for rave and NRG with an established high-octane approach to music, heavily influenced by hardcore and early pop bangers, her debut EP further reflecting this mood. Three heavy club tracks and a broken beat dubbed remix from JAY to round things off.

Banoffee Pies Records drop their 12th release in the original series with a solo EP from New York based Tristan Arp. With a string of intricate music on the likes of Human Pitch and a recent LP entitled "Suggested Forms", which offers a wider exploration into his work, Tristan's passion for sound design echoes in this record.
All four tracks offer an environment somewhere between a feeling and a dancefloor with obscure influences in polyrhythmic drum patterns and a clear combination of digital and analogue processing. "Swept Thru" opens proceedings with a spiral of rhythms and heavy percussion leaping in energy throughout, before the spooked out Vox takes control on "Oblique House" with deeper movements in a haunted club tune. The B side opens with the title track "Slip" in a powerful whirlwind arrangement of sub bending sounds before the final colour is added to the palette in "Circling Music'' with emotive jingles in a more retained and patient mood.
You can hear Tristan's other work within the Asa Tone project - a trio group well worth the trip, offering a deep variety of works exploring field recordings taken and formulated in Indonesia beneath a tree canopy deep in the jungle. This same energy and mood spills into this release. Music for feeling. Much love BP x

Plush Managements Inc., Voin Oruwu, Hartta, Keppel. Banoffee Pies Records ninth edition to their original series lands on BP009 featuring Vancouver duo Plush Managements Inc. aka D. Tiffany, rising producer and label manager at the wonderful Planet Euphorique, and Regularfantasy of Total Stasis, with their sub heavy trance state track with rolling hi hats "Plush Egg” on the A1. The A2 comes from Kiev born techno artist Voin Oruwu who joins with futuristic break beat drum rhythms and swirling vocal hook on “After All". The B side takes a darker turn with raw and clean dance floor garage from another Bristol local, Hartta on “Trust Issues”. The B2 ends with experimentation from the classically trained UK musician Keppel, with game like soundscapes in “Atari”s accelerating cinematic instrumentation. Music for the floor.

Black Label Series 03 on Banoffee Pies Records welcomes new additions to the fold with another low slung collection of minimal house and breaks. Opening with patient mystery the label debut from Monotronique delivers 118 bpm sample heavy “Baggage With A Secret”. Nicely warmed, the A2 turns for the floor with Freerotation resident Tom Ellis in control on “Third Morning”, a groovy roller with glitched vocal loops. The curveball of this release comes on the B1 with a garage inspired high tempo d&b track, “23 Ghettobee” from Filip Szostak - One to cool or shake the dance. The B2 invites Lyssna Records own Flord King with another micro gem for the head bopping late nights on “Shanti”. Together the four tracks investigating different moods with a similar style.

Sent from a nearby star system, from one world to ours. Wondering the streets with misguided importance. How du is new to our planet, but does not yet know why he is here, only that he must heal himself and all those he meets in order to find his home. An inherent feeling that he has arrived to protect and serve others from the deepest patterns of evil overwhelms him. Evil that spreads through the mind in conscious frequencies of the brain. Areas we call the Shadow Realms of oneself. Unable to communicate in the correct language his correspondence with Earth people can only be transmitted through sound and melody. Music is his language and his tool. This is the Landing.

Banoffee Pies Records return to their original white label imprint for another limited EP with BP003. TIP. Again the Bristol label continue to compile artists and styles from all over following there no f***s given approach.

The one sided A1 heavily samples a drum solo from the blockbuster film of 2015 Whiplash, a strung out track filled with space and delicate percussion. Jaffa Surfas B1 provides a mid way techno break pumped with analog sounds and a swirling kick throughout. To end, the finely unearthed and re-issued B2 edit closes this diverse release with a bang offering something completely different. Rolling jazz feelings for the dance floor. More love for the Banoffee people.

It's always unwise to judge a label that's still taking its' first steps, but Banoffee Pies has barely put a foot wrong since launching a couple of years back. Here, the Bristol-based imprint continues with its' successful split release formula, gathering together a quartet of tracks from up-and-coming producers. Beaner kicks things off with the bumpin', low-slung deep house grooves and delay-laden guitar samples of "It Takes Two", before Philou Louzolo raises the temperature with the looped horn samples and thumping beats of "Alter Ego". Flip for the dreamy Balearic house goodness of Ron Wilson's "Albino Turtle", and the bongo-laden, after-party deep house shuffle of Mome's "Assatta".
