Genre:Rock / Indie
The most oustanding DDR / East Germany / GDR progressive Rock, Soul, Jazz, Funk masterpiece-album, from the early 70´s era........some couldn´t imagine, that this lost material is really existing.

The 1st album of Panta Rhei, that has been released on Amiga Records in the GDR communist era and has been re-released on ACME Records in 2012, has already reached a cult-status between music-lovers worldwide, because of it´s very own progressive tone. The more surprising it is, that these recordings were sleeping for nearly 45 years, hidden from the day of light.
This album shows the high quality musical level of the East German & especially of the East-Berlin music-scenery, and the understanding and knowledge to be able to fuse rock, jazz, soul and funk music in it´s very own, playful, progressive & psychedlic way, with very deep & longing vocals, that you as the listener feel touched and affected in your soul.

This wonderful Album of the supergroup PANTA RHEI on Black Pearl Records reflects an conglomerate of the musical works that the band recorded between 1972-1974. Among those tunes like "Prometheus" and "Hört", which where high up at the radio charts at DT64, are two very outstanding & jazzy student music composition-works for the university called "Amygelius" & "Shigu".

In the early 70´s former East-German music-scene, every band was trying to get radio-plays to promote their music and become more famous - especially when you were one of the these more progressive jazzrock combos - but only a very few of these very talented music-groups were invited to the recording-studios of the GDR radio stations.

But PANTA RHEI became already then quite famous because of numerous live-gigs and quite a big bunch of fans, that even lyricist-writers like Jens Gerlach & Joachim Krause were interested to cooperate and to work with the band. This cooperation was very important next to the band´s instrumental work, to express their musical output in a much more sophisticated way, followed by more airplays and the offer by the state label Amiga to release an LP album, to be recorded in the famous "Studio B" in Berlin´s Brunnenstrasse 154. But sadly most of these recorded tunes got no space at the vinyl publishing stage in those days, except of some 7inches-releases from the DT64 youth radio itself.
After this disappointment the band got smaller, when Vroni Fischer & some brass-members left the band in early ´74, and it was a noticeable and other spirit amongst the group.
As the last recordings of Panta Rhei in 1974 found no appeal by the musical directors of the record company and the Amiga editors decided not to feature this progressive rockjazz music any longer on the socialistic music culture, the band decided to disband.
Shortly after that, some members decided to form a new group with a completly new sound and concept. The proposal of the early member Uli Pexa pushed through and another very famous east german band saw the light of the world, KARAT.

The Black Pearl is more than proud to present this forgotten musical pearl to the progressive Jazz, Soul, Funk community & music lovers worldwide !

Black Pearl Records is very proud to present a real 80´s futuristic proto club banger from the STRÖER Brothers, with lots of clubby remixes by buddies & friends. The original track "Night Falls" was only released on a very limited hand-spread promo 12inch, which was especially pressed for the Kunstdisko art-project for the 24th Olympic games in 1988 in Seoul / South-Korea. Together with the Goethe Institut, they created the "Kunstdisco" project for germany, which was located at the Yoido Ankara Square and took part for the german Seoul Olympic Art Festival. The Ströer Brothers, who were responsible for the video & music sector, invided and encouraged 25 young german composers and producers (among of them was the young DJ West Bam) to produce new music
for the Kunstdisco between Rap and new electronic club music from the end of the 80´s. The Ströer Brothers, together with Howard Fine & Nadeen Holloway, were introduced by many DJs who played their music, that they espacially created for this event. Next to the in-house project Mudegg, the single audio tracks of "Night Falls" were givin to musical buddies like First Touch, Enzo Elia, DJ Rocca, Siggatunes and Manelet to remix them and Black Pearl is more than proud to present a great variety of remixes, styles and visons on the original track.

The Black Pearl-team is very proud to present the 3rd release in our 7inch Jazz vinyl-collector series from GDR / East Germany, with 4 never before released early 70´s jazz masterpieces of modern soul jazz, played by the East German Broadcast Big Band arround Günter "Guy" Gollasch.

"Luten" Petrowsky was a number-one-choice saxophon session musician, which played with many formations like Eberhard Weise, Saxophon All-Stars, Modern Soul Septett, Gruppe SOK, Klaus Lenz, Praque Europe Brass Selection, Manfred Krug's Modern Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble Studio 4 and many more!

After leaving the very famous Manfred Ludwig Sextett-Formation in 1970, GDR star saxophonist Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky replaces Friedhelm Schönfeld as the first sax-member in the professional East Berlin Radio Orchester. This very special "Luden" sax-sound and his melodies in solistic parts, inspiriered H. Kretschzmer to write an outstanding jazz-composition dedicated to him, simply called "Luten". An perfect opener for our dedication to this jazz giant and milestone in the East German Jazz and Beat scenery.
Furthermore we chose for this Mini Jazz EP two other masterpices by David Axelrod and H. Barum, re-arranged in a beautiful 70s jazz-vibe by the high talented arranger & composer of the Leipzig Big Band and informer member of the Eberhard Weise Orchestra, Henry Walther.
The 4th track is a wonderful deep and groovy arrangement by the polish star composer and vibraphonist Jerzy Milian, which had a lot of guest playings & recording sessions at the East-Berlin broadcast-studios & "Jazz at the chamber" in those days.

These already very good sounding recordings -because of radio-master-engineer Kurt Agt behind the mixing-desk and mastering works at the Black Pearl´s audio-studios Audiomoto & Faible Tonstudio - made it easy to create an outstanding sound pearl to the jazz connoisseurs´ ear.

First vinyl release ever of these two songs, quality sound pressing, with mastered audio material from original master tape. Comes in a wonderful, authentic and special old-fashioned thick cardboard cover with vintage haptics. The Black Pearl team is very proud to present the 2nd release in our 7inch Jazz series from GDR / East Germany, with two never before released jazz masterpeices of modern jazz. The Saxophon Sextett with Friedhelm Schönfeld, as the band leader, delivers two oustanding modern jazz tunes from the end of the 60s. The A-side with "Acht Plus Zehn" features a wonderful modern bop jazz tune with a melancholic main theme. The B-side with "Elbnebel" is a beautiful melodramatic deep cinematic jazz composition. Friedhelm Schönfeld is one of the most known progressive Jazz musician & composer of the former East-Germany era, who is still active untill today. Since 1960 he was one of the permanent members of the Broadcast Jazz Big Band of Berlin. He founded and played in the Saxophon Sextett in the mid 60s and not much later in the early 70s with his own Trio, together with Klaus Koch and Günter "Baby" Sommer.

An unbelievable musical artifact from the 60s GDR Jazz-scene, that was sleeping in shelfs for years.
