GA-20 was formed by friends Pat Faherty and Matthew Stubbs in Boston, MA in 2018. The project was born out of their mutual love of heavy traditional Blues, R&B, and Rock & Roll of the late 50s and early 60s. Faherty and Stubbs bonded over legendary artists like Lazy Lester, J.B. Lenoir, Earl Hooker, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Junior Wells. Feeling a void in current music, the duo have set out to write, record and perform a modern version of this beloved art form. Live, GA-20 is a trio of 2 guitars, vocals and drums. Raw, passionate and honest performance, both on stage and in the studio, is the only goal. "Lonely Soul", the title track to their debut album embodies their sound: raw, cutting, and authentic.

Songwriter. Guitarist. Singer. Bandleader. At only 20 years of age, Marcus King’s dazzling musical ability is evident throughout The Marcus King Band, the young phenom’s 2nd full-length LP. Raised in Greenville, South Carolina, King was brought up on the blues, playing shows as a pre-teen sideman with his father—bluesman Marvin King, who himself was the son of a regionally-known guitarist—before striking out on his own. Operating within the fiery brand of American roots music that King calls "soul-influenced psychedelic southern rock," the album highlights King’s gorgeous, rough-hewn vocals, soaring guitar work and heartfelt songwriting all amidst a group of masterful musicians who, together, are quickly becoming one of the country’s most sought after live acts.

Born Booker T. Washington White, Bukka’s trajectory as a blues performer follows a familiar template for his
time. Born in Mississippi, maybe in Houston, MS – maybe in Aberdeen, MS – maybe in 1902, maybe in 1909
or even 1906 he recorded throughout the 1930s. Bukka even recorded while incarcerated in the Mississippi
State Penitentiary aka Parchman Farm. Asked about his time at Parchman White commented “Well, I mostly
played guitar.”
During the 1940s and 50s as Blues moved from the Delta to Chicago, from rural to urban, Bukka’s career went
dormant. And then, like many of his time, his talent was “rediscovered” in the early 60s, in no small part thanks
to a brilliant guitarist in his own right, John Fahey. Performances and all new recordings happened throughout
the 60s, building interest in Bukka White’s Delta roots. This compilation of White’s best early material was first
issued in 1969 (1970 in the US), collecting Bukka’s 78s recorded for Vocalion and Okeh. His influence on rock
performers of that day cannot be understated. He opened for rock bands he’d inspired at venues like The
Fillmore, played his instrument in such a fashion that some said it’s like he was trying to destroy that guitar, his
most famous guitar, a 1933 National Duolian, was even known as “Hard Rock.” And then there’s the fact that
his song “Shake‘em On Down” was so influential on Led Zeppelin that they, “borrowed” from the song for both
“Hats Off To Roy Harper” and “Custard Pie.”
Bukka White was many things, a strong influence on his cousin B.B. King, a cotton picker, a mule driver, a hobo,
a player in the old Negro Leagues, a boxer, a preacher, a convict, a factory laborer and, as celebrated here,
one of America’s blues pioneers.

Following stints with Modern and Chess, legendary blues man John Lee Hooker joined forces with the esteemed Vee-Jay label out of Chicago in 1955. For the next 7 years Hooker cut some of the most explosive and legendary blues sides of his career and solidified his position as one of the greatest performers of the electric blues era. By the 1960s the folk and blues revival would make international stars of many blues performers but at the time of these Vee-Jay recordings this was music made by African-Americans mostly for the African-American market, from Chicago to the South to Los Angeles and New York and points between, and Vee-Jay was one of the first and most successful African-American owned record labels. While many of his earlier sides featured only Hooker on guitar and vocals, his Vee-Jay sides feature a full rocking rhythm section. Essential sides from one of the all-time greatest American performers of the 20th century. This first volume spans the years 1955-1958, and includes the titular “Mambo Chillun” a play on his classic hit, “Boogie Chillun”, as well as 16 more great late 50s blues sides.

Mississippi's Son House was already legendary for a small collection of live field recordings made by folklorist Alan Lomax in 1941 and 1942, and for having taught some important licks to both Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters before he was rediscovered by a new generation of college-age fans in 1964.
The 'Father of the Delta Blues' recorded this namesake LP for Columbia Records a year later in 1965. It's become, in the words of Living Blues magazine — »Essential recordings by one of the greatest bluesmen ever.« And now, Analogue Productions presents a reissue unmatched in sonic quality and luxury presentation. For our version we turned to Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound to remaster the recording from the original master tapes. The freshly cut lacquers were then plated and pressed on 200-gram vinyl by our own Quality Record Pressings.
Son was born Eddie James House, Jr., on March 21, 1902, in Riverton, Miss. By the age of 15, he was preaching the gospel in various Baptist churches as the family seemingly wandered from one plantation to the next. He didn't even bother picking up a guitar until he turned 25; to quote House, »I didn't like no guitar when I first heard it; oh gee, I couldn't stand a guy playin' a guitar. I didn't like none of it.« But if his ambivalence to the instrument was obvious, even more obvious was the simple fact that Son hated plantation labor even more and had developed a taste for corn whiskey. After drunkenly launching into a blues at a house frolic in Lyon, Miss., one night and picking up some coin for doing it, the die seemed to be cast; Son House may have been a preacher, but he was part of the blues world now.

There are a handful of landmark albums in any genre. In the blues, one of them is Muddy Waters' "Folk Singer". Originally released in 1964, "Folk Singer" was the only acoustic album Waters ever recorded, thus becoming the first and perhaps best blues concept album ever. Muddy of course started out playing acoustic blues in the Delta, and he's clearly very comfortable in this return to his roots, which was designed to appeal to the mid-1960s surge of interest in folk music.
Muddy's supporting cast includes a very young Buddy Guy on guitar, Willie Dixon at the upright bass and Clifton James on drums.
This recording has enormous presence with ample room for Muddy's booming voice to resonate.

Speed, Glue & Shinki's last album has been reissued in a gorgeous specification that faithfully reproduces the original, including the entire volume band! Released in 1972. It is a two-disc set that became the last album. Famous for its tiger jacket. There are a lot of songs that seem to be centered on Joey Smith now, but Bluesy Rock is fully opened like the previous work. Although some lyrical songs can be seen, the D-side medley makes heavy use of the precious Moog synthesizer at the time. Guests include Michael Hanopol, Shigeki Watanabe, Hiroshi Oguchi. The 96khz24bit sound source mastered in 2017 is used for this analog conversion. The jacket is a single jacket × 2, a full-length band, a lyrics card, etc. The original is reproduced as much as possible.

As part of their 20th Anniversary celebrations, Strut present the first new volume in their pioneering ‘Nigeria 70’ series for over 8 years, bringing together rare highlife, Afro-funk and juju from the ‘70s and early ‘80s. Compiled by collector and DJ Duncan Brooker, this new selection of tracks is receiving its first international release outside of Nigeria.

The compilation returns to a fertile heyday in Nigerian music when established styles like highlife and juju became infused with elements of Western jazz, soul and funk and musicians brought a proud new message post-independence. Brooker places the spotlight particularly on some of the incredible Ukwuani musicians from the Delta State region as guitarist Rogana Ottah and Steady Arobby’s International Brothers Band forged their own fluid brand of highlife and soulman Don Bruce drew on the US R&B greats for a series of great albums and explosive stage shows at his residency at Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

Elsewhere, the album explores the close connection between Nigeria and Benin’s music, most famously through Sir Victor Uwaifo, appearing here with a killer mid‘80s ekassa jam, as well as highlife hitmaker Osayamore Joseph on ‘Obonogbozu’ (Joseph made headlines in Nigeria for very different reasons in 2017, surviving a one month kidnapping ordeal).

Other tracks include ‘Sickness’ a 1979 lament on how all countries share troubles by Prince Nico Mbarga, the Nigerian / Camerounian star behind the smash hit ‘Sweet Mother’; reggae singer Felixson Ngasia switches to funk and disco for a heavy workout with potent lyrics around black identity; another major highlife great Etubom Rex Williams unleashes a punchy psych funk gem with ‘Psychedelic Shoes’ and Africa 70 member Pax Nicholas vocals a simmering Afrobeat groove from Jacob Lee’s Saxon Lee & The Shadows International Band.

Though her late career was marred by addiction and personal issues, and her chipper voice had grown raspy and hardened by the years and the pain, Lady Sings The Blues has come to be regarded as one of the finest albums of her career, despite a lack of critical enthusiasm at the time. Originally released in 1956, concurrently with her autobiography, Holiday was joined for these sessions by tenor saxophonist Paul Quinichette, trumpeters Charlie Shavers and Harry Edison, pianist Wynton Kelly, and guitarists Kenny Burrell and Barney Kessel. Mastered from the Original Master Tapes and Pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl: Texas Flood UD1S 180g 45RPM 2LP Box Set Is the Ultimate Version of Stevie Ray Vaughan's 1983 Debut. Lavish Packaging Includes Opulent Box, Foil-Stamped Jackets, and MoFi SuperVinyl LPs: Deluxe Audiophile Pressing Strictly Limited to 7,000 Numbered Copies. The Mesmerizing Arrival of a Guitar God: Texas Flood Features White-Hot Passion, Sparks-Flying Blues, and the Uptempo Hits "Pride and Joy" and "Love Struck Baby". Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's Texas Flood announces the arrival of a truly special talent – namely, the last major blues guitarist to emerge with a voice all his own, an immediately distinctive style, and a soulfulness you feel inside the depths of your existence. Not for nothing is Vaughan frequently mentioned in the same breath as his closest musical cousin, Jimi Hendrix, and ranked the 12th Greatest Guitarist in history by Rolling Stone. This 1983 debut started it all. Strictly limited to 7,000 numbered copies and pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl at RTI, Mobile Fidelity's ultra-hi-fi UltraDisc One-Step collector's edition 180g 45RPM 2LP box set brings Vaughan and Co. into your listening room and places them at your feet. You'll enjoy deep-black backgrounds, pointillist details, staggering dynamics, and arguably, the most lifelike tonalities and nuances ever committed to vinyl. Experienced via UD1S, Vaughan's scrunched-up face, closed-eyes appearance, quick-draw fingers, and cowboy hat into pristine focus. More importantly, the searing tones from his Fender Stratocaster and every touch of his pick on the strings are captured with extreme delicacy. You won't miss a note. The soundstage is deep and wide, and the microdynamics pop. This is the closest you will ever come to hearing Vaughan perform in Antone's, circa 1982.

The lavish packaging and beautiful presentation of Mobile Fidelity's Texas Flood UD1S pressing befit its extremely select status. Housed in a deluxe box, this UD1S version contains special foil-stamped jackets and faithful-to-the-original graphics that illuminate the splendor of the recording. No expense has been spared. Aurally and visually, this reissue exists a curatorial artifact meant to be preserved, poured over, touched, and examined. It is made for discerning listeners that prize sound quality and creativity, and who desire to fully immerse themselves in the art – and everything involved with the album, from the images to the textures.

Born of hot, sweaty bars and years of woodshedding in front of demanding crowds, Texas Flood is rooted in Austin's rich musical heritage – as well as Vaughan's tenure in Paul Ray & the Cobras, recipient of the "Best Band" award in the city's first-ever music poll. After getting his feet underneath him, Vaughan formed Triple Threat, the ensemble that morphed into Double Trouble, with which he'd perform with for the remainder of his career. Having evolved from a quintet to a trio, extra demands were placed on Vaughan's role and playing – requirements he was more than comfortable to accommodate. The evidence is scattered throughout Texas Flood, which single-handedly resuscitated a long-dormant genre. Spending more than half a year on the Billboard charts, the record pays homage to influences (Hendrix, Albert King, Larry Davis) and ripples with a freshness that joins contemporary Texas blues and muscular rock at the hip. Vaughan's playing prizes emotion and pace, whether he's lighting it up on the jumpy "Love Struck Baby" or bursting with enthusiasm on the sparks-shooting "Pride and Joy." The trio proves equally mesmerizing on slow numbers, with covers of Howlin' Wolf's "Tell Me" and Davis' "Texas Flood" weeping with longing. And as if to insure his name is etched in history, Vaughan takes a jazzy stroll with the instrumental tribute "Lenny," covering all the bases in less than 40 minutes. On par with anything recorded by Eric Clapton, Paul Butterfield, John Mayall, Johnny Winter, and the like, Texas Flood remains legion.

More About Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step and Why It Is Superior

Instead of utilizing the industry-standard three-step lacquer process, Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's new UltraDisc One-Step (UD1S) uses only one step, bypassing two processes of generational loss. While three-step processing is designed for optimum yield and efficiency, UD1S is created for the ultimate in sound quality. Just as Mobile Fidelity pioneered the UHQR (Ultra High-Quality Record) with JVC in the 1980s, UD1S again represents another state-of-the-art advance in the record-manufacturing process. MFSL engineers begin with the original master tapes and meticulously cut a set of lacquers. These lacquers are used to create a very fragile, pristine UD1S stamper called a "convert." Delicate "converts" are then formed into the actual record stampers, producing a final product that literally and figuratively brings you closer to the music. By skipping the additional steps of pulling another positive and an additional negative, as done in the three-step process used in standard pressings, UD1S produces a final LP with the lowest noise floor possible today. The removal of the additional two steps of generational loss in the plating process reveals tremendous amounts of extra musical detail and dynamics, which are otherwise lost due to the standard copying process. The exclusive nature of these very limited pressings guarantees that every UD1S pressing serves as an immaculate replica of the lacquer sourced directly from the original master tape. Every conceivable aspect of vinyl production is optimized to produce the most perfect record album available today.

MoFi SuperVinyl: The World’s Quietest Surfaces and Cleanest Grooves

MoFi SuperVinyl is a new proprietary compound developed by NEOTECH and RTI to address two specific areas of improvement: noise floor reduction and enhanced groove definition. The vinyl composition features a new carbonless dye (hold the disc up to the light and see) and produces the world’s quietest surfaces. This high-definition formula also allows for the creation of cleaner grooves that are indistinguishable from the original lacquer. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab feels MoFi SuperVinyl provides the closest approximation of what we hear in the mastering lab.

Though the legendary blues musician Robert Johnson was only known to have recorded twice in his brief lifetime, in 1936 and 1937 in Texas, his output in those two brief days so long ago was both endlessly influential and surprisingly prolific. Beyond the classic sides that were released on 78 rpm at the time, there were numerous unreleased outtakes and alternate recordings that went uncovered for decades after their recording. Collected here are 12 alternate takes including essentials like "Crossroad Blues", Drunken Hearted Man", "Ramblin' On My Mind", and more. Essential and rare Robert Johnson sides back in print on Wax Love.

As a continuing collaboration with Chess Records/Universal Records and the estate of Muddy Waters, Third Man Records is proud to announce the reissue of Muddy Waters' fifth studio album Electric Mud.

Electric Mud, which Chess originally released in 1968 has not seen a legitimate domestic vinyl release since 2002, despite its enormous influence on generations of blues rockers. It features members of Rotary Connection as Muddy's backing band and was very controversial upon its release for its fusion of electric blues with psychedelic elements. The album is now recognized as a forward-thinking classic, sampled extensively by artists like The Black Keys and Gorillaz.

A collection of the finest moments of the only two known recording sessions by the King of Delta Blues, Robert Johnson. A man whose poorly documented life and death at 27 have given rise to much legend in the last 30 years, Johnson had little or none public recognition for his work in his lifetime. Rumored to have sold his soul at the crossroads to achieve success, Robert Johnson lived his whole life playing at street corners and Saturday night dances, writing the soundtrack for half a century of rock culture to come. Featuring all-time classics such as “I believe I’ll Dust My Broom” or “Kind Hearted Woman Blues”, this is mandatory for all early folk and blues aficionados!

Sonor Music Editions is thrilled to release another terrific jam and a very obscure Italian Library record originally released in 1969 on RRC label (Droga, Traffico, Viaggio Attraverso I Problemi Dell'Uomo series etc.). Music is signed by the great guitar players and composers Angelo Baroncini and Bruno Battisti D'Amario, unmissable guitar man of Maestro Ennio Morricone. CRAZY early Fuzz beats with fast Western swings, Experimental Rock distractions, musical rhythmic movements with totally insane acid guitar & sitar riffs and a huge Underground Psychedelic mood. A truly inspired and deep session recorded for some impossible TV synchronisation purpose. Holy grail alert and original sleazy STEREO recording restored sound.

This is the reissue of the second album by Johnny Guitar Watson originally released on Chess in 1963. Johnny was already a well praised musician in the field of jazz, rhythm & blues and a popular sidekick for early rock'n'roll heroes such as Little Richard when he recorded this beautiful album. Despite the title of the album it mostly contains a swinging and accessible vocal jazz with an irresistible groove and instrumental passages. Johnny Guitar Watson does not even play guitar on this record but gets ballistic on the piano and lays down some striking vocals with his distinctive voice. The overall pace is relaxed and so is the music that has a bit of a retro feeling already being steadily rooted in the 40s and 50s swing and vocal jazz but Johnny Guitar Watson and his mates on drums and bass really pull it off with a fresh and exciting edge. A steaming song like “I'll remember April” might be an exception. But this is an instrumental with furious piano lines and a nearly Latin beat that recalls a bossa nova dance tune just played in a more hot blooded style. The overall performance is top notch and so is the clear and sappy sound. Even a creamy ballad like “Polka dots and moonbeams” has its relevance in the entire musical picture. These two songs may show the edges of his style for “The blues soul of...”. They present an inspired bandleader and musician anyway. No wonder he reinvented his own style a decade later when funk and soul started to dominate the black music scene. Still the music sounds and feels like the cover of the album shows it. Here you can see a very well dressed and styled young man playing chess alone in front of the fireplace. And the album really turns this picture into music. Well executed, well produced, perfectly styled but still spirited and passionate. Mr. Watson managed to live in both parallel worlds. The mansions and the backstreets echo his melodies. He was a visionary at each stage of his career. If you love the outstanding 1950s and 1960s vocal jazz, this will be the thing for you!

Screamin' Jay has developed a rhythm that can be described
as demonic, of which 'I Put A Spell On You' and 'Hong Kong' are good examples. Behind his fiery vocals there is the force of attack and the power of an authentic champion of the boxing ring (he first made a name for himself as a talented boxer). “The Howlin' Wolf Album” is a 1969 album by Howlin' Wolf, with Rotary Connection as his backing band. It mixed blues with psychedelic rock arrangements on several of Howlin' Wolf's classic songs. Howlin' Wolf strongly disliked the album, and Chess Records referenced this fact on the album's cover. Nevertheless it’s a classic now!
