We’ve been waiting for astral travelers White Manna to return from last year’s Come Down Safari. And apparently White Manna has oriented their vessel of noise back to Earth, because their new album Pan (named after the Greek god of nature) is here. On this new album, White Manna paints landscapes with their sound. Pan ebbs and flows like the Pacific tides, leaning heavily on Stooges-esque Raw Power, then expanding the atmosphere in the manner of Hawkwind’s Silver Machine. The Pan tracks have been perfected through live performance during the band’s recent European tours, including high-profile gigs such as Liverpool Psych Fest. The album recording was dialed in at the Compound Manila and laid to tape at Lucky Cat Recording by Phil Manley. The psychedelic mazes on the cover art are brought to you by the amazing, Ap Shrewsbury.

Onyou have been stirring around the Chicago scene for a multitude of years now. The band has spent hundreds of hours laboring away in their underground layer perfecting their noxious brew. During that time they have appeared on the surface briefly to litmus test the toxicity through heavily dosed live performances. Seemly as rare as a hen’s tooth, those lucky enough to experience onYou first hand, walk away shrouded in sweat and subsequently drippy nightmares. These boy’s don’t mess around, they stoke the flames of some seriously fucked up psychosis and hypnogogia. Having dropped six releases for Captcha Records, Ultimum Photon A Sole is the card they’ve held close to their chest for the last year, perfecting it week after week. The result is a very heady ethereal and tribal record that veers to the darkside with mantric vocals, heavy guitar shredding and dual drumming. Skillfully traversing a massive ascent to the peak of the aside, summiting this album features onYou at the top of their game. Heads will tremble when this batch of psych gets mainlined. Freaks jonesing for bands like Les Rallizes Dénudés and CAN will find close company in onYou. Limited edition of 500 copies on electric blue / cyan split vinyl.

Announcing Lorelle Meets The Obsolete's new album Chambers: some serious psyched-haze, shuffle and boogie by the dynamic duo from Ensenada, Mexico. The album is called Chambers because, while they recorded it, they felt like they were in various enclosed places far from home and everything else. "Most of the songs came out of jams, while the tunes on the first two albums were structured either by LORENA or me," explains The Obsolete, aka Alberto Gonzalez. "It's really a straightforward record. To me it doesn't sound as hazy as the first two and, as it's the first time we worked with someone else behind the board, it's Cooper Crain's interpretation of Lorelle Meets the Obsolete. Then Sonic Boom cranked the volume up!" He's right. The result is a surprising direct record which, despite locking into a pulsating krautrock groove on "Whats Holding You?" or getting lost in a fog of white noise on "Music for Dozens," always retains a very human heart and soul. There is diversity too--from the slide guitar and driving bass on the out of control rave up that is "Sealed Scene" to the narco-blues of "Dead Leaves" and the folky, melanocholy "Greiving." This is the band's third long-player following up 2013's critically acclaimed LP Corruptible Faces and 2011's debut On Welfare.

2011 unleashed a hidden gem in the form of LORELLE MEETS THE OBSOLETE's On Welfare. Maybe its that people couldn't wrap their heads around the name but the record went sadly unsung into the ether, though it spent a lot of time on the RSTB speakers that year. Hopefully Guadalajara's finest don't suffer the same fates and fools on their follow-up, Corruptible Faces. Still brewing a hot pot of shoegaze and Krautrock bubbled through a psych filter, the band knows how to ride the edge of groove and gently cut back to spacey atmospherics to superb effect. The record explodes their sound in all directions; its spacier, poppier, heavier, headier and far more expansive. Though no matter how close they fly to a pop sun, the band still know how to bring down the veil of ethereal psych like a welcome shroud and for that, we love them. Shimmering vocals bump piano plunks, bass grooves throb and wobble into organ swells and just when it seems like your headphones might not be able to contain the cacophony, it cools out into a welcomed smolder."-Andy French, Raven Sings the Blues. Limited edition of 500 copies.

CHANDELIERS is what happens when a quartet of dudes from Chicago art-rock bands (ICY DEMONS, KILLER WHALES and MICHAEL COLUMBIA, among them) decide to escape the city's notoriously brutal winters by making nothing but shimmering, beach-ready electronic jams. Holed up in the studio with racks of analog gear and classic synths-and guided by the spirits of Can, Kraftwerk, and Herbie Hancock-they've created three albums full of startlingly lush soundscapes, along the way receiving praise from XLR8R, 20 Jazz Funk Greats and The Wire, who called them "music for a perfect world, the soundtrack for a club where the dawn never comes and the lights are never turned on." Founding Fathers is the fourth jewel in chandeliers' lovingly hand-crafted crown: 10 tracks of luminous Balearic electro-funk for the Nintendo generation. From the orange-aura'd opener "New Times" through the hazy pop-locked dream of "Tropical Pocket" and the shoegazing techno-meets-Prince skronk of "Singularity," Chandeliers pull deep in their pockets to distill the sound of summer sun and Technicolor loft parties that last deep into the night. While deeply inspired by their involvement in artist loft/punk collective the Shape Shoppe, the Chandeliers take a diy aesthetic and marry it to smoothed-out arrangements that are perfectly ready for your avant-disco dancefloor. It's clear this foursome has deep record collections-you can hear echoes of rhythm from Liquid Liquid, acid house, and Arthur Russell, as well as soaring synth melodies plausibly inspired by Roger & Zapp or Tangerine Dream. Founding Fathers is a warm, luxuriant joyride of an album, the Xanax-like antidote to a robot world of overblown anthems and blog-house bangers. Breathe deep, and dive in.
