180G VINYL!AN ECLECTIC BLEND OF 14 HARD-EDGED NORTHERN SOUL CUTS FROM THE FUNKY SIDE OF THE STREET!FEATURES SUPER-RARE CUTS FROM RICKY ALLEN, WILLIE WEST, AARON NEVILLE, PLUS "UNRELEASED-AT-THE-TIME" TRACKS BY JOSEPHINE TAYLOR AND ALVIN CASH!It's time to pass the hatchet instead of the talc, and trade in the spin-and-slide for the hook-and-sling and work that dancefloor! Club Soul are proud to present a fresh compilation of 14 hard-edged, kitchen-sink rhythms that demand dance floor attention! Here we showcase the funky side of Northern Soul which has captured the imagination of our soul brothers and sisters across Europe and a growing number of progressive clubs in the U.K. Our eclectic blend borrows its name from title track "Soul Street" by Ricky Allen; a super-rare cut written and produced by Mel London and originally released to no acclaim on his Chicago based Tam-boo label circa 1968. Allen is joined by familiar faces such as southern soulsters Alder Ray Black & Eddie Bo, our hit artists Betty Harris, Tina Turner & Aaron Neville, compilation debut Lenny McDaniel and unreleased at the time tracks from Josephine Taylor & Alvin Cash. This new 180gm heavyweight audiophile vinyl Soul Street compilation is presented in a single sleeve with new artwork. Soul Street joins a growing catalogue of premium music on Charly Records imprint Club Soul - including the 12-track up-front, eclectic, super-rare, funky-edged and feel-good dancefloor soul LP Time & Place in conjunction with Soul Shack DJs, and newly compiled records that celebrate the clubs of the original Northern Soul Scene - The Scene Club, The Twisted Wheel, Wigan Casino Soul Club, Catacombs and The Golden Torch.

TWO RARE AND HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE MODERN SOUL DANCEFLOOR FILLERS FROM INSTANT RECORDSTAKEN FROM THE SOPHISTICATED SHADES OF SOUL AND NORTHERN SOUL ALL-DAYER LP's"Crossover... a bridge between Northern Soul and Philly Disco" The Modern Soul Collective'Shades of Soul' (CHARLYL317) explores the sophisticated side of Northern Soul with a smooth collection of sixteen mid and up-tempo grooves that showcase the crossover from Northern to Modern Soul. The sound of the 'All-Dayer' (CHARLYL307) evolved from a time when rare club soul was moving away from its roots in Detroit and experimenting with a new beat that coalesced at the legendary Manchester Ritz, which reigned supreme as the country's most forward-thinking All-Dayer. This created a melting pot of the very best of the underground soul scene, attractive to a wider, younger audience, leading to a national interest in Soul All-Dayers, and eventually heralding the rave era. These two singles from 1975 on the standout Instant Records label showcase the power that high-heat Modern Soul had, and still has, on dancefloors across the UK. Point of View's rarest-of-rare and fantastic in-demand single "I'm Superman" and Cliff Holmes' "I Need Ya' Baby" are both essential cuts for any discerning Northern Soul collection and are now available as one 7" in a single sleeve featuring replica Instant labels.

CLUB SOUL PRESENT AN ORIGINAL 'CLASH SINGLE' FEATURING TWO ALAN TOUSSAINT TEAMMATES GOING HEAD-TO-HEAD ON ONE NORTHERN SOUL CLASSICINCLUDING WILLIE HARPER'S SUPERIOR VERSION ON 7" VINYL FOR THE FIRST TIMEINSPIRED BY THE NEW 16-TRACK ALL-NIGHTER LPThe All-Nighter has been an integral part of "the scene" since the phrase Northern Soul first came into popular use following the now legendary Blues & Soul article entitled "The Up-North Soul Groove" in June 1970 by journalist Dave Godin (issue no.36). During the heyday of the Northern Soul scene the All-Nighter was the preferred format for the travelling soul fan. It separated the scene's top venues from the hundreds of regional soul nights in pubs, clubs and community halls across the land. The All-Nighter was the ultimate experience and the only place to hear the best, the rarest and the breaking sounds spun by the leading DJs. It was born in Manchester's Twisted Wheel in September 1963, found its feet (its dancing feet) at the Golden Torch in Stoke-on-Trent from 1970-72, and truly came of age at the Wigan Casino Soul Club from '73 onwards establishing itself as the premier National and even International event of the 70's. Willie Harper's originally unreleased recording of the Toussaint dance classic "Here Comes the Hurt Again", a feature track on the All-Nighter compilation (CHARLYL308), is put into direct competition with its B-side recording from Lee Dorsey of the same track on this new 7" on Club Soul. Both recordings have recently been remastered for a sound that will take Soul revellers back to the heat of '60s dancefloors as though it were yesterday. Presented on dinked vinyl in single sleeve packaging.

12 TRACKS OF UP-FRONT, ECLECTIC, SUPER RARE, FUNKY-EDGED AND FEEL-GOOD 64FLOOR SOUL In association with Soul Shack DJs, Club Soul present the "Time" and the "Place" to Shake the Shack! WITH ALBUM LAUNCH PARTY AT THE CUSTARD FACTORY IN BIRMINGHAM FEATURING DJS NEIL RUSHTON, ROGER HAYWARD, DEAN "SUNSHINE" SMITH, JORDI RIPOLLES, SEAN T TAYLOR AND TIM EVERETT The Soul Shack manifesto is stark - let your body take the place of your mind, and this new compilation on the Club Soul label is a tough-as-nails route to keeping the groove. The popular Soul Shack sessions in the Midlands being run by Neil Rushton are a homage to mind-blowing and spine-tingling black music gems. They encompass the preciseness of cerebral jazz fusion, the simple rawness of New Orleans funk, Nuyorican Latin Strut frenzy, the rhythm-driven angry polemics of Gil Scott-Heron, the sheen of Philly Soul, Big Apple Soul Disco and the Soul and Funk of Detroit's many music alchemists. These are all integral parts of a time and place called Soul Shack - and this record is the soundtrack. This LP edition of 'Time & Place' is presented on heavyweight audiophile 180gm vinyl in a single sleeve with Club Soul insert and sleeve notes by Neil Rushton. It joins a growing catalogue of premium music on Club Soul - including the 16-track crossover and modern soul LP Shades of Soul and newly compiled records that celebrate the clubs of the original Northern Soul Scene - The Scene Club, The Twisted Wheel, Wigan Casino Soul Club, Catacombs and The Golden Torch.

The rare and highly collectible mod/soul single newly remastered and reissued as a
club soul 7" taken from the new 'wigan casino' album of classics from the legendary
club "Northern Soul never sounded so good" Russ Winstanley John Richbourg must
have had a lot of faith in the little known Little Richie because he produced "Just
Another Heartache" and released it three times on his Nashville imprints Sound Stage
7, Sound Plus and Seventy 7. It did little for him in America but has been a much-loved
and much-treasured part of the Northern Soul scene since the early seventies.
Original copies are now approaching four-figures, such is its perennial popularity.
"One Bo-Dillion Years" was the final 45 for JR Richbourg with Little Richie and it's a
fine finger-clicking slice of Northern Soul later covered, to great effect, by Roscoe
Robinson. Co-writer of both tracks is one R Jarvis (John "Little Richie" Richard Jarvis)
from Hendersonville, Tennessee, who recorded in the seventies as Richie Jarvis on
Viking and Little Richard Jarvis on Capitol. Perhaps a clue at last as to the identity of
Little Richie. This 7" vinyl single features two back-to-back club classics, newly
remastered and of key interest to the Northern Soul and Mod scenes. The tracks are
taken from the new LP Club Soul album Wigan Casino, which features a host of
legendary artists including The Ringleaders, The Jerms, Ohio Players, Blanch Carter,
The Inspirations, The Young Savages, Little Richie, Maurice Williams, Ron Holden, The
Combinations, The C.O.D.'s and more.

The Ringleaders were a 4-piece vocal group from Saginaw, Michigan. They signed to M-Pac! Records in 1966. Their debut release
"Let's Start Over", a gorgeous teen ballad that was a local hit at the time. It failed to chart nationally but later won the hearts of the UK
Northern Soul scene for it's up tempo flip side "Baby, What Has Happened To Our Love" which remains a popular dance floor record
today. The Ringleaders failed to release a follow-up, although they had several other tremendous recordings in the can, some of
which have surfaced over the years on studio acetates. Here, for the very first time, Club Soul proudly present "I'd Like To Win You
Over", a stunning finger clicking dancer recorded at the same session as "Baby, What Has Happened To Our Love".

The Rock 'n' Roll Collection features 40-songs from
the most important record label in the history of music, with every one
newly remastered from the original Sun Records master tapes. A
comprehensive introduction to some of the most iconic and influential
music ever recorded. Elvis Presley introduced the rockabilly sound to the
world in 1954 with the recordings he made at Sun Records. These
epitomised the famous "Sun sound" and set the scene for the rock ' roll
explosion to follow. This raw and exciting new sound was a remarkable
fusion of white country music and black R&B and quickly found an eager
audience with the youth of the day. Presley's extraordinary success at
Sun Records led to the tiny Memphis-based label becoming a magnet for
aspiring rockabilly singers from all over America's South. Despite a
relatively short heyday, that "Sun sound" has endured the test of time
and remains as popular as ever with listeners of all age groups. As well as
featuring Elvis and such other household names as Jerry Lee Lewis,
Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Charlie Rich and Roy Orbison, the gatefoldsleeved
double-album also includes significant contributions from the
label's other important artists such as: Billy Lee Riley, Sonny Burgess, The
Miller Sisters, Warren Smith, Malcolm Yelvington, Jimmy Wages, and Earl
Hooker. Includes such all-time rock ' roll classics as: Mystery Train,
That's All Right, Blue Suede Shoes, Great Balls Of Fire, I Walk The Line,
Yakety Yak, Rock Island Line, Good Rockin' Tonight, Red Hot, Ooby
Dooby, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On .and many more!

180 gram vinyl! Heavyweight vinyl reissue of the seminal New York girl group's debut album produced by George 'Shadow' Morton for Red Bird Records.

Few girl groups of the 1960s can lay claim to being as influential as The Shangri-Las. Eschewing the glitz'n'glamour of their Motown contemporaries, the group's melodramatic songs and tough girl image - often at odds with lead singer Mary's tremulous vocals - have resonated across the decades in the recordings of Blondie, Amy Winehouse and, latterly, Bat For Lashes.

Comprising sisters Betty and Mary Weiss and twins Marge and Mary Ann Ganser, the group formed in high school in Queens, NYC in 1963 and made their Red Bird debut with producer 'Shadow' Morton's opus 'Remember (Walking In The Sand)'.

Between 1964 and 1966 they charted 11 US Hot 100 singles. Recorded to capitalise on their US No.1 death disc classic 'Leader Of The Pack' (penned by Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry), Side 1 of this mono 12-tracker brings The Shangs' distinctive sound and penchant for tear-stained heartbreak to the fore with tracks such as 'Easier To Cry' and 'What Is Love?', while Side 2 includes rough'n'ready live recordings of the Isley Brothers' 'Twist And Shout', the Phil Upchurch stomper 'You Can't Sit Down' and, harking back to their high school roots, The Chantels' 'Maybe'.

The album's opener, 'Give Him A Great Big Kiss', was immediately spun off as a single, peaking at US No.18 in early 1965.
