Genre:Film / TV
Pre-Cert, short for pre-certi?cation video, is a UK phrase that refers to a VHS tape released prior to the introduction of the 1984 Video Recordings Act. As the then new VHS market was completely unregulated, these editions were not required to be submitted to the BBFC, meaning the releases were completely uncensored - soon leading to the "video nasties" outrage. Today these tapes are sought after items on the collector's market. With his Cineploit debut, Magnus Sellergren set out to further and improve on the concept of Videogram's previous "S/T" 2014 album. Inspiration was drawn from the same sources as the previous full length effort, with the key words being bigger, better, and more produced. The result is an album created during a six-month period, between January and June 2015, starting with a total of thirty-some tracks that were written, then re-written - in some cases even completely rearranged - polished, and ?nally whittled down to a thirteen-track, 40+ minute full length LP/CD. Starting off with the now-familiar Videogram idents, Pre-Cert covers an assortment of classic genre-in?uenced sounds; from occult horror, 1980s Cannon action, thrillers and post-apocalyptics to "cannibal freakouts" (as he affectionately calls them), Italian-produced erotica, 1970s Spanish horror, the iconic Friday the 13th series and climaxing with a mammoth ?ve-part, 13-minute tribute to John Carpenter's sci-? horror classic "The Thing". The journey Videogram started in 2014 is now taking a huge step forward, offering the same amount of affection for the VHS format and genres as his previous efforts, but more focused, polished and well executed!

Welcome to the sound of PAN/SCAN!Part movie score, part library music, part accoustic sculptures: the debut album "Cinematic Lies" from PAN/SCAN is a trip into the wide world of soundtrack music, evoking many different scenes and set pieces. From furious action to nightmarish horror, from zombiesque soundscapes to the opening credits of a fictional serial, there're all varieties of cinematic music represented, most of them with a delightful touch of the 80s. Hardly a reminiscence you can't find on this longplayer. PAN/SCAN took a deep musical bow to many iconic composers like John Carpenter, Christopher Young, Tangerine Dream, Goblin or Fabio Frizzi.

Genre:Film / TV
"Cataclysm" is the new album by Oscillotron, the solo project of David Johansson (frontman of Swedish doom metal band Kongh, as well as touring/session member of Cult Of Luna and Switchblade respectively). The album is the follow-up to the acclaimed debut album "Eclipse" (2013), a soundscape reminiscent of old horror influenced prog rock fleshed out into an ambient dream state. While the main vision and atmosphere from the debut is largely kept intact, the new album "Cataclysm" is in many ways a vast progression from its predecessor. Made primarily with analog synthesizers, mellotron and drum machines, "Cataclysm" is a versatile, yet uniform experience where the character of early electronic music meets the unsettling and dark resonance of horror and sci-fi movie scores of the 70's and early 80's. The 7-track album was written and produced during 2014-2016 at the Oscillotron studio in Stockholm, Sweden, and mastering was taken care of by Karl Daniel Lidén at Tri-Lamb Studios.

Sixty Minute Zoom
LP+CD | 2014 | EU | Original (Cineploit)

Release:2014 / EU – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Zoltan return with their second full-length album, following hot on the heels of the “Tombs Of The Blind Dead” soundtrack EP on Rise Above Records. Sounding more focused and confident than ever, the 5 tracks that make up “Sixty Minute Zoom” are a continuation and improvement on previous Zoltan releases. Identifying as “cyborg prog” and comparable to forebears Goblin, Heldon and Zombi, Zoltan have succeeded in making a fictional soundtrack for an uncertain age. Inspired by the dystopian sci-fi writers Yevgeny Zamyatin and J.G. Ballard, the album creates a foreboding atmosphere, intimating a near-future urban hell where paranoia and violence are never far away. Pulsating sequencers, eerie analog synths and a pounding rhythm section drive the music into realms of retro-futurist dread, interspersed with brooding interludes that take a pause for reflection without letting up on the intensity for a minute. The album climaxes with the 20 minute song-suite “The Integral”, based on Zamyatin’s prescient 1920s novel We, journeying through a realm of ominous arpeggios, jazz-inflected drumming and creeping synth lines before blasting into inner space. Since 2012’s Cineploit debut “First Stage Zoltan” the band have been honing their reputation as a devastating live act, with appearances including Supersonic 2012 and Dresden’s Cinestrange Film Festival 2013. At the same time they have also been developing a parallel life as interpreters of film-scores on their non full-length releases, to wild acclaim from the international horror cognoscenti. Adaptations of the themes to Brit biker-horror classic “Psychomania” (a 12” release on Cineploit Records in 2012) and the aforementioned 12” on Rise Above show a versatility to Zoltan that will surely see them reap the acclaim they so richly deserve.

"SCIMMIE is a musical conversation that flows parallel to the film by Romano Scavolini. These were the agreements. When we met, he told me "I don't want film music. You have to create a sort of "pain symphony", something that continues even if the film stops, a music that doesn't care".The work, divided in three volumes, like the film, was conceived in years in several cities, while from time to time I was moving for work reasons. I wanted to collect contrasting experiences, put them in line without seeking for harmony, instead releasing many individual energies, make them explode and implode - simply suggesting a direction. I used many composition techniques to do this, from classical 4 voices writing to sampling, to overdub, to psychedelic improvisation. I wanted to let this music emerge and sink between various identities, without being afraid of making a faux paus - instead trying to speak languages that are foreigners to everybody. even through the various guests, conceived as "representatives". It is a political vision. Contradiction, schizophreny, I wanted to ride them, ritualize them, show them. Not a contamination, but a struggle, a fight.I try to compose and, once written and recorded, handling the tracks as found objects, with continuous elevations and debasements - a total "shuffling the cards" (even Romano in the meanwhile was doing it with the film, editing the episodes and then shuffling them). Hiding the work of writing sometimes, and sometimes instead showing it naked, make it emerge. Writing straight, recording, letting it settle until the emotional detachment and then mistreating the material, improvising upon it, sometimes leaving everything to randomness to find new paths. This, for me, is a method and a liturgy. " - Luigi Porto.

The Cameraman's Revenge

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Rashomon is the solo project of Matt Thompson, bassist and keyboardist of Cineploit artists Zoltan and cosmic synth act Cremator.“The Cameraman´s Revenge” is the 4th release under the Rashomon name, and the first on Cineploit. The earlier Rashomon albums were a mix of experimental pieces and music influenced by film composers, and with time the music has developed in a purely cinematic direction. The music on “The Cameraman´s Revenge” was composed as two long soundtrack pieces to accompany silent movies by Russian filmmaker Ladislaw Starewicz. “The Cameraman´s Revenge” itself is an early Surrealist masterpiece from 1912, in which Starewicz animated the corpses of dead insects to tell a tale of infidelity and revenge. The soundtrack is a carnival-esque tour-de-force of folk-concrete, utilising harmoniums, jawharps, vintage synthesisers, an array of oddball percussion and more.“The Mascot” (1933) is a bizarre and disturbing film for children, and Rashomon’s soundtrack reflects this darkness with shifting drones, ominously melodic waltzes and minimalist organ fugues over the course of its 25 minute length. On the DVD that comes with the Vinyl both films are featured, accompanied by Rashomon´s music.

Release:2014 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Austria´s Thelema continue to grow and progress on their latest effort for homegrown label Cineploit Records, exploring dynamic and emotionally resonant territory with a starkly melodic sound.Growing ventures further beyond the Portishead and Twin Peaks influences which defined the bands „Hearing the Light“ opus a couple of years ago via a dense layered and textured sound, one which incorporates female vocals, E-bow and ominous, tolling church bells alongside the band´s established sound of synth and piano heavy electronica.Hans Jurgen is the man behind Thelema, and it´s on Growing where the man´s capabilities as a songwriter are truly rising to the forefront. There are moments here which speak largely of the man´s fascination with the cult scores to evocative cinema of the 1960´s and 70´s, particularly the Italian Giallo & Horror Film. There are even moments which mimic the showdowns of the old spaghetti west, amplified by Jurgen´s tasteful use of electric guitar. There vibe of Growing is pensive for the most part, however, drawing comparisons perhaps to bands like Antimatter and Sigur Ros, while sounding entirely like no one else out there right now in the experimental, electronic music scenes. This is something to be commended, and certainly serves as a feather in the cap for Cineploit Records, for whom Thelema has clearly become a flagship act, a band whose potential is seemingly limitless when it comes to reinventing moody, melodic electronic music.
