Gods In The Spirit, Titans In The Flesh Eye Of Medusa: Electric Blue & Yellow Swirl Edition
LP | 2018 | US | Reissue (Coalmine)

Release:2018 / US – Reissue
Genre:Hip Hop
"Blu & Nottz’s epic two-part saga officially reaches its final form with ‘Gods In The Spirit, Titans In The Flesh,’ which combines the previously released EPs into a single project that upgrades everything about the original.

There is a care and attention to detail to this project that goes well beyond a standard reissue that clumps the previous projects together. ‘GITS, TITF’ is a complete upgrade from the ground up with stunning new artwork by Dan Lish, remixed and remastered audio (handled by Carl Roe and D-Sane, respectively), and a reimagined tracklist featuring an ethereal new closing track (“Yesterday” feat. Sene & Elisa Meri).

All of these fine touches really make the project a treasure for diehard fans, newcomers, and collectors alike. Blu personally wanted to restructure the tracklist because he believes it flows better than before, a sentiment that hits immediately when “Atlantis” kicks things off. And then there’s the one-two punch of hearing “End Of The World” (feat. Rashad) and “Heaven on Earth” back to back, which reveals the true nuances of these songs.

“Being some of my greatest material to date and the strongest lyrical follow-up I’ve constructed since ‘Below The Heavens,’” Blu says, “I feel more than honored to have both EPs officially commemorated as an LP to stand out amongst a band of classic full lengths produced by Nottz, like Asher Roth, Kardinal Offishall, Rapper Big Pooh and so on.”

For Nottz, it’s all about showcasing the hypothetical Hip-Hop beast dwelling beneath the surface of the previously released EPs. “Gods in the Spirit was the beginning—an eye opener to the madness that me and Blu were about to unleash,” he says, “While Titans in the Flesh unleashed the wrath.”

“With both EPs now combined, it’s a wrap—the kraken has officially been released with reckless abandon,” Nottz adds.

To celebrate and remember the life of the late DJ Devastate, gifted producer Tall Black Guy created the stunning and lush new single, “We Rollin’ for You,” that serves as a tribute to the memory of his friend.

As it happens, Devastate and TBG were actually discussing a collaboration a week or so prior to the Swedish artist’s passing in March 2018. While they sadly never had the opportunity to work together, TBG felt compelled to produce something that he felt captured Dev’s spirit. In doing so, he created the absolutely flooring and beautifully layered “We Rollin’ for You.”

The track is bursting with life, stellar percussion, hypnotizing vocals, and two special live elements that really bring the composition home. Even better, it’s complemented by an equally wondrous remix by Sweden’s Max I Million and Ion Zaar on the B-Side, where you can hear how they utilize TBG’s arrangement and flip it in their own unique ways.

The special medley-style remix only appears exclusively on the vinyl version of “We Rollin’ for You,” while the separate versions will be available digitally. The vinyl release is limited to just 500 units and can be purchased through select brick and mortar retailers, Fat Beats’ online store, and TBG’s Bandcamp page, via Coalmine Records.

Coalmine Records is pleased to re-release Guilty Simpson and Small Professor’s highly acclaimed collaborative LP, Highway Robbery, on classic black vinyl. Weighing in at 11 tracks, which includes the vinyl-only bonus track of Zilla Rocca’s Remix of “Go,” the album places the listener in a seemingly post apocalyptic Detroit where the mentality is feast or famine. The LP plays as one long narrative of Guilty’s day-to-day survival in Detroit’s concrete jungle, all set to the backdrop of Small Professor’s ominous, percussion heavy production. Featuring guest appearances from Detroit’s Boldy James, AG (of D.I.T.C.), Elucid, and Castle, with both Statik Selektah and DJ Revolution handling the Technic 1200s.
The vinyl launch falls on the week of the five year anniversary since Highway Robbery was first released - available for the first time in a classic black vinyl format. Ranked among the top 25 albums of the year in 2013 by HipHopDX. “Guilty Simpson and Small Professor find common ground on ‘Highway Robbery,’ a 10-track album that plays out like a crime drama from an old pulp magazine.” Upon the album’s initial launch, Highway Robbery was supported by the likes of Complex, XXL, Hip-Hop Wired, The Boombox, Okayplayer, Ambrosia for Heads, DJBooth, HipHopDX, 2DOPEBOYZ, Nah Right, OnSMASH, and more. Small Professor is the collaborating producer on the forthcoming posthumous LP, 86 Witness, from the late Sean Price, due out later this year.

Record Store Day 2020 Release.
Limitation: 1000 copies.

Just in time for Record Store Day 2020, Coalmine Records and Duck Down Music are happy to announce the 7’ release of "Latoya Jackson," the commanding, gritty posse cut first appearing on Sean Price & Small Professor's LP, 86 Witness. The A-side is the original version which features Quelle Chris with cuts from DJ Revolution, while the flip side features the “Back to the Old School Remix,” with a gracious guest verse from the luminary lyricist Masta Ace.

Adding to the record's allure for bonafide collectors and hip-hop fans alike, the artwork has been handled by Atlanta-based heavyweight FRKO (Action Bronson, Gucci Mane), who expertly reimagined the cover of Just-Ice's classic Back to the Old School (Fresh Records, 1986). With an aptitude for details, FRKO's vibrant visual take superimposes Masta Ace into the scene, drawing from the rap veteran's cover artwork for his 2004 album, A Long Hot Summer. The parallel merger of classic iconography and refined cultural references accents the 7" release with exemplary execution, giving new legs to a track that further personifies the coveted energy of its initial release as an exclusive Record Store Day drop, all while paying homage to the late legend Sean Price.

This collector’s edition 7-Inch of "Latoya Jackson" is pressed on striking bubble gum pink vinyl.
Vanderslice - Trendsetter
LP | 2020 | US | Original (Coalmine)
17,09 €* 17,99 € -5%
Release:2020 / US – Original
Genre:Hip Hop
Armed with rare records from the Tanner library and a handful of guest features, Vanderslice shares some of his best work to date with the 'Trendsetter 'EP. The seven tracks showcase both his gifts as a producer and as a curator. While he provides the snarling, gritty instrumentals, we’re treated to standout appearances from Vic Spencer, Ty Farris, G Perico, Daniel Son, and Capo.

In creating the beats for the project, Slice explains that he had “like 20 or 30 loops at my disposal, all gutter, all in the same vein.” After picking his favorites, he personally linked with the emcees and stayed true to his aesthetic of creating pure, raw rap. The result is a track like “Cold Winter,” a fitting title for a cut bursting with shit-talking lyrics from Chicago’s Vic Spencer and hard-hitting production.

'Trendsetter,' as a whole, is equally as rare. It’s a no-frills, no-bullshit release that stays true to everyone involved, and serves as another dope project from one of underground hip-hop’s best kept secrets.

Remineded: A Remix Compilation Blue Vinyl Edition
LP | 2019 | Original (Coalmine)

Release:2019 / Original
Genre:Hip Hop
Coalmine Records is excited to announce a revamped version of their classic compilation, 'Remineded.' This upgraded take on the collection first released in January of 2015 comes with two brand-new remixes that further demonstrate the versatility of the label’s deep roster. With 12 tracks in total, this release offers a new spin on the label’s history that is approaching 15 years! This remix compilation from the Brooklyn indie is both a reflection of their noteworthy catalog and preview of what's to come for 2020 and beyond. The first of the two remixes includes DJ Concept’s summery take on Guilty Simpson & Small Professor’s raw “On The Run” single (off 'Highway Robbery'). And then there’s Oh No’s recently produced and previously unreleased remix of “Gold Vases” off Planet Asia & DJ Concept’s well received 'Seventy Nine' LP (2016). The inimitable Cali producer overhauls the stand out single by injecting it with spaced-out funk. 'Remineded' features remixes from Hip-Hop's most coveted acts, including Q-Borough's emcee, and famed Golden Era producer, Large Professor (Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Mobb Deep, AZ, Cormega) D.I.T.C.'s Diamond D (Brand Nubian, The Fugees, Ras Kass, Pharoahe Monch), Cookin Soul (Mac Miller, Nipsey Hustle, Nicki Minaj, Wiz Khalifa, Joey Bada$$, Pusha T, The Game, YG, Curren$y), Australia's Grammy-nominated M-Phazes (Eminem, Kimbra, Logic, Sean Price) and Brown Bag All Stars' rapper and producer, The Audible Doctor (50 Cent, Smoke DZA, Fredro Starr, Tragedy Khadafi), amongst others. With regards to the compilation’s rerelease, Coalmine's founder, Matt Diamond issues the following statement: "The objective of this release is to remind fans of our decade and a half long history, along with some of the great acts we've worked with over the years. The ‘e’ in 'Remineded' is a play on words, placing an emphasis on 'mine,' to bring some focus back to the brand. Remixes and compilations have always been staples in Hip-Hop culture, and we want to thank those who have stuck with us over the years by treating them to a new take on some old gems.

Artifacts - Easter

Release:2017 / US – Original
Genre:Hip Hop
Coalmine Records is excited to announce the limited-edition vinyl release of the Artifacts’ highly regarded 2012 single, “Easter,” which marked the group’s first official release in more than 15 years.

Initially released as a digital single on April 3, 2012 (the Tuesday before Easter Sunday), the track later appeared on Coalmine’s decennary compilation, ‘Unearthed,’ which dropped May 13, 2014.

However you heard it, one thing was very clear: despite their time apart, Tame One and El Da Sensei sounded as fresh as ever. The New Jersey rappers’ venomous flows are boosted by the neck-breaking production of acclaimed North Carolina producer Khrysis. Making the cipher complete is the turntable work of DJ Dutchmaster, who provides the scratch hook and outro cuts.

With this release, “Easter” makes its grand return in the physical form in a limited-edition white vinyl pressing that also includes the instrumental track on the flip. It also takes things back to the old school by way of a front jacket hole that exposes the label (the heads know what’s up).
