in addition to the streetlife, culture and religious diversity of residents, backpackers and immigrants of south-east asia. during my trip i was able to meet wonderful people from all walks of life, countries and musical influences. all used samples were recorded in south-east asia with a zoom h2n and later supplemented with various synths and layers. from monks in laos, to the street musicians of the khmer, ukuleleplayer thoma and many more underrated artists, you will find a great variety of samples, impressions & beautiful soundscapes.

Theory of mind as a personal capability is known as the understanding that others have beliefs, desires, intentions, and perspectives that are different from one's own. Possessing a functional theory of mind is considered crucial for success in everyday human social interactions and is used when analyzing, judging, and inferring others' behaviors.' Based on that knowledge Johannes Onetake made an album to reach the people that feel appealed to this. One Sp404, one idea and a lot of smooth bap make you feel easy for 14 tracks.

With an EP titled "Antikoerper" (that is: antibody) it stands to reason we're dealing with a lockdown record here. And Marian Tone will happily admit, it is exactly that. Yet, it goes way beyond a killing-boredom-and-drowning-out-the-lockdown-blues-routine. It is in fact an accomplished contribution to a healing process we are collectively longing for. It masters unfavourable production conditions in a time of distance, to celebrate palpable unification within every of its bars. He gathers six different artists from different stylistic backgrounds to add their specific spectral colour to a light of compassion and escapism that shines through each of the arrangements herein. Through the effortlessly floating down beat jam "Go Out" for example. The Jazz laden and Soul-ful embrace "On Your Way", the rhodes-meets-horn meditation of the fittingly titled "Vibes" or every other piece of what rather should be categorized a mini-album. Tone approaches the production with unmistakable beatmaker attitude, educated in all consciousness-driven genres of the past five decades, yet he manages to keep the whole body of work sample-free, highlighting above all the vivid nature of collaboration and the overcoming of rough times in togetherness.

Midnight Hiss is the first hip-hop / jazz instrumental LP by Fed Nance. The sound reflects its place of birth: Fed’s hometown is next to a big river and a gigantic factory, where beautiful sunsets and huge smoke stacks are the daily panorama. The album is free of music samples: everything is written, played and produced by Fed. Midnight Hiss is a unique and dense mix of crooked-jazzy guitars, high-flying saxophones, drunk synthesizers, smooth piano riffs, syncopated bass lines and sharp drum brakes. The tracks are recorded into vintage reel-to-reel tape machines which give to the sound that particular flavor. The album cover is the original package of the magnetic tape that has been used for the mastering process of the album.

As august is coming to an end, Black Bear Basement deliver the right sounds to carry the warmth of the summer just a little bit further: The Jazz/Hip Hop-band is set to release their EP “Gassi” as vinyl via Dezi-Belle Records on the 1st of September 2019.
Black Bear Basement consists of four instrumentalists from Germany, who first met as friends. They connected through, of course, their love of music, though above all because of their shared urge to fuse the drive of Hip Hop-beats with the musical liberty of Jazz. This motivation can be felt especially when Black Bear Basement are performing live – the crowd gets moved with saxophone, vibraphone and keys, but also with turntables and any room gets filled with the atmosphere of a comfortably furnished basement, no matter the location. The crew tends to improvise more than clinging to fixed song structures while doing so; exactly that is, what makes the essence of the band, which formed in 2015.
It’s that mood either, which dominated the first physical release of the band in 2018, “Beyond Traits”. The vinyl of the record sold out in every edition and got perceived very well, while being a mere instrumental album. Now, the „Gassi“-EP comes along with the first vocal feature on a Black Bear Basement-project, namely with support of singer DALEE. The producer plusma from Hamburg didn’t want to miss his chance of assisting the band on the track “Posse” as well. Nevertheless, Black Bear Basement are proving their own stylishness on an instrumental level again, particularly in the finale of “Gassi”. On the fourth track of the EP, Ciaras “1, 2 Step” gets arrayed in a garment of smooth Slow Jazz, which provides the singers hit with a completely new, but nonetheless pleasant vibe. It’s like Ciara is sitting in a dimly lit bar in Berlin, accompanied by four guys – the talent of creating such an atmosphere is what unites Black Bear Basement and what makes the “Gassi”-EP the preliminary climax of its expression.
