Standard 33rpm edition without gatefold cover.WRWTFWW & Palto Flats Records are ecstatic to announce the highly-anticipated reissue of Japanese percussionist Midori Takada's sought after and timeless ambient / minimal album “Through The Looking Glass", originally released in 1983 by RCA Japan. Considered a Holy Grail of Japanese music by many, “Through The Looking Glass” is Midori Takada's first solo endeavor, a captivating four-song suite capturing her deep quests into traditional African and Asian percussive language and exploring contemplative ambient sounds with an admirably precise use of marimba. The result is alternatively ethereal and vibrant, always precise and mesmerizing, and makes for an atmospheric masterpiece and an unparalleled sonic and spiritual experience. The fully licensed reissue is available as a single 33rpm LP and a limited 45rpm DLP, both cut directly from the original studio reels (AAA), at Emil Berliner (formerly the in-house recording department of renowned classical record label Deutsche Grammophon) for the 45rpm DLP, and at the equally famous Frankfurter SST Studio for the LP. It is also available in CD format for the first time. All versions come with extensive liner notes. Bio Midori Takada is a composer, multi percussionist, and theater artist renowned in Japanese vanguard circles. She will tour Europe this year. Midori released two solo albums: “Through The Looking Glass” and “Tree Of Life” and wrote music for Tadashi Suzuki's theater plays. Her hypnotic, minimalist music is based in the concept of coherence between sound and the human body.

The borders between London’s musical tribes have always been porous. For Yussef Kamaal, the sound of the capital – with its hum of jungle, grime and broken beat – has shaped a self-taught, UK-tipped approach to playing jazz. In the states, the genre’s long-running to-and-fro with hip hop – from Robert Glasper to Kamasi Washington – has reimagined it within US culture. On Black Focus, Yussef Kamaal frame jazz inside the bass-saturated, pirate radio broadcasts of London. Taking inspiration from the anything-goes spirit of ‘70s jazz-funk, on albums by Herbie Hancock or the Mahavishnu Orchestra, it’s a loose template with plenty of room to experiment. The pair, made up of Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams (aka Henry Wu), have had little in the way of formal training. Instead, their musical tastes – and approach to playing – are indebted to Thelonious Monk’s piano as much as the drum programming of Kaidi Tatham. “It's all about the drums and the keys,” Williams says. “Not to take anything from anyone else, but that's where it all originates from: the chords, the rhythm of the chords and the drums.” Born out of a one-off live session to perform Williams’ solo material for Boiler Room, it soon became a project in its own right. Coming together as Yussef Kamaal, they played a series of live shows where little more than a chord progression would be planned before taking to the stage Bringing that unspoken understanding to the recording sessions (engineered by Malcolm Catto of The Heliocentrics), the unplanned, telepathically spawned grooves retain the raw energy of their live shows. “It's not so much about complete arrangement, it's more about flow,” Dayes says. “A lot of the tracks are just made spontaneously – Henry will be playing two chords, I'll fill in the groove and we'll just leave the arrangement naturally.” Both hail from South East London, crossing paths in 2007 as teenagers playing their first pub gigs around Peckham and Camberwell. Dayes drums for cosmically-inclined, afrobeat outfit United Vibrations, while Williams – on top of drumming and playing keys in different incarnations over the years – has made waves with his solo, synth-draped house 12"s for much-fêted labels like 22a and Rhythm Section.

Only 1 per customer!Fifteen years since its original release, The Other People Place's Lifestyles Of The Laptop Café is finally made available again on vinyl. A long-standing favourite among the many legions of Warp fans and rightly considered to be one of the very best electronic albums of all time. It's hard to sum up in words just how important Lifestyles Of The Laptop Café truly is. Originally released back in 2001 as part of the Drexciyan off-shoot Storm Series, Lifestyles was one of the various projects of one-half of deep sea electro pioneers Drexciya, James Stinson. Shrouded in mystery, the two members of Drexciya took the blueprint laid out by the pioneers of the hypnotic groove, Kraftwerk and gave it a truly electro feel - cold, yet funky. Where Drexciya's sound was focused in the deepest corners of the ocean, James's work as The Other People Place was a solo project that turned its gaze elsewhere, most notably in the direction of love.Playing out like the first meeting through the early days of a relationship, the themes of closeness and affection carry a strong theme throughout with tracks like 'Eye Contact' describing those very first seconds of connection, before the story unfolds with the twilight romance of 'Moonlight Rendezvous', and the almost doubt creeps in on the bittersweet 'You Said You Want Me' and the anthemic 'Let Me Be Me'. A track of legendary status amongst the wide-ranging spectrum of electronic music lovers, producers and DJs the world over. With the original vinyl being incredibly hard to find (for a second-hand copy, you are looking upwards of one hundred and fifty quid easily!) this freshly repressed edition is something many of us have been dreaming of, and for those looking to take their first trip to the Place, you are in for a life-affirming experience.Like all of the very best techno and electro, The Other People Place yields some of the most beautiful sounds to emerge from the D with a limited sound pallette, stripping everything back to the essentials to compose an incredibly important yet delicate album that still to this day continues to fascinate and seduce with its strikingly subtle flow and elegant mystery.

Reuniting the best session musicians Japan had to offer to make an album that would evoke the atmospheres of South Pacific islands, the kind of places Japanese people spend their vacations in. Pacific (1978) is a treat to the ears; its theme of the southern Pacific ocean and its warm cerulean waters relax its listeners with a fusion of city pop, soft jazz, and that good old 1970’s funk while remaining surprisingly fully instrumental throughout all contributions from artists Haruomi Hosono, Shigeru Suzuki, and Tatsuro Yamashita. A true cult LP and an inspiration for a lot of, so called, “vaporware” music.

New music from Simon Green aka Bonobo is always an event, but when it heralds the arrival of a whole new album (his first since 2013’s “The North Borders”), it’s really something to get excited about. The masterful, magisterial “Migration” is Green’s sixth album and it’s a record which cements his place in the very highest echelons of electronic music and beyond. It might be difficult to imagine it, but “Migration” will take his beautiful, emotive, intricate music to an even bigger audience. “My own personal idea of identity has played into this record and the theme of migration,” Green explains. “Is home where you are or where you are from, when you move around?” The personal, it seems, can also be universal.

Many many stories and shared memories – not all of them good, not all of them bad either. While modern space age technology would make it possible to reach the moon’s surface a lot faster, for us it is not only about moving forward as quickly as possible, but also to turn around, look back and around ourselves and to reflect on everything that happened and is happening. This is why we have such a broad range of artists guesting on our latest compilation. Some that have been part of the voyage from its earliest stages, others that have been with us for major milestones along the way, and even more that might move ahead with us into new and unchartered musical regions.Working with Dave McKean – a true legend, especially for anyone into comic illustrations – wraps up this whole trip in the sweetest way. Not only is it a big honour, but – in a way – it completes the circle, as Dave has been a major influence for the label’s artworks from its earliest beginnings already.Luckily, we have not crashed into any lunar crater with our listeners. We want to thank you for making this long journey possible and we greatly look forward to celebrating this milestone with our partners, musical family and of course with you, our listeners.Since our 10th anniversary the face of one of our founding members who passed away way too early graces our logo. This release is dedicated to her and commemorates the 11th anniversary of her death.Featured on the compilation are such artists as Synkro, Rain Dog, Monsoonsiren, Tom Day, Robot Koch, Flako, 40 Winks, Long Arm, submerse, kidkanevil, 1000 Names, Tendts, Kafuka, Erik Luebs, My Panda Shall Fly, CYNE, Soosh, Nuage, Michał Lewicki, Jilk, Sieren, Olof Melander, KRTS, Deft, Barnaby Carter, Rumpistol, Fau, Button Eyes, Deceptikon, Pavel Dovgal, Memotone, Graciela Maria, Mujuice, Stompy’s Playground, Sina., Sweatson Klank, Senoy, Parra for Cuva, Fybe One, and many more. Arguably the label’s highest profile release thus far; the mighty Pye Corner Audio joining forces with PY label mate Faten Kanaan for an ace split 45.In PCA's Martin Jenkins' own words: “Faten Kanaan first came to my attention with her wonderful cassette release 'EP'. We started corresponding shortly after that and I always had it in mind that we should collaborate on something. So when PY asked if I would contribute to the label, and then released Faten's 'The Botanist & The Archaeologist' LP things seemed perfectly aligned”.A side “The Darkest Wave” features pulsing icy synth drones over which Faten’s cool NY narrative owes nods to some 70’s Carpenter-eque VHS chillwave soundtrack, (not unlike some of Umberto’s work of the last decade or so.) A beautifully evolving, slow burner piece which over continuous plays reveals one of the year’s great A sides so far. The B side is a stripped down piece more in keeping with the seminal minimal synth singles of the late 70s beloved by both artist and label here. Indeed, Martin Jenkins’ sleeve art also doffs it’s cap to the artwork feel of some of those legendary post punk 45s.A magical 45 released as a one time pressing of 500 45s on vinyl only with Polytechnic Youth discography card. Incidentally.

Unreleased early Algerian synth electronic by Ahmed Malek, compiled and co-produced by Flako. In the early 1980s, Ahmed Malek was already in his 50s , when he discovered synthesizers and electronic music for himself and started to experiment with sounds. The result was a mixture of ambient synth music, field recordings he made in Cuba and a wide variation of different sound experiments that he also presented as different avanguarde music festivals in Cuba and the US. None of it was ever released but we got a huge box of master tapes from his family and we're happy to present this different side of Ahmed Malek's music. It was compiled and co-produced by Flako, a fan of early electronic and synth music. This is not a remix album though, Flako's aim was to create an album out of 2 hours of material that sounds like it might have if Mr. Malek would have finished it himself before of his death. Fully approved and licensed from the artists family. The album comes with an informative booklet with liner notes, an interview with Flako regarding his approach towards the production and unseen photos. We will also release a third album by Ahmed Malek which will be more in the vein again of the music he is known for and this album will also be previously unreleased.

This rare album was recorded as part of the legendary prescription label album series in the late 1990's. Coil were invited to record at sun dial's studios beneath the London Bridge Hop Exchange. This studio was originally know as Samurai studios that was originally built and owned by Iron Maiden. The premises in Victorian times was an old debtors prison which had three levels underground, and still had the original chains, manacles and wrought iron doors from the old prison. This caught the attention of John Balance and was very keen to record there. At Gary Ramon's invitation, Coil spent a number of days recording at the studio during Halloween 1998 and they developed a number of tracks some of which resulted in this LP. The other material has remained unreleased - however we hope to bring them out one day.Ramon produced and mixed the "Astral Disaster" recordings, as well as playing guitar and sitar on these sessions. The original album was issued on Prescription in an edition of 99 signed and numbered copies, which are long time sold out. Originals fetch £700+. This is the first time the album is being reissued officially since 1999. A version of this album was later remixed by the band and released on their own label, however these Prescription mixes are unique to this first release of "Astral Disaster".Taken from the original masters this album comes with original sleeve artwork, insert and facsimile signatures of John Balance and Peter Christopherson that came with the first issue.Limited edition of 500 copies with insert.

Limited edition of 300 copies on pink vinyl!“WILD” is the most complete musical work by Nuage up to date. Following a thought-out plan from beginning to finish – with a real introduction, development, and conclusion – the album is influenced foremost by the sun, sea and tropics. The music slowly evolves from warm and uplifting songs towards colder and more mysterious realms.Taking a full year to finish the album, including the entire change of season from summer to winter, memories of trips to Mexico, the mountains, and the seaside fade away and are replaced by days at home and in the studio in cold St. Petersburg. At the same time the music itself goes through a very personal development from outgoing moments to parts of personal reflection.Without adding too much weight or philosophy to the music, the album is an easy and natural listening experience that explores contrasting and at times contradicting themes between summer and winter, cold and warm, introverted and extroverted and many layers in between, while also harmonizing the musical past, present and future of Nuage.Following his critically acclaimed “Neida” EP from 2015 (FACT, BBC Radio 1, thump, XLR8R, Clash, Ransom Note, among many others), “WILD” comes out worldwide in limited colored double vinyl and features such guests as his friend BOP, Brooklyn based BAILE, Olga Maximova (Harp), and Belle (of Left Rib).

As humans, we are aware of our inner beast and should therefore be able to control it. We understand our hard-wired primal urges and why they exist in an evolutional sense. We understand the relationship between mind and body. Highly evolved and intelligent, we should be able to recognize these genetic hangovers and control them as a means to act positively and move forward as a compassionate species. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Recent global events have proven this. The human race is consuming itself. World Eater, the new album by Benjamin John Power’s Blanck Mass project, is a reaction to this. There is an underlying violence and anger throughout the record, even though some of these tracks are the closest Power has ever come to writing, in his words, “actual love songs.” “Maybe subconsciously this was some kind of countermeasure to restore some personal balance,” Power explains. On World Eater, Power further perfects the propulsive, engrossing electronic music he has created throughout his impressive decade-plus career, both under the Blanck Mass moniker and as one-half of Fuck Buttons, as he elaborates upon the sound of 2015’s brilliant double album Dumb Flesh. As massive as the sonic world of the new record often feels, its greatest achievement is in its maximization of a limited set of tools, a restriction intentionally set by Power himself. “As an exercise in better understanding myself musically, I found myself using an increasingly restricted palette during the World Eater creative process. Evoking these intense emotions using minimal components really put me outside of my comfort zone and was unlike the process I am used to. Feeling exposed shone a new light on this particular snapshot. I feel enriched for doing so.”

Broadcast’s James Cargill, and frequent collaborators Roj Stevens and Julian House (Ghost Box Records, The Focus Group) present the debut album of their collaborative project Children Of Alice.Named as an act of tribute to the late Trish Keenan, for whom Alice in Wonderland and in particular Jonathan Miller’s summerhazy 60s idyll of an adaptation, was a presiding inspiration. The name invokes her abiding spirit and also creates a sense of continuity with the evolving Broadcast soundworld, which became more concentrated and individual as it refined itself and adapted to new configurations.Children of Alice brings together the group's debut recordings, originally released as a series of limited editions for the Folklore Tapes label, here they are made widely available for the very first time. Combining a narrative of library rooted psychedelia with a strong soundtrack feel that perfectly fits and continues the lineage of the three members' individual projects.

Some 18 months on from the release of his acclaimed Exit Strategies 12”, Jonny Nash returns with Eden, an album recorded in Bali and the United Kingdom throughout 2016. While many of his aural trademarks are present - think glistening guitars, drifting synthesizer chords and subtle piano motifs - Eden feels a little different: humid, dense and decidely "murkier" than previous outings.Check, for example, the gently pulsing rhythms, layered vocal samples and hazy ambient house era textures of "Maroon Crisp", or the sparkling melodies, chiming percussion and bubbly drum machine matters of "Ding Repair"; both tracks are as beautiful and life-affirming as you'd expect, but feel far more widescreen in vision. Eden is full of these kind of moments. There's the undulating mysticism of "Conversations With Mike", the delay-laden, outer-space ambience of "Down At Babakan", and the crystal clear brilliance of closer "Lime".

Spring might not yet have sprung, but the Growing Bin is always in bloom. After brightening our days with the opiate beauty of Barthel, Bohm and Bauer and the dusky grafts of Moon Blast year, Basso’s well tended imprint begins 2016 with an antipodean gem. The green fingered, or thumbed, among you might recognise A.R.T. Wilson from his time in the Growing Bin a while back, when he soothed ourcares with the drifting dreamscape of ‘Overworld’. Now the sometime club menace returns to Hamburg’s finestlabel in the company of numerical pioneer Eleventeen Eston AKA John Tanner for another journey into the heartof the horizontal. Setting up camp where the Swan River meets the Indian Ocean, Wilson and Tanner tuned intonature, translating the warm sun, sea air and blue sky into a postcard from paradise. Lithe clarinet dances aroundtranquil piano, relaxed guitar decorates velvet synth textures and unhurried percussion makes an occasional appearance,as if to remind us that time’s still passing. Employing an innovative alfresco recording technique, Andyand John invited members of the local animal community to join their jam sessions, saving a Blue SwimmerCrab from the flames of the barbecue and encouraging him to claw the ivories. Drop the needle and drift awayon the distant ocean of “Pilot”, freefall into the soothing ambience of ‘Further Than Your Headlights’, and let“Sun Room” guide you gently back to terra firma. The dream team of Australian musicians (not to mention a verytalented crustacean), come together on one vinyl – and it’s better than you could possibly imagine.

Like master painters exploring a subject over a lifetime’s work, Kevin Martin and Dylan Carlson – The Bug and Earth, respectively – have each been mining and defining their genres for more than 20 years. They’re united by an interest in – really an obsession with – heaviness. They search for, examine and break the boundaries between beautiful and ugly, minimal and maximal, light and dark – but The Bug and Earth always make music that is heavy in the most thrilling of ways. The record’s beautiful, chiming melodies are like shards of sonic light, glowing in currents of heavy bass darkness. There are pulsing soundscapes, ambient pinks and whites, and irresistible grooves. This is music that grips you entirely, and catches you in its lava-flow – an astonishing, primal album of vast depth. In making it, Martin decided to break from The Bug’s obsessive study of groove, tone and texture, and think more cinematically. The result is a wondrously visual album, akin to finding oneself wandering amongst the rocky red hills of the Californian deserts. In fact, he says, the album could be understood as reflecting a ‘mistrust of “Hollywoodisms,” and the shadow of Hollywood fantasy that looms large over life in LA, and the USA in general. “Dylan’s a master at amplifying the flavour of America,” he says, “but not the side we see in this Trump climate.” For Martin, the “American dream is like a nightmare under Trump” but Dylan captures the “best side of that dream, a utopian openess.”“I hear the writing of Cormac McCarthy in his music. His playing conjures deserts, and wide open spaces.’ In “Concrete Desert,” Earth’s sonic landscapes, its far horizons and vast spaces, are underpinned and propelled by Martin’s ear-worming rhythms and percussive genius.

You Know What It’s Like is an album for inbetween days, and occupies inbetween states: plain-speaking pop, disorientated by dub. Psychedelic folk delivered with (post-)punk economy. Drifting in space while still tethered to the ground. Astral tones blurred with earth sounds: wood, bone, breath, skin, dirt. Ending and beginning, dying and becoming. Longing for adventure and an unquiet life. Struggling to get out of bed. This is Carla dal Forno’s debut solo album, following time in cult Melbourne group Mole House and an earlier association with Blackest Ever Black as a member of F ingers and Tarcar. Her voice is an extraordinary instrument: both disarmingly conversational and glacially detached. It has something of the bedsit urbanity of Anna Domino, Marine Girls, Antena, or Helen Johnstone - stoned and deadpan - but it can also summon a gothic intensity that Nico or Kendra Smith would approve of. This voice is the perfect embodiment of dal Forno's emotionally ambiguous songs: their lyrics rooted in the everyday, observing and exposing a series of uncomfortable truths. This voice asks difficult questions of singer, subject, and sung-to.And of course there are no simple answers. Singles ‘Fast Moving Cars’ and ‘What You Gonna Do Now?’ weigh up claustrophobia against loneliness, inertia against acceleration, doubling down versus taking off; the title track acknowledges the provisional nature of love and “real” intimacy, then decides to brave it anyway. By the time we arrive at the startlingly sparse ‘The Same Reply’, the impermanence of all things is something that can no longer be tolerated, and the sense of dejection is absolute. The vocal-led pieces are interspersed with richly evocative instrumentals, like Eno’s Another Green World reimagined in shades of brown and blue. Smothered in tape-hiss and reverb, the seasick synthesizer miniatures ‘Italian Cinema’ and ‘Dragon Breath’ channel the twilit DIY whimsy of Flaming Tunes and Call Back The Giants. ‘DB Rip''s drum machine and bassline are pure Chicago house, but then its dark choral drones nod to Dalis Car's dreams of blood-spattered Cornwall stone. ‘Dry The Rain’ drinks from a stream of eldritch, home-brewed moon musick that runs through Coil, In Gowan Ring, Third Ear Band, even the Raincoats’ Odyshape, and into the woods.

Die Tödliche Doris was born out of West Berlin’s lively post-punk community in the early ‘80s. Along with Einstürzende Neubauten, Malaria, Sprung Aus Den Wolken and Frieder Butzmann, Die Tödliche Doris ranks amongst the Geniale Dilletanten – which roughly translates as “ingenious dilettantes” – who sought to democratize cultural productions beyond the grip of both Western capitalism and GDR socialism. The Geniale Dilletanten became synonymous with a free-for-all approach to music, film, painting and performance where participants encouraged raw expression through provocation and experimentation. Wolfgang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen founded Die Tödliche Doris in 1980, presenting the public persona of Doris as a constantly shifting entity that deliberately engaged the contradictions of the human condition. The band often referenced themselves in the third person singular, alluding to Doris as a fully-formed female character with explosive, colorful emotions. For her debut album – originally released on Zickzack in 1982 and playfully titled " " (that is, blank space surrounded by quotation marks) – Doris most closely entertains the notion of a typical rock band with drums, bass and guitar. Produced by Neubauten’s Blixa Bargeld, the thirteen songs presented here are disquieting lullabies of profound anxiety, savage and primitive deconstructions of German polka and manic lacerations of punk minimalism: all reflections of the many and fractured personalities of Doris. This first-time vinyl reissue includes a reproduction of the original 24-page booklet. Limited edition of 500 numbered copies on clear vinyl.

This anthology brings to light the music of Robert Aeolus Myers, featuring recordings from 1982 to 2006 that were previously available only on cassette or CD. The music within 'A Retrospective' tells the story of a man whose music elevates its listeners to a place of inspiration and enlightenment. Often ethereal, Aeolus’ music is driven by synthesizers, melodic flutes, sweeping patterns, and subtle rhythms to seed inspiration from deep within the listener. One might assume that Aeolus carved a new path for electronic music in Hawaii, but the islands never quite fully embraced the burgeoning New Age scene that Aeolus found himself a part of during the 1980s and the early 1990s. Few artists in Hawaii have produced a body of work, let alone embarked on a musical journey, such as the one that Aeolus has created. For Aloha Got Soul, this release marks a new chapter of bringing rare and relatively unknown music of Hawaii to the surface.

Gabriel S. Schray is a producer and musician living Stateside in Akron, Ohio, a city of 200,000 people. He's been making and putting out music for years, though save for an LP on Bark & Hiss in 2012, most of his work has been self-released. For his latest album he's partnered with Last Resort, a brand new London-based label born from the NTS Radio show of the same name. *Gabriel* is a sunny, mellow record, rich with light and emotion. None of its eight tracks are easily confined to any one genre, floating somewhere between ambient, new age and whatever style or sound you'd ascribe to The Durutti Column or Talk Talk. On a more modern tip, think Suzanne Kraft or Lord Of The Isles (minus the kick drums). Schray played all the various instruments himself, whittling down the final versions from their lengthy original recordings. The whole thing took him more than a year to complete-a labour of love assembled organically and with feeling.

Yugoslavian Space Program
LP | 2016 | EU | Original (Discom)

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Yugoslavian Space Program is the first ever electronic space music themed record from former Yugoslavia. It spans the period between 1981 and 2015 and is a result of long-term research by Discom record label as a part of their ultimate effort to present undiscovered electronic music from this part of Europe. The compilation is made in collaboration with yugo artists, whose work is already highly appreciated by record collectors and DJs worldwide. The album opens with two tracks from the Slovenian synth pioneer Miha Kralj: "Robot"– a very obscure, a la Rockets experimental electronica, and "Juh-Hu"– his recently rediscovered space gem. Next two are the previously unreleased, but surprisingly good tracks of the Serbian band Oskarova Fobija: "Izmedju Dve Kapi Znoja" (Between Two Drops of Sweat), a floating 80's synth space song, and "Mayan Spacecraft", a dancy instrumental featuring Akai's ubiquitous Shakuhachi flute patch.Equally interesting, the B-side showcases influences of the Berlin school of electronic music. First, by the legendary group Beograd’s "Eenterstallar", which is a Klaus Schulze-like psychedelic contemplation, and their second song reminiscent of 70's krautrock masters like Tangerine Dream, "Mozak Primopredajnik" (Brain Sender Receiver). However, the highlight of this compilation comes from Digitron, a Serbo- Croatian group formed by Zoran Jevtic (of Sizike, Data, and Master Scratch Band) and Andre Koy. Like their heroes the Kraftwerk, these guys excel in forging their unique synth sound. Their song “Digital Minds” is a perfect dystopian vision of a future society, while the equally electrifying track “Kosmos”, akin to many Kraftwerk songs, draws its inspiration on the Soviet technology and culture. The distinctive characteristic of featured recordings is the fact that all sounds and patches are synthesized and manually programmed, without extensive use of commercial samples or drum loops. In addition, the entire concept of this meticulously devised compilation, from its music selection to sound design and artwork, covers a wealth of messages and symbols of the time in some detail. On the record cover, along with sketches of Yugoslavian scientists and astronautic pioneers, whose ideas were way ahead of their time, you will also find communist-era sculptures, monuments and buildings depicted as flying crafts or celestial objects. The goal to present Yugoslavian space electronic music in much broader context – as a result of perception and aspirations of generations of those who grew up and lived in Yugoslavia – is more than perfectly captured in this release. The fact that the country itself does not exist anymore and that this kind of music is thus impossible to create again makes this record even more significant today.

A darwīš is a religious monk dedicating his entire existence to the advancement of faith and meditation. Although he believes in Allah, he can be described predominantly as a mystic. Refraining from any form of material wealth and even societal appreciation, holy enlightenment is his true aim. After finishing up their semester at University, Nicolas and Jonas – or Parra for Cuva & Senoy – decided to pack all their gear into their camper and go on a road-trip down to the eastern coast of Spain. The car filled with all kinds of gear, from synths to speakers, guitars, and percussions amongst other tools and toys, three creative weeks ensued, creating music with a view out to the sea. While taking everything in and doing daily trips, the two were able to create enough song ideas in three weeks to spent the rest of the year at home in the studio to finish all arrangements and mixes.Inspired by the Spanish way of life in a small and historically rich port town, a stark contrast to life Berlin, and soaking up diverse musical influences, the individual titles are highly personal and reflect on specific emotions or intimate experiences.During the arrangement of the title-song, the percussion track was accidentally dragged to infinity, which resulted in a trance inducing meditative sound that gave them the idea for the title. Watching turkish dervish dancers while listening should therefore enhance the listening experience.

Acid Pauli is a name synonymous with certain aesthetic towards electronic music culture - both a part of the unhooked generation of that grew up experiencing his revelatory sets at places like Bar 25 and Fusion, and yet deeply rooted in musicality and adventurousness. BLD, the second full album from Martin Gretschmann, (aka Acid Pauli), builds on his already impressive back catalogue which spans back to 2005, and includes a debut album released on Nicolas Jaar's Clown and Sunset. Over the course of the eight tracks here, Gretschmann explores some of the many facets that have made him one of the most trusted artists in his field. Released on his own (and Nico Stojan's) label Ouïe - the album is the perfect expression of the imprint's commitment to diverse, exciting sounds, freed of the conventions of traditional club music. The album covers a number of moods and emotions, from dystopian carnivalesque vibes to moments of high intensity, through to deep melancholia and synth laden ambience. Gretschmann's well documented love of the sampler shines throughout - tracks are textured and colored with different hues from his extensive sound palette, whether it's a part of his more psychedelic moments, or concentrated on his innate knowledge of dancefloor dynamics. As such BLD sits together as a complete piece of music - to be relished just as much by blissed out home listeners as the left-field dancers.

“After finishing our ambient concept album Lulin, we started thinking about how to implement some of that music into our live set, which has always been more dance orientated. So we started by taking out a small piece from the Lulin music and made it into more of a danceable tune, which we found worked really well. Then we figured, why don’t we do this with a few more pieces from Lulin? And that was the birth of LNLNN – a mini album derived from bits and pieces of the music from Lulin.”

Before Disco, and before the transcendent echoes, Arthur wanted to be a composer. His journey began in 1972, leaving home in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Heading west to Northern California, Arthur studied Indian classical composition at the Ali Akbar Khan College of Music followed by western orchestral music at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, before ending two years later in New York at the Manhattan School of Music.Traversing the popular and the serious, Arthur composed “Instrumentals” in 1974, inspired by the photography of his Buddhist teacher, Yuko Nonomura, as Arthur described, “I was awakened, or re-awakened to the bright-sound and magical qualities of the bubblegum and easy-listening currents in American popular music”.Initially intended to be performed in one 48 hour cycle, “Instrumentals” was in fact only performed in excerpts a handful of times as a work in progress. The legendary performances captured live in New York at The Kitchen (1975 and 1978) and Franklin St. Arts Center (1977) feature the cream of that eras downtown new music scene including Ernie Brooks, Rhys Chatham, Julius Eastman, Jon Gibson, Peter Gordon, Garrett List, Andy Paley, Bill Ruyle, Dave Van Tieghem, and Peter Zummo.Pitchfork lauded “Instrumentals” Vol. 1 as a masterpiece and one of Arthur’s “greatest achievements”. Americana touching on Copeland, Ives, and maybe even Brian Wilson. “Instrumentals” Vol. 2 is a moving, deeply pastoral work performed by the CETA Orchestra and conducted by Julius Eastman. Also included are two of Arthur’s most elusive compositions, Reach One, and Sketch For “Face Of Helen”. Recorded live in 1975 at Phill Niblock’s Experimental Intermedia Foundation, Reach One is a minimal, hypnotic ambient soundscape written and performed for two Fender Rhodes pianos. Sketch For “Face Of Helen” was inspired by Arthur’s work with friend and composer Arnold Dreyblatt, recorded with an electronic tone generator, keyboard and ambient recordings of a rumbling tugboat from the Hudson River. For this remastered vinyl edition, a key part of Arthur’s musical life has been restored. The sparkling, multidimensional results take the listener closer to Arthur’s coast-to-coast journey: his iconoclastic determination to combine pop and art music; and his desire to make music that would resonate in the present and, ultimately, across time. The remastered double LP comes with a 12-page booklet including liner notes by Tim Lawrence, Ernie Brooks and Arthur Russell.

The Land of Look Behind soundtrack returns to vinyl in a remastered and expanded edition that includes a download of three previously unheard and unreleased tracks from the original sessions. Alan Greenberg, who wrote and directed this film documenting the funeral of Bob Marley, provided K. Leimer with location tapes which were used to originate many of the rhythmic patterns for Land of Look Behind. Loops of the monologues and phrases that exhibited more distinctive cadences and pacing, the words, glottal stops, clicks and coughs of witnesses were used as cues for the percussion instruments. In effect, speech became the organizing principle of the musical score. By eliminating the accuracy of click tracks, musicians were prompted to rove through the inconsistent intervals of the voice-derived patterns. Also included is a four-page insert featuring an essay by Paul Dickow. K. Leimer founded Palace of Lights in 1979. Leimer’s early work has recently been reissued by Autumn and RVNG, and his early cassette work is in the critically acclaimed VOD box set American Cassette Culture. Leimer has been actively producing music since the mid 1970s — his current catalog includes seventeen albums plus two collaborative albums with Marc Barreca. Leimer’s work is included in the collection of The British Library.

Everywhere At The End of Time is the first in a series of Six albums by The Caretaker to be released over the next 3 years, slowly cataloguing the stages of early onset dementia. Each album will reveal new points of progression, loss and disintegration, progressively falling further and further towards the abyss of complete memory loss and nothingness...Viewing dementia as a series of stages can be a useful way to understand the illness, but it is important to realise that this only provides a rough guide to the progress of the condition.Drawing on a recorded history of 20 years of recollected memories this is one final journey and study into recreating the progression of dementia through sound. As the first in the series, and despite its typically frayed loop construction, this volume is the most lucid, as subsequent instalments will continue to move into faded obscurity and material erosion. .How will The Caretaker sound falling apart ? What if anything will be remembered and recalled from its past history ? How will it all end ?

Having released this debut EP last Summer on the record label / psychedelic familia that is Multi Culti, Irish-born mystic Peter Power now joins the Polychrome ranks with the proper hold-it-in-your-hands vinyl release of JUNGLES OF UFORDIA. Peter made a name for himself in Berlin as resident and booker at Kleine Reise and subsequently Loftus Hall. Out of this flowered a network of connections that have made him a cult DJs DJ. After a wholesome 5 years in Berlin, and with the jungle in his sights, he continued his journey to Brasil, where he currently drifts within the chaotic harmony of the VOODOOHOP collective, home to other favourites such as Thomash, Urubu Marinka and Carrot Green. Jungles of Ufordia presents a trip into an experimental universe, into the dark realm of sacred light, an esoteric space between familiar realities, the place of paradox and cosmic birth. Expect rainforest recordings snuggling up to saturated slow-mo beats and beautiful bass lines!

Only 1 copy per customer!Emotional Response and Golf Channel come together to release a special collaboration between Montezumas Rache's Christian Pannenborg (Record Loft) and Jan Schulte (Muller/ Bufiman) and legendary krautrock guitarist Dominik Von Senger (The Phantom Band / Dunkelziffer).A meeting out of the love of vinyl, where Panneborg hails Von Senger to source Phantom Band rarities and an idea of working together was born. Following the success of the percussive heavy debut Wu Du Wu on Second Circle, the return to the studio for Christian and Jan Schulte and this resultant EP is a true coming together of cross-generational minds.Unfolding across 3 songs of subtly and beauty; mood, structure and atmospherics form in a post-Balearic meets psychedelic haze.Lilting piano start before dub bass and Dominik's refrain melts its way in Rheinfahren. Voids open, minds expand, felds walked, oceans crossed, seas parted, wind pushes against the face, rolling hills, cloudy skies, sun, sand, love, lost, found, deeper and deeper it goes in to your soul. The uber flow continues at a slower pace with Tangerine (Krauter Mix) taking things down but carrying the interplay between artist's continues as if made for each other. Guitar hooks in multiple layers, finger clicks, pots 'n pans vibes gently taking you from Formentara to Tisno, Malibu, Tulum or wherever your heart lies restful. Finally, Guten Morgen Bromio is the (bro)mance to end any affair. Hip Hop roots, Jan's mouth-harp underlaying, Dominik's licks and Christian's dub fx laiden 'Spector' commandments shuffle together until group vocals bring them finally to completion.A wonderful EP bringing together 3 artists and 2 labels for the love of music.

Hanyo van Oosterom lived in the small cave of the Kallikatsou in the early eighties, finding inspiration there for the Chi project (1983-1986). From the nineties to 2006 he created drones, loops, samples and soundscapes, traveling numerous times annually back and forth to the Kallikatsou for fine-tuning. With the Original Recordings and Bamboo Recordings, both strongly connected to the Kallikatsou, creating the perfect timeframe, "the circle [is] closed. Together these recordings reflect and express the different aspects of the experience. A trilogy of random dream-catching over 30 years."

New LP from Gigi Masin, Jonny Nash and Young Marco. Highly Recommended! In the spring of 2016, Gigi Masin, Jonny Nash and Marco Sterk got together in the studio for the first time since they recorded Clouds, the critically acclaimed debut album from their Gaussian Curve project.By the time they reconvened in Sterk’s new studio in Amsterdam, a stone’s throw away from the temporary, second-?floor space where they recorded Clouds, much had changed. When they first got together in March 2014, it was for a spontaneous, weekend-?long exploration of shared musical passions. They were merely three new friends expressing themselves, and having huge amounts of fun in the process.By the time they got together again last year, the album they recorded on that famous weekend had taken on a life of its’ own. To their surprise and delight, Clouds had become one of the most admired ambient albums of the 21st century. They’d initially reconvened in the studio to rehearse for their first live performances. It soon become clear that all three members were brimming with ideas for new Gaussian Curve material. Over the four days that followed, and fuelled by the same spontaneous working method that drove Clouds, a new album began to take shape. Although their methodology remained the same, the inspirations were different. Whereas Clouds was intimate by design, The Distance reflects more on spaciousness, distance and time. It is instantly recognizable as a Gaussian Curve record, but feels different in scope and tone. The Distance is a different musical beast to its’ predecessor, but shares the same timeless, emotion-?rich feel that made Clouds such a hit. While the fundamental ingredients remain the same – Masin’s masterly piano and synthesizer work, Nash’s blissful, meandering guitar

It's no secret that Idle Hands is a label built on a foundation of dub. From the earliest releases by Pev, Kowton and Szare through to more recent output from O$VMV$M and Christian Jay, the influence of Bristol's soundsystem heritage looms large in the myriad electronic music threads the label encompasses. Sometimes this influence is explicit, other times implied, but the principles of sub heavy, spacious music for both body and mind guide the stylistic arc of the label as a direct result of the label's long time immersion in roots and dub culture.Andy Mac is an artist who echoes this spirit more acutely than most. His innate understanding of dub comes from a life spent collecting and playing the music, both as part of the Falling Up collective and as a DJ on his own terms. This influence has been felt in his previous productions, not least on theRegular & Irregulardoublepack he released on Idle Hands back in 2013.Now Andy makes a welcome return to Idle to kick off a new series under the banner ofDiving Bird. So named after the avian population off the coast of his native Cornwall, these new productions are the result of a fertile creative period since taking some time out from the low end thrum of Bristol life. With sound sources including field recordings from multiple trips to West Africa, the series is the most pronounced distillation of his pure-hearted passion for dub, making a natural progression from the more mechanical angles of his previous work to fall into an pulse that refigures the pioneering work of Tubby, Perry et al in a modern context. The meditative lilt of "Longships" sports whispers of Basic Channel in its strafing chord stabs, but there's a more organic, roots-minded finish to the percussion that stands distinct from contemporary dub techno. "HorseFlyDub" places steppers energy alongside haunting atmospherics, coming on both sprightly and introspective in the same beat. "10" pushes out into more experimental realms, weaving fragments of weather systems and folk musicians into a dreamlike beatless reverie that aligns with the recent forays into ambient music that Idle Hands has undertaken.Striking a balance between distinct personality and deeply rooted authenticity, the first volume ofDiving Bird marks another bold step forward for Andy Mac, an artist who shifts his stance with each release and makes it sound completely natural.

The enigmatic Tennessee-raised, Turin-based Yves Tumor presents a poignant new album, recorded between Miami, Leipzig, Los Angeles and Berlin over the past three years.Evolved from a diverse and prolific creative history under an expansive plethora of covert aliases via various forward-thinking labels, ‘Yves Tumor’ emerges as his most personal and matured incarnation to date. With involvement across various artistic outlets expanding to fashion such as a visceral live performance for LA’s Hood By Air earlier this year, the global artist has built a distinctly bold personal aesthetic both musically and visually as a performer.Painstakingly written from pieces developed upon since 2013, the new record, titled ‘Serpent Music’, was initially composed as a soul record – based around delicate and emotive songwriting in various forms. It was a highly difficult project to undertake on both a creative and personal level, weaving thematic links through paranoia, social anxiety, and missing loved ones. “The songs come from a much more emotional and very vulnerable place… They’re very close to me and I’ve been cautious of how I would eventually present them to the world.” he explains. The album spans sonically diverse and richly-textured pieces, formed from live, organic instruments, samples and various field recordings. Dreamlike lo-fi psychedelia sits alongside broken electronic experimentations, ambient compositions between abrasive noise offer insight into a haunting otherworld. From melodic choral vocals and soaring synths, to screeching guitar riffs, dramatic spoken word samples and live drumming, ‘Serpent Music’ evidently moves through a strange and intriguing personal journey. The album is mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D&M, featuring photography by Daniel Sannwald.

All My Circles Run is the third full-length release by Montreal-based electro-acoustic composer Sarah Davachi and her second outing for Students of Decay. In a move which may surprise followers of her previous output, the five compositions on this record eschew synthesizer entirely, each focusing on a different instrument, including strings, voice, organ and piano. What remains consistent, however, is her striking attention to detail and a commitment to tonal possibilities that characterize all of her work. The sinewy “For Strings” opens the album, with keening overtones stretching out in all directions to form a massive, slow-moving, radiant sound. “For Voice” charts an even more celestial course, as wordless vocals ebb and flow to awe-inspiring effect. The stunning, melancholic “For Piano” closes the record and is a high watermark in Davachi’s oeuvre, with plaintive piano figures nestled atop a shimmering string drone to create a rich, reverent atmosphere. All My Circles Run is a step forward from an exciting artist whose compositional and aesthetic tendencies steer her steadfastly toward both the subjunctive and the sublime.

‘The Aura‘ and the belief in it can be found in almost all cultures in one form or another. Often signifying fields of energy and spirituality, an aura is a luminous radiational halo surrounding a person or object. It is said that all objects and all living things manifest such an aura. In other respects the aura has also been described as a map of the thoughts and feelings surrounding a person.Pieced together from sounds and samples from all over the globe, the album’s aim is to charge listeners with harmony and a feeling of connectedness to the world. Reflecting on his own attitude towards life and the importance of inner balance, Pavel attempts to share some of the spiritual experiences he made while traveling. The lengthy process of creation included numerous reworks of each track and intensive listening sessions in order to keep the balance between the essential details and those that are redundant to the album’s atmosphere. The album includes collaborations with old friends like Mujuice, Graciela Maria as well as some newly added artists – L.A. rapper BLU, Starving Yet Full – ex-vocalist from Azari III and Mitia Dedoni, who created the haunting album cover.‘The Aura‘ comes out worldwide on limited grey-marbled vinyl (including download code).

Coming this winter via the Berlin, Germany label Project: Mooncircle, is KRTS’s second full-length LP, Close Eyes to Exit. Inspired by recent world events, each of the album’s 12 tracks dwell upon the world we live in now, a world struggling to rid itself of corruption, hate, bigotry, and ignorance. The resulting record is equal parts raw, emotional, dense, and danceable. This is KRTS at his creative peak.“White Privilege” is a perfect example. Elegant melodies and a speedy jungle beat will have you bopping your head without a care in the world.“My Head is Jumpin’” features Charles Larson and Tito Ramsey of the Brooklyn-based indie-pop act, Legs. The track is a biting meditation on our internal struggles and the many different bodies that encase them. How do we process the hurt, the pain, and the unreal? How do we manage these feelings living inside of us?“Serve and Protect” features Sacramento MC Mad Flows. It speaks to the media’s portrayal of death in the black community as an unjustly “normal” occurrence. Mad Flows spits out fear, rage, and loss—a direct response to the policing of America.Your head will spin. Move to the rhythm within the chaos and let it lead you through. Your head is jumping. The world is bigger than you or I. Keep moving. Turn up the volume. Close your eyes. Exit.

One of the most popular releases in 2011, “The Mesektet” by London resident fLako gets the reissue treatment this summer, featuring a quantity of exclusive tracks only to be found on the reissue.‘The Mesektet’, in ancient egyptian mythology, is one of the two solar boats used by the sun god ‘Ra’ to travel through the cycle of night and day and carry the moon across the sky. It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. Just like the sun god, uprising producer fLako uses ‘The Mesektet’ to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth, marking the end of an era in his style of production and move forward into new musical directions, which he already started to explore on his ‘Mini Toolbooth EP’. This release includes a collection of previously unreleased or only digitally available works from the time up until 2008.

Genre:Hip Hop, Electronic / Dance
From its opening notes ‘You, Me, Temporary’ announces itself as music from the soul reaching for the soul. The album recounts a modern day love story through the musical eyes of its protagonist, Sweatson Klank. It’s a story of love in the fast lane that touches on the good – innocence, romance, lust, sex – and the bad – drugs, debauchery, loss of self, despair – before closing with the peaceful beauty that comes with total acceptance of what is. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ is Sweatson Klank’s third full-length album in 10 years, and it shows just how extensive the Los Angeles native’s artistic growth has been. The music tight ropes between electronic, hip hop and futuristic R&B, sidestepping obvious boxes while finding its own effortlessly. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ transcends genres, balancing the vulnerable and sensual with the rough and jagged. The album has an emotive and sometimes pressing quality, in direct opposition to today’s disposable music mania. The hypnotic interplay of chords, melodies and rhythms draws you in and is equally effective in headphones as it is on the dancefloor. The warmth of analogue equipment flirts with expert sampling and chops that evoke the playful soul of ‘90s R&B and the heartfelt angst of classic hip hop while remaining forward thinking.A wide cast of vocal guests help recount the different tales and stages of this story: Vikter Duplaix, Ango, Selfsays, Doc Illingsworth, Deniro Farrar, Anna Wise of Sonny Moon and Pat Parra. Upbeat and energetic songs sit next to hypnotic ballads, the sort most conducive to ‘baby making’ you might even say. The music is often elating, sexy and at times dreamy but also progresses to show melancholy and despondency in the sincerest way. Sometimes playful, sometimes serious the vocal tracks add a human dimension to the story that ‘You, Me, Temporary’ tells, completing its message and taking the album to that proverbial next level. With this third album Sweatson Klank puts aside self-indulgence for simple honesty and the maturity that only comes with being a seasoned artist. ‘You, Me, Temporary’ tells a timeless story in a compelling way, and while its title hints at the trials and tribulations behind relationships, the overt concept lies in the impermanence of everything around us.

From Soviet era hand-drawn animated fairy tales in winterly forrest-landscapes to narratives of urban struggle or even classical tales in dark and gloomy basement bars – let the record spin and your mental cinema flow. This album made it into the radio shows of Mary Anne Hobbs (XFM) as well as Gilles Peterson‘s “All Winners” show on BBC Radio 1, his personal list of favorites of the year 2011, alongside various other highly respected stations across the globe. For the 2012 winter season we decided to give "The Branches" a proper repress treatment, not only pressing a new batch for all our listeners that weren't able to acquire a copy yet but also spicing it up and making it a true collectors item for anyone that already owns a copy. Therefore, the – now gatefold – artwork / transparent 2LP vinyl version, originally drawn by Bioniq was colourized by Roman Pokrovsky and, besides everything being remastered and including new work from Long Arm himself, we also added a second vinyl with various remixes by on the one hand like-minded artists like Hidden Orchestra, Dday One and 40 Winks, with whom Long Arm also shares artistic relationships and friendships, and on the other hand more genre-overarching and experimental remixes from such acclaimed artists as Robag Wruhme, Sieren, Yoko Duo, Berry Weight, Empt and Speck from CYNE, which will surely make for a unique listening experience.

Their productions on compilations of Ninja Tune, SSR and Wall Of Sound are considered mile stones regarding the trip-hop genre and many major companies are trying to release their debut album.Since 1993 the two smart Austrians Peter Kruder & Richard Dorfmeister have been working together as a team and when being asked about their musical roots they name musicians like Miles Davis, Sly Stone, Brian Eno, Serge Gainsbourg or Bill Laswell. Besides this they are great admirers of the Gilles Peterson and Coldcut Radioshow of London’s cult-station Kiss FM, which had a lot of influence on their musical openmindness. Their label G-Stone was able to gain outstanding reputation with its four releases and earned fantastic media reaction in international publications.Besides their outstanding fame as producers both were able to blast even the hippest clubs on this planet with their extravagant DJ-sets. Their breathtaking mixture of trip-hop, dub, ambient and drum’n’bass is supposed to be way-leading thus supporting their cult-status. Smokin’ tracks of Herbalizer, Statik Sound System, Hardfloor, Aquasky, Shantel and others are combined on their DJ-Kicks set, gathering the hottest labels from Ninja to Cheap, from Moving Shadow to Creative Wax. A dub producer helped to remix the entire material making it a thrilling clubsoundtrack for the 90s. By the way, during the work for DJ-Kicks and their debut album they refused doing remixes for U2, Grace Jones, Elvis Costello and the Fantastic Four!
