Genre:Electronic / Dance
Recorded in 1951 but only released in conjunction with the 1962 Seattle World's Fair as the musical accompaniment to the Bubbelator, a transparent, spherical elevator that carried as many as 150 passengers, Attilio Mineo's Man in Space with Sounds remains one of the most foreboding and complex records in the cosmic exotica canon. A dark, dissonant exploration of interstellar travel rooted in the avant-garde ethos of Cage and Stockhausen, this is music that's alien not only in its presentation but also in its orientation, fusing traditional instrumentation and sound effects to the point that one becomes indistinguishable from the other. Electronic elements pulse, hum, and sputter their way to complete domination of Mineo's sonic palette, depicting a bleak, sterile future where mankind gives way to machinery. Man In Space With Sounds is one of those legendary LPs. A rare souvenir of the 1962 Seattle Worlds Fair, this music served as the soundtrack to a ride called the Bubbleator, which transported fair visitors through an overview of the future, a technological utopia where science and space travel promised solutions to all of humanitys plights. Needless to say, that future never arrived and this music (actually recorded in the early 1950s) still sounds as futuristic today as it must have back then. The all-original compositions fall somewhere between nervous Philip Glass and 1950s sci-fi movie music, arranged with string orchestra in a sometimes rhythmic, polyrhythmic, or merely ambient cloud of odd electronic space noises. Despite its intended technological optimism, the music is quite heavy and menacing, and the future ultimately feels pretty scary. Regardless, this recording proves Attilio Mineo to have been an unbelievably progressive and underappreciated composer and arranger. The amazing aural and visual content of this endearing package transcend everything.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Flying Lotus, John Cale, The Mars Volta and Omar Rodriguez Lopez are only some of the big players in music that Deantoni Parks has yet been collaborating with. For more than 20 years now Parks has been working with numerous major league musicians leaving a lasting impression with his characteristic, highly virtuoso but at the same time minimalist style. After years as a drummer in numerous projects, Deantoni Parks is now also successfully releasing material as a solo artist. 2015 marked the release of his solo album “Technoself” on Stones Throw, just four years after his solo debut “Touch But Don’t Look” had been released through Omar Rodriguez Lopez Productions. On here, the band is replaced by electronic instruments, the drums embedded in repetitive but at the same time unpredictable and varied electronic soundscapes. This is Deantoni Parks’ solo debut: electronic music determined by masterly and highly technical live drumming. On the margin between dance floor and avant-garde, Georgia-based drummer Parks expands the borders between musical genres and styles without losing sight of a driving dance beat. What Parks is able to produce by himself with just a synthesizer, a sampler and a drum kit is most impressive. Even though his solo works have developed far from the sound of former collaborations, Parks gives an impressive presentation on this album on how masterly live drumming can be blended in with brute electronic sounds. “Touch But Don’t Look” is now available for the first time. The limited 180g vinyl comes with a digital download of the album.

All My Circles Run
LP | 2016 | US | Original (Students Of Decay)
18,99 €*
Release:2016 / US – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
All My Circles Run is the third full-length release by Montreal-based electro-acoustic composer Sarah Davachi and her second outing for Students of Decay. In a move which may surprise followers of her previous output, the five compositions on this record eschew synthesizer entirely, each focusing on a different instrument, including strings, voice, organ and piano. What remains consistent, however, is her striking attention to detail and a commitment to tonal possibilities that characterize all of her work. The sinewy “For Strings” opens the album, with keening overtones stretching out in all directions to form a massive, slow-moving, radiant sound. “For Voice” charts an even more celestial course, as wordless vocals ebb and flow to awe-inspiring effect. The stunning, melancholic “For Piano” closes the record and is a high watermark in Davachi’s oeuvre, with plaintive piano figures nestled atop a shimmering string drone to create a rich, reverent atmosphere. All My Circles Run is a step forward from an exciting artist whose compositional and aesthetic tendencies steer her steadfastly toward both the subjunctive and the sublime.

Don't be mislead from the name, the enigmatic M. Zalla, is one of the numerous alter ego of the italian maestro Piero Umiliani. Umiliani, during his period of fascination for psychedelic and electronic atmospheres, starts to compose a good number of musical portraits dedicated, as the title reveals, to the problems of his time. We are at the beginning of '70 and italians are worried by mafia, terrorism and social conflicts: so it has sense that the music choosen to represent this anxious problems has a sperimental nature; dark and disturbing a sort of unicum in the long and extremly productive Umiliani career. And if, in 2015, titles as “Mondo in Crisi”, “Problemi Sociali”, “Azione Sindacale” and “Mafia Oggi” sounds still sadly actual, it's even more surprising find that the music of “Problemi d'Oggi” (Today Problems) is projected on the future, sounding still alien and uniques. The record presents various styles: from Pink Floyd atmospheres (or Braen's Machine if you prefer...) to compositions characterized by a great use of drum machines and synthetizer (MOOG and Sinthy). We just have to listen the begginning of the opening track “Produzione” to give sense to the words of Sean Canty (Demdike Stare) that defines the music the first techno/trance track of the history; but between the grooves of this vinyl it's easy to find intuitions that many other artist and musicians – from Residents to Aphex Twin and Four Tet – will be able to catch during their carrers.

Not Waving aka Alessio Natalizia is back. His Human Capabilities album was one of the highlights of the label in 2014, so it seems only right to get 4 artists to create their own unique versions for this EP. Starting with Pye Corner Audio, Martin Jenkins solo proto-electronica project has been a growing success since fist putting his cult tape recordings to vinyl. A great live performance at Cafe Oto got the label wanting more and the recent split LP release with Not Waving on Ecstatic Recordings made a remix inevitible and he does not disappoint. 7 minutes of brooding, slo-mo dub dance s a perfect opening, haunting and searching in equal measure. This is followed by the new project from Valentina Magaletti (Shit & Shine) and Tom Relleen (The Oscillation). Tomaga's recent debut LP Futura Grotesk is a mesh of live expermenation of electronica meets percussive, kosmiche interplay and worth checking. Taking the industrial loops of the original they provide a improvised jam of drums, bass and anything to hand to trip the light fantastic. Perfect. On the flp, we head for the dark corners of a (techno) basement via L/F/D/M's remix of Double Blind. With releases on Optimo Trax and Clan Destine Trax, Richard Smith's project seemed perfect to take on the industrial dance of the original. Stripping things right back, the core of the track is looped incessantly for maximum intensity before far away melodies bring you back again. Finally, the EP closes with a wonderous remix from drone specialist Abul Mogard. With his recent SchleiBen split series LP on the label, Abul is again at his best, taking the melodic ambience of the original and modulating it in to a brooding and emotional remix that is a perfect marraige of the artists minds.

Scattered Into Light is the Mush debut from the Luxembourg based electronic act, Sun Glitters. The eleven-track album remains true to the glitchy r&b and deep tech-house sound that has blasted Sun Glitters into the consciousness of electronic music fans over the last two years. Stuttering beats and wobbling synths are soft-focused through a sun-bleached lens in a way that will appeal to synth-pop, ambient, and dustup fans in equal measure. Scattered Into Light is the first Sun Glitters release to completely integrate a vocalist, as Italian ingenue Sara Cappai lends her talents to over half the tracks. The result is awash with star-gazing melodies, bubbly bass, and textured beats that give equal nod to house and hip-hop. Scattered Into Light is an wonderful release and makes a compelling case for Sun Glitters as a refreshing new artist.

Finally, the homecoming has arrived for the 2012 debut LP from Austin-based electronic quartet S U R V I V E. With a new U.S. vinyl-reissue bringing life back to this modern classic, the band's full spectrum of instrumental synthesizer composition is now available on LP domestically for the first time. After an extensive and rare catalog including 12", 10", and 7" EP's as well as several b-side tapes, the band's debut full-length remains their most ambitious and defining effort, marking the culmination of several years spent recording, honing, and crafting a remarkably intricate balance of song-writing and experimentation. S U R V I V E's dedicated and comprehensive approach to sonic-arrangement is the result of the band's uncompromising standards of quality spread across hundreds of hours in the band's own Omniverse Studios integrating a vast collection of both antique and modern synthesizers. Every element has been meticulously designed and microscopically placed to fulfill it’s macroscopic purpose, ensuring that every audible wave has been exhaustively scrutinized, dissected, and modulated before being allowed to join the mix. This rigorous process of sound design and discretion is reflected on all levels of the album, resulting in a masterfully accomplished and thorough work. Originally released in May 2012 on Berlin-based Mannequin Records. Edition of 1,000 copies on black vinyl.

Dark Entries is excited to reissue a split EP of rare and out of print Detroit Electro jams from Nu Sound II Crew and Magnus II. Both were projects of mastermind Sam Anderson aka DJ Maestro. Growing up on the westside of Detroit, Maestro joined the Marine Corps in 1979 and was turned on to electronic music. One of his fellow Marines was a DJ from Brooklyn who schooled Maestro on how to mix records, blending dance songs seamlessly. While stationed on base in California, he set up a DJ crew called Nu Sounds and perfected his technical skills. He returned to Detroit in 1984 and auditioned for the Electrifying Mojo on WJLB. It was there that he met the Godfather of Techno, Juan Atkins, who introduced him to emerging new sounds of dance & party music. Juan showed him how to make and record music using a Roland 808 and 909, Linn Drum and a Boss DR-55 drum machine. In 1986 Maestro created a new alias for himself, Nu Sound II Crew, by adding a roman numeral II to his former DJ crew name. That year he self-released his first 12″ single “The Speed Of Light” on Sound Wave Records. Only 500 copies were made and distributed by Juan Atkins’ Metroplex Records. Influenced by Kraftwerk and Cybotron, Nu Sound II Crew created fresh, fast, dark electro beats with tough drum machines and lyrics about traveling through outer space. A second single was released that same year, “1001 Beats”, a slower, deep and heavy vocoder track with guitar by Jerome Blackwell that riffs the Batman Theme during the break. By the late 1980s, Maestro was using different alias such as Sam and Dave, Zetta, and Magnus II to make it look like a lot of artists were on his new label Steppin’ Forward Records. Magnus II was named after guitarist Jeff Magnus who plays on the sole 12″ single from the project “Roctronic/Space Age” released in 1993. For this EP reissue, all 3 original mixes of “Space Age” are included: LP Version, Dub, and Remix. “Space Age” blends EBM rhythms with tough drum machine beats to create an electro hybrid somewhere between Belgium and Detroit. All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is specially designed by Eloise Leigh and features original illustrations from 1988 by Kevin Mann of an Egyptian pharaoh “steppin’ forward” and the Roman numeral II. Each copy includes a post card with a photo of the Nu Sounds crew DJing in 1984.

In 1980, Genesis P-Orridge and Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson (then of Throbbing Gristle renown) traveled to New York City to meet up at the fortified apartment, known as The Bunker, of famed beat writer and cultural pioneer William S. Burroughs and his executor James Grauerholz to start the daunting task to compile the experimental sounds works of Burroughs, which, up until that point, had never been heard. During those visits, Burroughs would play back his tape recorder experiments featuring his spoken word “cut-ups”, collaged field recordings from his travels and his flirtations with EVP recording techniques, pioneered by Latvian intellectual Konstantins Raudive. Throughout the next year, P-Orridge, Christopherson and Grauerholz would spent countless hours compiling various edits, each collection showcasing Burroughs sensitive ear and keen experimental prowess for audio anomaly within technical limitations. By the time 1981 came through, Burroughs had relocated to Lawrence, KS in which to escape the violence and mania of New York City life. It is in Lawrence that P-Orridge and Christopherson put the finishing touches on the record that would be known as Nothing Here Now but the Recordings. The album would come out in the Spring of 1981 as the final release for the shuttering Industrial Records, brought about by the dissolution of Throbbing Gristle. The album remained out of print until 1998 when John Giorno and the Giorno Poetry Systems included the album on a multi-disc retrospective CD box set compiling the majority of Burroughs seminal recordings.

"To Nothing But You" ist Avantgarde, surreal und unkonventionell.

When talking about the music of Com Truise (one of the many pseudonyms of New Jersey designer/musician Seth Haley), the nostalgia bit inevitably comes up, so let’s get that out of the way. Yes, his songs tap classic sci-fi and proto-electro in a way that is distinctly early eighties in scope. But they’re also remarkably weird—stutter-step proggy and intoxicatingly psychedelic, like those classic touchstones got drunk on lava lamp juice inside a pinball machine. After his well-received Cyanide Sisters EP, a grip of remixes for artists like Twin Shadow, Neon Indian, and, uh, Daft Punk, and a few floating MP3s, Truise’s first LP, Galactic Melt, will finally enter brainspaces this summer. And what an appropriate title it bears. For a brief moment, opener “Terminal” subsumes you in warm, starry-eyed synth arpeggios, and then down the rabbit hole you go—from the keyed up, skyscraping machine love of “VHS Sex” and “Cathode Girls” to opuses like “Air Cal” and “Ether Drift” that sound like Doogie Howser’s idea of the perfect prom song—mathy, forlorn, funky, and mighty in technical ambition. That they’re all noticeably cinematic is, of course, by design—Haley envisioned Galactic Melt as a “sort of film score…from the mind,” chronicling the lift and death of Com Truise, the world’s first synthetic/robotic astronaut, from his creation and life on earth to his subsequent mission to a newly discovered galaxy called “Wave 1.” Eventually, Truise becomes one with his newfound cosmos, like Pinocchio becoming a real boy, but in the nether regions of imaginary space.Haley says knowing when and how to complete such an opus was the hardest part of making the record, nevermind all the carefully synth programmed patches on his Sequential Circuits Split-8 or the three years of real life that transpired during its genesis. It’s a world unto itself, a sci-fi bildungsroman of sorts, and most importantly, an awesome escape from the corporeal.

ECM-era Don Cherry global jazz meets contemporary electronic avant-garde, true world dance music for the next millennium. With guest turns on every track, Georgia explore a new approach to studio production, incorporating the sounds of world and jazz music into their digital funk and combining and processing improvisation and composed elements to create a unified, distinct voice. This approach can be heard on “Ama Yes Uzume,” as a primally incandescent vocal from Caroline Polachek (Chairlift) blends with glistening waves of piano and synth to form a euphoric rhythm that materializes out of curved air. Blending live performance with sampling and editing, Georgia constantly revise and revisit their work, breaking down, collaging, and refracting sounds. On lead track “Slow Dance,” vocals by performance artist India Menuez waft over a loping bass line (sampled from a performance by Matt Werth of RVNG) while digital flutes cluster in the background. The outcome is a kind of new age mutant funk, not unlike the sound of Annette Peacock or 23 Skidoo jamming in the studio with Jon Hassell. Additional collaborators include avant-garde harpist Mary Lattimore, saxophonist Wednesday Knudsen, and Gabonese vocalist Abang Essone Sarah Maya. As the title suggests, this is music of many multitudes.

Monochord are Vienna-based musicians Bernhard Hammer and Jakob Schneidewind, two thirds of Elektro Guzzi, though Monochord paints a different picture. Electroacoustic experiments and filmic elements define the music that develops instinctively yet irrevocably, a sense of forward motion setting them apart. Compositionally minimal, these tracks maximize their inherent potential all the way through to their logical and even illogical end. Referencing electronica, ambient, shoegaze and at times modern classical harmonics, Monochord builds and unbuilds in a slow heartbeat. Introspective and filmic, its quiet and non-confrontational nature makes Monochord move in the interzone between various spheres. Their music escapes definition and that is its truest definition. Its subtle pulse and evocative and drony feel invite and inspire.

It's time to celebrate! At catalogue number 20 Uncanny Valley extends its compilation-concept to 12 tracks spread over three records. Part 3 starts with a bang and ''In der Weltraumdiskothek'' by mysterious Dresden based producer DC Production. If you've ever wondered what music would be played at the night club of the Ewoks this tune might be the answer. ''Nuthin Wrong Here'' is Scherbe to the bone with his stumbling beats, dirty synths and heartbreaking samples. We also have a big heart for Disco here at the valley and this is proven by Sandrow M & K_Chico who put a smile on our face with catchy guitar licks, bouncy bass lines and cheesy vocals. ''Space Dancer'', what more could you desire? Finally, Filburt from Leipzig brings things down to a peaceful end with his slightly melancholic ''My Time''. Free download included.

Apparel Music return with the introduction of a brand new sub label - Apparel Tronic. The intention for this new division of sound is to shift focus towards UK-rooted Beats, Nu-Jazz, Downtempo and Jungle - a collection of styles the label like to term ‘Bliss-Beat'. This treasured and futile basis of influence gives rise to Giuseppe D'Alessandro a.k.a KiSK and Ludovico Schilling SCHiLLiNG's new project which they inaugurate with the ‘Hella' LP from SCHiLLiNG himself: a collection UKindebted dance tracks that meld influences from Jungle, Breaks and Hip Hop. Originally born in Milan - Schilling relies on a process he likes to describe as ‘contamination' of sound which entails the layering of field recordings and the sounds of his home environment with those of synths, real instruments and samples. This approach brands a clear stamp on his productions and enables him to create a truly singular strand of dance music and it's this that glues together the 9 disparate tracks of Hella. Moving from the cascading breaks of the LP's introduction ‘Anarcoide' to the woozy and textural ‘Black Lighter' - the album begins to build a spectral mood as it progresses. Tracks such as ‘Flesh Is Weak' and ‘Madting' draw influence from the golden-era of Bristol's Trip-Hop while tracks such as ‘Snooker Club' and ‘Viejos' delve into more caliginous, IDM territory. The result is a rich and varied collection that demonstrates Apparel Music's unwavering ability to continue to keep listeners guessing.

And here comes Cerebellum, Nervum and Cortex, three delicate operations of surgery on the inner workings of Fango’s head. Part 2 of a trilogy that Fango conceived on the physicality of music, tracks that are going straight to your heart, to your stomach and so on. In this case it’s your brain and we hope to give you a nervous breakdown. Enjoy.

Hype Williams' Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland have released a lot of albums in the last couple of years - few of them better than their untitled 2010 effort for Carnivals - so you could be forgiven for not keeping count. But the truth is that this record, their first for Kode9's Hyperdub, is one of their most haunting and vividly realised to date. Copeland's sighing vocals are worth the price of admission alone, particularly when riding DIY footwork rhythms ('12') or or playing at pure pop ('2'). Apart from opener '(Venice Dreamway)', the track titles are all numeric, so we'll spare you any more specific references - suffice to say that across the album you get plenty of creepy keyboard reveries, warped vocal loops, miasmic synths and sub-low baselines. It's Hype Williams, you kind of have some idea of what you're going to get beforehand, but they generate such a mystifying, almost alchemical blend of sounds that they just get us every single time. It's hard to isolate what it is exactly, but lurking somewhere behind their broken keyboards and tape decks is something profoundly moving and beautiful. Reissued now!

Teenage Jesus & The Jerks
Live 1977-1979
LP | 2015 | US | Original (Other People)

Release:2015 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie, Electronic / Dance
Teenage Jesus and the Jerks began to formulate their visionary brand of aural catharsis sometime during the first half of 1977, amidst the sordid ruins of a then fully down-and-out Lower Manhattan. The mastermind behind this juggernaut of sonic libertinage was a barely pubescent but world-weary runaway who called herself Lydia Lunch. Influenced strongly by the Marquis de Sade and Henry Miller, Lunch shrewdly decided to graft the existential horror of her own writing onto harsh, atonal music after being exposed to the room-clearing live output of other contemporary rock-music deconstructionists like Suicide and Mars. With an agenda of conjuring nightmarish intensity in lieu of technical instrumental ability, Teenage Jesus instantly made the supposedly "nihilistic” and "raw” current wave of so-called Punk acts sound like slick, good-timey pop music by comparison. Teenage Jesus and the Jerks were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, lisa, She Wolf of the SS, and Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom, transliterated into a blatant mockery of the increasingly tired, basic rock-band format. Posthumously, there have been numerous reissues of the primary Teenage Jesus corpus, namely the first side of the Lydia Lunch double compilation album Hysterie (CD Presents, 1986), a very incomplete anthology titled Everything (Atavistic, 1995) and Shut Up and Bleed (Cherry Red/Atavistic, 2008), which also featured Beirut Slump tracks. These less-than-fastidious documents contained reverb-laden transcriptions of the studio cuts directly from vinyl copies, as well as random live tracks of mediocre fidelity. This particular collection about to be released on Other-People is meticulously edited and mastered from rare bootlegs taped during the initial 1977-1979 period of classic band, and only one title (Crown of Thorns from January 17,1979) has been legitimately released to date, albeit in a completely different sound quality.

Instrumental psychedelic hip-hop hybrid Lilacs & Champagne spent their first two albums shining a light on the darkest corners of vintage European cinematic oddities. Their eponymous debut album and the follow-up, Danish & Blue, were warped, psychedelic takes on damaged funk and b-movie film scores. With their palette now thoroughly smeared, coconspirators Emil Amos and Alex Hall are flirting with the makings of a masterpiece in Midnight Features Vol. 2: Made Flesh. From the mournful opening breaths of “Roses & Kisses” – a new career high point for the band – it’s obvious they are charting a dynamic new course that simultaneously pays tribute to and explodes the legendary beatmakers that came before. Midnight Features Vol. 2 skins traditional hip-hop to its bones, then builds it back up with the flesh of Eastern European private press psych records, obscure film soundtracks, indistinguishable radio broadcasts, library tapes, and who knows what else from who knows where else. The most remarkable feat of Midnight Features Vol. 2 is not the impressive array of sound sources, but how Lilacs have managed to orchestrate so many seemingly disparate genres into one cohesive future music. They execute sudden changes in mood and tone with uncanny dexterity and grace – a feat made more impressive by their newly expanded line-up that includes Jay Clarke (Ash Black Bufflo) and Zac Reno. They’ve clearly found their groove, and they’re just starting to dig in.

Notes on Cruel Optimism from Lawrence English, October 2016...Cruel Optimism is a record that considers power (present and absent). It meditates on how power consumes, augments and ultimately shapes two subsequent human conditions: obsession and fragility. This pyramid is an affective ecology of the (ever)present moment. This edition owes its title and its origins to the wonderful text of the same name by American theorist Lauren Berlant. I had the fortune to come across her writing almost a half-decade ago. In Cruel Optimism, I found a number of critical readings around the issues that have fuelled so much of the music I have been making recently. Beyond her keen analysis of the relations of attachment as they pertain to conditions of possibility in the everyday, it was particularly her writing around trauma I found deeply affecting. It was a jumping off point from which a plague of unsettling impressions of suffering, intolerance and ignorance could be unpacked and utilised as fuel over and above pointless frustration. When I made Wilderness Of Mirrors, clouds of unease were overhead. As I have worked through Cruel Optimism, what seemed an unimaginable future just a few years prior, began to present as actual. Over the course of creating the record, we collectively bore witness to a new wave of humanitarian and refugee crisis (captured so succinctly in the photograph of Alan Kurdi’s tiny body motionless on the shore), the black lives matter movement, the widespread use of sonic weapons on civilians, increased drone strikes in Waziristan, Syria and elsewhere, and record low numbers of voting around Brexit and the US election cycle, suggesting a wider sense of disillusionment and powerlessness. Acutely for me and other Australians, we’ve faced dire intolerance concerning race and continued inequalities related to gender and sexuality. The storm has broken and feels utterly visceral.Cruel Optimism is a meditation on these challenges and an encouragement to press forward towards more profound futures.

Following on from their storming first single Run You, which featured on the worldwide trailer for the Arnold Schwarzenegger film Terminator Genisys, The Qemists are now set to release their new album Warrior Sound through Amazing Record Co. on 4th March 2016.The Qemists are, in many ways, something of a Qonundrum. They’re rock kids seduced by the dance floor, dance kids equally happy playing live instruments or building tracks on the computer, drum & bass aficionados who believe their hurtling breakbeats sound best under big muscular metallic guitar riffs. On paper, such a sound clash seems like a train wreck in the making. However, pumped as loud as your speakers will allow, or booming through the PA at one of their live shows, The Qemists make glorious sense. Their fearless genre-mashing has already garnered them a sizeable following across the globe, scoring a previous number one album in Japan and playing to audiences of over half a million people in Poland.Warrior Sound has seen the band grow from three to five members, but The Qemists also continue to broaden their sound by teaming up with a diverse range of artists, including Hacktivist on the brilliant up-tempo anthem Jungle. The album also features collaborations with Japanese metallers, Crossfaith, whose singer Kente Koie features on Anger and UK grime MC, Ghetts on No Respect. Now a band of five brothers – Dan Arnold, Liam Black, Leon Harris, Bruno Balanta and Ollly Simmons, The Qemists are a real live tour de force. Proof of this has been seen on recent tours with Korn and Enter Shikari, one off shows with the likes of Skindred, and stand-out performances at Download, Breakout and Butserfest.Warrior Sound binds their respective influences & styles together naturally into one progressively cohesive and solid sound. In short, The Qemists have arrived.

Both Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds create ambient environments with a large instrumental palette and give distinct nods to Brian Eno, but they do so from different vantage points. On Frahm’s albums, the individual tracks tend to inhabit different scenery, characters, and textures, yet are bound together with a shared focus and love of keyboards. Arnalds’ impressionistic pieces work together cohesively within the framework of an album and usually employ a fuller orchestra. Even though Frahm is from Germany and Arnalds is native to Iceland, it almost seems like the two composers could be long lost brothers. “Wide Open” is a taken from their third collaborative project so far, an upcoming EP titled LOON, and it adds a new layer to their growing stack of collaborations. It’s a soothing, crackly, slow-gliding track with chilly electronics.

For this next album, the pair team up with legendary producer Gigi Masin, who played a key role in his country's music scene from the 1970s onwards on radio, on television and in theatre with his directorial work.
