Closing out the series with two heavyweight stalwarts, The Planets come to an end at Neptune. The first track sees Coco Bryce return to pay homage on ‘Mantra’ as crisp breaks float above glowing pads and vocal cuts. Forest Drive West also returns, journeying to the outer edges with ‘Neptune’. Tightly chopped hits and snapping snares are laid over bleak but blissful tones and Rupture completes its cycle from the Sun.

Montreal-based producer Priori has a new release on the horizon with Midgar's "Pareidolia." The EP's title draws inspiration from the human tendency to see patterns and shapes in random objects, a theme that Priori expertly interweaves into his music.

This inaugural release from new underground electronic music label Rubi Records celebratesthe welcome return of minimalist drum & bass producer Ashley Tindall, aka Skeptical, showcasing his first solo productions for over two years. Working with the clean slate that comes from setting himself no stylistic constraints, Ashley offers three new tracks that, although stamped with his meticulous trademark style, hit a little different than you might expect. If you’ve listened to the most recent remixes he has done, you’ll have heard a hint of what’s in store here: a maturity of style with an evolved sonic palette that takes his signature sound into new territory.

Ashley Tindal has always been forward-thinking when it comes to his productions, but never more so than with this EP, which delivers three slices of the highest quality, cutting-edge D&B.

The EP kicks off with ‘Thru My Head’, a sinister, dub-tinged beast that builds up with a dark,mesmeric melody before dropping some serious ‘stepper’ beats and an undulating low-end that rolls as only a Skeptical b-line does.

‘Push Up’ delves into much heavier territory. An intro of claustrophobic pads and menacing keys leads into a savage drop of surgical beats that have been crafted with military precision, underpinned with a monstrous bass line, and injected with the simple but effective ‘push up’ vocal hook. Add in some trademark Skeptical sounds and you have a certified dance floor weapon to get the crowd moving.

The EP closes with ‘Initiate’, a dystopian slice of D&B futurism that mixes up dark pads, beats so tense they ooze nervous energy, and some of the most twisted sci-fi sonics yet used by Skeptical. This is a masterclass in next-level business!

An impeccable, ever-building composition up next, as stabbing breaks and synths introduce Force Majeure. A moody bassline sets the tone, before 'whooshing' soundscapes flood the senses. The long-awaited Escher remix of Double O’s track ‘Straight 98’ steps things off with eerie synths building above swarming subs. Tim Reaper & Dwarde make their label debut next with ‘Mendoza’, taking no prisoners with ruthless amen cuts twisting throughout. Mani Festo slows the tempo but raises the tension to conclude, with switching percussion and chilling atmospherics on ‘Caving In’.

Acen really needs no introduction, as he is one of the most admired and influential artists of his era, partly due to his incredible Trip To The Moon releases. This limited edition 12" contains the much sought after original mixes of the two tracks that made cemented his legacy as one of the most inventive of the old skool legends....

Suburban Architecture continue their series of now highly collectible 4 track EP releases with their 5th offering, 'Turning Point'. Following in the footsteps of 2022's 'Exploration' EP, this new collection once again draws heavily on influences from the jazzier, atmospheric strains of mid to late 90s Drum & Bass. Putting their own spin on sounds rooted in this golden era of dance music, the Turning Point EP delivers more of the London duo's trademark warm atmospheric production and Jungle-adjacent drum programming at a variety of tempos.

Opening track 'The Drifter' pulls no punches - Jazz Fusion flutes and delicate arps float over dreamy pads before giving way to a smashing Amen track, creating a classic roller with enough punch to hold a dancefloor. Title track 'Turning Point' delves further into Jazz Fusion sonics: underpinned by lush Rhodes, intricate drum programming sets the scene for a rousing vocal refrain and an atmospheric blend of flutes and horns. 'The Believer' delivers a similar blend of instrumentation, this time adding muted horns to the mix, building to a motivating, Soulful vocal hook. Closing out the EP 'Memoriam' lowers the tempo with a slo-mo roller placing deep, atmospheric pads and unexpected subtle guitar licks over a punchy, rolling drum track.

Submarine returns to the imprint with his ‘xiii’ EP. The Cologne-based artist is known for his ubiquitous dark rollers like Xertz, a track that regularly appears in Alix Perez set today since it’s 2018 release. This 4 track EP delivers exactly what you’d expect, rolling beats, heavy basslines and meticulous production details.

The Lemon D remix of Terrorist was found on a DAT a few months ago while Ray was archiving material. This remix was made in the early 90's but is only now seeing the light of day. Limited in numbers and unlikely to be repressed, it is a stone cold classic jungle tune and available for the first time. It is flipped with the Areis remix that cheekily mashes up Limb By Limb with the Terrorist to epic effect.

Trail presents his debut artist release on 1985 Music with 'Resident EP'. With previous releases on the imprint including the chart-topping 'Velaquez' and 'Cinnamon' on Monty's debut album, the Toulouse-based producer/DJ showcases his varied production style with melodics at the helm. Joining forces with label friends Visages, the opening single 'Misty Blue' sets the tone for the rest of the collection.

Jim Coles once again turns the tide towards a new horizon and travels further into the echo chamber. Leading on from the much-lauded ‘Secret Location’ mini-album with Seekersinternational, one-offs such as ‘Open Palms dub’ (Dub Stuy) and other teasings, ‘Acid Dub Studies’ is the fully-fledged result of the merging of the calligraphic expression of the 303 Acid bassline with the stern sway of Dub Reggae and the hazier edges of Dub Techno and Ambient music.

Unreleased MID 90’s Tracks From Pulse

Having established himself as a talented, Jungle-influenced artist, Sam Binary is to appear on The North Quarter with his first extended project on the label. Collaborating with fellow producer Deviant on three tracks and spanning multiple tempos, the EP stays rooted in a common theme: Sam Binary’s love letter to 90s Intelligent Jungle.

Using modern techniques and production styles combined with classic hardware such as the E5000 Ultra sampler and the Mackie Cr1604-vlz mixing desk, the Bristol producer has created a unique, 90s-reminiscent sound. The result is bundled in a 7-track EP, equally suited for the dance floor as it is for listening at home.

“This release is really a love letter to 90s Intelligent Jungle and the Liquid Funk that emerged after it in the 2000s, paying homage to the music that inspired me to originally start producing nearly a decade ago”, Sam Binary explains. ‘Reality Slip’ will be released August 19th on The North Quarter.

Hot on the heels of their third album Forget The Curse (Mammas Mysteriska Jukebox, 2023), Fördämning Arkiv presents a Troth anthology compiling early non-album material and other odds and ends from the Australian duo. A massive 15-track retrospective, Uncut Flowers consists of the tracks from the Our Opaque Wreath cassette (Moontown Records, 2019), The Optimist (Essential Minerals, 2019), the Garland And Gauze 7" (Altered States Tapes, 2020) as well as various compilation contributions. 74 minutes.

"In evidence throughout is Troth’s penchant for capturing and collecting sounds from their environments, transforming field recordings, organic and non-organic sonic sources into textures of a palette that they then compose and improvise with. There’s a virtuosity of sampling and sound manipulation. The recurrent sounds from Besseny and Bowman’s intrepid field and bush explorations often verge on an indistinguishability between the synthesised and the concrete-organic. Permutated hand percussion or the throbbing of a waterfall; xylophonic melody or the tape loop of a bird call. The clank and tings of unidentified objects, matter itself writhing in the veggie garden. An environment starts speaking from iron gates in a paddock anywhere, close to the damp leaf and loam of a forest floor far below unseen birds and their cacophony of song and chatter. Omni Trio returns with never before released material - this EP includes tracks from a ‘lost’ seventh album. These tracks were reconstructed from stems and fragments salvaged from old DATs, mini discs, and floppy discs. They were at various stages of completeness—from almost finished to complete restoration jobs. Most of them were in progress at the time Omni Trio delivered the Rogue Satellite Album. It was quite a cathartic experience, revisiting this material and bringing it back to life. But it’s also significant in that, there’s no more material hiding away. This is the final transmission from Omni Trio.

A1 - Mystical Path

Opening the EP we have a serious sensory treat from Aural Imbalance, as he ditches his own rulebook unleashing a myriad of rapidly combining elements synergising over glorious echoed intro-beats, before an uncharacteristically heavy slice of breaks punches its way into the track, electrifying the atmosphere while the trademark melodies dance above like fireflies in the night.

A2 - Luminosity

An airy intro slowly welcomes in snappy snares, staunch forthright bass tones and those delicious airy pads we know Aural Imbalance so well for, gradually enveloping the listener in a luscious web of glorious serenity. Layers of intricate textures and rhythms build upon one another, creating a mesmerizing and hypnotic sonic journey inviting repeated listens.

AA1 - Moonscape

Aural Imbalance crafts a true gem here as Moonscape opens with a serene hit of soothing pads before the wonderfully analogue breakbeats join the party, laden with hi hats and subtle poise. The backdrop exudes whimsical birdsong until halfway we are treated to a true earworm melody carrying us through to the clean ritualistic outro.

AA2 - Sunlight Through Clouds

Simon closes the EP with Sunlight Through Clouds, opening with wistful muffled grooves before the bubbly apache break reveals itself and whisks us on a synthful audio feast, built on the immersive, meditative soundscapes he is so well known for. The track has a soothing, reflective vibe and fits perfectly as a curtain call for his latest extended player.

Prayer returns to Hooversound once again creating a melting pot of his influences. From classical, to jungle and breaks to ambient, Prayer has doubled down on his refusal to be pigeonholed into a stereotype.

#hoo11/06 is a release combining this EP with his previous release on Hoover - putting it on vinyl form for the first time!

Prayer has always been one to push hard on the emotional front, and definitely brings this energy to this release. Having recorded original piano music from the age of 16, he’s been able to create a distinctive sound that still yet blows expectations out of the park, with previous releases on Grade 10 and Black Acre as well as debuting on Hooversound in 2021.

This EP continues in a run of amazing releases from Hooversound Recordings - the London-based label founded by Naina and Sherelle in 2020 - including the likes of Chrissy, Mani Festo, Special Request x Tim Reaper and Sinistarr to name a few.

Only a week or two after dropping the second of two ambient albums in 2022, masterful sound sculptor ASC is back with another release. This one finds him embracing drum & bass on limited Colored Vinyl for Past Inside The Present. The majestic Eye Of The Storm is a suspensory trip through the heavens with delicate drum & bass rhythms and lush swathes of synths. 'Reflection' is just as awash with smeared synth beauty over the floating drum breaks, then 'Low Tide' is a lo-fi workout from the depths, a vibe that continues on the more busy and dark 'Life Cycle.' Another exceptional bit of work form the one and only ASC.

A good old fashioned amen banger opens up Quantum State, as Howling Winds takes it back to that classic break sliced and chopped expertly as you'd expect from ASC, with a solemn, almost mournful melodic backdrop.

A tense, moody vibe awaits you with Nectar, ominous pad work and Hot Pants breaks craft an uncomfortable, brooding atmosphere you won't forget.

Flashback lives up to its name with classic jungle break work and effects, taking you right back to the 90's with a purposeful yet sombre oceanic backdrop. Towards the back end of the track the mood shifts skyward somewhat as if reaching its goal. Delightful.

Minimal breaks punctuate Hindsight with spaced-out kicks and jittery cymbals, smooth pads and that classic deep 808 bass wind and weave through a relaxing sonic landscape.

Alix Perez and Bou present 'Back To Basics' one of the most sought-after dubs in Drum and Bass. This dancefloor weapon features MC Trigga, whose lyrics carry the weighty bassline throughout the track. On the flipside Alix submits 'Under Pressure' with T Man. Providing further ammunition for the DJ's, this track with his assertive tone along a bouncy bassline and rolling drums.

Just over a year after his last solo project on The North Quarter, FD returns to the label with ‘Pleasure Rooms’. For this four-track EP, the London-born producer once again shows off his bass line dexterity, along with his trademark grooved percussion and mood-building samples. Heavier, grime-reminiscent tracks ‘Shawn Kemp’ and ‘Mama Told Me’ featuring Bristol MC Hella are combined with a more melody-driven, colourful sound present on ‘Double Drizzle’ and ‘Sails’. Following the major success of his minimal, experimental project Lin000 with Satl, this EP further shows the wide-ranging progress FD has been making in recent years.

Named after the Tottenham venue where FD went to his first rave, ‘Pleasure Rooms’ pays homage to the place that spawned his love for Drum & Bass. FD:
“Pleasure Rooms was an old rave venue in Tottenham. My main memory is seeing Brockie & Det in a small room, sweat dripping off the ceiling and columns with mirrors on, totally fogged up. And going fucking mental. Being totally immersed in the music and the vibe, super excited and just hyped.

My Pleasure Rooms EP was made with thoughts of these kind of raves and parties in mind as this is a vibe and sound I've been enjoying quite a lot again recently - and it was such an important time for my love of Drum & Bass.

Newly formed London-based jungle collective 4am Kru have been making big waves in the UK's flourishing jungle scene in 2021. Showcasing their immersive brand of hardcore-tinged 1993 flavoured jungle, the Good Time EP marks their vinyl debut with 4 timely cuts from their 2021 digital back catalogue on Embrace The Real Records.

A1 - Dreamcatcher

A gentle kickoff to the EP sees ASC flex the ethereal side of his compositional range with Dreamcatcher. Bleeps and subtle bongos intro the track before a cymbal-heavy beat rolls into play, urged along by warm 808 basslines. Several samples will trigger the scene veteran's nostalgia glands, and as the Arthur O'Shaughnessy quote proclaims: "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams", you cannot help but smile.

A2 - Tranquility

Filtered breakbeats with emphasised kicks begin our journey through Tranquility; a calming piece enriched with luscious synths, glorious pads and echoing vocal samples. ASC takes the listener through a crash course in DJ-friendly classic atmospheric drum & bass, inviting the crowd to take a step back from the chaos of the world and bask in the tranquility of the moment in true Spatial style.

AA1 - Drifting Thru

Remember Demon's Theme? For many it was their introduction to a new world of amen breaks in a birthing jungle / drum & bass landscape, and here ASC pays homage to that break - as well as a certain iconic classic on the Deejay catalog - rewritten impressively with a pure, intensely driven atmosphere and a thumping sub bass to boot as the eerie melody allows this incredible break to take center stage - as it should.

AA2 - Flotation

Closing the EP is Flotation, a building track which fuzes classic breakbeats chopped and punctuated with a slow-burning, gradually intensifying atmosphere. The interplay between breaks, bassline, pads and washing vocals is a delightful experience to behold, the bassline never relenting. Flotation is curiously catchy and will stay long in the memory.

MC Fats was a beloved figure in the drum and bass community, known for his smooth vocals and infectious energy on the mic. With a career spanning over two decades, he collaborated with some of the biggest names in the genre, including DJ Hype, Calibre, Alix Perez, and of course the multi genre chart topping Chase & Status!

Sadly, MC Fats passed away in March 2023, leaving behind a legacy of incredible music and unforgettable performances. But his influence lives on, and his music continues to inspire and uplift fans around the world. One of MC Fats' final releases is a new single called Anytime, in collaboration with Drum and Bass legend and producer partner Cool Hand Flex.

As one of Suburban Base original artist roster we were delighted to welcome them ‘back home’, and Fats was excited to see the reaction and plays the Anytime was already gaining. Having discussed with Flex, his dear friend and long-time collaborator, we together feel that it's appropriate that this release goes ahead as a tribute to our brother.

The track features MC Fats' signature soulful vocals, layered over Flex's classic jungle beats and modern production techniques. The single also includes an incredible remix from up-and-coming producer FreezeUK, adding a stunning version to the package which is already gaining maximum play nationwide.

Anytime is a testament to MC Fats' enduring talent and passion for Drum and Bass music. It's a reminder of the joy and energy he brought to the scene, and a tribute to his unforgettable voice and spirit. A1 - Divine Intervention

Ray Keith's long and incredible career is littered with forgotten gems, or in the case of Rinse, much sought after and longed for classics. The manifestation of a 20-year-old Toronto Jungle Message Board joke which spawned hours of shit-posting and burner account discourse and even a Gremlinz produced track to continue the joke even more tangibly on the legendary message board community.

Contemporary Jungle flagbearer Tim Reaper inaugurates the Big Bad Shark off with “The Orbit”, an aesthetical statement of intent, harnessing echoes of Wax Doctor and Alex Reece from the cosmos and pinning the feeling down with euphoric pads and a ten-tonne soundman b line ensuring that all the lasers are shot from the head into the sky.

Flip for the shimmering amen lash of “Quincy” as Tim collaborates with Motor City beat smith Nvious to pay homage to Dreamscape tape Bukem. Another entry certifying the tradition of cross pollination between London and Detroit continues to bear fruit.

Pianos Raining Down' is a collaboration with house veterans McDonald and Jannetta, and it continues in the duos passion for blending the old with a new production standard. The breakdown has classic, acid-house piano before a visceral jungle break takes center stage.

Kloke joins the Run it Red label for a stunning 4 track jungle ep. Fresh from dropping several excellent releases on Future Retro, !K7 and several other labels as well as collaborations with Tim Reaper, Kloke brings the 93 darkside style into the year 2023 for Echo Chamber Sound's sub label.

These tracks have the perfect balance of rawness and intricacy that Kloke is known for and could be mistaken for lost dubs played at Rage or the Bluenote sessions with only a cassette recording to tell the tale. Luckily they are brand new tunes, crisply mastered at The Exchange and pressed on a 4 track 12inch. Label owner LQ reworks the title tune Dark Knight with signature low end power and dubwise sonic manipulation.

DJ Exodus is no stranger to Vinyl Fanatiks, with his two 92/93 releases on Skeleton Recordings being repressed recently. This release originally surfaced in 1994 on Tearin Vinyl and shows how Exodus traversed between his early hardcore releases and his straight up jungle darkside tear out.

When Underdog Recordings started back in 1993, the first 2 releases, Mad Dog 1 & 2 were what would now be considered as hardcore jungle techno.

From Udr003 onwards the hardcore techno elements were abandoned as the scene and label evolved into straight up jungle and drum & bass. 29 years later, DJ Jedi's first outing on Underdog Recordings is a very welcome return to our Hardcore Jungle Techno roots as he delivers "Prophecy E.P". on the label.

Sunshine Productions is the old skool alter ego of d'n'b legend A-Sides, also known as part of Citadel of Kaos. This release is brand new, but in the style of the original rave sound from back in the early days, and features three ridiculously good tracks. Each track is as dangerous on the dance floor as you would expect, but because this is a Prime release, they are not only resonant of the birth of rave, but are produced with all the high quality you would expect for a modern release!

With so many stone-cold killers in the back catalogue, this next instalment in Bad Taste's Bad Company UK remix series was always going to be attention-grabbing. After all, Prolix and Delta Heavy's reworks of Bcuk classics 'Oxygen' and 'Dogs on the Moon' kicked the series off in explosive fashion and we all knew the follow up would be just as umissable.

First up, InsideInfo takes on Bcuk's 'Torpedo'. That iconic call-to-arms-synth from the intro of the original is supplemented by serrated blades of bass and building layers of harmony drawing us towards a drop that's got dancefloor mayhem written all over it. The machine-gun volley of drums, timbre-switching breaks and savage punches of low-end crank up the madness and deliver a perfect rework for contemporary dancefloors. This hits hard.

Then, Optiv & BTK show us what they can do with the 'Spider' stems. And, right from beat one, they deliver a lethal deejay weapon. Scientifically-deployed drums and samples in the intro give it the presence to stand alone, but with enough space for selectors to get creative with their mixing. So, watch for this being spun back, looped, doubled and manipulated in all sorts of crazy ways. Those huge sweeps of bass and the drama of the rising chords pattern have been precision-engineered for maximum hype, and this tune is an absolute essential.

Jonny L remains one of the most enigmatic artists to grace our scene. His sound is unique and varied, and each release stands alone and unique in a world full of similar sounding music. This EP is, once again, perfectly cast. Both old skool and new, it is heavily techno influenced, but would sit comfortably next to early R&S or Frank De Wulf releases, or at a deep techno event, or at any old skool event. Ment 4 Bass is a duo comprising of DJ Phantasy and DJ Lee, two legends of the game, linked together by Jack Smooth, who at the time worked for Basement Records, where Lee worked behind the counter and Phantasy produced in the studio.
