Music From Memory’s latest release is a reissue of the lost Art record ‘Marea / Tide’ from Italian Wave duo Alessandro Pizzin and Piergiuseppe Ciranna also know as ‘Ruins’. Made to accompany and as a response to the works of painter ‘Luigi Viola’ the record was released limited to a run of 600 with original artworks by the painter included in the first 200 copies. A number of special showcases were performed at various galleries by the duo alongside Viola’s work, with records being available solely at those events.
Due to poor management and disagreements with the label who produced the record, 300 copies were held for many years in storage and then in fact later even destroyed, the record disappearing almost without a trace.
Finally now available again and with a bonus 7” including four beautiful unreleased tracks, the release is printed in colors true to the original work of Luigi Viola with insert.

Krikor Kouchian serves this killer soundtrack to the documentary 'Arabie Saoudite: Les Liaisons Dangerousness' Where the French TV program focuses on the Saudi royal family’s support of Wahhabism and the West’s appeasement of Saudi foreign policy, Kouchian underlines and accentuates the content with a brooding blend of mirage-like electronics and minimalist drum machine geometries. A deviation from his previous works and he moves into appropriately darker synth territory with this one.

The Death of Rave is honoured to plate up the vinyl debut by NYZ; the cult, algorithmic/ generative music project of award-winning artist/scientist Dave Burraston (Bryen Telko, Noyzelab). The A-side revolves 14 succinct blatz ranging from cranky percussive pieces to queered microtonal dissonance and SAW II-like atmospheres - notably including one track made on a Sequentix Cirklon sequencer and PreenFM2 synth gifted him by Richard D. James - while the B-side contains a steeply immersive spectral drone tract that (never) ends in a locked groove, especially cut at D&M, Berlin.

This is the seventh release on Eye Teeth, the techno sublabel of Interdimensional Transmissions, by Israel Vines — serving as a teaser for his upcoming album. Israel Vines debut album will be coming in the early new year, but for now you can be treated to unique versions giving you a vision of the future that is to come, like the crushing “Rage Apropriate” or the deep electro breaks techno fusion of “Afterever” or the experimental bass ambient “Nosedive.” We started this sublabel as way of exploring pure and experimental techno in an entirely contemporary context (where IT often uses historical lenses and a wider musical context). This is Techno from Detroit and America, not Detroit Techno. We would like to see American Techno evolve, and this new imprint is an attempt to be a catalyst in that arena. This EP was pre-mastered by Neel at Enisslab Studio in Rome. The vinyl was mastered by Carl at Trutone and pressed at Archer Records in Detroit.

What does a daydream sound like? Is it an audible confidence boost, a concentrated dose of caffeine shot straight into the bloodstream of dancing feet, a blue so overwhelmingly electric its field stretches as far as the eye can see? On Amadeus, the latest Ghostly effort from New York’s Lord RAJA, the shapeshifting producer answers his own question with a cunning, childlike purity not felt since he started tinkering with Fruity Loops aged six. Though his means of music-making have matured since then—on Amadeus he utilizes an arsenal of drum machines along with synthesizers and an Allen & Heath analog mixer slammed through for extra crunch—RAJA describes a deliberate return to youthful experimentation and immediacy, clearing the way for a “vista to his childhood.” Longtime fans of the producer may be accustomed to productions more directly aligned with hip-hop and leftfield beats, but his swagger hasn’t gone anywhere despite the decidedly dancier change of form. The release is bookended by an exuberant and naturally collaborative piece with AceMo—a fellow New Yorker whom RAJA describes as his favorite producer—and bonus track “Fox Den,” an eight-minute cosmic meander released as part of the Adult Swim singles series last year. On standout “O.K” his customary percussive potpourri mingles with vocal chops and an electro bounce even the most humorless club patron couldn’t resist. “Black Coffee,” another highlight, features synth lines so darkly acidic they should come with toxic warnings. RAJA describes the track title as a literal take - a soundtrack to jolt first date jitters, a call to cool courage. Amadeus, meanwhile, he suggests is a cheeky nod to the complex richness of his musical heritage. He says, “I think it’s kinda funny to flip an idea of western imperialism and how it proliferated. It’s playful as an Indian man to call yourself Amadeus, knowing how much composers borrowed from eastern classical influences.” Now being released on vinyl for the first time in collaboration with Detroit’s YHS Records, the original eight track EP has been ex

Genre:Electronic / Dance
A brand new album by Daniel Grau! When Daniel Grau, Venezuelan producer and musician, achieved his first success in 1974 with “Dejando volar el pensamiento” he personally brought the tapes from his home studio to Caracas radio stations. On his own, with all his singles, great legendary songs like “El tren del espacio” (1978), “Atlantis” (1979) and “El León Bailarín” (1980), to name a few, described by many as the “magic sound of Daniel Grau” were made almost artisanal and self-promoted. Through 10 years of productive work from 1974 to 1984, he never imagined the ups and downs ahead of him and much less that his country would suffer a future debacle that would lead it to a downward spiral. His abrupt silence in the mid-80s after 9 magnificent albums is still an enigma. What happened to Daniel Grau? Where is he now? El Palmas Music, a new record label in Barcelona may finally bring the answer to you: Grau has been always there, he’s still alive and running, and never stopped composing in the same home studio where he started 45 years ago.

Having contacted Grau, El Palmas was allowed to access his current work, and finally decided to end with his long silence. In this, his first release as a record label, they bring to life a completely unpublished work of Daniel Grau. “El Mágico Mundo de Daniel Grau” (2019) presents 8 new songs to give him back a voice. This album offers a fusion between Space Disco and Smooth Jazz that connects us directly with his previous work, however, on this basis Grau is building an amalgam of styles resulting from his experience over these years, freeing his work from any classifications. El Mágico Mundo evades the vacuous exactitude and automatism like water to oil, Grau offers a humanized sound from synthesizers and sampling of instruments, music that he has played, sweated and, definitively, lived in the flesh. Different ingredients come and go introducing us to a singular world, the “magical world” where Grau wants to tell us something, we find his old footsteps and his new elements touch us, pop synths are suddenly colored with textures, reminiscent of the disco era piano are wrapped between brushstrokes and ornaments of funk and soft rock. In general, Grau invites us to a sensory reconnection with sounds that he has collected in his head for 30 years, striking elements that we can imagine as a living thing against a world almost numbed by the automation of production tools. The album is released in vinyl LP and has been produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by Daniel Grau under the executive production of Maurice Aymard.
Two singles are extracted from the album whose sounds summarize this proposal immediately. ‘Freedom’, the first cut, is a sensorial journey in smooth jazz where a delicate progression of chords serves as the basis for the succession of different phrases of synthesizers, an almost libertine hedonism from start to finish that features a video made by Grilled Cheese Studio. The second one ‘Dance with me’, opens the doors to a world of disco music, but in the Grau way, oneiric, synthesized, spacey, located in a crack between decades, 80’s and 90’s, synth imaginings of funky brass, pianos and strings apparently made for dance floors that dialogue with reverberant guitars and sampler textures.
El Palmas Music in this inaugural release wants to return Daniel Grau to music, allowing him to continue offering us new sensory experiences, as long as time permits. Although it is his first record after years of silence, Grau shows us that he has never been exactly still, nothing is further from reality, he is active and his challenging personality is intact.

Echoes of classic Italian industrial experiments ricochet thru Riccardo Mazza’s crackling 2nd album of cyberpunk techno and inquisitive ambient incursions for iDEAL. Where RM’s ‘Unfit’ (2016) LP perhaps tentatively dipped his tootsies in technoid waters after years of encrypting noise filth as Lettera 22, his follow-up for iDEAL betrays a steelier confidence and physicality to his music, manifest in a turbulent range of daring club music mutations intersected by spacious industrial percussion experiments and atmospheric pieces blessed with the romance of abandoned factories. In effect, ‘Spazi Futuri’ bridges dimensions between Maurizio Bianchi and the kind of experiments collated by the Trax label, with the modern freeform industrial of Roberto Crippa and the immersive structures divined by Donato Dozzy.

Welcome to the seductive groove of Nonetheless, a new duo formed of Florian Bocksrucker and Felix Bergleiter, and the first LP on Neubau. Across four sides of vinyl Nonetheless deliver an intriguing mixture of tough dystopian midnight-drive soundtracks and transporting early electronic/musique-concrète-hybrid interludes. Nonetheless is the sound of cogs turning, churning melancholy and pulsing snake-charmer drum machine palpitation. The end result is catharsis through sinister journeying. From the near-acidic punch of 'Machine of Love and Hate', to the grandiose slow-motion of 'Epik' and the ravey 'Exclusion Zone', Nonetheless' debut record is something special to savour, and is proudly presented as the tenth release on Neubau.

The 2 songs are remixed by south London-based artist Klein (Hyperdub), and Tokyo-based experimental hiphop musician Killer Bong (Black Smoker Records) Mastered by Bunsho Nishikawa, who is known for his works with goat and Tenniscoats, among others.
The ominous clockwork nursery song “Kazega Fuitara Sayonara” (Goodbye When The Wind Blows) was originally written by Koichi Yamanoha and released under the name of Grimm Grimm via Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine) and Charlotte Marionneau (Le
Volume Courbe)’s Pickpocket Records / Honest Jons in 2014. London-based Tokyo-born singer-songwriter experimentalist Koichi Yamanoha has been operating under the guise of Grimm Grimm since 2013. The project is an outlet for his fragile, haunted, otherworldly forays into baroque folk, futurist lyricism and electroacoustic oddities. His debut album, “Hazy Eyes Maybe”, was released by ATP Recordings in 2015. A track “Last Word Is Mine” from the album was used over the end credits for the Aaron
Brookner / Jim Jarmusch directed documentary film “Uncle Howard” (2016), featuring William Burroughs. His sophomore album, “Cliffhanger” was released in June 2018. And currently the 3rd album has been mixed and co-produced by Marta Salogni.

The virtual 3D music video for Klein remix has been directed and edited by London based
film maker Kenichi Iwasa. He filmed the footage in Tottenham using Super 8, 3rd
generation iPhone and 4K Camera, and created the zero zone virtual world with glitchy SFX
work by William Cunningham. Iwasa is also known for his legendary Krautrock Karaoke
night as well as being a sought after collaborator throughout Europe.

Zarkoff, Roberto Auser, FOQL, The Untitled. The Gooiland Elektro compilation “Unruhe” is a showcase of contemporary acid techno… spacey and trippy in the hands of Zarkoff and distorted and freaked out by Roberto Auser… but also rather industrial when done by FOQL or pushed to the extreme by The Untitled… this is acid as it should sound… edgy and daring tracks for illuminated heads instead of easy and boring sounds suitable for the masses… and as with all Gooiland Elektro releases this one is equally intense on the dance floor as with headphone playback.

Even though we're not paladins of pure concepts, the sound we're currently looking to release usually has a raw, kinda primitive and rough around the edges nature. We're definitely not looking for the generic "soul sample meets a 4x4 beat" kind of edit. For this release we challenge 4 of our favorite Porto producers to give their unique twist to different samples and sounds of records we love. Ranging from upbeat disco rhythms to organic drums and hypnotic g funk melodies this release has it all. We truly believe this is a honest representation of part of the Porto music movement that makes us proud.

MdCL Remixes Vol.1 is a compilation of remixes by musical maverick Mark de Clive-Lowe. Bridging worlds of music from DJ led dancefloors to underground jazz clubs, MdCL is one of the most broad-ranging artists you’ll find anywhere. Over his prolific career he’s collaborated with the likes of Kenny Dope, DJ Spinna, Joe Clausell and Restless Soul; remixed the likes of Omar, Shirley Horn and Jody Watley; and regularly takes his mind-bending live show far and wide all over the planet. With this new collection of soulful, dancefloor gems, MdCL presents his DJ-friendly reworks of future classics. The selection kicks off with German trumpet master Nils Wülker featuring none other than Jill Scott vocalling the Nia Andrews and Mocky-penned “Worth the Wait” where Nils’ trumpet dances around Jill Scott, delivering with goosebumps as only she can. Los Angeles based Moulton Music collaborator vocalist Nina Lares gets remixed with a nod to classic late 90s house music, and songbird trio King get their song “Supernatural” remixed with the original’s lush instrumentation underpinned with a bubbling signature MdCL bassline and drums. Side B launches with LA multi-instrumentalist Dexter Story’s “As Is” reimagined as an ethereal late night dancefloor moment inspired by MdCL’s trips to South Africa. Euro-Caribbean-American singer Amana Melomé’s “Lock & Key” has MdCL unleash his synths and piano keys for a full 88-keys workout, and the side closes with broken beat flavors of MdCL remixing longtime New Zealand collaborator Cherie Mathieson with the bassline and drums pressure of “Games We Play” sounding like an undiscovered P-Funk-meets-Bugz in the Attic anthem straight from the clubs of West London.

Funky Bullshit is a presentation of 6 tracks that intricately mixes post punk and early industrial such as Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle as well as the contemporary world that produces projects like Wetware and Hogg into the fold. Vand’s hypnotic, clanging synths with minimal rhythms and whacked out vocals create a dystopian ease that represents the twisted cousin of dance music that we all need. A cleansing of the present moment that is post and proto, modern and anachronistic.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
The Sedate / Tony Soprano Fashion Inspo. serves as a solo release from Ailie Ormston of ******** / GUINNESS [Domino Recording Co.]. Comprised of two separate projects, the works coalesce to provide highly surged compositions. The tracks were co-written alongside one drum machine and one synth, embracing elements of chance and coincidence. Writing and recording came simultaneously, a production line of spontaneous melodies with realtime decision making ultimately determining how it sounded, as opposed to preconceived ideas.
Ormston intends to confront the traditions of presenting, performing and digesting music in an attempt to articulate a form of a contemporary condition. She aims to construct a coherent visual language that corresponds to music writing, carrying its ethos into different forms and varying modes of communication.
Side A - 001, 002, 003 and 004 were composed specifically for The Sedate, a work by artists Stasis, developed throughout 2018, concluding as a short film and a performance on a building site in Merchant City, Glasgow. Heavy drums, tiny handbags, choral synths, big earrings, a fight scene, a breather and finally, La Macarena. They are listed here in order of appearance.
Side AA - A32, A18, A67, B12 and B34 were composed in short succession post Side A, collectively known as Tony Soprano Fashion Inspo. Providing increasingly convoluted textures and arching narratives, these tracks are challenging in their multiplicity, with contrapuntal instrumentation being heard simultaneously. Multitasking is encouraged. Physical renditions of each track were realised and presented as an exhibition, An oat latte, but with no image in the foam at Market Gallery, Glasgow. An accompanying text written during this residency can be found alongside the release.

Amsterdam-based label Kalahari Oyster Cult proudly presents release #18. UK transplant and currently residing in the techno mecca Berlin, A Psychic Yes a.k.a. Timothy Crombie delivers his sophomore EP named “A Maze Dream EP”. The title track immediately mesmerizes with its abundantly organic beauty. There is a direction from this relatively new artist that is unique and special. Japan’s Sapphire Slows remix follows it up and brings the beat more to the forefront in a trippy journey that defies laws of gravity. Tribal is an understatement for this EP. More of being immersed in a kind of primitive sunken garden. “Forest Floor” starts off the second side with an alien language all its own while “The Skaters” absorbs you in a primordial rainforest groove. The sounds throughout this EP are natural, innate and anatomical. This is an essential release to have that blurs the lines between land, sea and space.

Lock up your 303s, Roy Of The Ravers is back with a brand spanking new album and it's quite possibly his strongest and wrongest to date! Following a limited run cassette version of the album, Who Are Ya landsACIWAX 18 on gatefold vinyl and spans 10 tracks and nearly 60 minutes of top quality turns, which sees our star player's BPM rising up into tougher, more hardcore-esque territory (Supremacy Acid, Roy Shat Over Ref) Who Are Ya also takes in some seriously smoked-out, slow-mo squelchers (Phaelon Acid 4, The Box) essentially making it a game of 2 halves (no mid tempo tracks allowed - ok??!) Through-out all of the album's giddy twists and turns however, it's Roy's trademark 303 constantly on the boil that crowns him man of the match, as he dribbles it skilfully from in and out of the mix, making him top of the league for acid once again. Hoorar!!

For their second release, NBN Records select Walter Mecca, the enigmatic character out of Paris' suburbs, who built an extensive catalogue over the last decade under various aliases on his own imprint Weirdata. He steps up here to deliver his first vocal opus "Lose Control" under the moniker of Waltaa as we discover another side of the multi-faceted artist. The result is a truly unique hybrid R&B project spiced up with touches of Jazz fusion.

Blending contemporary vibes and early Timbaland productions on the hit single "Ready Or Not" , his song writing and arrangements are further illustrated on the smoothed-out low funk of the two-part title track - "Lose Control". An alien in the music industry, Waltaa reaffirms his eccentric character, staying out of step with current trends while maintaining a timeless quality, rooted one foot in the next.

4 years is what it took to complete Industries In The Trees. An album inspired by the destruction of the environment and a kinetic energy that comes along with society and inventions. It’s a portrait of nature’s complex pattern and tries to craft a serene and melancholic scent in the chaotic twirling and rummaging landslide of organic and manmade objects.

To give the music a finite touch, it degrades in a cascade of eroding instruments and tiptoes between the electronic and acoustic manipulation of sounds. Melodies written in the digital realm are being transposed to real instruments and re-processed afterwards in the digital world where it currently sits.

Hebi is tough, stomping, mesmerizing romany funk, riding Far East from the Baltic Sea on clopping hooves of uranium, with synths from spaceways further out still. Weakheart deejays will scatter, but Sotofett has road-tested this on dubplate for six months, tearing up parties and dancefloors.

Deeply meditative, desolately beautiful, Haru will stop you in your tracks. Osaruxo’s violin could be a rebab or a shamisen, a reed instrument or a voice.

Ravishing music.

Austria's Paul Walter comes head to head with Romania's most lyrical imprint, Catren. One track per each side, he doesn't compromise when it comes to quality, emotion and execution. Reminiscent of earlier days Chilean productions which we need not name but will for melancholy's sake, the A side, "Yuil" takes us back to the days of Hireklon and Waiworinao, thought long forgotten and forsaken in favor of cold and austere expressions. Guitar strings harmonically banded together with minimalistic percussions, handclaps and indescifrable vocals compose what will be remebered as a hall of fame track in the years to come. "Phobo", on the B Side, takes a more classical approach that will most likely bring back memories as well, catering to a more upbeat style, using poliphonic melodies and a two tone theme that drives the track forward alongside discrete drums and a swingy, fast paced bassline. Switching to "Hacker", a more light hearted third course relying on dub influenced melodies and mid ranged basslines, Paul shows just exactly how versatile he is and the diversity that he is capable of bringing forward. And so we come to "Rio", which makes use of constant atmospheric elements, the same technical expertise and thought out demeanor, strung togheter to finish off what is a somewhat abstract and tender "swan song" of the EP. Highly recomended and certified classic, vinyl only.

The vibrant city, a night out in the field, concrete, glass, grass, soil and rust - Markus Kenel and Nico Sun set off looking for the sound of home. Their paths, struck out long ago in the rural hinterland, now converge in the center of a city. The result is called Kenel / Sonne, a search for identity through a musical awakening. Arriving in the drone, the noise, the recording in the field, zoning out to wave, psychedelic mantras and the remains of forgotten records. It’s all in there in this unresting audiosphere of two unequal brothers in mind - yet both endowed with a curious heart, knowing that with every new found answer will come eleven new questions.

The late 1980s in the rainbow nation was a time when disco was mutating into what was becoming known as Bubblegum: pop music aimed at the black population of South Africa.
Bubblegum was a response to Western styles like disco and the fast spreading house music which originally came from the black ghettos of Chicago and New York. When the second Summer of Love took over the UK in 1988, first house, and other electronic music styles conquered South Africa as well. DIY - do it yourself - a motto that had already appeared in the punk movement, lifted the young local scene to the next level. With a minimal set up - keyboards, some drum machines and samplers it was suddenly possible to make music without having to rent expensive studios.
The Bees are probably the best known group, releasing only a few album in 1988-1989 and a handful singles that are now highly collectible. Their sound is electronic, hypnotic and highly danceable.
As is the case for Themba Wawelela is a prolific South African artist/producer who is best known under the monniker ''Little Big Man''
1 of 3 12" in a compilation of tracks from The ON label which was active in South Africa between 1987-1992, an era following the end of the apartheid regime and defining the new sound of Young Black South Africa in the early 90s

The Vapor Caves are a Texas-bred, R&B/modern funk outfit. A “vapor cave” is a rarity in nature, found underground, billowing mineral-rich steam known for its magical healing properties. The duo proudly pays homage to this natural phenomenon, synthesizing medicine for those who enter. The duo has drawn comparisons to such acts as Robyn, The Internet, Chromeo, & Tuxedo.

With BoomBaptist (Guilty Simpson, Black Milk) behind the synths and samplers and Yadira Brown contributing all lyrical and vocal duties, "Feel Yourself" is a dance record, a journey inward, meant to evoke self-reflection. This album was mastered by Rob Murray (Mark Ronson, David Gray) and mixed by Bird Peterson for beautiful, lush, 180 gram vinyl. Their first run of "Feel Yourself" quickly sold out and this second run, internationally distributed for the first time, is limited to only 250 pressings.

An Invitation To Disappear is the debut LP by British electronic musician Inland aka Ed Davenport – and his first release for A-Ton. Based on his soundtrack for a video installation by conceptual artist Julian Charriere, Davenport has recast the material and field recordings into eight tracks of rhythmically intricate electronics and spectral, ambient techno, inspired by Charrière’s visually striking, 76-minute tracking shot through a palm plantation toward a totemic soundsystem on full blast. Both the album and original soundtrack were created in response to the 200th anniversary of the eruption of Indonesia’s Tambora volcano in 1815, which plunged the world into darkness and caused a series of extreme weather conditions. At the time, the natural climate change crisis resulted in numerous global famines and is known throughout the northern hemisphere as “The Year Without Summer”, with global communities forced to adapt to sudden radical changes in temperature and weather. An Invitation To Disappear offers a contemporary parallel, leading viewers – and listeners – down a seemingly endless direct path of gridded palms from dawn to dusk; a bio-commercial monoculture where ancient jungle once flourished.

For well over a decade, Erkki Veltheim has been involved in some of the most critical contemporary sound works performed in Australia. Celebrated widely for his performance approach, that orbits outward from his extended violin practice, Erkki Veltheim’s recorded works are grossly under represented. With Ganzfeld Experiment, his first published solo recording, he lays out his methodology for creating music that is intense and provocatively extrasensory. Veltheim’s Ganzfeld experiment is an audiovisual work for electric violin, video and signal processing. In parapsychology, a Ganzfeld experiment is a test for evidence of extrasensory perception, particularly telepathic communication. It is based on the Ganzfeld (German for 'total field') effect, which describes the tendency of our central nervous system to invent patterns in random, uniform sensory data, for instance hearing voices in white noise or seeing images in visual static.

Working to overcome a range of challenges imposed by their disabilities, Tralala Blip have created a range of approaches to instruments, performance and composition that allows them to seamlessly create music together. Eat My Codes If Your Light Falls is their first full length album in over five years. It charts out an entirely new sonic universe that is the resolution of several years of intense live performance and expanded studio experiments. Produced by Lawrence English, the record explodes their working methodologies and reveals a collective sacred heart that is fuelled by their intoxicating post-electro pop melodies and diarised lyrical poems.

DJ Mad A (Adam Embleton) & Dr. Stevie The Ambient Guru (Stevie Hewitt) originally met when Adam picked up the Saturday shift at 'Record Mart', a record store run by Stevie back in the late 80's. They quickly bonded over shared tastes and enthusiasm for the growing dance club culture in England.
'Balearic Beat' had arrived from Ibiza, house music was taking over, and clubs were pushing boundaries, encouraging DJs to experiment with the dancefloor. Stevie was a regular selector at classic venues like 'Club Havana' and 'Flixx', where he blended house, electro & techno for the loaded English youth. Adam had signed to Island records, at 17, the first signee for newly appointed A&R rep Darcus Beese. Their collaborations in the Island studio is where the early 'Mad A' production techniques were cultivated.
With Adam behind the programming and Stevie on guitar, the two assembled a few songs to add to their explorative DJ sets. They printed a white label tiny pressing of 'The Mad Vibe', four tracks, "sending out waves that shock", their sound was a frantic blend of electro and house. The E.P. sold out fast locally, with their tune, 'Levitating Pharaohs' catching the attention of Drum 'n' Bass duo 'Spring Heel Jack' and labels like Mo'wax. As the 90's rolled on, the two continued to DJ as residents at clubs like Corner House, Brody's, Arena & Dickens.

With their debut, MME dUO send us across an impulsive sound collage omniverse of enigmatic Dada - long live imperfection! Formerly working together as Sculptress of Sound, Cologne based Patricia Koellges and Tamara Lorenz make use of a variety of instruments and devices: DIY electroacoustics, small synths, loopers, tuning forks, electric bass, percussion and voice are thrown into the game and shape a sound that’s as diverse as it is striking. The four sides of the record are the four seasons of the year. The cover artwork depicts an oddly shaped honey locust situated just outside MME dUO’s rehearsal room; homebase for a year of recordings for awholerunboom. From spring to winter the album opens up a wayward palette of experimental music. Sweet Cold Night could be a soundtrack for a movie scene of ourselves trudging through a swamp. CutCut somehow sounds as if caught in a loop early in the morning after an extensive club night. RZCK, a deliberately stumbling forward percussion piece is the longest of the 21 tracks. Several video clips go along with awholerunboom, one of which features the artists going through some kind of a ritual exercise inside of a two person costume, trying to put things straight it seems. The track itself Isn’t It Isn’t functions by way of permutations of spoken phrases and it might actually make you wonder if Gertrude Stein had gone electric. Mixed and mastered by Volker Hennes. Cover artwork by MME dUO. Edition of 300.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Boundary-pushing composer and sound designer Andi Otto returns with his new album ‘Rwandance’, which sees live instruments, studio recordings and sampled archival material melded together as part of an electrifying reimagining of the musical traditions of Rwanda
‘Rwandance’ is a collaboration between Rwandan dancer and musician Evariste Karinganire and cello player and electronic music producer Andi Otto, brought together by a chance connection. Inspired by Steve Reich, Mark Pritchard’s Harmonic 313 and Otto’s mesmerising musical experiences touring India, Otto built software to translate the intensity of Karinganire’s hand claps into different synth notes - the structure and time signature of traditional Rwandan music providing the framework for Otto’s creations, new instruments and sounds incorporated into its parameters.

Otto follows a path similar to many producers from Latin America’s burgeoning electronic music scene but instead of using Andean folk music as a starting point, he reappraises Rwandan music mirroring traditional sounds but similarly, reimagined through a contemporary lens. ‘Rwandance’ follows Otto’s 2016 link-up with Indian singer and actress M.D. Pallavi and underground hit ‘Bangalore Whispers’, a showcase for his original approach to cross-cultural musical dialogue. He has since cemented that reputation with subsequent albums “Via” and “Bow Wave”, weaving global sounds into his distinct sonic approach.

Producing and releasing music since the early 2000s, under the Springintgut alias and under his own name, for labels including Multi-Culti and his own Pingipung imprint, Otto draws on minimalism, electronic music and sound theory to create work that’s as considered as it is engrossing. ‘Rwandance’ is respectful and bold at the same time; Otto hews close to Karinganire’s hard-learned traditions, while unpacking and reconstructing them in unique ways.

Otto has long nursed an interest in creating music with a hypnotic quality, and working with Karinganire provided the perfect platform for exploring this. ‘Igisasa’ is a prime example, a slow-building track built around Otto’s custom-built thumb piano, Karinganire’s vocal, and a gentle acid bassline. It’s underscored by a long-nurtured interest in repetition, developed through tours of India – where he saw four hour, trance like performances based around one note – and an artist residency in Kyoto, Japan.

A pioneering force, he developed a digital sensor-extension of his cello, the “Fello” at Amsterdam’s radical STEIM centre, a reflection of his interest in repetition in music. It’s seen him featured in a London Science Museum conference on the history of electronic music. He teaches a course at a sound art academy in Bern, Switzerland, called “Repetition is Change”, where he leads students in considering how we relate to sound. “I’m thinking a lot about repetition and change and the dialectic between these two words,” he says. “It’s like brushing your teeth: you do the same thing every day, but if you really look at it, it’s new every time.”

The connection between Otto and Karinganire came through a serendipitous crossing of paths in the 2018 stage show Planet Kigali, where Otto was hired to create the soundtrack, and where Karinganire was hired as one of the dancers. In creating the soundtrack, Otto was given access to a wealth of archival recordings from Rwanda, ranging from music to field recordings of everyday goings-on. By chance, one of the drum parts he sampled for the show was a recording of Karinganire performing from some time during the 1970s.

Karinganire pointed this out to Otto, who suggested they go to his studio and record Karinganire singing. Otto had imagined he would perform for a few minutes but, aside from a brief pause to drink a beer, he sang for 45 minutes with no backing or metronome. This session was the starting point for the record, and Otto went on to build around the plentiful material which Karinganire had provided him with.

The record they’ve created was a natural fit for the Shika Shika label, founded in 2015 by UK producer Robin Perkins (El Búho) and Argentine producer Agustin Rivaldo (Barrio Lindo). Otto and co-founders Perkins and Rivaldo had had an online friendship for a while, and this album presented the perfect opportunity to work together. The label is currently focused on a crowdfunding campaign to launch their second edition of a new compilation, “A Guide to the Birdsong”, where electronic artists will be commissioned to write tracks incorporating field recordings of birds from their respective countries. It taps into the natural ambience that filters through many of the label’s releases, with all of the proceeds going towards supporting bird charities.

Shika Shika is a home for music that combines organic and electronic sounds, a meeting place between the past and the future. (They also put an emphasis on supporting artists, splitting profits in their favour.) This chimes exactly with what Otto wanted to achieve in his collaboration with Karinganire, taking deeply-rooted traditions and giving them a new sonic make-up.

Thoughtful without being obtuse, ‘Rwandance’ fuses different musical disciplines together with ease, making for a unique record that’s easy to get lost in.

Wicked Witch is loaded with insistent drum machines, resonant synths, phased 'n fuzzed guitar mayhem. The lone magus at play in the studio: there are musical and methodological antecedents for the work of Wicked Witch, but spot-the-influence is a worthless pursuit, crumbling under the relentless focus of the four tracks here. For his second release on EM Records, Washington D.C.'s Richard Simms gives us three previously unreleased tracks from his single-mindedly all-encompassing world, plus his own remix of one track. The second disc of this double 12 inch 45 RPM release features remixes/reconstructions by German musician DJ Slyngshot and the Osaka duo YYPYY, which comprises goat's Koshiro Hino and renowned DJ Yousuke Yukimatsu. This second disc by turns emphasizes and destabilizes the relentless rhythm and visionary filigree of the Wicked Witch disc. Get ready to be enchanted by the spell of the Wicked Witch

Character is a collection of six songs created in the span of just a few days by Rejoicer and Werd, with a little help from a few Hippie Hair Cut friends TrommelTobi, Afromaniac and Beno Hendler. The production centers itself around a core of Fender Rhodes, and Moog Prodigy melodies, with psychedelic synths and organic percussions creating the surface of a new yet familiar musical planet. The extremely talented visual artist C-Line has blessed this music with a visual representation of each character, completing each story.

"In these times of dawless jamming JBS from Karlskrona brings you a release where the A-side is entirely made with samples on a ensoniq eps, while the B-side is entirely made on a computer. Which also means this record is the perfect gift the analogue hardware purist that despises all use of digital equipment. All tracks are somehow on the classic new york house vein with a distant homage to the nearly disturbing sample use heard in stuff from labels such as nu groove, but with the B?rft twist! Worth noting is that the first track on the B-side is a re-edit of a track made a long time ago by Pean Romael where his little sisters friend was the unlikely guest vocalist. Blasphemy Release! Get it now before its banned!" -DJ Joakim Cosmo

If there's one thing we've learned from doing reissues for twenty years, it's that there is often a lack of justice in the arts. All too often, the intensely talented are shunted aside, or not able to access the means to a greater hearing, or marginalized (or eradicated) by larger societal (commercial) (racial) (political) forces, to name just three potential prongs of an art-crushing pitchfork. The less an artist's work can be categorized, the greater the odds of being an eternal outsider. The more pure those artistic efforts are, the greater the chance they cannot be categorized. Such is the case with the music of Daszu. They were three, and minimal. Bass, synthesizer and drums.

I'd like to tell you that the music of Daszu reminds me of This Heat. I'd like to tell you that the music of Daszu reminds me of the Pop Group... or A Certain Ratio… or as some have suggested, early Devo. It does, in purity of intent—in the great expansive reach of the attempt, and the self-assurance of the resulting music. This intensity of intention is evident in the dark, burbling and buzzing electronics; in the propulsive drumming; in the insistent bass-lines; in the emotional vocals; and in the evocative and poetic lyrics.

An impediment to achieving a place in the post-punk pantheon — Daszu was based in Milwaukee, not in the UK. Except for cassette distributions in Helsinki and Dublin, and a few scattered performances, they lived, practiced and performed near home. In 1979, Mark Rudolph (now an interactive 3D artist, musician, software developer, mathematician and the director of i3Dmedia LLC) talked in his kitchen to David Wolf about an idea he had for a new music: how music could be 'popular' without rock guitars and a big wall sound such as large amps and organs. 'I said we could do a minimal three-piece music based on new melodic lines and poetry and synthesis. I thought that we could remake reality. It was possibly ambitious, but I didn't think so. We decided to do it.' They did it. Not with a big polyphonic keyboard, but with a mini-moog sound generator.

The 1/2 Dativa material included on our Lion survey of Daszu's musical innovations was the work of Rudolph and his Australian friend and musician, Greg O'Connor (Boom Crash Opera). Rudolph had been studying mathematics and computer music in Australia, and a mix of Daszu, his computer generated music and O'Connor's great genius with electronic parts is evident in these intense, propulsive recordings made on a pair of DX-7 synthesizers one feverish day in 1983.

Run The Length Of Your Wildness is a weekly dance party held every Monday night at Underground SF in San Francisco, which initially launched on August 24th, 2015 in a small rave cave known as The Basement — formerly and infamously known as 222 Hyde — in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Friends and 100% Silk labelmates Cherushii (Chelsea Faith) and Roche (Ben Winans) started the night as an opportunity to DJ more often, honing their skills in the process. But thanks to the intimate setting, The Basement’s supportive owner and staff, and the wonderful crowd who attended on a regular basis, Run The Length Of Your Wildness became so much more than that: a community of music-obsessed weirdos, nerds, scene fixtures, first-time ravers, and eccentrics, leavened by the occasional random partygoer passing by, taking a chance, and finding themselves hooked on their new Monday night mainstay.

We book primarily local DJs and live acts, and make an effort to book artists and DJs who have never performed out before. We encourage experimentation, and we’re proud to say Run The Length Of Your Wildness has become a place for electronic musicians and DJs to showcase their expressive freedom and GO WILD!

On December 2, 2016, Cherushii, Nackt (Johnny Igaz) and several other beautiful souls were lost in the Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire. The loss is beyond devastating — we miss our friends dearly. The San Francisco electronic music community has come together to do whatever we can to champion their legacy, and Run The Length Of Your Wildness is proud to be an enduring part of that legacy.

Hobo Camp is proud to be able to partner with Run The Length Of Your Wildness to produce a release containing music from Cherushii and Nackt, to preserve their legacy and contributions.

Forming during 1997 in Providence, Rhode Island experimental group Black Dice have without question paved their own way through their 20 year career. Doing what you want to do when you want to do it, no questions asked with a fully informed yet blatant disregard for everything surrounding them, always with acute execution and an ever changing singular sound. No gimmicks, no nonsense, since the beginning. Somehow it would only make sense for Black Dice and L.I.E.S. to link up and after a long friendship we see it come to fruition. With this two track 12-inch Black Dice put their foot on the gas and ramp it up. You wanted to shred? Well this shreds. Is it a snapshot of the past? A possible nod of things to come? A moment frozen in time? We leave it up to you to decide.

F-Dorm is a collaboration between Connor Camburn of Litüus (AVIAN), and visual artist Conor Ekstrom. Commune follows the first F Dorm cassette on Mazurka and presents the first LP by the project. Songs build upon unexpected repetition, wielding normally aggressive sounds into meditative loops with subtle textural evolutions. Bursts of tape saturation, controlled waves of feedback, and linear drum beats shift and weave together through rhythmic delays. Affected vocals speak low as if coaxing the listener further out into the nether regions of the mind. The strange cumulative mood of the record is difficult to describe: A transcendental state or a foul parallel from which the listener arises stronger or does not arise at all. mummies in civilian clothes -the master of the riddle-a DOLLMIND haunts me in the penitentiary -the puttyman, naked inside -a mind made of cream.

5 Years after the New Age cult-classic album Music For Massage hit the shelves, it's sequel was silently released. Never intended for consumer sale, »Music For Massage II« was only known to a select few masseuses and tape collectors. The very definition of esoteric.

Musically, it’s both an homage to how far the genre had come in those 5 years and served as a predictor of what was to come. Comprising elements of Folk, Drone, Ambient, Ethereal, Minimal, Modern Classical, the recording is quintessential of all things New Age. These are sounds meant to induce healing, therapy, and relaxation.

Hand crafted by Ric Kaestner and inspired in part by an encounter with one of the fathers of modern music, John Cage, for actual massage or for casual listening, it holds its own almost four decades later.

• Extremely rare second album by New Age Pioneer Ric Kaestner.
• Housed in a gatefold jacket with liner notes including the history of the album and words from Ric taken from an interview with Diego Olivas (Fond Sound).
• First release in 35 years, Originals weren't intended for public sale.
• Limited to 300 copies on CD.
• Includes 3 songs from the prequel album in high quality. Restoration of the original cassette audio.
