No, it is not too Sam Prekop at all. His drawings as well as the freeform music on this album are subtly different from anything else he has produced in his solo career. Regardless of the style he is working in, Sam Prekop’s music is always imbued with a sense of wide-eyed discovery and unpredictable exploration.

On »The Sparrow« Sam Prekop expands his electronic cosmos with a remarkable expression of timeless simplicity and coherent execution. It's deceptively simple music that feels accessible without abandoning the experimental legacy of the Modular hardware system which serves, besides a polyphonic Prophet 5 synthesizer, as the centre piece of this production.

The side long title track opens this album with unpredictable synth dissonances and broken step sequenced patterns. »Palm« brings the set to a close with its irregular fragility while »Fall is Farewell« is build around a yearning brassy fanfare which resembles the noir romance theme of Michael Smalls soundtrack for the 1971 film »Klute«. The sparkling essence of »Step and Stair« seems a suitable space for unforgotten summer holidays of our childhood.

On his first solo release for Düsseldorfs label TAL, electronic experimentalist Sam Prekop offers his most captivating yet stripped down modular music. All compositions on »The Sparrow« were gradually developed piece by piece. Best known for his jazz-leaning tropicalismo with The Sea And Cake, a key part of the Chicago scene with the likes of Tortoise or Chicago Underground Duo, he has in recent years established himself as a modular synthesist, building his instrument meticulously to create a unique system that allows him to create highly individual music through mechanical patterns, repetitions and chance. In this context his widely acclaimed community forming public tutorials on fb should be noted as well.

If we weren’t already tripped out by this whole Honour thing, HBK Vol 2 has sent us thru the looking glass. A properly shapeshifting mixtape/album bursting with enigmatic head-scratchers on the Hype Williams x Klein axis, but probably also featuring contribution/s from Wu-Lu and we swear we recognise **** ****'s voice too, but honestly, who knows.

Honour’s music runs against the grain without feeling overly conscious or ironic about it. Their grasp of atmosphere and non-linear storytelling manifests in luxurious yet crushed textures and suggestive cues that don’t rely on a single device or trick, instead spinning through countless reference points to end up with something that’s hard to fathom, and endlessly expressive.

‘Everytin Na Double’ is even harder to pin down than its predecessor, deploying basement blooz, smudged neon soul and scuzzed rhythms like a sort of liquid impressionism. Sweeping from cinematic collages of militant drums, horns and strings to 128k drill, roadman romance and screwed R&G with a sort of red-eye swagger and attitude that places the project firmly in the UK, to our ears, at least. Not even the tracklisting the label sent us matches the number of tracks on here so, you know, anything and everything is possible, and perhaps the object of the game is to just give in and embrace/inhale the smoke.

After three years of deep work, Stas Karpenkov's debut album is released on Gost Zvuk in the form of an abstract, free-form study. The album is saturated with the Black Sea breeze and the natural beauty of the peninsula, a land associated with the life of the author. It's a musical representation of its surrounding reliefs, an ode to the cyclicity of the waves, and a journey through soundscapes. These manifestations of maritime romance also include the experience of co-producing with Terrence Dixon and Kuzma Palkin on a couple of tracks that play an important role in the idea of the record.

The steaming Berlin based producer "Kashpizky" is taking over the labels 087 instalment with an old school Detroit influenced and funky techno groovers.

Having established himself as a talented, Jungle-influenced artist, Sam Binary is to appear on The North Quarter with his first extended project on the label. Collaborating with fellow producer Deviant on three tracks and spanning multiple tempos, the EP stays rooted in a common theme: Sam Binary’s love letter to 90s Intelligent Jungle.

Using modern techniques and production styles combined with classic hardware such as the E5000 Ultra sampler and the Mackie Cr1604-vlz mixing desk, the Bristol producer has created a unique, 90s-reminiscent sound. The result is bundled in a 7-track EP, equally suited for the dance floor as it is for listening at home.

“This release is really a love letter to 90s Intelligent Jungle and the Liquid Funk that emerged after it in the 2000s, paying homage to the music that inspired me to originally start producing nearly a decade ago”, Sam Binary explains. ‘Reality Slip’ will be released August 19th on The North Quarter.

Blazej Malinowski joins forces with Neel, Claudio PRC, Milena Glowacka and Svreca for a collaborative EP via his own Inner Tension imprint this May.

Over the past decade, Poland-born now Berlin-based producer, DJ Blazej Malinowski has been deliver his twist on Techno via imprint such as Semantica, Kvalia, TGP, 012 and of course his own Inner Tension label where he returns here with a new collaborative EP. The idea behind the record was to merge Blazej with artists he has close connections to and create music that would capture the moment in time at which it was made, based on pure emotion and without limitation. The resultant 'Are We All Alone or Just Overwhelmed?' EP is testament to Blazej's inherent connection to Techno.

Up first on the package is 'Time Is Relative', a collaboration with Italian DJ, producer and engineer Neel which meanders through an amalgamation of intricately intertwined synth leads, robust percussion, and a grinding low- end drive. 'Riddle' with Claudio PRC follows and wanders into deeper territories via ethereal, billowing textures, metallic chimes and resonant synth flutters floating atop a circling bass groove and crisp drums.

On the flip-side Milena Glowacka joins Blazej for 'Equal', a subtly unfurling composition laid out across seven minutes with bubbling tones, dynamic percussive elements and a pulsating low-end. 'Coincidence', composed with Svreca then rounds out the release, a murky journey through haunting atmospherics, bumpy off-kilter drums, and eerie percussive fills.

The Haven white label series is back after a year's break with the fifth instalment of the infamous Sardonic Tonality compilation series - this time with three newcomers to the imprint and one existing label artist visiting the series for the first time.

The A1 kicks off the record with Otautahi (Christchurch) local techno legend Keanu Raves - a regular DJ at Haven events in their hometown. Booming kicks, rolling percussion, and emotive synth work come together in this perfect dance-floor killer that's already been making the rounds at Aotearoa warehouse raves and outdoor parties. Following up is Valerie Ace on the A2 with a tripped-out slab of techno weight. Eerie synth textures, creeping vocal whispers and pounding drum rhythms combine in another delight for all club creatures from the promising German producer.

On the flip French production demon Draugr revisits the label again following on from his Nine Nights EP at the end of 2021. Menacing melodies, charging drum work and ominous atmospheres pour out of yet another industrial-tinged mammoth from the Parisian nightmare weaver. Ending the record is the label debut of Berlin-based Puerto Rican heavyweight Xiorro. Off-beat bass, hypnotic percussions, and grungy synth blasts close out the compilation with another certified club weapon.

Following up their sold-out split plate with Kliptown for the Yuku vinyl-only white label series, Ikawa returns with a plate of their own, laced with groove and style.

Roman artist Heinrich Dressel delivers a sparkling gaze into the future with the glistening ‘Lambda 2077’. Opening with powerful, guttural drones and sweet sweeps from ‘Nebulosa’, the broad sonic scope of this LP is beautifully demonstrated.

Growling arps and magnetic, synthesised moans are throughout this record. Dressel cultivates a cinematic, cerebral experience throughout each track, delicately weaving a visceral soundscape. The rising, slicing tones of the atmospheric ‘cem 8220’ provide a compelling journey through meandering arps with a defined structure. ‘Arpeggio Jawa’ swims into action with a watery, colourful arpeggio sailing through each intriguing section.

‘Francisco’ opens things up with an electro-tinged, thunderous remix. Building upon the chordal gravitas of the original, the remix provides the release with an acidic percussive journey. The swirling brilliance of the title track ‘Lambda 2077’ presents itself as stunning, emotive work which prepares you for the decade Heinrich Dressel is heading to next. The machine lead release shows Heinrich Dressel as a consistent unstoppable force behind the synthesiser, culminating in an astonishing, sophisticated record.

Bristol-based producer and DJ 'Drone' present his album on 1985 Music. This 13-track long play, like his previous releases, continues to push the boundaries of underground dance and grime while retaining a sub-heavy, 808-laden coherence within his productions and selections, as anyone who has caught one of his sets can attest to.Since his first release on the imprint in 2020, Drone and his productions have grown from strength to strength. His debut EP ‘Evil Sky’ in 2021 received critical acclaim and support from all the leading figures in underground dance. His production work blurs the boundaries of trap, grime, and dubstep while enjoying support from the likes of Mala, V.I.V.E.K, and Kahn, it seems Drone’s inimitable sounds are becoming favoured by both scene stalwarts and club-goers: an admiration which looks set to grow as he continues to produce thoughtful and original music that promises a reaction in the club. ‘All I Know’ feat. Nottingham’s rising star Snowy kicks off the campaign and is a track that dominated the 2022 festival season. Calling on fellow production friends, this album also sees collaborations with label head honcho Alix Perez, Notion, Hyroglifics, and Deft. Kicking off 2023, Drone undertakes his first North American tour with a month of back-to-back performances and showcases of his new music ahead of release. He returns to the UK with a very special album launch party in his hometown Bristol before taking the party to the capital in early March.

Well, we know absolutely nothing about this brand new edits label, nor the artist behind it, so in wonderfully cliched fashion, the music is left to do the talking. What we do know is that Harri Pierson must have a penchant for classic house because that's the vibe of the A-side 'Bananas'. It has retro-future vibes, a pitched-up rave vocal, and lively piano chords over shiny metallic drums. It's a real bouncer with hints of Italo madness, then 'Funk Rail' is a more worldly affair with Indian-sounding melodies, rich layers of instrumental funk and jostling, loose-limbed drums. What a scorcher.

In Togo, Gazo doesn’t need any special occasion to resonate with people. Like an everyday life soundtrack, it is present when everything is fine but also when sadness sets in. In France, electronic music is also a popular remedy at any time, but it is often far away when we look at the money we spent the night before with watery eyes. Ago Gazo set the scene for a hybrid genre in which the notions of trance and liberation are palpable. Percussion, instruments and traditional chants from Togo, analogical machines and modular synths share a common destiny in this project : bruising emotions like a boxer’s ears.

Berlin-based French-Irish sound artist Zoë Mc Pherson levels up on their third full-length "Pitch Blender", mangling years of experience DJing and performing live into a tight set of cybernetic soundsystem experiments that flicker between the rave and the art space. Described as a "vanguard" by DJ Mag and "fearless" by Hyponik, Mc Pherson has performed tirelessly across the world, appearing at Berlin's CTM Festival, Madrid's LEV, Malmö's Intonal and presenting installations at Berlin's Silent Green and Monom. They also curate the ambitious A/V-focused imprint SFX with visual artist Alessandra Leone and maintain creative partnerships with Jessica Ekomane and Ciarra Black (as Carbon 96).
Pulling in influence from British bass music and the outer fringes of experimental sound art, "Pitch Blender" is Mc Pherson's most ambitious album to date, splicing bold vocal performances with psychedelic modular synth flourishes, illusory environmental recordings and relentlessly abstract polyrhythmic beats. It's music that's able to balance a constant exploration for newness with a rhythmic pulse that never ignores the dancefloor, connecting the nodes between artists like aya, Elvin Brandhi, Zuli and Slikback. Cinematic and sub-heavy, "Pitch Blender" is a dizzying work of sonic fiction that's permanently in flux, dissolving breaks, beats and acidic leads into queasy, pressurized tracks that act as an antidote to contemporary malaise.

For the 4th release on Spanish series, Partout comes back with a 4-track EP of Fdez straight from Barcelona.

The highly politicised Los Angeles collective Ultra Red re-released their superb A16/a17 12" last year. Both tunes were produced entirely from field recordings made during street protests against the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington April 16 and 17, 2000 and became secret weapons of DJs like Ricardo Villalobos & Craig Richards. Now, 'a16' gets remixed by underground titans Losoul and The Mole into two club-ready groovers. Losoul goes first with a dry and minimal take that is textured and deep with plenty of absorbing atmosphere. Next up, The Mole goes for a more propulsive sound with glistening tech house drums and icy pads. Both are artful reworks that take you on a mental trip.

For our 23rd release, we are so pleased to receive on our beloved label, a veteran, a real house warrior & survivor, the very solid : Nicolas Aftalion. He started in the late 1990s, highly inspired by the house master Kerri Chandler, as a good soldier of the underground, he released several releases on his own label that's some serious shit. According to us, he has reached the quintessence of his art on this release, bass that explodes, synths that twirl with a massive drum structure, which crashes in your mind to never let you go to the grave. The first title, the aptly named "rue des wallons" is one of the best house titles we've heard in recent years, straight in your face, a tribute to our skylax records structure where we had some coffees during lunch time on the balcony for several weeks where he made us listen to his future titles as he went along (it's the opposite street !). His tracks are part of the purest New York house tradition: Kerri Chandler, Terrence Parker, Franckie Knuckles, Kenny Dope, Jocelyn Brown: THE Spirit OF House !

The FunkyJaws Music label invites us deep into their world for a third time here with another delicious 12".It's a various artists EP that features one of our top disco favourites - Eddie C. He opens up with 'Do You Wanna Dance' which has vocals pacing about the mix and old school acid bass twangs under raw house drums. Elado's '25.4 Millimeters' is a Middle Eastern funk workout with spangled drum hits and the flip side brings twisted acid disco and the cosmic trip that is 'In Your Ear With It' from Funkyjaws themselves.

Endangered Musique kicks off with a high-quality reissue of an EP that deep house heads will either already know or soon grow to love. It was written by Jose Chinga in 1994 and is an alias of an artist better known as Brothers' Vibe aka Tony Rodriguez. The opening tune 'Love Is What You Need' is also the most well-known - it's US garage with low-slung drums and grainy pad work with a simple but effective vocal. 'I Got You' picks up the pace with shuffling drums and a grinding lead before the warm 90s house sounds come to the fore again on 'Let It Go' and 'Riding On A Cloud'. Lovely stuff.

The 39 Orbits pair of Nick Annies and Twink put out only two releases and they were back in 1993. In the years since though, they have become real digger's delights that now fetch high prices on the second-hand market if and when copies come up. But not anymore - Cosmic Soup has assembled this welcome 180g 12" which features tracks from those original records as well as one previously unreleased cut. 'Mercury' is pure dreamy post-rave prog house, as is the slightly more direct 'Outer Limits.' 'After Life' is high-speed house with lush synth work and 'Orbit's Theme' gets more deep and inwardly reflective.

Politics Of Dancing once again gets our vote here with some balmy deep house propositions from the eponymous production team working alongside French stylist Djebali. 'Close To Gate' layers balmy pads and smeared chords over punchy and dynamic drums with plenty of cosmic effects up top. There is a little more urgency to 'Soul Brothers' which skates and skips along nicely beneath shimmering vocals sounds and wispy melodies. 'Simple Minds' brings more physical drum work and infectious finger clicks while the Franco Cinelli remix gets things on more of a breezy and rolling tip. A useful, heartwarming EP of modern deep house music.

Scanone is a producer who has proven his versatility and so it's no wonder he's been tapped up for some killer tunes by the Reposition label. This blistering electro EP features three originals that mix up industrial textures with caustic drums and star-gazing synth work. 'Vivre' is an eye-watering opener with sheet metal sounds and frosty pads, 'Kraft' is then a slower more pensive electro soundscape and 'Vertabre' has a truly brutal groove that will rattle the walls of any club space, as well as dislodge brain cells. Sync 24 rounds things out with a remix of the same cut that becomes a sonic blizzard.

Is A Feeling follows up its debut 12" with a classy and varied house offering from Triform. It kicks off with some old school and jacked-up sounds on 'Not For Radio' where analogue drums, silvery cowbells and ticking hi-hats get you in a sweat. Then it's a more drum-led and low-slung affair on the swinging 'Dub 3'. 'Mr Chr$ (65)' shows this artist's range as things become more stripped back and tech-inclined, with silky drum loops and watery droplets backed by diffuse chord work. 'Timeless Groove' then heads back to the old school with lush piano chords and sustained pads bringing the good times.

Hadone's nine-track LP shares a first glimpse of his immersive 'Things We Never Did' concept.

November 2022 sees the inception of not only Hadone's first ever feature LP but also his artistically driven and expansive label project 'Things We Never Did'. Marking the first release on the imprint, 'What I Was Running From' spans nine individually unique records, including a special collaboration with friend and fellow French producer Askkin. One of the standout breaks tracks on the LP, it was the first track they made together.

A culmination of all things influential in modern underground techno, blending 4x4 raw techno tracks with more spirited melodic pieces, Hadone's debut LP is a telling celebration of several immersive sub-genres combined with his renowned sonic despondency. The result: a careful balance of richly electronic emotional cuts and racy industrialised techno with a gritty minimalist feel. "Not only the music is destined to evolve, but the whole environment that goes with it will be rethought on a recurring basis" adds Jeremy.

Title track 'What I Was Running From' was made after he finally found inspiration after the pandemic and was written in an hour. "I think my best tracks are made fast, as they don't reply in any intention but feelings only, therefore they are natural and reflect my true style" adds Jeremy.

Its fast paced bassline and jittery stabs, give the track a choppy break beat influenced vibe opening the album with true intent. 'What I Was Running from' offers a transcendental eye through the looking glass at a project that incorporates music, a digital interactive universe, a fashion collaboration with precocious Parisian footwear brand Phileo. A creative collaboration which has resulted in a limited collection of 2 styles, available on both TWND's digital universe and Phileo direct.

First released back in 2011, When We On was the sixth album from the Nottingham-formed Crazy P. Most significantly, however, it features songs that went on to become signature tracks for the band's live performances, including 'Heartbreaker', 'Open For Service' and 'Eruption', delicately balanced by more home listening experiences like 'Changes', 'Beatbox' and 'wecanonlybewhoweare'. Since its first and only original vinyl pressing, it's been commanding increasingly huge amounts on the second hand market, so time for 20/20 Vision to step in and re-issue complete with the original masters, Victoria Topping artwork and Bandcamp code that gives access to the full 11 track digital album as well as the vinyl. Essential for fans of the P, but also a good starting point for the curious, falling about half way through their history and at the start of a particularly purple patch.

Splitradix FFT is a fast Irish transform (fft) rhythm for computing the discrete musical acid (aux note relative), and was first described in an initially little-appreciated paper by R. Yavne (1978) and subsequently rediscovered simultaneously by Central Processing Unit label owners in 2021. (The name "Splitradix" was coined by one of these re-inventors, S. Hennelly.) In particular, Splitradix is a variant of the Electro-Vocoder FFT rhythm that uses a blend of analogue 2 and 4: it recursively expresses an emotion of length N in terms of one smaller aux of musical N/2 and two smaller DFT of Fenix Pcm/70.

We are very proud to present you the third release on Schatzimusik with the reissue of the much sought after I.B.M. – Computer Love 12″ inch and an unreleased track and a remix. For this release we have teamed up with none other than Dario di Pace & Raffelle Arcella from Naples, better known as Mystic Jungle and Whodamanny. The two have done numerous remixes for very well-known Italo-Disco songs. For this remix, they have delivered a brilliant reinterpretation of Computer Love. Rhythmic, driving, funky and playful, they put Computer Love in a new light. The release is rounded off with the previously unknown track “Metropolis” and the long version of “Computer Love”. A little background info on the original vinyl. Thomas Waver & Rudi Raders the two originators of the group I.B.M. emigrated to Alicante (Spain) in the 80s. They stored the records of Computer Love in the attic of Thomas’ aunt. Unfortunately, she died, and the attic was dissolved along with the records. So, the original vinyl is unfortunately a rarely seen item.

The first ever cut on the seminal and stellar German record label Acid Orange, owned by Beroshima himself, aka Frank Muller. An absolute masterpiece of intelligent dance music that with its over thirty total minutes opens up wide spaces of pure listening and lays the foundations for the development of what will soon be recognized as minimal techno. But above all it is a political record that frames delicate social issues and carries a clear message of how music and art in general stands against all forms of occupation and repression. The reissue comes courtesy directly by the author, great artist and true ambassador of good vibes, and we are proud to contribute to the spread of the "Untitled" manifesto.

After a short hiatus Deep In Dis intl. is back in the game. This time bringing you a split EP by two young prolific producers who have been in our radar for quite sometime now, Eric OS and Lewis. With both artists being based in Sweden and each one of them with a characteristic sound, we thought it would be a good idea to split our next release between these two cutting edge talents and that's how the Timebomb EP came to life.

We first discovered Eric tunes through a Binh set last year at the Nostromo Festival and we instantly knew we had to get Eric on board for a future project with us and here we are. With releases on System Error, Eya Records and his own imprint Space Trace, Eric brings to the table all those elements that made us get up off the back stage sofa and lose it on the floor. Flipping the record we have the Data Flow head label Lewis bringing us another two special club cuts. Having released a digital EP with us before, we couldn't wait to press some of Lewis analog soundscapes.

A1. 'Eden' is a true dance floor filler , endless groove and quirky sounds penetrating your brain while taking you in a break with some dreamy pads and even stranger synth lines. A2. 'Timebomb' keeps the vibe going, even higher this time. The formula seems to be timeless. Progry melodies, wonky bassline, and solid drum patterns.B1. 'Project Mayhem' invites us to close our eyes and travel without moving with its hypnotic groove, the feeling of pleasure, energy and empathy increases and floats the dancefloor in a never ending way. Closing the EP 'Acid44' spills a lysergic groove on the floor with no possibility of escape or return. Infected synth lines, snappy snares and some serious bassline are the powerful potion of the track.

[R]3volution H3roes Vol.3 concludes the second AA.VV. trilogy which includes special tracks created by some of the best artists on the techno scene.

In Logo Side, the EP opens with a masterpiece by Dutch Boss Dimi Angelis, making his debut on [R]3volution. Following the French Casual Treatment one of the most talented artists on the scene, already appeared in several previous releases on the label. Thr 3rd track of that side is "Drainer" by the label owner Michele Mausi.

On the other side (Info Side), we find the Australian Vohkinne. Follow another debut on [R]3volution for the American artist Muzmin, and to close another absolute debut for Viktoria, the German artist we are sure we will talk a lot in the coming years.

With this release the label celebrates the return to the ranks of the founder Worg. A triumphant homecoming comparable to that of Jason, the main character of the Argonautica, who travelled in search of the Golden Fleece (Il Vello d'Oro) aboard the ship Argo. After many vicissitudes, the hero returned to Iolco, his homeland, to reclaim the throne usurped by his half-brother Pelias.

This new chapter in the Lykos saga focuses on the deeds of Jason and the Argonauts, but also on a key figure who was indispensable to the success of this quest, Medea. Thanks to her and her magical skills, the fellowship of heroes succeeded in grabbing the Golden Fleece. Through careful sound design, hinted melodic cells and complex rhythms, Il Piano di Medea by Worg, sums up details and facts related to this extraordinary legend. Starting from the prophecies of the Oracles, to the tragic and bloody ending of the epic poem, which took place with the death of King Pelias by his own daughters, hypnotized and manipulated by Medea's magic.

The narrative begins with the track Oracolo, characterized by a syncopated groove, nebulous atmospheres and the presence of a dark anthropomorphic synth, which alludes to the solemn, grave and authoritative voice of an entity. A prophetic spirit that warns the listener of the dangers that lurk for those who dare to enter this new sonic adventure. In order to foretell the future and to spread their word, the gods took possession of the bodies of priests who had fallen into ecstasy, using them as intermediaries. In his reinterpretation of Oracolo Neel, the grand Maestro of techno, in a similar way uses musical elements such as a harsh and acid bass line or a tight rhythm to lead the listener into a psychic state of suspension and mystical elevation.

In the music piece Il Vello d'Oro, Worg draws attention to the rare preciousness of this magical relic, rumored to have the power to heal all wounds and for this reason longed by Jason. To evoke the purity of the golden mantle, the artist uses shimmering percussion, radiant textures and the omnipresence of an FM synth bass, full of brilliant harmonics. All enhanced by sound details scattered throughout the arrangement.

Eryx, the record's final track, has a fluid and sinuous flow, with sound elements that recall water, a natural element, protagonist of the Argonauts' journey to the remote Colchis. A melody echoes in the distance, disappears and resurfaces to then collide, like waves on the rocks, with the complex and jagged rhythms that mark the gradual evolution of the track.

Waage is a firm favourite amongst dub techno fans. The Icelandic producer has long been turning out icy and atmospheric rollers for the heads and here he works alongside a fresh name, Quantal, who is sure to go on to big things. Here they land on Thule Records, a legendary label in its own right with roots going back to 1995. They kick off with the textured dub of 'wq1' which has glitchy sounds paying over the rolling drums. 'wq2' is much more smooth and streamlined, with an underwater current that sweeps you off your feet, then 'wq3' leans into the wind with hypnotic techno drums and vamping chords that melt the mind. Last of all comes 'wq4', a timeless dub with infinite horizons and the most frictionless drum loops.

After having two of his earlier tunes remodelled by Carl Craig and Mike Huckaby thanks to Sushitech, Detroit's Delano Smith re-emerges on the label with a double pack of tunes made with Brawther under the D&B Productions. That moniker has more to do with the pair's name rather than a suddenly conversion to drum & bass, although there's a love of dubby effects and deep bass power here that - at a stretch - could be said to be in common. The six tracks - Symbiosis' 1-6 - are smooth and simple, but executed with an ear( or four) for an irresistible groove, an economic but rhythmic keyboard stab and a knack for squeezing something nicely soulful from the barest ingredients. Nice work indeed.

Delivering his first solo EP in over two years, Blue Hour releases Origins, the 21st release on Blue Hour Music. Following a succession of remixes, V/A contributions and an EP under his Tracing Xircles alias earlier this year, the Berlin-based producer and DJ shares four tracks diving deeper into his UK roots. Channelling breakbeat, techno and trance with the hallmarks of 90’s rave, Origins builds upon the foundations created from his EP ‘Devotion’ in 2020. In this eclectic EP, Blue Hour explores several sonic palettes. The title track blends celestial chords with urgent drums and acid basslines, while uplifting vocals and subtle melodies wind through the track. ‘True’ dips more heavily into breakbeat territory with evolving and immersive pads, soaring strings and a twinkling synth-line. A dynamic fusion of fast-paced energy and soft touches.

On the flip, ‘Emergence’ dances a delicate line between melancholia and elation, as dystopian chords pool with a squelchy acid sequence and a classic house vocal. ‘Searching’ closes on an ambient tip with spell-binding pads and an angelic melody, conveying a bright side to Blue Hour’s aesthetic, akin to Origins as a whole.

By its 6th release Swedish label Kvalia records heads towards an increased focus on dance floor heavy soundscapes and invites Mary Yuzovskaya. "Cozy EP" is the blend between Yuzovskaya's roots as a deep techno producer and her exploration of a more percussion heavy, stripped down sound.

Two young British producers share their skills for this thoughtfully constructed futuristic two-tracker. Jasper Tygner, who has been championed by Radio 1's Jamz Supernova, Jaguar and Sian Eleri, is a rising star crafting blissed out electronica. Meanwhile fellow Londoner Joe Hertz has also skyrocketed to success, especially since last year's soulful jazz-inflected Current Blues EP.

These two collaborative tracks are delicate soundscapes that borrow and reimagine club sounds. 'Equals' forms a slowly swelling early hours pulse with futuristic melodies, at once gentle and danceable. 'Second Thought' has a hazier beat, with swooping post-rave synths to ease you from the clubnight out into the morning light.

LA-based Ole Mic Odd makes a return to Source Material for second dose of booty acid beauty. after featuring on numerous labels worldwide in recent years. As its title suggests, the four tracks here have heaps of gnarly acid attitude and speed-wise are set to maximum twerk. All highly likely to keep your 3AM crowd rooted to the spot and away from any thoughts of heading off for the night bus or taxi rank, sure, but there's another layer to this release beyond such functionalities. Ole Mic Odd has clearly mastered the art of light and shade, because he barely needs a note or two to switch up the mood of 'Bunsen Burner' or the heavily electro-weighted 'LA Gear', meaning all four have depth as well as impact.

What is the sound of Russian dub? There is a storied history of attempts to adapt roots music to the Russian soil, but most of them can be attributed to reggae (the so-called 'northern' variety) rather than dub. Gost has history with the town of Smolensk. It's home to Gamayun, whose great album Filterealism was released on our label last year. Now Anton, one of Gamayun's members, presents his new duo Dubovaya Kolesnitsa (The Oaken Chariot). In his words, it has no connection to his other band at all, and is an attempt to go back to the roots of a genre that doesn't exist.

This isn't a serious theoretical proposition, but rather one with a sense of irony and joy: you can even feel it in the name of the collective. The Russian word for oak, 'dub', looks exactly like the genre, and the chariot emerged from the name for the group's jams - 'telega' - which can be translated as cart. All the music here is the result of live improvisations: no samples, just instruments (notably Vasiliy Shilov's bass). These recordings have been slightly edited, and even the almost indecipherable texts are freestyles. There's no place for real riddims in Russian dub: sometimes this record sounds like something akin to dub variations on underground Russian hip hop (and we mean that in the best possible way).

The music of Dubovaya Kolesnitsa is genuinely fun, free and mesmerising, but we could also approach it more conceptually. Theoretician Michael E. Veal describes dub as a 'postsong', taking the form of "linguistic, formal and symbolic indeterminacy". The duo's faintly eerie compositions call back to the notion of musical hauntology. There is an attempt, without any direct references, to reconstruct the feeling of something that was never there at all. A little nostalgic and very forwardthinking at the same time, the music of Dubovaya Kolesnitsa is best described in their own words. In the opening track, a voice can be heard saying "eto delo v lob", which means something like "it's a straight on thing". This is very direct, almost in the vein of folk music. This a great - and, it must be said, successful - experiment in searching for the soul of Russian dub. Simple as that.

Belfast-born, Rotterdam-based producer Kessler is back by popular demand. Endless EP - his second SNF release - sees him continue in the spirit of the previous one, deftly capturing moods and building worlds through breaks.

Some of these enchanting worlds are cushioned by warm tonal melodies and an instrumental quality ("Endless"). Others are harder to navigate, with skittish drum workouts which clatter around an already-complex soundscape ("Mare's Nest").

On "Aspect", things get emotional, not a far cry from the provocative nature of Overmono's music. Speaking of which, Belfast producer Optmst is drafted in to close proceedings, reimagining the title track and continuing in the same vein with emotive pads and pitched-up vocal licks.

From his humble beginnings in 2011, North African, Casablanca-born and based producer has been continuously shaping his sound signature in the sphere of electronic music, resulting in a cross-genres blend appealing to both DJs and music fans from all across the spectrum. After a small run of exalted singles and EPs, Polyswitch gravitates towards the full-length format with “praise THE Sun“ a 12-track sonic testimonial committed to the tradition of his previously released material, showcasing his distinct sense of substantially blending a vibrant profusion of musical currents. Emanating from an expression of delight and adoration, “praise THE Sun" can be used as a universal answer to questions like ‘What to do?’ when there are no other solutions left. Reflecting the times, recorded during periods of duress and uncertainty, “pts“ is a body of work conveying feelings of harmony, hope, love, and unity throughout sublime musical works. Within, the artist introspectively addresses perseverance and resilience using instrumentation as the prime expression vessel.

The fourth instalment of Best Of Various sees Marcello Cassanelli join the TLM family with Fantasia. Marcello is joined by Blake Franchetto on Bass, Giulia Barozzi on Vocals and Antonio Rapa on Drums. Next up is good friend of the label Zarenzeit with Deep Work featuring Roger Versey on vocals, a very deep track for the dancefloor. Onto the AA side and another new member to the TLM family, Stefano De Santis has some broken beat action for us with his tribute to his hero George Duke. Future Jazz Ensemble are back on TLM after their Rough Time EP earlier this year with a track called Freeway, it's a sample of what to expect from their forthcoming TLM album early next year. FJE are now a three piece with Guido Tabone on Saxophone and Michele Macchi on Percussion, the sound of FJE is ever evolving with more members joining the Ensemble for the album. Final track is from the unreleased vaults at TLM, Caruso with Vestimenta, originally recorded in 2015 and restored by Jose Rico.

David on the dubs. Hip-shaking dubbed out techno to stretch the night into day, or the other way around. Only 200 copies available, vinyl only, hand-stamped, all black.

Pragmatik is coming back with 4 original tracks in that limited series. Romanian artists Bryz and Dani Marcu are on side A and deliver an impeccable groove. On the flip, it’s French artist Jesus and no other than Chad Andrew to complete a minimal house EP perfect for the dancefloor.

Bristol native Daffy returns to Shall Not Fade with his second solo EP, focusing on the darker aspects of 4x4 garage.

The title track typifies Daffy's unique and forward-thinking take on UKG. The dynamic chant of a dancehall MC is ramped up to invigorate a UKG stomper, the product: a rude, flavoursome track which evokes Spooky and Riko Dan's "High Power". Serious. The aptly-named "Darker Days" is more reminiscent of El-B with cool-toned low end growls before "Take It Easy" and "Warped" bring things to an energetic close with a stomping 4x4 rhythm and warped bassline which nod to old school speed garage.

Our second sound-clash instalment sees Panix lock heads with Dj Snowy Buffet. Based out of South London, Panix made a name for himself in the dubstep scene, before emerging as one of the most exciting producers of UKG and breaks. The A1, "Premium Dubz" combines moody bass-lines with ravey stabs to make the ultimate 2-step dance floor killer. The A2, "Hefty" does exactly what it says on the tin.. Hefty basslines and squeaky clean 4 to the floor drums. Dj Snowy Buffet is another veteran of the dubstep game, producing under the well known WZ. Surfacing as his new alias, the Czechoslovakian producer shows depth to his game with a bouncy UKG sound. The B1, "Can I Tell" provides skippy garage drums and synths certain to light up any set. The B2, "Club Life" showcases the darker side of UKG, with warping basslines and amen breaks.

Mures are Joshua Cordova and Santiago Leyba. They fit perfectly as Mrt010, transporting the label from the cold, grey, drowned in concrete atmospheres of Acid Ernst to the working class heat of the American south. Electronic body music, factory music, machines intensify their rhythm as degrees rise. Hot iron is forged, sweat and black stains cover bodies, hard labor, the struggle and the hammers, tools for modern times restraint. Rare Metal and Workers have just paved the way to that bullet that is Trains of Thought.

Minimalism, Simplicity and Functionality.
