Release:2018 / EU – Original

Eomac is back in 2018 with a brand new album. After an intentionally quiet release schedule in 2017 to focus on developing a new label and presenting a monthly show on Radar Radio, he returns to the album format with the 11-track ‘Reconnect’.It is his third studio album proper and the first on his burgeoning Eotrax imprint.Continuing where ‘Bedouin Trax’ and ‘Temple of the Jaguar’ left off, ‘Reconnect’ moves even further from the contemporary dancefloor and club environment and deep into uncharted territory. Drawing influence from traditional Irish music, Haitian voodoo drumming, the raw old-school jungle of Source Direct and the abstract rhythms of Autechre, Eomac has crafted a dense, multi-layered and polyrhythmic exploration of percussion, texture and movement.Inspired by ideas of ancient ecstatic dances and reconnecting with the wild nature that exists in us all, the album imagines how we might cast off the layers of conditioning and all the limitations that keep us from being fully ourselves. In reconnecting with who we truly are - with earth, mother, nature, spirit and moving away from lies, illusions, dogma and the conditioning we receive in a society that sees us as consumers and objects instead of people - maybe we can find the connections that are needed to embrace a more equal, tolerant future. Maybe we can find the courage and motivation needed to begin dismantling the greed-based, white-male-dominated structures that hold us back.

Eomac expands the roster of his recently inaugurated Eotrax imprint with the introduction of two forerunners in Berlin's techno scene: Kaltès and Nene H. Both have built respected reputations as exciting artists to watch, as Kaltès organizes Tresor Berlin's female:pressure-affiliated party series and Nene H. turned heads with her Fountain Of Fire performance at Berlin Atonal Festival. Their collaborative record, the Protest EP, presents a call to arms and an empowered take on gnarly techno with a stormy industrial underbelly. For Kaltès and Nene H., the music channels a current zeitgeist. A wail—a rallying cry—appears on each track and provides the record's central motif. In that sense the theme acts as a statement to which each featured artist contributed, including the two remixers: Orphx's Christina Sealey and the Irish Eotrax alum LAIR. It's a howl of anguish, but not from heartache or misery; it's a defiant, determined and empowered battle cry. On "Persist", staunch kicks summon the vocal from a swamp of metallic textures, while on "Resist" it's placed at the center of a thundering black hole, drawing the listener in deeper. In the hands of Christina Sealey, it becomes a smoldering element in a rolling EBM cruiser, whereas LAIR spreads it over a backdrop of shifting ambient textures and dark celestial grumbles.

Eris Harmonia is the new EP from acclaimed Dublin-via-Berlin duo Lakker. It is an investigation of disparate styles and sounds reflecting different reactions and emotional responses to the current world climate of chaos and uncertainty. After finishing Struggle & Emerge Lakker retreated to the studio to find fresh inspiration. In their words: ‘We talked of needing a black space or empty white page in which to experiment with sound, genre and structure freely, without expectation and without time constraints or release deadlines.’Eris Harmonia formed in this empty space. Disparate tracks gradually formed as a cohesive whole - fractitious strands of a larger piece. They seemed to resonate with a similar theme, a theme that mirrors and builds on that of Struggle & Emerge - inner and outer chaos and harmony. Disorder, and the search for a pathway through it. The attempt to find inner peace while navigating the chaos that surrounds us in the world at present. Trump, Brexit, white supremacy, capitalism, corruption, biased media, fake news, the refugee crisis, extremism, violence, rape culture, misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, and that’s just the beginning of the list….The past acutely affects the present. What will our future be? How do humans progress from here? What’s next? Regression? Destruction? Darkness? Light? Community? Harmony? How do we get to a point of harmony when there’s so much fear and hatred in the world, so many fearful people opposed to community and togetherness?Eris Harmonia asks these questions and attempts to find answers. To find balance. The name comes from two Greek Goddesses - Eris, Goddess of disorder and strife, and Harmonia, Goddess of harmony and concord. Two Goddesses, because right now the Goddess is needed more than ever.
