Punk rock institution Bad Religion began recording New Maps Of Hell, the follow-up to 2004's heralded The Empire Strikes First at Grand Master Studios in Los Angeles in mid-February 2007, just as Greg Graffin was giving midterms at his other job: professor of Life Sciences at UCLA. Originally released on July 10, 2007, New Maps Of Hell is co-written with Epitaph head Brett Gurewitz, and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer). Gurewitz states, "we all liked the concept of maps, because we are exploring new material on this record, both musically and topically." Quite a feat for a band that has been around for 25+ years.

Acclaimed Los Angeles punk rock band Bad Religion will release a new album entitled Age of Unreason on Epitaph Records on May 3. Since the group’s formative years they have steadfastly advocated for humanism, reason, and individualism. Now, when these values are in decline and nationalism and bigotry are on the rise, Bad Religion’s message has never been more essential. Age of Unreason delivers a powerful and inspired response - a political and deeply personal treatise on all they believe in.

“The band has always stood for enlightenment values,” co-songwriter and guitarist Brett Gurewitz explains. “Today, these values of truth, freedom, equality, tolerance, and science, are in real danger. This record is our response.”

The songs on Age of Unreason are both furious and meticulously crafted. There are references to contemporary events; racist rallies, Trump’s election, the erosion of the middle class, Colin Kaepernick’s protest, alternative facts, conspiracy theories, and there are homages to the literary and philosophical works that have long inspired the band.

There's no mucking about from Raised Fist frontman Alexander 'Alle' Hagman when he's asked for his feelings on their new studio album Anthems. The urgency and sincerity with which the songs are delivered on the Swedes' seventh album belies their status in the scene. 'It's so non-generic and it's not touching anything of this generic hardcore metal digitally produced shit that you can hear bythe dozens every hour you look up bands' Alexander says. 'Right at this time, we're actually producing something that has a new sound'. It doesn't fit the usual rock n roll myth that bands are able to stick around for 7 records. The band wanted to focus their efforts on just ten tracks to keep the album short and sweet and the intention clear. 'We've never done anything like this before and the quality is a big step-up from the things we've made in the past.' Produced by Roberto Laghi & Jakob Herrman at Top Floor Studios in Gothenburg and Oral Majority Recordings, the guitars and drums punch through with a driving beat to raise your fist too. Alexander insisted that all 10 songs have a recognisable hook to grab the audience's attention.'We felt like we created a masterpiece' - Alexander Hagman

As described in 2002: The music has the furious beat and driving buzz saw guitars of classic punk rock, but when a vocal chorus cuts in, it is surprisingly harmonious and emotionally evocative, reminiscent of The Beatles or The Everly Brothers. This is a sonic contradiction that works to stunning effect. It is also a sound that has come to define one of the world's most original rock bands, Bad Religion. Including the hit track 'Sorrow'.Black & White Vinyl.

Philadelphia-based punk band, The Menzingers are set to release their sixth studio album, Hello Exile. Produced by Will Yip (Title Fight, Quicksand), the album is the follow-up to the band's 2017 critically acclaimed release After The Party. Since forming as teenagers in 2006, The Menzingers have shown their strength as rough-and-tumble storytellers, turning out songs equally rooted in frenetic energy and lifelike detail. On their new album Hello Exile, the band take their lyrical narrative to a whole new level and share their reflections on moments from the past and present: high-school hellraising, troubled relationships, aging and alcohol and political ennui. And while their songs often reveal certain painful truths, Hello Exile ultimately maintains the irrepressible spirit that's always defined the band. The Menzingers are: singer/guitarists Greg Barnett and Tom May, bassist Eric Keen, and drummer Joe Godino.

In early 2016, D.C. punk legends Brian Baker (Minor Threat, Dag Nasty, Bad Religion) and Michael Hampton (S.O.A., Embrace, One Last Wish) met up at Hampton's Brooklyn home to play music together. Friends since first grade, the two guitarists ended up writing a handful of songs that day, then closed out the session with a spur-of-the-moment decision to start a band. When it came to finding a bassist, Baker and Hampton looked to Johnny Temple of Girls Against Boys and Soulside (another fellow student at their elementary school), who equally shared their passion for what Temple refers to as "loud, angry, visceral music". By the end of the year, the band had enlisted Refused frontman Dennis Lyxzén as their singer, thus cementing the lineup to punk-rock supergroup Fake Names.Soon after dubbing themselves Fake Names - a moniker that's part Raising Arizona reference, part recognition of the "ubiquitous and demonic use of the term 'fake news'", according to Baker - the band headed to Renegade Studios with the goal of creating a demo to present to record labels. But after playing those recordings for Baker's Bad Religion bandmate Brett Gurewitz, the Epitaph founder made an unexpected proposal. "Brett said to us, 'This isn't a demo, this is the album,'" Baker recalls. "He was pretty adamant about putting it out exactly as it was, so that's what we wound up doing".

The Garden have been carving their own path since their formation in 2011. With 3 LP's and 4 EP releases, they have become known musically for their fast, punk influenced jungle and DnB styles, and have consistently touring since 2013.While live, they are known for a mix of aggressive, unpredictable and trickster-ish tendencies - this new album, Kiss My Super Bowl Ring rivals the previous albums lyrically and sonically with an unmatched belligerence. The album is primarily self-produced, but includes tracks co-produced by the likes of Dylan Brady and Wharfwit, along with tracks featuring Ariel Pink and Khalif Jones (aka Le1f) and even a snippet from Carrot Top. The album shows it's first bit of skin with the opening track, "Clench To Stay Awake" - a track based off the experiences of both brothers mysterious health issues over the years. Kiss My Super Bowl Ring boasts a roster of songs that just might be the most creatively rattling yet from the duo.

Thick is a Brooklyn-based punk trio featuring Nikki Sisti (guitar, vocals) - Kate Black (bass, vocals, guitar) - Shari Page (drums, vocals). Their debut album 5 Years Behind came to life at Studio G Brooklyn with producer/engineer Joel Hamilton (Iggy Pop, Jolie Holland). Over the years, THICK have earned recognition as an unstoppable live act, with their show typically spawning a mosh pit described by Stereogum as "more like an aggressive hug." As they dreamed up the tightly crafted yet uncontainable sound of 5 Years Behind , the band kept the live experience at the forefront of their minds. "When we write, we write toward the emotions of the audience," says Sisti. "I know that lyrics play a huge role in connection, but I'm personally more focused on visualizing how people might physically respond to a song-what it would make them feel in the moment and how it might make them move or dance." Now gearing up for a national tour in support of 5 Years Behind , THICK aspire to strengthen the palpable sense of inclusivity that's defined their shows from the start. "We want people to feel safe in the mosh pit, and hopefully connect with each other," says Page. "We've made so many friends at the shows we've played, and we'd love it if people could build some kind of community from coming to see us."
