brainwaltzera debuts on FILM. The anonymous producer, whose work has has already received online approval from legendary british IDM auteur aphex twin, offers up an extended EP for the berlin based imprint. In 2015 a soundcloud profile under the name user18081971 - now identified as belonging to richard d. james, commented on curious brainwaltzera upload quilat spring 1 [outtake]. the move prompted speculation as to who exactly is behind the music. exquisitely produced and executed in such fine fashion so as to decry pure imitation - there’s plenty to theorise here. regardless of their true creator - which will undoubtedly remain a secret for the time being, the compositions on FILM006 are of similarly high calibre. Varied in approach and marrying both electronic & acoustic elements with ease, the six tracks that comprise the record range from yearning ambient segues and dreamy down tempo grooves to otherworldly krautrock and more direct, dance floor fare - but remain bound tight as a cohesive and functional body of work by a glorious, arcane musicality. whether weaving soft electronic tones in and amongst snappy breaks or detuned drum-machine strikes, the artist’s ear for acoustic harmony is perhaps the pervading theme across the six tracks that make up the aecoba EP, marking it out as an excellent addition to the FILM label’s growing catalogue. The release comes in a gatefold cover. Brainwaltzera’s debut LP “Poly-Ana” follows quickly on the heels of the producer’s Aescoba EP - also released this year via Film. Across thirteen tracks of both previously released material and fresh excursions into the artist’s world, Brainwaltzera explores sounds ranging from luscious, downtempo grooves and expertly reduced braindance cuts with nods to early 90’s experimental IDM to harder, more caustic outings - all bound together by a recurring theme of otherworldly ambience.

High quality sleeve with pearl paint varnish. Keshavara debuts on Film. Taking it’s influence from downtempo Alt-Pop and Hip Hop, but with nods to blissed out Dub and World Music, the Indian producer arrives on the Berlin based label with Creators of The Rain. Danny Wolfers takes control on the flip - turning in a gorgeous, transcendental remix under his Legowelt alias. Live instrumentation provides the backbone of the work, dusty drums drive the music forward, complemented by shifting dub-guitar leads, off kilter bassline licks and delayed drum machine breaks. Singer Gio’s vocals sit comfortably at the back of the mix, soft but inviting, present but realised with a distinctly otherworldly energy.

The EP draws from across the brainwaltzera "s enviable discography, including reinterpretations of recordings fea-tured on the recently released poly-ana album, which received plaudits from underground dance music hea-vyweights. The Brainwaltzera remix EP offers wholly personal interpretations of the original material, but the music remains true to the artists own production aesthetic, with nods to classic Electro, IDM and Minimal Synth. Andrea Noce aka Eva Geist takes on Kurzweil Dame, lifted from the poly-ana LP. Gently shifting the work from it"s 4x4 rhythm to a decidedly eccentric half time dub pulse, the Fleeting Wax affiliate augments the reductivist drums of the original with her own snappy perc hits, eeking out a new, beautifully arcane energy from the source material. Newcomer Ignazz arrives with little more than a handful of Soundcloud uploads to his name. The producer flips Marzipan (leftovers) to great effect - transforming the original from blissed out IDM into a classic Electro cut with considerable poise. Luke Vibert and newcomer Guavid turn to Brainwaltzera"s Aescoba EP for their picks, both choosing to rework 10_muddy_puddle Trot, a choice cut from the artist"s recent discography. On his reimagining, the AFX co-conspirator holds on to the original hook - but loses the classic break that arrives in the latter part of the EP highlight, opting for caustic zaps and a driven, high energy drum machine rhythm to buoy up the piece, while Guavid draws for straight dance-floor science - injecting a heavy dose of funk into the package, pittin

Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
marvin horsch debuts on Berlin’s FILM with an EP of exquisitely produced, cinematic electronica. the cologne based producer develops the colourful house found on previous work for the dorfjungs la-bel, with three playful compositions that draw as much on jazz and krautrock as more contemporary strains of alternative electronic music. opener ‘omnisession#1′ marries a beautifully shifting organ with live drum work before segueing into the glorious softness of ’sun after rain,’ a rich synth solo drenched in tape hiss. closer ‘negobebo#2′ wraps up the EP - an energetic, looping recording replete with staccato drum-machine strikes and warm, wet verbs carrying a spirited lead across it’s six minute duration. An honest record, open and expertly executed - fukushisha is an admirable addition to the FILM cata-logue.

If you take a closer look on his artistic activity since the early 80ies ever then you will quickly realize there is a whole universe to uncover foald from around this artist. Our suggestion: Start with this fine EP, featuring a hidden secret artwork that unveils in the dark.
