The story remains one of the music world’s most unusual tales of the 1970s: an obscure debut LP by a Detroit singer-songwriter becomes a source of hope and inspiration to the anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa. Now, the story of Rodriguez and his cult album Cold Fact is the basis for Searching For Sugar Man, a riveting new documentary by filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul. Light In The Attic Records in partnership with Sony Legacy are honored to announce the release of the original motion picture soundtrack, comprising tracks from Cold Fact and its 1971 follow-up Coming From Reality – both reissued in 2008 and 2009 by Light In The Attic. The soundtrack begins with the otherworldly “Sugar Man” and acts as a primer to this long-overlooked musician’s fusion of gritty funk, political poetry and blissful psych-folk.Searching For Sugar Man, a Red Box Films & Passion Pictures Production in association with Canfield Pictures & The Documentary Company, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in the U.S., was a big hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it won the world documentary audience award and a special jury award, and then went on to screen at SXSW, Tribeca, and the Sheffield Doc Fest. The film opens in New York, Los Angeles, and London (via Studio Canal) on July 27th and will play in other cities throughout the coming months. For a complete release schedule, visit the film’s website: www.SearchingForSugarManMovie.com.
Back in the late ‘60s, Rodriguez was discovered in a Detroit bar by renowned producers Dennis Coffey and Mike Theodore. They recorded a 1970 album that they believed was going to secure his reputation as one of the greatest recording artists of his generation. Instead, Cold Fact bombed, and despite the release of a second LP, entitled Coming From Reality and produced by Steve Rowland, Rodriguez drifted into obscurity, even being subject to rumours that he had committed suicide by setting himself on fire onstage.Cold Fact took on a life of its own when a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid-era South Africa. Banned by the government, the album became a country-wide phenomenon over the next two decades, and the soundtrack to a resistance movement of liberal African youth. Back in Detroit, working in construction and renovation (he also ran for mayor), Rodriguez was totally unaware that he was not just a folk hero but a household name thousands of miles away.Decades later, two South African fans, Stephen ‘Sugar’ Segerman and Craig Bartholomew-Strydom set out to find out what really happened to their hero, and their investigation led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the many myths they’d heard. Their story forms the basis of Searching For Sugar Man.Both sides of the story, Rodriguez’s life in Detroit and the subsequent impact of his music in South Africa, proved fascinating to Stockholm-based documentary filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul. His short documentary films for Swedish Television’s international cultural weekly show Kobra became the basis for such films as Men Who Stare At Goats (George Clooney) and The Terminal (Tom Hanks). The evolution of the financing, production, and filming of Searching For Sugar Man is as fascinating and complex as the life of Rodriguez himself.“I describe myself as ‘musico-politico’,” Rodriguez said recently. “I was born and bred in Detroit, four blocks from the city center. Back then, I was influenced by the urban sounds that were going on around me all the time. Music is art and art is a cultural force. As far as my work from Detroit comparing to the South African Apartheid, the similarities echo. The placards of the 1970s in the United States read things like: We Want Jobs and Stop the War – I was looking at the music from a working class perspective that was relevant, as it turns out, to the kids in South Africa.”

The result is a pysch and dark jazz- funk sound thatperfectly fits the anxious descent looking human psyche's labyrinth. One of the best, still underrated, Italian soundtracks ever and one of the mostunforgettable Italian jazz sessions of the 70s. Columbia Sound Treasures Series presents one of the holy grail of Japanese Anime original soundtracks (usually going from prices ranges between 300 and 700 euros), finally properly remastered and reissued for everybody to enjoy! Seiji Yokoyama is famous and known for having scored the animes “Captain Harlock” and “Saint Seya”. But as a prolific artist, he has done other somehow more confidential works, and amongst them the soundtrack for “The Tomb Of Dracula”, a 1980 TV anime movie by Toei Animation and based on the comic series developed by Marvel. The pitch : Dracula is messing with the church of Satan and stealing Dolores , the bride to be of the devil himself, falling in love, having a kid with her and trying to deal and escape all his enemies, including the devil, his followers, Frank Drake, Quincy Harker and Rachel Van Helsing (the daughter of Van Helsing) and even vampire-sniffing dog who wears a giant cross around its neck. At one point Dracula loses his powers and has to resort to mugging people so he has enough money to buy a hamburger. The soundtrack is a mysterious and strange combination of baroque, classical, disco and funk tracks which is the trademark and unique style of Seiji Yokoyama. The Theme of “Quincy Harker” reflects perfectly the atmosphere of the record, being laced by both classical baroque elements with a funk groove on some heavy drums. The soundtrack is as crazy as the movie and the 80's. 200 copies are available on a 1LP of 13 tracks including a 30 x 60 color insert.

Rome, Aventino, one of the most amazing neighborhoods in the South area of the capital city. In an old garage, fully stored and preserved, tons of 1/4 inch tapes represent the monumental and brilliant work of one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century: the master Piero Piccioni. Caring for, listening to, and taking stock is his son, Jason. We asked him to select three out of many; three chapters of the master’s work, three scores to be rescued and brought to the light in all their expressive and communicative power. Camille 2000 would be the first in the ongoing series. Never published until today on vinyl, it was carefully transferred from the original masters and embellished with several alternative takes and fragments that remained unpublished until now. The work of restoration was performed by Giuliano Radiciotti, while the mastering was made by multi Grammy winner Brian Lucey. "I remember when I heard this music for the very first time in my father's studio in the early 90s. It was truly something revolutionary. It sounded so contemporary that it seems it was written in those days. Can't believe it was twenty years before then, instead!"

The Italian funk god Luis Enriquez Bacalov is celebrated here with this unmissable 7-inch record, featuring two of his grooviest tracks ever: on the A-side, the legendary Carrefour is maybe his funkiest soundtrack piece, here released for the first time in its entirety, with an unexpected introduction via a powerful horn section, which was cut from the original 1976 RCA 7’’. Behold an eternal jazz-funk masterpiece with solid drum breaks and hip hop heavy beats, funky congas, wah wah guitar, psychedelic organ. This track was used for the 1976 movie “Colpita da improvviso benessere”, directed by Franco Giraldi, but was originally conceived for the 1974 movie “Sistemo l'America e torno” by Nanni Loy. For the B-side, we have chosen from this same score another killer groovy track which was already compiled on our Esterno Notte Volume 1 compilation. Sistemo L’America E Torno - SEQ. 7 has a tremendous rhythm section, a wonderful guitar riff, psychedelic flute, and stunning Hammond organ solos. This is another future classic from the golden age of Italian soundtracks, and an absolute must-have for any and all jazz-funk DJs worldwide!

With their charming look of exploitation LPs, Sexedelic's Sexedelic and it’s ‘brother’ album The Vampires' Sound Incorporation's Psychedelic Dance Party (also reissued on Wah Wah as LPS185) hide the joint works of German composers Manfred Hübler and Siegfried Schwab that were used on three classic 1970 b-movies directed by Spanish film maker Jess Franco:· Vampyros Lesbos· The Devil Came From Akasava · She Killed In EcstasyBesides the film director and the soundtrack composers, these three films also shared the presence of Spanish actress Soledad Miranda.Manfred Hübler's work, other than the one appeared on these three films, remains pretty unknown - although prior to partnering with Siegfried Schwab he did soundtracks for several other films and TV series from 1966 through 1969, among them Intercontinental Express (TV series, 12 episodes in 1966), Code Name Is Kill (1967), Polizeifunk ruft (TV series, 6 episodes in 1968), Der Partyphotograph (1968) and The Butterfly (1970).Siegfried 'Siggi' Schwab, on the other hand, has an extense career with hundreds of recordings, including soundtracks and records, and is also known as a key member in albums by krautrock bands like Et Cetera or Embryo (his guitar pyrotechnics are big part of the personality of their Father, Son and Holy Ghosts LP which was also reissued on Wah Wah some years ago).Original copies of these LPs could be found for next to nothing in European flea markets until the mid 1990s, when Lucertola Media compiled them both on the 3 Films By Jess Franco CD. The amazing sounds that mixtured jazz pianos, easy listening brass section, psychedelic fuzz guitar, pop harpsichord lines, exotic sitar, and funky bass & drum beats were rediscovered and given new life when a compilation LP featuring the grooviest tracks from both albums was an instant hit which ran high in the alternative music sales charts. The legend grew when 'The Lions And The Cucumber,' opening track from The Vampires' Sound Incorporation's LP, was picked by Quentin Tarantino and given mainstream exposure on his third film Jackie Brown (1997), starring Pam Grier, Robert Forster, Robert de Niro, Samuel L. Jackson, Bridget Fonda and Michael Keaton. The ‘Vampyros Lesbos sound’ became a classic, awakening also new interest on the movies themselves which have been also issued on DVD since then. The music of Hübler and Schwab has also been sampled and revisited by many artists.Since then, original copies of The Vampires' Sound Incorporation and Sexedelic LPs fetch small (and not so small!) fortunes in the collector's market. Now, for the first time, the original albums from which all these amazing tracks were taken from are reissued in its original complete tracklists and sleeve artwork. Owning these two LPs is the only way to have in vinyl format all the original material issued by Hübler and Schwab - all previous reissues omit tracks from the original LPs.Now, for the first time ever, these extremely sought after LPs get a straight reissue in their original artwork, expanded with the inclusion of an 8-page full colour booklet that includes many photos and liner notes.Made in a limited edition of 1000 copies.

Limited edition for Record Store Day 2017!One Way Static Records presents for the first time on vinyl and exclusively for Record Store Day 2017: “Metropolis”, ‘An Original Re-Score by Metavari’ for Fritz Lang’s 1927 cinematic classic.Metavari is the stage name of Indiana-based electronic musician Nathaniel David Utesch and is best described as the intersection of nostalgic electronics, ambient soundscapes and off-kilter synth pop music. Since 2008, Metavari have toured extensively in the US; sharing the stage with notable acts such as This Will Destroy You, Maserati, Tortoise, Titus Andronicus, Anamanaguchi, The Appleseed Cast & Small Black.Nathaniel is also publisher of the art and fiction zine, Ferocious Quarterly; and as one half of the Secretly Group art department has designed packaging for bands such as Suuns, Foxygen, Jens Lekman, Julianna Barwick and Tim Heidecker. It comes as no surprise that Nathaniel also took upon him the art direction for this release, all in the 1927 spirit & tradition of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.Musically it all plays out like a dream, filled with midnight joyrides in stunt cars from Miami Vice. “Imagine Tangerine Dream's Edgar Froese at the wheel, David Lynch rummaging the glove compartment for matches and Phil Collins bound in the trunk."It all fits on here: hints of Twin Peaks, John Carpenter, the reoccurring Metropolis themes in combination with sparse live drums, an alto saxophone, vocals and the sounds of a 1981 ARP Odyssey Mark III. The sweet electro-pop tunes could easily underscore the next Nicolas Winding Refn film. Also, did we mention the fantastic homage to Lindsey Buckingham’s ‘Trouble’?The Metropolis re-score started as a cinema-commission & was performed alongside the film for a sold-out audience on Art House Theater Day 2016. Now it comes to vinyl for the first time, exclusively for Record Store Day 2017. Gorgeously packaged as a double LP edition with gold-foiled jacket artwork. Strictly limited to 1000 copies and a download card will also be included.

Yuji Ohno is a Japanese jazz musician born in 1941. He’s principally known for his musical scoring of Japanese anime-television series, of which Lupin III and the feature film The Castle of Cagliostro are his most well known works. Ohno is also well-known as a member of a jazz trio with bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Lenny White. The tracks collected here for Lupin The Third: TV Special are oozing with seventies cool, exemplified by opener ‘Theme From Lupin III’: the snares shuffle, the pianos tease and the upright bass walks with all the swagger of a French master thief. “The Girl With The One-Eyed Cat” is a never released before soundtrack from a never released before Pinky Violence movie. Supposed to be out in 1971, this movie never made the light of day, even in Japan, because it was simply too violent and weird! It tells the story of a pimpstress and Yakuza contract killer who uses a one-eyed cat to kill her targets, they are mentally bound and can control each other. After being hunted by former employees, she decides to go on a rampage and eliminate all of her enemies, each one being sadistically killed, this resulting in bizarre scenes filled with rivers of blood and Japanese weirdness. Only some old pictures meant to be used for promotional purposes, and the explanation of the grandson of the director of the movie. The original rushes were, of course, destroyed in a fire and legend says that it could be possible that a backup copy exists somewhere in the Toei Archives. That said, the soundtrack is what you would expect from a Pinky Violence OST, fuzz guitars, drum breaks, funk themes all together, the particularity being that some of the tracks were also ''borrowed" from other Pinky Violence movies (and/or used later too in other Movies / TV Shows, but first created for this movie ) because the creators of this particular movie wanted to state that it was, unlike the others of the genre, completely above the law, so basically stealing music wasn't a problem, but mainly an act of rebellion, non-conformism, anyway here is the complete original soundtrack as intended to be at that time, first time ever on vinyl for everybody to enjoy. 200 copies are available on a 1LP of 20 tracks including a 30 x 60 color Pinky Violence themed insert.

Bruno Nicolai is a leading figure in the world of Italian soundtracks although he is primarily known for being the most important of Ennio Morricone’s collaborators and his orchestra conductor in the period of Morricone's greatest production (60‘ and 70’s). But Nicolai's solo works are certainly not of lesser artistic relevance. Tempo sospeso (Suspended Time) is one of the most representative albums in this sense that it was produced by Nicolai in 1975 without any filters or restrictions, in the period of his greatest artistic maturity. The style of his thriller soundtracks of the time, such as The Red Queen Kills Seven Times, Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key, The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, and Eyeball, is evident here, as well as the vibe of the "electrified" western, largely for the acid fuzz guitar of Alessandro Alessandroni. The instrumentation is varied and the Maestro plays piano, harpsichord, organ, and synth. What is presented here is library music that is definitely above average. The new graphic design of this edition was created by Daniel Martin Diaz from Tucson, Arizona, known for his symbolist works that have been published in The LA Times, NY Times, Juxtapoz, High Fructose, and Low Rider Magazine, as well as four of his own art books. Inside the LP is a free postcard/photo of Maestro Nicolai, a portrait in front of his MOOG. Cover in solid cardboard.

One of the rarest and most sought-after Italian holy grail soundtracks ever is finally back from the grave! Originally released in 1966 on Beat Records (45-BT 024), the KRIMINAL main theme was written by Romano Mussolini (Raymond Full in the opening credits) and Roberto Pregadio for this sleazy crime-pop movie directed by Umberto Lenzi, and based on the cult Italian comic hero. Actually, this could be considered one of the best swinging jazz-beat themes from the 60s, with its wonderful horn, acid vox continental organ, and terrific rhythmic guitar. On the B-side, we have another jewel from 1960s Italian spy-pop cinema: the main theme of “Il cobra” (from the Mario Sequi’s movie). This swinging and uptempo jazz-beat piece, written and conducted by the Spanish composer Antón García Abril, is a poisonous shake with a supergroovy mood – a double-sided floor-filler, not to be missed by any serious soul-jazz DJ.

After 40 years since its theatrical release, presented here for the first time on vinyl is the phenomenal soundtrack for IL GATTO DAGLI OCCHI DI GIADA (also known as ‘Watch Me When I Kill’) - directed by Antonio Bido (director of THE BLOODSTAINED SHADOW). This top-notch score is undeniably catchy, yet has its creepy moments. The film’s score was created by a supergroup specifically formed for this project and consisted of Adriano Monteduro (vocals and guitar; known for his 1974 record in which he was accompanied by prog band Reale Accademia Di Musica), Glauco Borelli (bass, already in Alberomotore), the well-known composer Mauro Lusini and Gianfranco Coletta who, besides being one of the pioneers of Italian psychedelia with Chetro and Co., was also a founding member of the Banco del Mutuo Soccorso. They chose the name Trans Europa Express with direct reference to Kraftwerk, who released their seminal record with the same title a few months prior.‘Watch Me When I Kill’ certainly has the compositional techniques and instrumentation related to Italian prog, but only less attentive and interested listeners might dismiss it as mere "Goblin-esque”: eerie sound interludes percussion, carillon, piano pieces, distorted and mystical screams, an old tunes in gramophone style, moments of (seemingly) tranquility and rock. The cyclical repetition and varied vaguely Goblin-ian guitar, cadenced by a pressing bass (which occasionally resembles that of Pink Floyd’s “One of These Days”), and a spectral and creepy scat vocal gives the listener pleasant moments of both fear and hypnotic tension. The LP comes packaged in a heavy cardboard cover with hollow cat eyes and a yellow inner-sleeve with photos from the set provided by director Antonio Bido.

Mondo celebrates the 30th anniversary of the “Castlevania” franchise with the premiere vinyl release of the original soundtrack to the 1989 Famicom / Nintendo Entertainment System Three-quel / Prequel: “Dracula's Curse”.“Dracula's Curse” is a dark horse for most beloved of the original NES / FAMICOM trilogy, as it was a happy marriage of the linear elements of the first “Castlevania” and the more exploratory elements of “Simon’s Quest” – a union that led to the introduction of multiple playable characters, multiple paths and multiple endings – that remain franchise staples even today. The story follows Trevor Belmont, Simon’s ancestor and his battles with the prince of darkness, along side three other warriors: Grant Danasty the Pirate, Sypha Belnades the Mystic, and Alucard, Dracula’s Son, who makes series debut here, and will play a more pivotal role in the games to come. The soundtrack to “Dracula's Curse” is important as well. Not only for fan favorite track ‘Beginning,’ a track you’d be nary to find excluded from any future “Dracula's Curse” game, but for the dynamic audio introduced on the Japanese version of the game. The VRC6 Audio chip contained in the Japanese version allowed for a wider array of sound channels, producing a brighter, fuller soundtrack than on the cartridge released in the US. The Nintendo Entertainment System could not process this level of audio, so the version released in the US needed to have the audio scaled back. Despite this audio handicap the US version is still terrific, and the superiority of the which version best is still a matter of debate to this day. No need to choose though, since Mondo’s vinyl re-issue contains both, spread across two LPs, housed in a gatefold jacket featuring amazing new artwork by Sachin Teng.

Genre:Film / TV
Limited edition for Record Store Day 2017!Limited edition on clear acid green vinyl!Goblin's name is very popular since the year of ""Profondo Rosso"" (1975), but even those who know them in depth ""Notturno"" remains an almost completely unknown chapter within their vast discography. The production the music was composed for was edited in two versions, a theatrical one released in 1983 and a television one in seven episodes that was broadcasted only three years later.Led at the time by Fabio Pignatelli (bass), Maurizio Guarini (keyboards) and Antonio Marangolo (saxophone), with the precious contribution of Derek Wilson (drums) and Marco Rinalduzzi (guitar) - from the line-up that had just recorded ""Volo"" - Goblin composed the music for ""Notturno"" already at the end of 1981, upon request by the RAI TV producers. The recorded material was then selected by Cinevox, that only in '83 published the film's soundtrack on LP: given the poor success of the film, also the soundtrack album went virtually unnoticed. It was a pity, because Goblin here returned to work in a field where they almost have no competitors, that of music for films, creating a work that is tense and melancholic at the same time, combining jazz-rock and fusion with the sounds of the early '80s; tension, however - which can't be missed in a spy movie - is always delivered by the soundtrack rock component. The essence of Goblin's music is completely enclosed in the beautiful ""Nocturne"", an opening track that swings among echoes of '007', references to the ""Zombi / Dawn of the Dead"" OST, energetic guitar riffs and synthesizers that dialogue with the keyboards.Re-released on CD a couple times, ""Notturno"" has never been reissued on vinyl before. This AMS Records edition, exclusively made for the Record Store Day 2017, expands the original tracklist with the addition of unreleased takes and with a completely different artwork and a poster that includes a presentation text and reproductions of rare material related to the movie. Although not excellent from the sole cinematographic point of view, musically ""Notturno"" is yet another jewel made by artists that had film music rushing in their blood!

"Mark il poliziotto" (Blood, Sweat and Fear) is a 1975 movie directed byStelvio Massi, the first of a successful trilogy featuring Franco Gasparri asmain character in the role of drug squad commissioner Mark; the actor hadbeen borrowed from the world of photonovels, typical Italian photographicstories published on several magazines that saw him as protagonist forseveral years. The film is one of the most successful examples of the'Italo-crime' genre under many points of view: the plot, the script, thebreathtaking chases and shootouts and, last but not least, the soundtrack. The music for "Mark il poliziotto" was written by Stelvio Cipriani, who hadalready worked with Massi the previous year for "Squadra volante"(Emergency squad). An extremely prolific composer, he can undoubtedly beplaced next to Micalizzi, Bacalov and Morricone for the quantity andespecially the quality and importance of his works.More than many others, this soundtrack is pervaded, in its most energetictracks, by a strong funky groove that recalls the typical sound of the US'blaxploitation' phenomenon; the classical/orchestral component isn't presenthere, in favor of a mix of rock music, wind instruments and keyboards likeHammond and Harpsichord. Everything is, as usual, perfectly balanced withmore smooth and reflective tracks such as "Tenerezza", "Lei e la madre","Nella stanza di lei" and "Porte chiuse".A great Italian 'poliziottesco' classic, originally released in '75 by CinevoxRecord and never reissued on LP to date. This edition, curated by AMSRecords, contains a second take of the song "La fine di Cobb" as a bonustrack, a front cover faithful to the original one and a completely new artworkthat includes extensive liner notes and reproductions of flyers and lobbycards of the film.

A killer Italian Blaxploitation Sound, unreleased on vinyl fo far. Limited to 500 on 180g vinyl.Perhaps not everyone knows that Alessandro Alessandroni, the Master of Italian library music, had also composed several original soundtracks from late ’60s to early ‘80s, especially for many “genre” movies such as poliziotteschi, sexy comedies, spaghetti western, horror and thriller. Among them, Sangue di sbirro (Bloody Avenger), is certainly one of the most prestigious works made for Italian cinema in the 70s: an Italian noir set in Philadelphia, where the jazz-funk library’s background of the Maestro meets deep soul &black music. An obstinate rhythm which opens to jazz, funk and disco, with moments of pure easy listening (Tema di Susie is one of the best Alessandroni’s film themes). Sounds and arrangements typical of blaxploitation (including an original reinterpretation of Shaft’s theme) but with a proudly Italian’s touch. As always, many excellent soloists are playing here, including a young Enrico Pieranunzi on Fender Rhodes, Dino Piana on trombone and Silvano Chimenti on the electric guitar.

With their charming look of exploitation LPs, The Vampires' Sound Incorporation's Psychedelic Dance Party and it’s ‘brother’ album Sexedelic's Sexedelic (also reissued on Wah Wah as LPS186) hide the joint works of German composers Manfred Hübler and Siegfried Schwab that were used on three classic 1970 b-movies directed by Spanish film maker Jess Franco:· Vampyros Lesbos· The Devil Came From Akasava · She Killed In EcstasyBesides the film director and the soundtrack composers, these three films also shared the presence of Spanish actress Soledad Miranda.Original copies of these LPs could be found for next to nothing in European flea markets until the mid 1990s, when Lucertola Media compiled them both on the 3 Films By Jess Franco CD. Owning these two LPs is the only way to have in vinyl format all the original material issued by Hübler and Schwab - all previous reissues omit tracks from the original LPs.Now, for the first time ever, these extremely sought after LPs get a straight reissue in their original artwork, expanded with the inclusion of an 8-page full colour booklet that includes many photos and liner notes.

Limited edition for Record Store Day 2017!One Way Static Records presents exclusively for Record Store Day 2017: “Cobra Verde” (Original 1987 Motion Picture Soundtrack composed by Popol Vuh).Born as Florian Fricke’s brainchild, Popol Vuh needs little introduction, the band stayed active between the late 1960s & late 1990s (until Florian’s passing in 2001). Regarded as pioneers in avant-garde German electronic music, their early works practically laid down the foundations for ‘Kosmische Muzik’ (Space Music) with the then new sounds of the Moog synthesizer joined with ethnic percussions. Later the group evolved to include all kinds of instruments (both electric and acoustic alike) shrouding their music in a spiritual & introspective mystical aura.Popol Vuh influenced many other European bands with their uniquely soft but elaborate instrumentation, which took inspiration from the music of Tibet, Africa and pre-Columbian America. With music sometimes described as "ethereal", they created soundscapes through psychedelic walls of sound, and are regarded as precursors of contemporary ‘world music’, as well as of ‘new age’ and ‘ambient’. The band regularly contributed soundtracks to the films of Werner Herzog that include classics like ‘Aguirre’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘Heart Of Glass’ & of course ‘Cobra Verde’.“Cobra Verde” (featuring Klaus Kinski) was the final collaboration between Popol Vuh and director Werner Herzog. Originally released in 1987, this is the first time the soundtrack gets a vinyl release outside of Europe.Regal chants accompanied by hand drums, guitars, piano and clavier in a sacred manner are alternated with synthesizer themes that have a tense/dramatic & haunting effect. African ceremonial music and the Choir of the Bavarian State Opera corner this as a landmark meditative & ambient piece of cosmic music.Out of print since 1987, now back available as a gorgeously packaged deluxe vinyl edition, exclusively for Record Store Day 2017. Strictly limited to 1000 copies on green vinyl and comes with insert and extensive liner notes. A necessary purchase for both Popol Vuh fans and Herzog collectors.

Key players are hired in from the late 60's Norwegian jazz-scene and you can hear early talents like Jan Garbarek and Terje Rypdal in full bloom! The result is a vivid soundtrack that could rank up with any good 60s 70s European groovy soundtrack score!

Death Waltz Recording Company exhumes another classic soundtrack from the world of horror cinema with Bruno Nicolai's incredible score to the 1981 Emilio Miraglia giallo „The Night Evelyn Came Out Of The Grave“ (aka La Notte Che Evelyn Usci Dalla Tomba). The film is as mad as its title; Evelyn is dead before it starts and her previously institutionalized husband Alan, who has begun to murder strippers as a form of therapy, is duped by his cousin who wants to rid of his heir. Oh, and there's the matter of Evelyn's resurrection and a whole dose of other murders - it's unreal.Adding to the surrealism of the situation is Nicolai's deranged score that mixes super effective jarring orchestral with electronic effects and speed jazz that has truly disconcerting time signatures. It's absolutely creepy and utterly terrifying with queasy quivering synthesizers that sound like an entire waves of insects and the juxtaposition of a fantastic bass line with a sawing string effect that is just sickening. And then there's the beautiful typical romantic giallo melody that really stands out, with vocals courtesy of the iconic Edda Dell'Orso. (Charlie Bridgen - Editor: Films On Wax)This 180-gram vinyl 2LP is housed inside a beautiful 425gsm gatefold jacket. The artwork of this limited edition one off pressing has been designed by Eric Adrian Lee.

African movie soundtrack "Ceddo" - composed by one of our favourite African artists, Manu Dibango. 6 tracks full of Funk. With a great story behind.... now it's getting a full vinyl re-issue!The film takes place during the 17th century : period of slave-trading and of the introduction of Christianity and Islam in West Africa. The adherents of these religions all desired and hoped to pack their buildings, mosques or churches,by whatever means necessary. Arms and alcohol began to appear, as well as shoddy godds --- gadgets from another era. Anyone with a rifle tracked down and trated men, women and children. Man became money. After having converted the royal family and government dignitaries, the Imam encounters the refusal of the "Ceddo". For the Ceddo, adhering to Islam or to Catholicism would mean renouncing African spiritualism, giving up being themselves. To accomplish his goals, the Imam usurps the throne with the complicity of the dignitaries --- similar to the coups d'Etat of our days. Combining spiritual and temporal power, the Imam reduces the recalcitrant to slavery in exchange for rifles. He obliges the others by force of arms to accept Islam. Ceddo is a film of reflexion, birnging together bits and pieces of facts and authentic events that took place in a period spanning the centuries up to the present day.

Fire Walk With Me is an altogether more brooding affair than the Twin Peaks series soundtrack. Badalamenti won a grammy for the title track of this LP and it's not hard to see why- it's dangerous, and bursting with smokey jazz thanks to Jimmy Scott. We went back to the master tapes in the Warner Archives and had this recut to fit across two LPs as the score clocks in at 51 minutes. It sounds incredible and punchy, but super nuanced too. From the brooding opening bars of the main Fire Walk With Me Theme, Angelo Badalamenti's gorgeous, eerie score introduces us to a cinematic experience which significantly begins with the smashing of a television screen. Just as the Main Title from Blue Velvet echoed the Hitchcockian hues of Bernard Herrmann, so here we have just the slightest touch of Taxi Driver, as Jim Hynes' plaintive, keening trumpet soars above a landscape of melancholy keyboards, drawing us into a world which is at once alien and familiar. This release is housed in a 425-gsm gatefold sleeve inside a bespoke black die cut outer jacket with black spot varnish finish, complete with obi strip and sleeve notes by film critic Mark Kermode (approved by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti The artwork got fully approved by the director as the audio got approved by the composerThe 180-gram „Cherry Pie“ vinyl 2LP got remastered by Tal Miller at Warner Archives, while laquers were cut by David Cheppa at Plush Vinyl.

Second release from the vaults of Spettro and another classic Italian gem of the late Sixties, a wonderful score from the genius of Bruno Nicolai, renowned for his long collaboration with Ennio Morricone and for countless and beautiful works for tv and cinema. Femmine insaziabili – also known as Carnal Circuit – is a 1969 Alberto De Martino giallo flick (with a young Romina Power) whose best part is without doubt the original soundtrack. With the help of the voice of the sublime Edda Dell’Orso, Nicolai delivers an amazing Italian giallo soundtrack, regarding an "insatiable female" as the title suggests, full of beat sound, orchestral landscapes, unbelievable themes and at least two or three classics like I Want It All (two versions, the instrumental ones being the best), I tuoi sospiri and Nostalgia di un incontro - some of the finest examples of Nicolai's penchant for wordless female vocals in an instrumental setting. This completely remastered reissue comes in a thick cardboard gatefold sleeve, with a stunning new artwork, rare and unseen photos from the movie in the inner, poster and 180 gr. vinyl.

Ennio Morricone’s famous soundtrack composed for the 1971 Franco Rubartelli documentary “Veruschka, Poesia di una Donna” about the legendary VERUSCHKA the world’s first supermodel, a real 60’s/70’s icon, who appeared in several cult movies including Blow Up, Salome and Coleur Chai. In Rubartelli’s movie we follow the beautiful model in a shockingly surreal journey through the rural countryside of Italy on a downward spiral of self-discovery that leads her through so many whacked out head trips; heavily dark and sad with some of the most stunning psychedelic eye candy you can find from the freak out era of filmmaking, perfectly tuned with one of Ennio Morricone’s best scores. A true one kind of experience.

A tough, funky ‘70s instrumental score that perfectly fits the insane violence of this seldom-seen Lee Van Cleef hitman film! QUEL POMERIGGIO MALEDETTO (aka THE PERFECT KILLER) is one of the wildest, sleaziest Eurocrime movies ever made; it ultimately got made with Lee Van Cleef as the star and featuring such sexualized violence as a female getting shot in her nether regions, a straight-razor fight with trans women and some rapes that make you feel more uneasy than do most. But no rundown of the "stars" of this film could be complete without mentioning Stelvio Cipriani's funk score. Mind you, the '70s was already a funky decade of music, just as the Eurocrime genre was already a violent and sexual movement of cinema. But both Cipriani's score and the film pushed together to find new extremes of funkiness and raunchiness. Normally if someone hears playing '70s instrumental funk says, "What is this? It sounds like porno music!" ... well, that's grounds for departing from his or her presence, perhaps not to return. It's terribly limited thinking to associate all instrumental funk from the decade with smut movies. And yet, I must confess there's a certain sleaziness (and I use that word lovingly) in Cipriani's MALEDETTO title track that perfectly evokes the on-screen tawdriness to come. The wah guitar. The prominent electric bass. The slithering, laid-back horns. It's an ingenious groove and yet dripping with sleaze. And even though there's a laconic mid-tempo quality to the title theme, there's also something that drives it steadily forward. And that perfectly captures the doggedness and determination of Van Cleef's hitman character, who constantly pushes forward in his quest, even after he's been betrayed by his former partner, his new criminal organization and his woman. (In fact, it was QUEL POMERIGGIO MALEDETTO that crystalized in my mind how well the Eurocrime genre worked when operating within these "one man against the world" stories.) In any case, let all nerdy trivia questions fade away as you get lost in some magnificent, sleazy funk by maestro Cipriani. And we'll "see you in Hell, kitten.”

Probably the most scary soundtrack Goblin has ever written (don't listen to it when the lights are down!); it seems that the score was composed before the film was ready, so that director Dario Argento had to make some changes to the movie script, in order to have the music perfectly suited! This legendary soundtrack combines elements of music and sound scary effects going far beyond traditional background scoring, becoming an integral part of the film. As critics say nowadays, SUSPIRIA music "is so perfectly integrated into the film, fares less well as a stand-alone item. All that pounding, howling, thumbing, and wheezing is enough to send chills down your spine even without the movie images (it is the perfect imaginary soundtrack), but not all of it could be called a pleasant listening experience (unless your idea of pleasant is having your nerves set on edge)".180gr. high quality black vinyl edition.

A stunning Piccioni score for the soundtrack of the homonymous film directed by Al Bagram (a pseudonym under which the Spanish filmmaker and screenwriter Alfonso Balcázar worked). Jazz-noir numbers and disturbing chamber arrangements enforce the dark atmosphere of the film, a gothic film from 1972 that transcended the italian GIALLO tradition (which was actually an Italian-Spanish co-production). The themes created by the Maestro for this metaphysical horror bring to light a disturbing classicism, wrapping the listener in a gloomy (often nightmarish) horizon. One of the most sought after soundtracks by Piero Piccioni, available for the first time on vinyl on SUB OST.
