The legend continues in Zelda & Chill III. Mikel returns with a third installment in the beloved lofi series, and fourteen brand-new beats from the Legend of Zelda universe.

With the release of Zelda & Chill in 2018, Mikel & GameChops broke new ground. The album was met with overwhelmingly positive reactions and paved the path for many more videogame music and lofi concept albums to come. Mikel released a follow-up, Zelda & Chill II, in 2020 — and it was once again met with rave reviews. Now, he returns in Zelda & Chill III: a fourteen-track album filled with classics and deep cuts from the Legend of Zelda series.

Mikel is a music producer and engineer based in Germany. His sound is characterized by organic grooves and instrumentation, and a minimalist lofi vibe. While the Zelda & Chill series stands as his most popular work, he is also the creator of Poke & Chill, and frequently collaborates with his brother, Jokabi (known for the Chilltendo series).

Zelda & Chill III includes tunes from the GameBoy hand-held Link’s Awakening, the Nintendo 64-era Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess for GameCube and Wii, and the 2010s’ A Link Between Worlds for 3DS and Breath of the Wild for Nintendo Switch. Composers heard on the album include Koji Kondo, Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, and Toru Minegishi.

Using hex SPC data crudely converted to MIDI, Jammin' Sam Miller painstakingly recreated DKC's soundtrack note by note, by finding the original equipment used to create it, translating the MIDI into a modern studio context, adding in keyboard samples, and re-mixing the sounds with added effects and mastering. Fan-favourite Bomberman Hero first appeared on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, and promptly blew everyone’s collective minds with its soundtrack. Series regular Jun Chikuma continued her winning streak of memorable VGM compositions by changing the formula to the franchise completely and removed all traces of chiptune. Instead, drum & bass, leftfield electro and even a touch of acid techno rip through the proceedings, like 808 State remixed by a chilled-out Goldie, making this album not just a bonafide classic for VGM fans but also a damn fine LP for electronic & breakbeat enthusiasts. Outside of its Japanese CD release in 1998 (now excruciatingly difficult to find — and afford!), the album has been unavailable in international markets, besides the occasional inferior-sounding LP bootleg, which is why we are so thrilled with this pressing: it’s the first official release of the soundtrack on vinyl - mastered from a new original hardware recording - and it should absolutely not be missed!

It’s a love letter to the history of video game music, dancing confidently between genres, moods, and themes while weaving together a fully realized portrait of the game’s unique world.

A Playstation game originally released in 1997, "notam of Wind" fascinated video game fans at the time not only with its level of reality and difficulty to solve the tasks in the game, but also with its brilliant and ahead-of-time soundtrack.

"notam of Wind" was released in 1997 by ARTDiNK Inc., known for producing popular simulation video games such as "A-Train" series ('85 onward) and "Aquanaut's Holiday" ('95). The title "notam" is an aviation term that stands for "NOtice To AirMen", which works as a permission to take off. The meaning is "the wind gives us a flying permit for our flight" according to the game developer.

The game, in which players operate a balloon to clear conditions in two modes, "Round" and "Tritask," drew attention for the realism of the balloon operation and the world view of the three stages, in which the weather and time can be set.

And one of the reasons why fans still talk about the game is its soundtrack.

The music produced by the ARTDiNK production team, while based on electronic music, is not confined to the genre of game music, but is diverse, ranging from ambient, house/techno, electronica, and city pop, with futuristic sounds and a high quality that has been greatly acclaimed, and a soundtrack version had been eagerly awaited.

In addition, the cover artwork was created by Hiroshi Nagai, who created the image of city pop, which is currently being re-evaluated worldwide.

A co-op coalition of Laced Records, Fatshark, and Games Workshop has summoned forth a deluxe triple vinyl for Jesper Kyd’s incredible new Warhammer 40,000: Darktide score. 48 tracks have been specially mastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight galaxy-effect discs in yellow & black, blue & black, and red & black. The widespined outer sleeve features a spot gloss logo on the front cover; while the three spined inner sleeves sport artwork by the Fatshark team. Darktide succeeds Fatshark’s much beloved Vermintide series with brutal co-op action set in the dystopian future of Warhammer 40,000. Composer Jesper Kyd’s many challenges included capturing the pomp and propaganda of the Imperium’s Inquisition; finding a way to represent ‘living machines’ the size of city blocks and thousands of years old in the lore of the game, but still tens of thousands of years more advanced than our own; and finding the sound of the dangerous lower levels of the Underhive. He spectacularly achieves this with characterful choral and folk instrumental performances layered among all manner of vintage analog synths, giving the whole soundtrack a rusty, mechanical but not robotic feel — all dusty data and grinding grooves. It’s a unique score that sheds the orchestral and electric guitar palettes of other Warhammer titles.

The visionaries at Bethesda, Arkane and Laced are bringing the twisted ’60s soundtrack for award-winning looper-shooter Deathloop to wax. The complete 59-track soundtrack has been specially mastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight discs. These will come in spined inner sleeves housed in a rigid board slipcase. Tracklist curation and stunning original sleeve artwork is by the team at Arkane Lyon.

Music agency Sencit teamed up with powerful yet soulful vocalists for trailer and credits songs, including Bond-ish banger “Déjà Vu” (featuring Fjøra), “Pitch Black” (featuring Lady Blackbird) and “Down the Rabbit Hole” (featuring Samantha Howard & Haqq.)

Like life, the best soundtracks are a many-splintered pathway — encompassing everything from the happy moments to the scary unknowns. Composer Max LL has clearly experienced the up, down and sideways whimsies of humanity, because he captures them so poignantly in the score to Spiritfarer. This is a daring album, not because it’s recklessly brazen, but also, in fact, because its just the opposite - it’s not afraid of simplicity, finding absolute joy in single notes and sounds. Presenting Gris Piano Collections - a selection of fifteen pieces from Nomada Studio's evocative game Gris, arranged and engraved for piano by David Peacock, performed by Augustine Mayuga Gonzales.

Released in 1988 for the little-known NEC Pc-8801 gaming console, Last Armageddon is a Final Fantasy-esque post-apocalyptic game set on a world in which demons and mutants fight alien robots for dominion over the wasteland that Earth has become. The game was moderately popular in its native Japan, spawning a sequel in 1994, but never made it to the global market.

The soundtrack composed by the great Koji Hayama (who would later make his name with soundtracks for the Cho Aniki series, as well as his work on Nintendo’s Smash Brothers), is one of the finest examples of video game music from the 80’s. Particular praise should be awarded to the immediately recognizable “Battle Theme”, which has gathered millions of views on YouTube. One listen, and it’s clear why - the song combines invigorating electronic beats with earworm melodies, and with just a touch of nostalgia added in, it’s perfect for almost any situation. That’s not to say that the rest of the album is lacking in any way, with songs that range from spooky ambient (“Nighttime Movement Theme 2”) to full-on industrial dance numbers (“Spaceship Control Room”), spread across 13 tracks. Originally released on CD and cassette, P-vine is proud to be giving Last Armageddon’s soundtrack its long-deserved release on vinyl! With an obi-strip and modern remastering, this is the best this album has ever looked or sounded!

Composer Lena Raine’s already rich and vibrant Chicory soundtrack takes on a fresh life, courtesy of composer and pianist Trevor Alan Gomes, for this all-new album. It’s the sounds of Chicory as you’ve never heard them before, thanks to the magic of 88 keys.

And in keeping with that theme of creativity, David René Christensen crafted stunning new album art for this release. It’s truly a work of art and a labor of love.

Its main mechanic consists in preparing drinks using the available ingredients, but rather than just following an order to advance through the story, it's up to the player to decide what kind of drink to serve. Released in partnership with Sega of Japan and composer Tomoya Ohtani, The Music of Starfall Islands is a collection of beautiful instrumental and classical-inspired tracks which are used as the background music for the various islands in Sonic Frontiers. The music for each island is presented as a suite, containing several movements that layer upon one another and build up to a climax, each with its own distinctive tone and feel, much like the islands themselves, which range from green meadows, to arid deserts, volcanoes and beyond. The music, composed solely by Tomoya Ohtani, is often stripped down, melancholic, and unexpectedly experimental, featuring an array of unusual sound sources (including Iranian percussion, Celtic vocal samples and Armenian folk instruments). In other moments, it is often rhythmic and emotive, with the addition of subtle electronics and the grandiose strings of The Nashville Scoring Orchestra.

While this release is by no means the complete soundtrack to Sonic Frontiers, we are thrilled to be able to present these beautiful and intriguing tracks as a collection on their own. With its downbeat tone and new compositional approaches, this music is unlike any Sonic soundtrack that has come before and may well subvert the expectations of some long-term fans, but should also surprise and delight audiences both new and old.

As Tomoya Ohtani explains in his liner notes for this release: “I wanted to create an atmosphere for each song that, despite the sadness it carries, also has a glimmer of hope. I do not believe there are many other pieces of Sonic game music that focus so much on the atmosphere as the tracks on Sonic Frontiers do.”

The special limited edition vinyl features the complete soundtrack of the demo sourced from the original masters as well as printed innersleeves, a 24x24 inch double-sided poster with extensive liner notes on the fascinating history of the Amiga demoscene on one side and a floppy disk print on the other, and a WRWTFWW sticker sheet. Odyssey is also available in digital format.

Wikipedia says: The demoscene is an international computer art subculture focused on producing demos: self-contained, sometimes extremely small, computer programs that produce audiovisual presentations. The purpose of a demo is to show off programming, visual art, and musical skills. Demos and other demoscene productions (graphics, music, videos, games) are shared at festivals known as demoparties, voted on by those who attend and released online.

In the demoscene galaxy, one era was particularly exciting: the Amiga years during which the demos were created for the Commodore Amiga home computer - a time of intense rivalry between programmers, graphics artists, and computer musicians, testing the limits of the (fixed) Amiga hardware.

The Odyssey demo was one of the largest productions ever released by an Amiga group, a real sci-fi movie on five floppy disks made with 3D sequences. It was presented at a demoscene party in 1991 and won the competition, setting a new standard for Amiga demo possibilities.

One of the highlights of the demo was the funky cosmic music from Swiss composer Greg, a true space opera, the 90s galactic soundscape you didn’t know was missing from your life! And so here it is, available for the first time, 10 tracks of pure video game music joy, adventurous computer pop, pixelated techno-trance, Star Wars gone floppy disk, and interstellar beats for days.

Trevor Alan Gomes's Piano Collections: Chrono Trigger album takes the same sort of pristine, crafted quality of the Final Fantasy Piano Collections to a beloved classic that had not yet been explored on the piano to such an extent. The vibrancy and creativity of Chrono Trigger translates to a piano album that is dynamic and versatile, with a fusion of classical, jazz, rock, Japanese pop and more, but in such a way that feels organic and essential. Each track has been carefully selected to create the most complete picture of the game possible in ten tracks.

While the arrangements have been written to give a sort of new life to the originals, at the heart of the Chrono Trigger Piano Collection is the desire to honor its source material and fill its listeners with the same bittersweet nostalgia that the game so immediately evokes.

With a gun full of lead and a fistful of witchcraft, Laced Records has formed a posse with Ice Code Games and Good Shepherd Entertainment to bring you music from turn-based supernatural westerns Hard West and Hard West 2 to good ol’ wax.

All music has been remastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto heavyweight LPs. Disc 1 is transparent light blue and features the full 14-track OST from 2015’s Hard West. Disc 2 is transparent orange and boasts 9 tracks selected from the Hard West 2 soundtrack. LPs come in printed inners, which are housed in a spined sleeve. Sleeve artwork for Hard West is by Grzegorz Przybyś, while Division48 Studio created the sleeve art for Hard West 2.

With Hard West, Marcin Przybyłowicz (Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077) set the mood for the series, employing twanging guitar, pounding drum beats, lonely trumpets and various atmospheric elements. On several of his more anxious cues, snatches of piano, guitar and violin emerge from the echoey fog to keep players on edge, while maintaining the heightened mix of fantasy-horror and Wild West aesthetics.

For Hard West 2, Jason Graves (Dead Space 1&2, Tomb Raider [2013], Dark Pictures Anthology) gets grittier and grungier, while honoring the sound world of the original. Through his spartan use of bass guitar, percussion, and spooky synths, Graves summons a more primal, earthy sound, while still layering in the acoustic and electric guitars we associate with the dark side of the West.

Ubisoft turned to award-winning electronic music artist Simon Delacroix aka The Toxic Avenger to soundtrack the 2022 season of the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege European League. In league with Enchanté Records, we’re bringing six bangers to wax with the Breach EP.

The release is the culmination of a season-long collaboration that saw Delacroix apply his uncompromising sonic mastery of electronic music to trailers and broadcasts for fans to enjoy during their weekly Siege esports rendezvous.

Breach features three original tracks (“Robots Do It Better”, “Pulse”, and “A Really Big Fucking Hole”); a special treatment of Paul Haslinger’s Siege main theme; and two electro ‘reworks’ of existing Siege original soundtrack music (“Celestial Concerto” and “A Finishing Action”.)

Tracks will be mastered for vinyl by magicien sonique Joe Caithness and pressed onto a heavyweight LP in ‘toxic yellow’. This will come in a deluxe card sleeve with spot gloss UV effect, which will also include an art print insert.

It was inevitable that a successful game like Darius would receive a sequel, and in 1989 lucky gamers were treated to Darius II cabinets in their arcades. It has since gone on to become a fan favourite, and rightly so: you can’t mention scrolling shooters without mentioning Darius II.The game was ported over to gaming consoles in Japan the following year, and reached U.S. shores in 1991, under the title Sagaia, with a re-arranged soundtrack and different level layouts. But for purists the arcade version remained top dog, and it is with this in mind that we have pressed the original arcade version soundtrack for Darius II onto vinyl, making this its debut on the format!

Sega and Laced Records have formed a pact to present the music of Yakuza 0 (Ryū ga Gotoku Zero: Chikai No Basho) on vinyl.

The 6LP box set features 90 tracks including fan-favorite karaoke numbers '24-hour Cinderella' and 'Bakamitai.' All music has been specially remastered for vinyl and will be pressed onto audiophile-quality, heavyweight 180g LPs.

These come in printed sleeves, all housed in a rigid board box.

The soundtrack for Tekken 4 was unconventional for the series and more broadly, breaking new ground in the types of electronic music heard in video games. This double LP features 35 tracks from arcade and console releases by Akitaka Tohyama, Yu Miyake, Satoru Kosaki, Hiroshi Okubo and Keiki Kobayashi (collective credits include Katamari, Ridge Racer and many more.) Tekken 4 features brand new vinyl sleeve artwork by illustrator Samuel Donato aka DXSinfinite. Tracklists have been curated by four-time Guinness World Record-holder, multi-game world champion and all-round fighting game community legend Ryan Hart. Once more, Laced Records and Jagex clan up to bring fans a soundtrack from the RuneScape universe. God Wars Dungeon features 11 heroic tracks from the two high-level dungeons, composed by Adam Bond and Ian Taylor.

Video game rapper Raheem “Mega Ran” Jarbo and record label GameChops are releasing Black Materia: The Remake, a 22-track album of original rap songs inspired by Final Fantasy VII Remake, the award-winning 2020 reboot of one of the most popular video games of all time.

Featuring twenty five guest producers and rappers, Black Materia: The Remake takes listeners on a hip hop journey through Final Fantasy VII. The role playing game centers on a group of heroic revolutionaries fighting to bring down Shinra, an energy company that’s destroying the planet for profit.

Black Materia: The Remake retells the video game’s acclaimed story through narrative lyricism and powerful performances. The beats and backing tracks feature memorable moments from Nobuo Uematsu’s acclaimed Final Fantasy VII score.

Mega Ran is a leading voice in nerdcore hip hop, a subgenre of rap music which focuses on pop culture and video games. He has performed at hundreds of conventions, expos, and music festivals around the world, including Penny Arcade Expo (pax), New York Comic Con (nycc), and South by Southwest (sxsw), where he has rapped about everything from Star Wars to professional wrestling. In 2019, Ran was awarded a Guinness World Record title for the most video game rap songs ever released.

For Mega Ran, Black Materia: The Remake is the culmination of a more than decade-long career making hip hop tributes to video games. Following the viral success of his original Black Materia album in 2011, Ran left his job as a middle school teacher to pursue music full time.

“Final Fantasy 7 is eternal,” Ran says. “The magic surrounding that game will never die. The Black Materia album represents a landmark in the story of Mega Ran; so it was a little nerve-wracking to attempt to revisit it. But I knew if we were going to do it, it had to be bigger. We've all learned so much since 2011, and it's a welcome challenge to get together and showcase that.”

Original compositions for virtual game music recorded in 1995 by Los Microwaves founder David Javelosa. That period in the 90s was one of rare times that Los Angeles was sort of a fun. You'd go somewhere for a drink and hear the late 1950s-early 1960s quirky instrumental pop that became known that year by the "Space Age Bachelor Pad Music" sobriquet. Many of the 14 tracks you are ideally hearing now for the first time were inspired by that long-gone cocktail-glass-shaped crack in time. Made in a tiny Santa Monica studio, surrounded by bits and pieces of torn-apart game consoles, trashed Casios and forgotten keyboards, inventing this set of ephemeral computer-generated sounds. Javelosa remembers what begat the tunes. Thrasher in the Fast Lane, inspired by driving on Bay Area freeways, fast, after hours, an Astor Piazzolla melody blowing with the wind, a party in Mexico City, an exotic perfume, Chet Baker in the background. He's always been fascinated by the concept of computer-generated jazz – still is. The sound of uncertainty, musical cut 'n' paste, excitement when something occurs that maybe has never happened before.

Available on 2 150g 12” vinyl, this abridged edition features 33 of the most iconic tracks in Shenmue III. It comes in a gatefold and includes a booklet with liner notes (in both English and Japanese) by Yu Suzuki and other members of the Shenmue community, as well as archival artwork. It also includes a digital download code for all 33 tracks.

Yoshino Aoki (Breath of Fire III & IV) was no stranger to the Mega Man franchise, having already worked on Mega Man X3 as an arranger for its CD release and performing as a vocalist on the Mega Man Battle & Chase score, but for Mega Man Battle Network 2 she was given full composer duties. Her ability to set the perfect mood with catchy, melodic tunes caused many a player’s battery to run low from them backtracking certain sections just to listen to the music again!

Music and memory are inexorably intertwined. Familiar songs and melodies have the power to bring us back to distinct moments in time. Developer Glee-Cheese Studio’s A Musical Story, is, in part, an exploration of that almost mystical power. In it, protagonist Gabriel uses music as his spirit guide, embarking on an exodus through his own personal history, working to piece together the truth of his current reality.

This makes for an unforgettable, 70’s inspired audiovisual experience, featuring a narrative completely devoid of dialogue. A vision this bold practically demands its own vinyl release, and iam8bit was honored to oblige.

This is composers Charles Bardin and Valentin Ducloux’s inimitable soundtrack, presented across two discs and pressed on psychedelic purple and yellow vinyl. We’ve also included a bonus track from friend, Disasterpeace, made especially for this release (and which you won’t find anywhere else — how cool is that!?). The album art from Alexandre Ray, in keeping with Musical Story’s distinctive visual panache, is quite simply a feast for the eyes.
