The decade of the 80s is revived through recordings like "Eyes" that allow you to travel through the music and trigger those old emotions of innocence, joy and adventure. It's possible you don't understand a word of what they're singing in the chorus, but the song is very catchy! Maybe not even Maria Chiara Perugini knows what she sings about, but she makes you hang on to every word of her like a nursery rhyme of synths, beach and bubblegum. "Eyes" is so amazing, so mesmerizing, and more and more people are discovering this italo-disco masterpiece that usually satisfies and makes fun of you at the same time. If you try playing it at 75% speed gives a hypnotic vapor wave vibe! And even more, the song would have fit well in the dance club scenes from Scarface. There are no more boundaries in dance music. Transfer, the latest EP from Amor Satyr, not only pulls heavily from trance, but does so while also repurposing vocal clips lifted from Brazilian baile funk. On paper, it seems like an almost unholy musical union, but in the skilled hands of this Parisian, the combination is straight-up deadly. This is body music, and while the record's breakneck tempos and blazing synths are fully rooted in freewheeling rave traditions, its thundering low-end is muscular enough to push even the biggest favela soundsystems into the red. The EP's speedy title track rolls out crunchy melodies atop a broken rhythm and thick sheets of bass, but it's "Quer Dan?ar?" that perhaps best embodies the music's dual spirit, its swirly psychedelics unfolding atop booming, electro-indebted breakbeats and a potent array of face-smacking percussion. That array also includes a variety of finely sliced Brazilian vocal chops, which Amor Satyr expertly employs to punctuate the song's already dizzying drum attack. It's a technique he returns to on "Rebola," injecting a bit more life into the track's rumbling gallop, before wrapping up the EP on a brighter, bouncier note with the effervescent "Bebe."

Oi oi, Instinct is back with more gun finger touting, bass-face pulling garage goodness. This one from Soul Mass transit System click off with a dark groove and shuffling drums run through with plenty of old school signifiers. 'Poison Dart' is another one with marvelous scratchy drums and snares powering it feared as withering sonics, rude boy bass and hints of female vocal all get you marching along. 'Bad' closes out with wobbly bass and crisp hits. It's a more swinging groove with extra room for the sounds to hit that bit harder. Killer tackle.

The tireless Instinct label hits a quarter of a century of relays here. In that time is has remained at the very forefront of the garage revival with a mix of old-school classics and fresh new bangers. This EP from Main Phase has it all and opens with some naughtiness on 'Vibes' which features some rude bars from Troublesome. 'This That' is a high-speed pumper with late-night menace in the pads and 'Pain' then bumps on a US garage-style vibe with popping melodies. "Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the bassbins, Mysticisms brings the latest in its Dubplate series. After the success of his first digital dubb excursions on the version, Persian returns with a second 10” of reggae inspired electronics, covering Bass, Breaks, Digidub and now also, Jungle. Taking no prisoners with the massive opener Survival Dub, Persian marries classic breakbeats and toasting to bouncing, dance floor effect. THE party starter. This is followed by Smoke Mari, a looping steppas of FX and breaks to lay down the Dubplate clash. As ever the link between rave, breaks and sound system culture is explored, this time with the Roots’n’Lovers opening of There Is No Love giving way to a Junglist drop, before risin’ to a beautiful soul sermon. Finally, taking it all down, tings wrap with the deep, sampledelic dub of Zatoichi’s Troubles. With a bass to destroy many a speaker, it’s lanquidity morphs from the EP’s hedonism of sound clash styles to a gliding “tokers delight”. Smoke the Mystery. "

Returning to TRIP after last year's fantastic 'cheerful pessimist' EP, Vladimir Dubyshkin presents 'budni nashego kolhoza', an abstract portrait of the 'everyday life of a collective farm.' On these driving, iridescent tracks Dubyshkin is as self-assured as he is unhinged. He advances with a controlled intensity - taunting vocal cuts loop and spiral over pulsating, muscular rhythms that seem moments away from derailing. It's a gripping descent into delirium, dragged ankle-first by Dubyshkin.

For their second release of 2023, T4T LUV NRG present the “Temptation E.P.” by breakout L.A. based producer and DJ Introspekt. Between sets at West Coast renegades, Introspekt has caught the attention of DJs the world over with her heavy and beautifully crafted UKG productions on Gimme A Break and Shall Not Fade, including a forthcoming release on Interplanetary Criminal’s compilation for Locked On. T4T LUV NRG label heads Octo Octa and Eris Drew were introduced to Introspekt through Bored Lord and eagerly signed the Temptation e.p. on a first listen, already having been fans of her music. Their imaginations were immediately captured by this U.S. artist’s fresh take on UKG, which borrows certain motifs from Ballroom culture and classic house sounds. All of the tracks on “Temptation” utterly rip in a playful way but they also have a genuine emotion and narrative that Introspekt weaves through all the swingin’ beats and bass. We can’t wait to hear these juicy tunes work the bins over the coming months!

Following their much loved NTS radio shows and parties of the same name, the highly rated DJ/producers re:ni and Laksa have announced a brand new label, also called RE:LAX. On ‘Body Score’ Laksa continues to traverse the same 150bpm territory as his releases for Hessle Audio and Timedance, but here we also find influences from his job as a social worker. Chiseling bass weight, swung beats/loops and FX into new shapes with confident hands, ‘Body Score’ conjures mental images that’re equal parts wild humid rainforest and dystopian industrial complex. ‘Soulz’ sets the agenda from the outset; Featuring pumelling gut-punch bass and frenetic percussion, this tightly-wound ball of energy takes you deep into a dank cerebral vortex. Acknowledging the darkside of life – 'Bodies' samples the psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk. Like an ancient ritual, ‘Mind’ evokes scenes of drummers whipping dancers up into a frenzied higher spiritual state, and with its huge snare adding head-cracking accents, the unstoppable momentum thunders along ‘til the very last bar. Early support from the likes of Pearson Sound, Zenker Brothers, Darwin and Om Unit.

We present our second vinyl release Grit002, 3 weighty cuts of UKG from Tower Block Dreams featuring Killa P on the A-side. TBD set out to create an EP in the style of those darker garage B-sides from early 2000s. Kyoto, Japan producer Stones Taro has been making waves recently with his sick blend of percussion led UK-funky, house, garage, stripped back jungle and hefty UK influence; whether it's serving up grimey shellers or screwface bassline, he always brings the heat. The versatile producer readies four of his finest dubs yet on Cheeky Sneakers and thrusts himself into the spotlight currently shining on Asia’s underground electronic circuit. ‘Step Into Midnight’ skanks into the frame with it’s energetic 2-step and glitched-out vocal stabs creating a sense of grimey energy, before ‘Emotions’ begins to tug on the heartstrings with its teary-eyed, bubblegum UKG flavour; pitched vocals giving off nostalgic early 00’s wifey riddim vibes. Garage made with real tears. The second half of the record showcases Stones Taro’s knack for jungle. Classic R&B samples are intertwined with stripped back breaks and dubbed-out basslines on ‘Spend The Night’ to create a vibe similar to that championed by Ghost Phone, with their distinct reshaping of 90’s R&B through a contemporary lens. ‘Change The Mood’ sees us out with a score that wouldn’t sound out of place reverberating off the walls of a NYC underground as a busking drummer uses what he has to create a mood; a beauty lying within its careful repetition.

5-track EP featuring remixes of Fear Fear tracks from some of Sheffield’s most innovative producers - Toddla T, Charla Green, Ross Orton, Diessa and Warp originals, Forgemasters.

The EP was previously only available on CD which came exclusively with purchases of the album via the Bear Tree record shop in Sheffield. This will be the first time the remix tracks have been widely available and today the band have also shared the ‘Money Is Mine’ remix which sees Toddla T set the track to a full on klonking two step rhythm.

Toddla T said of the remix: As the original version stank of Sheffield, I wanted to do something that I would be itching to play in a set back home, particularly at Kabal or if I wasn't in attendance something that I know Winnie or Pipes would draw for which was made for the dance-floors of Sheffield.

Double 99’s speed garage anthem ‘Ripgroove’ celebrates it’s 25th birthday with a reinvented set of mixes to the original.

The seminal UK club weapon, and speed garage blueprint ‘Ripgroove’ by legendary garage outfit Double 99 turns 25 years old. The often imitated, copied and consistently worshiped dancefloor classic sees its story continuing a quarter of a century later.

Originally produced and recorded in a kitchen in London, N7 back in 1997 by Omar Adimora and Tim Liken aka Tim Deluxe. Distributed by Ice Cream Records label boss, Andy Lysandrou from the boot of his Mini-Metro; record shops from the South to North of England were staying open until past midnight waiting for new stock. Pirate radio stations hammered it from the moment the vinyl landed – The Sound Of The Summer of ’97 had arrived.

Mainstream radio stations refused to playlist the record on its first release due to it being “too different”, too urban and too underground, despite its unparalleled popularity throughout the summer. Thanks to A&R man Nick Raphael’s belief in the record, it was eventually playlisted on Radio 1 (the first ever UKG record to be added), with newly added vocals from Top Cat it went on to enter the charts at No. 13, opening the floodgates for a UKG takeover of British radio.

As well as Sherelle featuring the Fixate Remix in her seminal set at LDN Boiler Room, with an insane reaction and worthy re-wind, the track has been supported by a multitude of music heads from DJ EZ to Annie Mac to Four Tet to Pete Tong to Diplo… the list is endless, with it even appearing as the lead track for Kurupt FM’s “People Just Do Nothing: Big In Japan” movie.

Double 99 have re-recorded the UK classic at RAK Studios with a 16-piece string section (The 12 Ensemble & Friends) alongside a newly recorded re-vocal from the legend Top Cat. Complementing their Reimagined versions are remixes from Ewan McVicar and Daffy, ensuring that the cultural relevance and unadulterated dancefloor power of ‘Ripgroove’ will live on for years to come!

Tuff Culture displaying a love of original UKG, back from the Sunday session days of the genre's infancy. 'Day Dream' has masterfully dry drums and hits and a classic vocal sample that packs in the soul. Smart filters and effects build tension before the big drop, gun fingers and pinging bass all explode to life. Irresistible. On the flip, 'Perpetual Motion' is another stripped-back, scuffed-up, low-key but high-impact garage shuffler with plenty of pent-up energy and a wicked Erykah Badu sample.

Two years since his Going For It EP, Livity Sound is pleased to welcome back Sydney’s DJ Plead for a second round of versatile, psychedelic club variations. Since debuting around 2018 Plead has forged a distinctive sound which focuses on inventive use of percussion and elegant melodic hooks that draw lines between global dance music cultures without adhering to any fixed formula.

From the carnival futurism of lead track ‘Come Quick’ to the infectious reggaeton lilt and understated trance synths of ‘El Es’, Plead presents a sound as playful as it is serious, predominantly exploring the 100 bpm tempo range. Shaped out by acutely angled rhythms, shifting time signatures and bold licks, Quick EP further establishes him as a vital, individual talent with the kind of flexible club tracks that bend between scenes and inject vibrant energy into the dance. Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.

Next up on eudemonia is the Frankfurt-based duo ‚not even noticed‘. With only a couple of vinyl releases during the last years the two artists are relatively new to the scene. However their sound is perfectly produced and meets the tooth of time. The ‚No More Waiting‘ EP consists of five outstanding futuristic electro and breaks-influenced tracks each going into their own direction. Watch out for more to come in the near future, these guys are on a roll!

More sought-after bumpin business from the 24hr Experience vaults. This time the spotlight turns to the shuffling sweetness of 1995’s Test Press EP. Four expertly executed UKG classics remastered from the original DAT’s ready to be rewound once again.

Following appearances on London's Threads Radio, Balamii and Lobster Theremin's own Rinse FM show, in addition to contributions to Juke Bounce Werk's Jbdubz Vol. 9 and a recent release on Leeds based Gimme A Break Records, LA based DJ Introspekt prepares to be welcomed into the Breaks N Pieces family under a brand new alias. Pulling inspiration from the UK-laden worlds of UKG, jungle and dubstep, Sage de Lestrogen has conjured up four killer cuts of heavyweight bass-pressure brimming with skippy riddims, chunky low-ends and low-ceiling energy. 'Slippy Bxtch' walks the line between melodic and lairy; a seemingly sun-kissed cut of 2-step quickly evolves into a sludging sequence of large wubs and gun-finger aesthetics. The tempo is raised ever so slightly on 'Femme Fatale', a jungle influence distinctively noticeable above the crisp percussion that highlights this as a certified stepper. 'Tough Technician' makes use of a familiar vocal-sample twisted into a love triangle between warehouse rave, breakbeat and the future-facing sounds heard at Fwd>>, before 'System Test Dub' abandons the dark energy in favour of a bubbling cut of dubbed-out house-garage.

Started back in 1993 by the man himself, the label features releases from the likes of Romanthony, Jocelyn Brown, DJ Duke and many more, also going on to spawn the Big Big Trax sublabel too. For this 12 inch, a spotlight on Jazz-N-Groove, the legendary production team consisting of Marc Pomeroy, Brian Tappert & previously Roy Grant. Showcasing soulful house done properly, this EP takes in four of their sought-after ‘90s remixes of anthemic cuts from Northbound, Body Moods and Strive For Jive. For the house trivia heads out there, the pair also went on to launch Soulfuric Records and also digital download store, Traxsource.

One of the all-time classic UK Garage releases from the minds of two masters, Grant Nelson and Simon Firmin as 24hr Experience, gets a much-deserved official reissue remastered straight from the DAT tapes via Digital Tape Recordings.

Wall-to-wall anthems that capture of everything great about the hey days of UKG. Rough, tough, swung beats, bouncing basslines, dreamy pads and chopped up vocals, at a pace that sets dancefloors alight every time. You’d be hard pressed not to have heard the likes of ‘I Need A Man’ or ‘Together’ absolutely tear up the dance before, reloads and wheels left, right and centre. Timeless business that should be a part of every collection.

Since joining forces as Soul Mass Transit System a couple of years ago, Baby J and D Jason have released a wealth of club-ready 12" singles, many of which explore their love of vintage UK garage. This EP on Vivid is a little more eclectic but no less celebratory or peak-time ready. For proof, check saucer-eyed opener 'Set You Free', where giddy old school piano stabs, stretched-out sub-bass and spinetingling female vocal samples ride a rolling breakbeat, and the revivalist hardcore hedonism of the ludicrously bass-heavy 'Nah Nah Nah'. They doff a cap to their bassline roots on crunchy breakbeat roller 'Phat Booty', before drawing a fine EP toa close with the two-step-goes-Niche heaviness of 'Smoke'.

After some wicked EPs by Yosh, Etch and Tom Jarmey, here is some proper underground UK flavour courtesy of Burnski's Vivid imprint - a new sub label of Constant Sound. The latest one this week is by the enigmatic Tamoshi. On the A side, we have the snarling minimalist roller called 'The System' which is quite reminiscent of early DJ Krust. Over on the flip, hear a convincingly old school junglist stepper, the fittingly titled 'Darkside' that goes all the way back to '95. One for the heads.

Clara! and Pearson Sound make their debut collaboration with 'Mi Cuerpo' (My Body), recorded remotely in Brussels and London in early 2020. Driven by Pearson's sharp snares, spiky FM synths and a rattling sub bassline, Clara's lyrics describe being lost in music yet in control of your own body movements; dancing alone without the gaze of others. At its midpoint the track builds to a frenzy, reaching a crescendo with the repeated chant of 'poco pudor y mucho sudor' (Don't be embarrassed, Get sweaty), and finally closing out with snippets of whispered vocals and gasps. Mysterious UK Garage imprint Time Is Now returns for its second outing, this time equipped with four club weapons from rising talent Interplanetary Criminal.

First up in 2023 from Pseudonym Records is a weighty split EP from Jurango and Glances. Glances starts off the first side of the record, with 'Lentil' showcasing their fast-paced footwork style, while 'Camber' slows things down a bit for a twisted mutation that's perfect for early or late club hours. Jurango takes no prisoners on the next side, with two percussive rollers around the 160bpm mark. 'Mount' weaves through hard-hitting percussion, vocal samples, and a haunting pad that's sure to get the dancefloor moving. And to round off the record, Jurango drops 'Sink' - a dequantized track with bleepy melodies that nod to classic UK Bleep techno for the modern dancefloor.

Another beautiful & booming release from Piezo on his rock solid Ansia imprint, conjuring up 5 tracks of frenetic & kinetic mind/body music that are distinctly his own with a reverent nod to such genres as UKG, grime, techno, gqom & footwork. Evolving beyond the manufactured nostalgia that populates today's current dance milieu, Piezo takes bass science into the realm of the metaphysical.

“jRj” & “Big Room Technow” emanate metric tons of somatic energy for the club crowd, the former building up momentum on a gqom-infused grime pattern, while the latter is like a tin robot whistling an odd melody inside a peak-time 4/4 banger. “Sensory Overdraw” is an outstanding UKG curveball with a distinctive metallic bassline and intricate head swimming programming for the headphone listener. A similar approach is applied to “Cutest Kitty Content”, which teems with bizarre ear-candies, but moves with a different and faster framework. Footwork with outsider insight. Finally you have the digital exclusive “Zing Zang”, which slows things down but still keep the same balance between mind and body requirements.

The genre references aren't blanketing the tracks as much as they are being manifested through pure passion and love: these tunes are all encompassing bin shakers that knock and sway the lucky participants that are awakened enough to be open to the journey. This is a rare release where you can see the forest from the trees and yet both can simultaneously be experienced and enjoyed.

The Plastik People label has been going along nicely for its first few releases, with label head Marc Cotterell stepping up and coming correct last time out. The Uganda Connect, Swordman Kitala, brings two dancefloor killers straight from Kampala's active underground hip hop and dance scene to this limited edition vinyl-only 7" release on Bump 'n Grind Wax! An MC with heavy influences from dancehall and hip hop traditions, Swordman Kitala has been tearing up leftfield dance-focused productions from cross-genre artists like Tom Blip, Soft-Bodied Humans, and DJ Scotch Egg. With memorable performances and releases with the musical-trendsetting Nyege Nyege Festival, Swordman Kitala's infectious flow pairs perfectly with club-ready tracks, crafting a sound that is being felt in all corners of the world!

The A-Side of Bng-006, "Chidongo", hits straight to the gut with militant drums, off-kilter claps, industrial tones, and rapid-fire lyrics. The elements combine for a rough and tough dance track that will have necks breaking, bodies shaking, and sweat-dripping from your brow as your gun fingers pop off in the dance. B-Side brings the magic man from Richmond, VA, Charles Benjamin, into the fold, with this special edit of Swordman Kitala's "Bade". Swordman Kitala's rudeboy lyrics champion him as the "Uganda Connect" while Charles Benjamin adds the omnipresent low-end, sirens, and wick drum pattern which crescendos towards the end of the track into a dance-ready drum groove that DJs will be looping for years to come.

Bowling out of Offenbach with a swing in his step, Dogpatrol returns for round three on Sneaker Social packing another four-strong payload of mutant rave clout. If you caught the previous missives then you should have some idea of where he's coming from, getting freaky with rave signifiers and laying down ear-snagging swerves to juice up the dance good and proper.

On this latest release we dip-dive into the grime-licked garage-tech shuffle of 'Non Pgr' only for the script to get flipped at the mid-section in favour of diced up Think breaks. The pressure doesn't ease once Nasty King Kurl comes on board for a rolling remix strapped to a disgustingly massive kick drum impulse.

'Sassafras' takes a leaner approach to bleepy breakbeat contortions on the B side, holding down the arrangement and letting the track rip when everyone's wound up and hungry. NKK returns again to partner up with our resident Dog for the collab joint 'Creepin', chopping out the RnB samples and whipping up square wave synth flurries shouting out that overlooked substrata of dubstep - the Purple sound. It's a cheeky hint at the deep-level affinity for all rave gear which powers this EP, another sure step on from your favourite canine soundsystem practitioner.

Total Annihilation Beach is the latest collection from Caveman LSD, one of the handful of monikers of Special Guest DJ / uon / sometimes just shy. Their releases under this name have always had the character of sonic transmissions – crushed sine-waves hurtling out of a wormhole, remote pirate radio bandwidths, whale-song picked up on radar, and so on. Here, the signal seems to come from a place whose remoteness is not defined by distance, but adjacency: these are alternate reality bops. What does it sound like? Kind of solarpunk, but dirty; not at all an artifact from a hopeless culture. Percussion at the forefront; warm timbres and tones – never have I heard this producer play with tabla and tambourine loops as they do in “Lost Hours,” the opening track of the EP. The buildup holds tension and dynamics tight, with a vocoder-smoothed moan – sampled from the caveman’s own voice, on the low – alternating between two notes; when the beat decompresses for the first time two and a half minutes in, one hears the amorphous and cavernous pads we know so well from shy. “Bottle Service Angels” picks up with another acoustic drum loop, and a clap entering 18 seconds in swings the rest of the track into your hips – there’s even an alternate percussion interlude sandwiched in the middle. The drums are turned over by a distorted and delayed wave, almost like a cop siren, which finds an answer in the track’s final seconds: we hear them blaring, but distantly (the demo version of this track, from spring 2020, was called “acab Beat”). The B side begins with a textured, heaving slab of ambience: “The Sun Will Sink Into the Ocean.” It is perhaps the sun one sees setting over “Total Annihilation Beach” – a phrase that came to shy while tripping on LSD in San Francisco, which felt to them like a post-apocalyptic haven for the rich. Seems on point. There is a machinic repetition to the track, but also sweeping curtains of sound that move like mist. But what comes at nightfall? Not cops, not raiders nor bottle service angels – nothing, actually. Just a void into which one lobs praise. “H6 Remix” adapts a Mesopotamian hymn to the divine wife of a moon deity, dated to 1400 BCE; the strings of the sampled oud playing it out are rich and trail beautifully with reverb. Caveman LSD’s gesture of remixing such a song reads sincere – the reality we inhabit is likely just as brutal as the one to which these transmissions belong; however, in both, honor exists. Love follows.

Bristol native Wilfy D makes his debut release on the new Vitamin D imprint. Since working behind the counter at Idle Hands record shop at seventeen he has since been behind releases on Idle Hands, Peach Discs, Apron, Dr Banana and a remix on Conch. Vitd001 is 3 tracks of no-nonsense UK Garage with a heavy R&B influence and 90’s flavours. An undeniably playable release that's tried and tested on the dancefloor.

The Craft Music label is back after a one year break with some fresh new cuts by resident Marco Lazovic. It's an EP inspired by the sound of the English club scene in the nineties and noughties, labels like Good Looking Records and artists such as Mike Millrain. Opener 'Losin Control' sure is a compelling mix of electro and breaks that soars on cosmic lines with euphoric vocals in the distance. 'Come To London' has a distinctly garage feel to it with its crisp broken beats and there is more high energy but melody-rich breakbeat action in 'Dark Gravity' while 'Space Jazzy' is s super sweet and deep jungle cruiser.

We start off our vinyl series with a very special release. An original 1997 Speed Garage tune by the legend - Paul Rayner has been reworked 4 times. Originally under his Knights Of Illusion alias, the samples of his ‘Sexuality’ track were dug out of the attic off of an old floppy disk and put into the hands of 4 exciting producers, all heavily inspired by underground 90s dance music.

Soul Mass Transit System deliver their signature Speed Garage sound, topped up with classic M1 organs. Conspiracy Dubz plays homage to the legend Paul Rayner, putting together a bass heavy rework, much in style of the original track itself. Jordan puts a tribal house spin on the track and Square One pushes the track into the realms of Hardcore.

Hailing from Bristol and based in London, Ashley Thomas routinely passes the storied music heritage of both cities through his own singular, prismatic filter. As Otik he produces brilliant and complex hues, forming compositions from weightless neon-tinged trails, richly layered melodic webs and inky, subaqueous bass lines. The prolific artist recently created his own imprint, Solar Body, to accommodate the expanse and volume of his unfettered productions; now with his !K7 Record debut, Otik deepens his sonic explorations for the label he credits as a crucial discovery portal. “crystal Clear” is inspired by a personal epiphany, and it shines through with sparkling clarity. With the unmistakable signifiers of dancehall in its bassline and drum programming, Thomas turns these references outwards and upwards, finding a new expression with glistening drops of cosmic colour, gauzy pads, and soft crescendos of cymbals. Despite coming in hard and fast with a bruising 130bpm bass rhythm “rainbow Rhythm'' evokes a positively disorienting kaleidoscope for Thomas, courtesy of its sugary, euphoric synth sounds. It is a balance of hard and soft, leading heavily with drums throughout, contrasted with the track’s delicate and sweetly warped melody.

Having previously graced the label with Ifsdigi002 and as part of the Ifsdigiv001 record which landed earlier this year, Kodama marks his return to Infernal Sounds with a 4 track solo EP on their main catalogue. As to be expected from the producer he showcases his musical and melodic prowess throughout, touching on darker tones whilst displaying the lighter, nibble notes we've all come to expect to hear from him.

'Gekko' opens up the EP, beautifully constructing a kaleidoscope of emotion and spanning textures, whilst 'Fijit' hits a little differently, layering daunting droplets of reverb, revealing a sinister underbelly to the overall vibe.

The B-side opener, 'Sneakers' leads with drawing melodies, before breaking into a bass-infused medley. 'Wiretap' finishes the EP with accurate precision, again providing an example of Kodama's use of melodic structures, whilst drawing you down a spectrum of sound and feeling.

It's one of those EP's which isn't particularly packed with out-right bangers for the dancefloor, but more of a display of the newer 140 sound, and a selection of tunes which cohesively gel into a neat little package. For the DJ's who love to build, these are dying to be part of your collection and are perfect to get the crowd on the correct vibe.

Nice Girl is back with 4 Tracks sitting somewhere between chillout, club & experimental. Fans will already know about her unique approach to sound, always surprising & fresh very hard to categorize. Although the 4 tracks can very much be viewed as an extension of her debut album „Ipsum“, the overall tone of the EP is somewhat brighter with more light, at times almost euphoric! Glad to be sharing these, hope you enjoy!

We Out Here is the highly anticipated debut EP from Dublin’s Plus One on First Second Label. The prolific musical polymath lays down 4 sub-wrenching club tracks indebted to hardcore futurism with a canny pop sensibility.

Plus One is an alias of cultishly adored producer Matt Finnegan, a veteran beatsmith behind multiple productions for Irish rapper Kojaque, amongst other impressive credits on an expansive CV. He concurrently eyed up the dancefloor, stocking an impressive hard drive of unreleased club tracks that were subsequently rinsed heavily by the likes of Ben UFO, re:ni and EMA to name but a few.

This is his solo debut proper, and comes impressively fully formed from the off. We Out Here starts the engines with a deliciously sub-y stepper of epic big room potential, with a fittingly large bassline to boot. Hood Up Head Down is suspended in an aqueous ambient-drowned RnB bath before unfurling into lush 2-step in romantic fashion. Kiki bobs assuredly along a breaks-y techno pulse amongst a twinkling twilight melody and an emotive reese-bass stunner of a line. Me concludes the EP on a necessary 160 tip, flexing a modern jungle rinse out with sharp amens and soaring melodic subs to round off this statement of intent. - Nevan Jio

After a 2 year hiatus, Madam X's Kaizen imprint comes back full force, with an upgraded aesthetic and brand new wave of leftfield, off-kilter club music. Kzn009 sees one of Manchester's most exciting up & coming producers, Cartridge, mark his debut with a fierce 2 tracker, loaded with soundsystem pressure and gully 130 artillery in the Banada EP. Melodic Grime, moody Dubstep, and sub-heavy textures sprinkle this wobby release, designed for dark rooms, splintered basements and heavy soundsystems. With an impressive back catalogue on Deep Dark & Dangerous, Albion Collective & one half of Regents alongside Manchester kingpin Strategy (Broke'n'£nglish), Cartridge is no stranger to the UK's burgeoning bass music scene.

On the A side, we have Banada, a melodic eastern-flavoured instrumental, with elements of Grime and Dubstep carrying the tune to its arpeggiated crescendo.

A singing voice and raspy melody build the tension before a heavily distorted switch up catches you off guard, leading you further down a Dubstep rabbit hole, and into a world of shady and sinister drops, sitting perfectly alongside the label's strictly hoods-up, heads-down tip.

Teaming up with Kaizen heavyweight and local scene hero Biome on the B-Side, Ricky Rosé has proved a firm favourite for those peak-time, no-holds-barred, bass-in-your-face, power hour moments. Relentless in its metallic bassline and thumping 808 drums, this explosive club tool comes with a solid side-serving of gunfingers and screwfaces.
