Geheimnis Records' 25th release is dedicated to a long anticipated vinyl issue of a band that has been greatly discussed and has achieved a "cult-status" among the fans of the dark alternative scene in Greece, as well as all over the world. The myth of Alive She Died was revitalized once more when the fashion brand Gucci favoured the band's cover version on Joy Division's "She's Lost Control", as the music theme for its "Cruise 2016" campaign. Meanwhile, the music site "sputnikmusic.com" included the above cover version amongst the best covers ever made on a Joy Division song, awarding it with the seventh place. Another important distinction came when "discogs.com" (the biggest site in the world specializing in trading records), included the band's original 1985 tape release titled "Viva Voce" into the list of the 100 releases that need to be reissued.Alive She Died started their music journey in the year 1983. The initial band members were: Daphne Gerogianni - voice, Xenophon Xenios - keyboards/drum programming, George Ginis - keyboards/sounds, Tina Goudis - bass. The sound of their music was characterized as dark, attributed to their use of synthesizers, bass and drum-machines and the deep melancholic feeling coming from Daphne's performance. Their first-ever live performance took place at "Pegasus" club in Athens, on February 21st, 1985 and it was followed by four more live gigs. On March 1985, the band self-released 300 copies of "Viva Voce", their cassette tape release which was to become famous. During the autumn of 1986, the initial line-up seized to exist. The band's last live performance - with the addition of new members - took place in "Madd" club in Athens, in March 1987.March 2017: Geheimnis Records is releasing 700 hand-numbered copies of the long-awaited vinyl issue, half of them on black and half on clear transparent vinyl. The release includes all the songs featured on "Viva Voce", plus unreleased material from the band's active era (1984 - 1986). The remastering of the tracks - which originated from original cassette tapes - was done by Stelios Efentakis at studio "Ritual", during the summer of 2016. The release includes an insert with lyrics, photos and credits of the additional musicians, as well as detailed information on the songs and the instruments used during the original recordings.

Synthetic Soundscapes Of Modern Urban Morality / Chapter 2 Colored Vinyl Edition

Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Two years after the successful “Synthetic Soundscapes of Modern Urban Morality” compilation, Geheimnis Records is happy to announce its follow-up, by releasing “Synthetic Soundscapes of Modern Urban Morality / Chapter 2”. The spirit remains the same. New bands, artists, projects that are for the most part, in the early stages of their dreams. Some of them have already released their music on vinyl, but for the majority, this is their first time seeing their music imprinted on an official music format, such as a 12’’ vinyl LP. Since Geheimnis Records is based in Greece, 5 of the bands/artists come from this country, while 4 bands come from Europe. In particular: “Misfortunes” come from Thessaloniki, Greece and is a one man-project. Ioakim Vasiliadis is the person behind the synths. He started back in 2014 and his affection for the 80’s analogue revival can be clearly heard through his compositions. This is his very first time on vinyl with two songs “??? ?? ?? ???? ????" (“I wonder if I should give up”) and “In The Streets Of Our City”. “Dislocation Genders” is a duo project which also comes from Thessaloniki, Greece. Nick K. Maldoror is familiar to analogue synth enthusiasts all over Europe, since he was the one half of the late great “Human Puppets”. He has been collaborating with George D. since 2012 and this is the first time a song of theirs is released to the public. “Doric” of course is already familiar (Stathis Leontiadis – the other band member of “Human Puppets”) having already released the majority of his work on vinyl. The last couple of years he has had a closer collaboration with the fashion-designer-icon-singer Valisia Odell (Phoenix Catscratch, Strawberry Pills, Father Breath) who has given a more operatic and “cursed” aspect to his analogue-synth based music. The song included here, is very typical and reflects their good chemistry. “Neon Lies” is the one-man project of Goran Lautar who hails from Zagreb, Croatia. He started his solo project in 2015 and released a tape-album in October 2016. Haunted, whining vocals blended with lo-fi minimal synth sounds. The 2 songs that are included in this compilation are his first releases on vinyl. “Whispering Sons” are from Brussels, Belgium and last year released one of the most promising albums of the post punk alternative genre, “Endless Party”. Their guitar-based music incorporates dark and atmospheric elements mixed with anguished and nervous vocals that give an exceptional tone of well-balanced post punk. The song included on this compilation, first appeared on their debut LP. “Tisiphone” come from Lyon, France. The 3-member band is also a guitar-based act, dark and gloomy with a steady bass line, heavy rhythm section and a distinctive guitar. Last year they released their self-titled debut cd and their contribution here is from that album. “Mitra Mitra” is the brain-child of Mahk Rumbae and Violet Candide. They are based in Vienna, Austria and have been together since 2014. Mahk is a member of the “Oppenheimer MKII” project and “Konstruktivists”, as well as the “Codex Empire” solo techno project. Violet Candide originally hails from New Zealand. The version of their minimal/electro song “Opportunity” is available only on this compilation. “RATS” is a duo project, from Thessaloniki, Greece. Elias Papadopoulos has been collaborating with Iro since 2015 and they are heavily influenced by witchhouse, dark wave and industrial sounds. Last year they released a cd-album which received many good reviews from various webzines and music portals. Last but not least, “Paralogik” are the brain-child of Eugene B. (already familiar with his project included in our “No Radar” compilation, “Etherial Movement”) already conceived in 2014. With the help of Nick L. they have created a music hybrid, heavily influenced by dark-electro with more harsh and aggressive elements. Their work is released here for the first time. The compilation will be released in July 25th, 2017, in 300 hand-numbered copies, half of them on black and half on transparent purple, including an insert with lyrics, photos and details. Vinyl mastering by Chris “Snake” Manolitsis.

With its 15th release, Geheimnis Rec. changes its course and moves towards the misty alleys of London’s Post Punk/New Wave/ New Romantic era. Born on a grey autumn afternoon in 1979, “Kan Kan” was a pure British new wave band, which released only two EPs (“Changing Trains” in 1981 and “The Informer” in 1982), one 7’’ single (“Film Noir” in 1980 and also contributed the song, “Phone Call” to the legendary compilation “East Of Croydon” (1981). Their frontman, the quite theatrical, Patrick Dinnen along with Graham McGill, Michael Harding, Tom Casey and Flavia Malim (with the occasional addition of other session musicians) represented the change of spirit that blew over punk rock at the end of the 70’s, which was transformed little by little into something more melodic, romantic and artistic...This was the time of New Romantics, post punk, secret gigs in London, dark glamour – all in the shadow of the right-wing reign of Margaret Thatcher. There were “secret events” in clubs in London, where people took over a venue and transformed it for one night. One such venue was The Scala Cinema in London – it was a stylish Art Deco cinema where all-night events were staged. That was Kan Kan's first ever gig. Later on after many live concerts, they were asked to play support for such bands as Killing Joke, A Flock of Seagulls, Mary Wilson, The Thompson Twins and the Boomtown Rats. The “big bang” of the post punk/new wave era !From the beginning, Kan Kan was always theatrical – the songs and images were intense, heightened, like “films for the mind”, stories for the audience’s imagination - songs about outsiders, and people broken and restored by love, meetings in stations, border crossings - footsteps, statues, clowns, a world of suspicion where nothing is certain apart from uncertainty...John Peel played the EP “Changing Trains” consistently and featured them on a session at the BBC ... But suddenly during 1983, the band split up, leaving us “as their legacy” two EPs and one 7’’. They never succeed in releasing a full length LP.In May 16th, 2014, after 2 years of collecting lost material, Geheimnis Records presents a complete anthology of all tracks – both released and unreleased – on a double gatefold highly collectable compilation album, in 332 hand-numbered copies, half of them on white and half on black vinyl, remastered and restored by Chris Manolitsis on February and March 2014.
