Release:2017 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Less Art is the alliance of brothers Riley and Ed Breckenridge of Thrice, Ian Miller and Jon Howell of Kowloon Walled City, and Mike Minnick of Curl Up and Die. On Strangled Light, these five veterans bash out their own new version of post-hardcore – "post-hardcore by post-youths" is how they cheekily describe themselves, but this music is dead serious.

From Brooklyn, New York, Couch Slut shook the underground in 2014 with the release of its debut, My Life as a Woman. Stereogum called that album "engagingly smart and terrifyingly blunt" and pegged the sound as "a little bit Oxbow and a little bit Today Is the Day during the AmRep years.

Vampillia and The Body are two creative forces that are no strangers to the worlds of experimental and abrasive music. Although both have touched upon various types of metal styles in their previous works, also has each entity shown an obvious penchant for compositions that lean heavily into the worlds of electronics and experimental music. On this LP, xoroAHbin, we sit between each of those realms, experiencing them in equal parts.

The influences of Cavernlight are numerous and run deeply into different genres, but ultimately all of them have one thing in common... pain and suffering prevail. Whether they be doom, black metal, noise, dark post-rock or even inspiration from beloved singer-songwriters that have since been put to rest and whose sadness lives on eternally, each source of inspiration deals with a fundamental hurt. On this debut full length Cavernlight have finally found a comfortable, mature balance between their influences, inspiration, and intended narrative. Using these elements they have crafted an album of miserable doom laced with harsh tones and heart-piercing melodies.

Many of you are already familiar with the caustic sludge / doom crafted by Fórn, and the new song they contribute to this split will clearly prove that their debut album, The Departure of Consciousness, was just the beginning. This serves as an exciting glimpse into the future work from Fórn. Yautja are a new addition to the Gilead Media family. Yautja have made a huge mark on the heavy music world for their seamless, brilliant blend of intricate metal, grind, and riff-heavy noise-rock. It’s truly something to behold.

The new EP shows the band expanding their skills by forcing themselves to write two new songs suitable for a 7-inch release, and as any avid listener knows, this stands in stark contrast to their usual style of long, winding movements. Each of the pieces contained on this EP (Anhedonia, and Hunger) are both under five minutes in length, but contain all the relentless fury expected of False.

Spoor Of Vipers
LP | 2017 | US | Original (Gilead Media)
22,79 €* 23,99 € -5%
Release:2017 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Ustalost is the solo work of Will Skarstad (guitarist of Brooklyn based black metal band Yellow Eyes). The Spoor Of Vipers is a shimmering album of towering lo-fi black metal, not terribly far from the stylistic realm where Yellow Eyes dwells, although Ustalost is distinctly its own creature. This debut LP is a grand document of splendor and magnificence, as songs transition from dense tremolo parts into gorgeous fanfares and complex, atmospheric riffage. But the underlying power of this music is that through both cacophonous and synth drenched passages the songs manage to emit a profoundly sad tone that also feels fundamentally incurable.

Formed in 2006, Buildings is a three piece from Minneapolis. Their music is loud, aggressive, and dynamic. Now the band will release its highly anticipated 3rd LP You Are Not One Of Us recorded in world famous Pachyderm Studios. These tracks show Buildings maturing into a band that can not only produce gut wrenching noise, but at the same time blur the lines that divide many rock sub-genres – punk, noise rock, post hardcore – and end up with a sound that is dynamic, raw, and absolutely massive.

Release:2017 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Krallice continue the saga of their artistic growth by crafting elaborately composed works that are increasingly more impossible to define by typical genre terms. Not quite death metal, although obviously borrowing a great deal from the genre. Further from black metal than they’ve ever been without losing continuity with their prior compositions. Technical without alienating the listener or scattering the musical narrative. Heavy without giving way to basic metal gimmicks. Blistering in speed while never losing their precision or power.

A Steady Descent into the Soil is the debut LP from St. Catharines, Ontario's Vile Creature. Crafted during winter 2014 and recorded in an abandoned school house in rural Canada, the record acts as a cull of emotions derived from the inherent violence and hatred experienced growing up queer around the millennium, a time much less homo-positive than today's landscape. Three songs of fuzzed-out atmospheric doom are sprawled over nearly 40 minutes, creating a record described as "wonderfully unique" and "undeniably original" by Noisey & Metal Injection, respectively.
