Pointe Du Lac
LP | 2017 | EU | Original (Gonzai)
20,99 €*
Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Having successfully reissued french cult prog LP "Pole'' by Besombes and Rizet, GonzaïRecords now pursues its exploration of kosmische and repetitive music with the vinylrelease of Pointe Du Lac, initially brought out digitally in October, 2014. Pointe DuLac is a french trip to Kosmische Land oscillating between the German autobahn ofKraftwerk and one of the most romantic Parisian subway stations, which gave its nameto the projet lead by Julien Lheuillier. "When they opened this station approximatelythree years ago says Julien, I said to myself that the name of the station opened animagination, big deserted spaces. I wanted the music to be the reflect (dreamlike andcontrasted) of that vision. We can hear imaginary lakes and subways there, old andbrand new synthesizers. That 8 tracks LP represents a kind of hallucinated vision of aroute towards the Point of the Lake station, but a station which doesn't exist, orwhich would be somewhere in the cosmos ». Following the lead of the contemporaryfrench avant-garde (Chassol, Bajram Bili, Jonathan Fitoussi) and sometimes soundinglike an echo to Air's Virgin Suicides'', Pointe du Lac is one of the most beautifulinstrumental records recently heard. Influences: Neu !, Harmonia, Cluster, Arvo Pärt,Terry Riley, Kraftwerk « The inspiration behind the eight album pièces by Pointe DuLac might have been inspired by Krautrock and other German electronic music, but ithas definitely killed the Buddha and succeeded in express feelings with its own musicallanguage. » (Harald Grosskopf from Wallenstein, Ash Ra Temple, Klaus Schulze)
Bernhard Grancher - Coctail Monotone

Coctail Monotone
LP | 2017 | EU | Original (Gonzai)
20,99 €*
Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Three years after his first LP "Monsieur Délicieux" (2013), Bernard Grancher comesback with a new bombshell : "Cocktail Monotone", produced by Yan Hart-Lemonnier(from neirdo French label Ego Twister). Is it a commercial suicide or an album withoutany concession ? You might guess. So far, that's the most radical LP ever signed onGonzaï Records. With a gun instead of a mic, Bernard Grancher has enough madnessto contaminate all the french pop. Probably the nuclear single Cocktail Monotonewon't be heard on radio station but it has the virtue to be an alternative solution forthose who love psychiatric tunes. Is it DAF singing by Stupeflip or Plastic Bertrandsoaked in acid? All along "Cocktail Monotone", we are attending the psychotherapy ofa crazy musician who exchanges his straitjacket for chemical drum machine. « Thisrecord is an homage to my childhood. When we had 3 and 4 year old, my brother andI were kept by a nanny whose making one of her adopted child's life miserable. Shewas beaten, she was dragged on piss and shit and she shouted vociferously which wasabsolutely abominable. This record is quite about that: animals, confinement and themisery of this girl."Far from just being a 8-bits freudian catharsis, "Cocktail Monotone"is also an invitation to enter the crazy brain of a schizophrenic musician. From arobotic talk-over of a dada-feminist (La Femme) to some long instrumental tracks tobreath (Abécédaire) and a hymn to all children of divorced parents (La famille idéale),this second LP is obviously the one of immaturity. "The album's title? It came from aword game made by my child when he was 3, while he was barely able to speak; Ithought it was amazing, so I keep it." Unlike you,Bernard Grancher won't become anadult. And, this record should blow up your mind.
George Grünblatt - K-Priss

K-Priss
LP | 2017 | EU | Original (Gonzai)
20,99 €*
Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Two years after the reissue of "Pole" from Besombes & Rizet, Gonzaï Records goeson with réhabilitation of french weird-but-great bands. Next step is "K-Priss" byGeorge Grünblatt, co-founder of the cult band Heldon, author of a solo LP inspired byPhilip K. Dick, recorded in 1977 then published in 1980. After that, George Grünblattbecame a famous psychiatrist for the next 40 years, till Gonzaï knocked to the door. For fans of Cluster & Eno, Bernard Szajner, Jean-Michel Jarre, Zombie Zombie andother instrumental science fiction. Recorded on 1977 at Ramses Records studios, thefirst and very last album from George Grüblatt sounds like an instrumental disco-progweirdness of 38 minutes, where you can find the best rhythm section of Paris at thattime (bassist Didier Batard from Space Art, Christophe and Heldon, Michel Ettorifrom Weidorje and Jean-Philippe Goude), both reunited around the two foundingmembers of Heldon, Richard Pinhas and George Grünblatt. Since he began music,Grünblatt tried to conciliate his two loves, music and psychiatry, alternating lessonswith Gilles Deleuze, Michel Foucault and Jean François Lyotard and ramshacklerecording sessions, with Heldon, where he played synths and guitars from thebeginning till 'Its Always Rock'n'Roll' (1975). By that time, he decided to record whatstill remains his only solo album, "K-Priss", from the name of a alien hallucinatory druginvented par Philip K. Dick in The Three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch (1955). Fiveinstrumental tracks, oscillating between futurist free jazz and novo-rock. QuotingMutant Sounds about "K-Priss"', « It' a kind of Grail. But it's not just a big experimentalFrench record, it's also a big piece of 'French cheese', a incredible record in manyways ». Grünblatt signs with "K-Priss" one of those indescribable pieces that make allthe charm of the marginal France of the seventies. After the recording, the freak willbe invited into the German forest for a week to play with Klaus Schulze (TangerineDream, Ash Ra Tempel) but he will finally decide to devote himself entirely to hisprofession of psychiatrist and psychoanalyst until... Gonzaï, 40 years later, did find himto reissue this album oh so disturbed. « Grünblatt approaches the boundaries of tasteand urinates all over them - but again, not in a punk way. The backing track chuntersalong, the guitars are vertiginous, ostentatious, fromage-y, the piano tinkles around thefringes like an ornate freeze » (The Quietus review, 2017)

Tant De Temps

24,99 €*
Release:2016 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Rock / Indie
Ten years after its first release (Warner, 2006, CD), the final studio album from cultfrench artist Jacno comes back with a double LP collector edition. Most known as thecomposer of cult-synth track Rectangle (1980), Jacno had a long, eventful life : heformed the first french punk band with Elli & Jacno, then produced the 80's frenchavant-garde (Lio, Etienne Daho, Mathematiques Modernes) and finally started his ownsolo carreer like a perfect crossover between David Bowie (the look), Bryan Ferry(the style) and Serge Gainsbourg (the glamorous way of smoking), both in equalmeasure. Initially released in Paris in 2006,"Tant de Temps" is the seventh and laststudio album from Jacno, sadly dead three years later. Back from the grave with thisdouble LP collection version, "Tant de temps" can be heard as glam covered by afrench vampire loving cigarettes, drinks and debauchery (french habits, let's say). Withhis single manifesto Le Sport (« sport is shit »), he quotes Winston Churchill (« mysecret to be healthy ? No sport, ever ») and as The Quietus is saying about thatalbum, « we live in an imperfect world, because in a perfect one, this song would beno.1 for a decade in all of the world's countries ». With friends aside (Etienne Daho,Stereo Total or Thomas Dutronc, son of Jacques) as guests, "Tant de Temps" soundslike the final heritage of dandiest frenchman of the past twenty years. Now, that's foryour pleasure.
