Commodo chalks up another release for DEEP MEDi and this one delivers vocals from JME.

Sputnik One launches his new label N-Face with Supa Natural/Grafters - a limited stamped white label featuring 2 of his most direct club cuts yet, including an exciting collaboration with Belfast-based rapper Emby.

N-Face is a new label curated by Dublin-based Sputnik One, bringing together artists from different corners of the genre spectrum for one-off releases and unexpected collaborations. It will focus on pairing the label’s distinct sonics with equally specific visual direction, working with a new designer for each subsequent 12".

For the label’s inaugural release, the label boss delivers a dancefloor-certified two tracker that has been doing the rounds in clubs, festivals and online mixes this year thanks to the likes of Ben UFO, CCL, DJ Voices, Madam X et all. Supa Natural is up first, a surprising turn to grime via Sputnik’s inimitable psychedelic tech style. It features the show stopping talents of Belfast MC Emby on vocals, a devastating wordsmith who’s nimble lines square up to Sputnik’s bass line with cold poise. Grafters is on the flip, a big tune that balances a swung percussive core with a theremin-like rave siren for pure club devastation.

From Night Slugs’ Bok Bok comes the new label AP Life with their first physical release by seasoned London grime producer Kid D. “Timing” 12” features 4 essential cuts of cutting-edge beats fusing drill, R&G and grime. From the squarewave bass pressure of Bar 4 Bar to the high emotion of The Eyes, Kid D applies his signature melodic touch to combine the sweet with the sour with devastating results. Released Digital on 29th January via XL Recordings, ‘saturday Specials’ is Clipz’s first album length project and is a drum & bass masterpiece, split across three 12” vinyl editions. The album features a host of the original album’s vocalists and collaborators (including Berwyn, Ghostface Killah, Aitch, Sampha, Flohio and A.K. Paul) weaving in and out of Clipz's trademark future-facing productions.

Silk Road Assassins, a trio consisting of Tom E Vercetti, Chemist and Lovedr0id, return to Planet Mu with their debut full-length 'State Of Ruin' two years after their first EP 'Reflection Spaces'. The trio recorded over two years, working together to start with, then across different studios and via the internet when their lives became more separated. They also finessed the album at Abbey Road studios, making use of some short time to add in extra layers. The three producers day jobs are in production music, music designed and created specifically for film and games, and this album uses these skills to explore the musical forms that they love. The album explores how trap and grime's minimalist form can be built and curved into musical architecture: elegant, opaque and layered, turning the sound into lush, melodic world-building. The work gone into the album is revealed on repeated listens, every sound on this record feels built to sit within it's delicate ecosystem. The fundamentals of the music are given their own sense of purpose: hand claps spray, bells tumble, guitars splinter and lush melodies waft over and fill the track's spaces like light, glinting across snapping, crisp rhythms and deep bass tones. The album also features two Planet Mu alumini, Kuedo who features on 'Split Matter' brings some of his bitter-sweet shimmering melodies and on 'Shadow Realm' Russian producers WWWINGS give the music a violent metallic edge, providing the record with an epic and unexpected twist towards the end. Silk Road Assassins music is built to last, and a pleasure to indulge in.

Hi Tek Sounds is the new label from East Man (AKA Basic Rhythm) set up after his debut album for Planet Mu ‘Red, White & Zero’.

We are pleased to have a debut release on Nomine Sound from E3 Breaks. This outfit consists of grime maverick 'As If Kid' and the one and only godfather of Grime 'DJ Slimzee'. This guise that these 2 have opted to go with seems to have given them the urge to explore the deeper and darker side of the 140 sound. Get your bass bins ready!

The second release from MIC comes from Ladies As Pimps - LAPS for short - is an anarchic Glasgow duo formed by Lady Two Collars of Golden Teacher and Sue Zuki from Organs Of Love.
Their duets take centre stage on Who Me?: the vocal performances range from the stretched, soulful projections of Ode To Daughter to the lawless, clipped, sweet & sour, spat-not- spoken word of Edges.
Spirited percussion scatters in all directions and bass is smothered in tape delay, as the four tracks beat through Dub, RnB, House, and way beyond, circling around acts like Madame X, The Bug, Stuart Argabright, Francois K, mashing absurdity with dread. Recorded at Green Door studios in Glasgow (where the two met) and layered with the analogue production techniques learned on the first youth unemployment programme there, the energy and charisma of these recordings promise a pretty unique live show when they support Princess Nokia later this year. Supported by Ben UFO, DJ Moxie, Pariah, Optimo, NTS, Vinyl!

Walton drops his third instalment on Tectonic in fine style, calling upon Japanese influences to create a truly unique sonic across both tracks in the release. Asian instrumentation meets directly head to head with the cutting edge sounds of a UK grime-techno axis to great effect.

"Teklife presents Afterlife, the first release on the new Teklife Records label. The album is a celebration of the life and music of the late, great DJ Rashad and features 15 previously unreleased tracks, each a collaboration between DJ Rashad and friends from the Teklife crew and beyond. A limited edition double vinyl will accompany the digital release.

Afterlife is testament to an incredible breadth of influences and love of music with soul, hip-hop, house, techno and many more all brought together at 160bpm. Rashad's presence is felt throughout in the boundless energy and creativity which run through the album, whilst each collaborator brings their personal touch to the compositions.

With such a prolific body of work as both a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians, it would be impossible to present a definitive collection of DJ Rashad's music and many many classics will remain unreleased for ever.

Afterlife is our tribute to our friend and our inspiration. Rest In Peace DJ Rashad.

'Nook Shot' is heads-down / gunfingers in the air grime at it's most effective, testing the original palette – detuned squarewave Triton Bass and sino-esque chimes - over a guttural bassline along with drum rolls that come like a shotgun to the head...
Over the last year or so 'Nook Shot' has been put to the test and passed with ease, with exclusive dubplate deployment from Boofy, Kahn, Neek, Slimzee, Commodo, Spooky, and more at various sessions, putting this one high in the ranks of 'dubplate-anthem' status.

On remix duties, the big, bad Commodo (Hotline / Deep Medi) flips it all on it's head, turning the temparature to below 0C, letting isolated elements of the original work without interruption. The result is a highly-unique cut of the original, ready to twist some minds all whilst serving the purpose of soundsystem obliteration to crushing effect.
