Release:1977 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Organic Grooves
For the first time reissued – with the great contribution of Miguel de Deus’s family in São Paulo, that supplied the amazing collection of photos for the 4 pages inner, inside the LP.This limited edition is a highly collectable for fans of Brazilian soul, groove and psychedelia. It’s our contribution to pay respect to one of the most important Brazilian musicians of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Main brain of bands like OS BRAZÕES and ASSIM ASSADO, he left us an amazing legacy for new generations. This is a small, but more than deserved homage to him, finally.Miguel de Deus was the protagonist of this amazing Afro-Funk movement, together with a group of “heavy” musicians, as they were called in those days of consolidation of a strong Black Power scene, mainly composed of black youth from the outskirts of the suburbs of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, where the movementtook the name of Black Rio. Its raw Rock-Funk-Psychedelic-Tropicalia.
Karovas Milkshakes - In The Shade Of The Purple Sun
Free-Son - Banguele
LP | 1971 | EU | Reissue (Groovie)
19,99 €*
Release:1971 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Organic Grooves
A great vinyl-reissue of the 1971 LP by a Brazilian 8-piece, playing an exciting mixture of psychedelic rock, funk, jazz, Latin and African rhythms. The 12 tracks are almost entirely instrumental, with plenty of far-out wah-wah guitars, cool organ sounds and lively percussion. The album's title, 'Banguele', refers to a rhythm and dance from African slave culture.

Release:1974 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Organic Grooves
The sole LP by Brazilian quartet Assim Assado, originally released in 1974 by the CID-label, gets reissued on vinyl. Both the artwork and the contents make clear that the band was massively influenced by the psychedelic/progressive art-rock of the popular act Secos & Molhados. Even the androgynous element is present! Assim Assado was led by Miguel de Deus, formerly of Os Brazoes. This wonderful album is recommended to fans of Brazil's late '60s/early '70s rock scene in general, and of Secos & Molhados in particular.

At the end of the '80s, while tour managing The Fuzztones, Gary Wilde would sing encores on several stages across Europe to enthusiastic receptions, hence the idea to record with Mr. Wilde taking over the lead vocals and two of those tracks are on this EP. 'Blood From A Stone' and 'Skeleton Farm' with the former backing line up of The Fuzztones. These recording lay to rest for two decades until now. IN 2014 Mr. Wilde returned to the studio to record two songs that are also on this EP. 'Keep On Walking' was originally recorded in 1966 by The Penthouse V and 'Come On In' was the flip of the Music Machine's first single 'Talk Talk'. A neat piece of garage-revival history!
V.A. - Brazilian Nuggets Volume 3
Brazilian Nuggets Volume 3
LP | 2014 | EU | Original (Groovie)
15,99 €*
Release:2014 / EU – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
This is the third volume of the successful BRAZILIAN NUGGETS series put out by Groovie Records. As usual, it gathers oddities, surf, beat, fuzz and weirdo stuff that only crazy cats like Edgar Raposo and Lus Futre, the dynamic duo behind that label, are able to track down. As you might realize, all the tracks featured on this Volume 3 were taken from very hard to find singles, EPs and LPs that were certainly forgotten back than collecting dust in record store bins. Besides the well known bands The Brazilian Bitles and The Beatniks, whose labels, Polydor and Mocambo, were also well established names in the recording industry at the time, most of volume 3 brings to the fore obscure artists and bands whose recordings come from equally obscure labels such as Tema, Leao Disc, Signoma, Orange (a parody to the Beatles own Apple label), Astor, Hollywood Discos, RCS and Disco Som. These labels were usually too small to obtain national distribution deals for their records, so many releases were regional, pressed in small quantities and became instant rarities. If it wasn't for the record collectors themselves and the Groovie Records' keen eye these rarities, released during the second half of the sixties in Brazil and known only to a handful of collectors, would have been lost forever. Texts, rare photos and record covers for your delight too...
