This one has been on our want list for quite a while now and we are more than happy to finally announce the re-release of Vibetree's debut "As I Come Back". Originally released independently on Illynoise in 1995, the album is a true underground gem from front to back fully produced by Base Jase and available in more formats than CD only for the very first time.

Widely known for the classic cut "Love Comes And Goes", Ed O.G & Da Bulldogs' sophomore album "Roxbury 02119" from 1993 has way more to offer and is another nugget from the golden era that shouldn't be missed in a 90's collection. The production was mostly handled by Diamond D of D.I.T.C. and Joe Mansfield and the re-release includes a few bonus tracks from the albums' accompanying 12" releases including a remix by RZA.

In March 2020, right as the whole world was entering into a transitional phase, Evidence released a single titled "Unlearning". The Last Emperor is a Philly born MC who first burst upon the scene back in 1996 with the epic Bums/Monumental/Secret Wars Part 1 12". After studying political science at Lincoln, the Philly native originally saw himself working for the United Nations. That is until Dr. Dre, who got Emp’s tape from a college buddy, signed him to his Aftermath label. Even though his debut never came to fruition, The Last Emperor made the decision to further pursue a rap career. The Last Emperor made the decision then to permanently move to New York where he began performing at open mic nights and started getting a lot of attention from labels. He then proceeded to sign with Rawkus, where he released a single but Rawkus folded 6 months after he signed so his debut album was postponed once again. After that The Last Emperor decided to take matters into his own hands and launched Red Planet Music. In collaboration with Raptivism he then released "Music, Magic, and Myth" in 2003 and later on the same year "Palace of the Pretender" in the UK which pretty much had a similar tracklist. Mid 90s cult classic "Gothic Architecture” by Chicago natives Rubberoom. Originally released on cassette tape in 1995 by Elastic Recordings, the album saw a limited vinyl release in 2019. Now Dust & Dope Recordings has answered the demand for a CD pressing and worked closely with the Rubberoom crew to be able to include two earlier recordings "Peepin’ Tom" & "Welcome" from the group’s 1994 demo tape "An Introduction To The Savage Six", as well as the "Body Snatch'n (Echoes Remix)” which was only ever available on the 12” single. Also included as a bonus are the instrumental versions of "High Noon', "Body Snatch'n On The Isle" & "Buckwild". All recordings have been sourced from their original master DATs and remastered by Jee Van Cleef.

After their recent collaboration on volumes 2 & 3 of Real Bad Man's "On High Alert" series, Detroit's rapper and LA's producer are joining forces on their first full-length together, "Real Bad Boldy". R-Juna is a producer, DJ, and MC influenced by gritty East Coast 90’s hip hop. In his 10 years in the music scene he has produced several albums spanning various genres, toured the United States, and shared stages with many of his musical influences. His most recent project, "Intelligent Design", marks his return to hip hop after a brief hiatus and showcases his grimey boombap beats coupled with thought-provoking rhymes. The album also features New York underground MCs Chuck Chan and Zagnif Nori, as well as A7mc from Detroit.

BIG Turks is Rome Streets, Jamal Gasol, Lord Juco, Ro Data, Jordan Commandeur, and Jonny Botsch. Speaking on the meaning of the album’s title and inspiration, Sa-Roc shares, "The Sharecropper’s Daughter speaks to my father’s actual beginnings on a Virginia tobacco farm where his family sharecropped. The title is meant to signify that both my father’s and my upbringing, though so different, are linked by a shared history that informs the way I move through the world. Although his formative years were spent in the Jim Crow era of the south, where he suffered through poverty and racial oppression, and mine were shaped in the heart of DC, amidst the war on drugs and the effects of its fallout, the album finds points of connection in two very different yet tragically familiar stories of Blackness in America. It’s a sonic reflection of the things we inherit. About the emotional weight that we unknowingly bestow upon the next generation; the genetic transfer of both trauma and triumph that we, both donors and beneficiaries, are tasked with reshaping into a future of our own."

The Sharecropper’s Daughter album is entirely produced by a veteran renaissance man from the Atlanta Hip Hop scene, Sol Messiah, with the exception of "Deliverance" produced by Evidence and co-produced by Al B Smoov. Buffalo, NY-based emcee Elcamino of the underground hip-hop collective Griselda, has released a flurry of EPs and full-lengths of the classic mafioso style of rap from the 90s since hitting the scene in the mid-10s, and has shown no signs of slowing down whatsoever. His material calls back to the works of legends like Raekwon and Mobb Deep with his grim portrayals of crime and urban chaos, inspired and informed by his own past as a drug-dealer. Frequently Elcamino has found himself paired with Griselda cohorts such as Conway, Benny The Butcher, and Westside Gunn, but on his 2019 EP Abraham & Lot, he's riding solo for a more insular and introspective experience. Amidst his usual tales of street thuggery and cocaine-proliferation are occasionally mellow and reflective, backed by orchestral and piano-driven production from DJ Shay.

2020 marks eight years since Blu & Exile's last full length album 'Give Me My Flowers While I Can Still Smell Them'. Run The Jewels, the lauded duo of El-P and Killer Mike, have shared the long-awaited details of their feverishly anticipated new album, Run The Jewels 4. Set for release via Jewel Runners / RBC Records / BMG, this eleven song, 40 minute powerhouse is their most ferocious and focused effort to date, and sports a lineup of all-star guests including Pharrell Williams, Mavis Staples, 2 Chainz, Zack de la Rocha, Josh Homme, DJ Premier, and Greg Nice. Recorded primarily at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studios and the iconic Electric Lady Studios in NYC, RTJ4 represents two years of intensive writing, recording, distilling, and amplifying the most potent elements of their music. The new album is preceded by two singles, both of which arrived to rapturous reception. The first, “yankee and the brave (ep.4),” dropped during an impromptu Instagram Live session the duo held as shelter in place orders were starting to take hold. Days later, the second single “ooh la la (feat. DJ Premier & Greg Nice)” made a surprise debut in the season finale of the hit Netflix series Ozark, and became the #5 most Shazam’d song in the country. This was soon followed by the song’s glorious new music video, directed by Brian & Vanessa Beletic, which quickly shot to the #7 trending position on YouTube, surpassing 1.5 million views in its first week, and brilliantly setting the stage for the arrival of RTJ4.

The time between albums has been a very busy one for the duo, including scoring their first gold-certified record for “Legend Has It” from RTJ3; receiving their first Grammy nomination for the song “Chase Me,” a collaboration with Danger Mouse for the hit film Baby Driver; embarking on a full US arena tour with Lorde; contributing an exclusive song for the Marvel blockbuster Venom; and landing a major sync in a global Cadillac ad, which premiered during the 2020 Academy Awards. Additionally, Killer Mike debuted his acclaimed Netflix show, Trigger Warning with Killer Mike, continued his advocacy for Bernie Sanders, and lent his political muscle to the successful election of Atlanta’s first female black mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms. He’ll also be making his Hollywood debut in a soon to be announced feature film. Meanwhile, his partner in rhyme and RTJ producer El-P stayed busy in the studio making the music for RTJ4, contributing a song to the soundtrack for the Oscar-winning film Roma, scoring the biopic Capone starring Tom Hardy (which makes its digital debut today), and began a major reissue campaign for his celebrated solo recording catalog. He also made a surprise cameo in the new season of Mr. Robot with Rami Malek.

In addition to new music, Run the Jewels will be launching the group’s much-anticipated cannabis line, a collaboration with the founder of the legendary Cookies strain. The group are also set to join Rage Against The Machine for their massive world tour, which just last week was rescheduled for 2021 as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, and is already sold out.

The ‘Out Of Business’ album brought the classic EPMD feel of soul and funk mixed with the

Natural Elements acquired a record deal with Tommy Boy Records in 1998, the same year they released their first single "2 Tons/Live It Up" under their indie division called Tommy Boy Black Label. The situation would soon turn out not to be ideal as Tommy Boy continually shelved their debut album due to not knowing how to market and promote them. Issues between the group and label would soon lead to Natural Elements leaving Tommy Boy. The debut album was ultimately never released in spite of the hype it accumulated. In an interview, Mr. Voodoo stated "The Tommy Boy situation was hectic. We was supposed to have an album out in 1999. First, halfway through the album our A&R was fired. We still were still on and finished the album but they kept sitting on it. We were like let us go but give us our masters. So we got 'em. A whole fuckin album that no one may ever hear." The group eventually took a small hiatus and disbanded due to personal issues.

Kings Link Recordz released a compilation of tracks from those sessions in 2009 on CD only but this time around HHE will commemorate the legacy of Natural Elements by dropping it both on vinyl and CD. All the tracks have been fully mastered for both vinyl and CD as always and the artwork has been redone in the colours of the NY Knicks to represent their hometown to the fullest. The tracklist has been mildly redone, consisting of a shuffled tracklist and the classic "Life Ain't Fair" track was added to the tracklist instead of "MTV".

They released a classic single back then that went on to become a holy grail among vinyl collectors. They displayed an uncanny raw and unique style that will please any fans of early Wu-Tang and the Troubleneck Brothers.

The compilation will feature 9 tracks recorded from 1995-1997 and 11 tracks recorded from 2014-2019. Former Adagio! emcee Carta' P. is a legendary rapper hailing from Mount Vernon and was formerly known as Big Cousin or the Obvious Wonder. He along with his Philly counterpart Rayme Supreme have been responsible for dropping countless classics since the mid 90's. The headz that know Adagio! will remember they had a distinct, own style that made them instantly recognisable and that's also a feat this album has to offer.

Flee Lord and Eto both have the streets on fire right now. So, the announcement they were working on

A Tribe Called Quest are widely hailed as one of the greatest rap acts of all time. This trio (2-mic pioneers, Phife Dawg & Q-Tip, along with their DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad) was one of the most lyrically gifted in the music genre of Hip-Hop. The blends of jazz ‘n bass-heavy beats (East Coast “muddy bass”) was truly and still is truly innovative. Instead of being a great rap album like the one before it, “Beats, Rhymes & Life” is a great Tribe album. It takes time to understand it but it fits perfectly in its place in the Tribe canon and in the mid- 90s. It has their trademark smooth style and flow with a much darker theme and subject matter than their previous album. It’s a real work of art and still fresh so many years after its release.

Often referred as the fifth member of Slum Village, Phat Kat aka Ronnie Euro was the "proof of concept" for J Dilla's beats. When Dilla was looking for that grimy voice, that hard-core street sound that Dilla was obsessed with, he went to Kat. Kat and Dilla’s friendship was deep. They formed a group called 1st Down and were signed to Payday Records, a subsidiary of renowned London Records. Chopped Herring presents the CD version of Stranger Danger’s debut project “How to Lose Friends and Alienating People”. If you expect nothing but grimy underground hip hop from LA on this one, you got it all right!
From the producer of the amazing “Tha Roach Killaz LP” from last year on Herring comes Stranger Danger's debut solo album produced entirely by the LA native himself. Incredible sample choices mixed up with drug laced experimentalism makes this, along with his previous production outing, one of the nicest debuts in a minute. Also included among the variety of guest MC's is the kid A.F.R.O.
The CD title pays obviously contribution to the 2001 book by Toby Young. In 1995 high-flying British journalist Toby Young left London for New York to become a contributing editor at Vanity Fair. But things didn't quite go according to plan. “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People” is Toby Young's hilarious account of the five years he spent looking for love in all the wrong places and steadily working his way down the New York food chain, from glossy magazine editor to crash-test dummy for interactive sex toys.

When you hear the phrase, “everything’s fine,” we immediately understand it as emotional shorthand. In daily life, we depend on those perfunctory clichés (hope all is well, good to hear from you, etc.) to spare ourselves from the psychological unpacking that the truth requires. For that, there’s art. For that, there’s Everything’s Fine from Jean Grae and Quelle Chris, a jagged, acerbic odyssey that brilliantly riffs on this dystopian zeitgeist.
The thing is, anyone without a lobotomy and a toxic red hat understands that things are definitely not fine. The crush of modern anxiety, the late capitalist scramble to survive, and the brain warp rot of social media has left most of us half crazy.
“We have a dickhead for a president, and before our eyes, racial, religious, and sexual identity rights are moving backwards,” says New York’s (by way of Detroit) Quelle Chris. “Money is still a thing (I’m waiting for Star Trek life to start). There’s war, your kids may be sick, but if someone randomly asks ""how's it going?"" most people will say ""fine.""
Released on Mello Music Group, this album replaces that reflexive cliché with honest and eloquent tangents. It’s specific and subtle in its execution, achieving equilibrium between lackadaisical detours to smell the flowers and the frantic acknowledgement that there’s an inferno raging outside.
If the great political albums are often grim polemics, Everything’s Fine achieves its goals partially through withering satire. See the opening skit, a Prince Paul-style game show in which three contestants (including a futuristic robot) numbly croak that everyone’s fine despite flying high on every imaginable drug, crying themselves to sleep at night and being unemployed for a decade and a half despite having a Master’s in Fine Arts. I promise it’s much funnier than it reads off a screen.
“We’re both perfectionists in different ways,” Jean Grae describes their working relationship. “We both see huge pictures and concepts. So while listening, pay attention to the subtleties, the nuances, the dissonance and the harmony. The conversations and pieces of ourselves in the words, the flows, the beats. All of the open spaces. .Be uncomfortable and be okay with that. Be layered and be okay with that. Be angry and be okay.”
It’s rare to find a record where two rappers are so seamlessly intertwined. Yes, that’s partially a by-product of the teamwork that goes into being in any normal relationship where you wake, sleep, and dream together. But the album also bears the hallmarks of two singular creative geniuses trading bars, collaborating on beats, and combining fun with internal therapy and external observations. It features indelible cameos from Denmark Vessey, Grammy Award winner Anna Wise, Your Old Droog and Big Tone, as well as comics Ashok “Dap” Kondabolu, Michael Che, Nick Offerman, and Hannibal Burress.
In the streaming era, we tend to naturally overlook albums that require multiple listens. This is a record that will grab you on first listen, but it’s greatness only reveals itself through its careful construction, slick wordplay, and esoteric allusions.
On “Zero,” Jean artfully references Rachmaninoff and The Donner Party in the first two bars. With “Scoop A Dirt,” she name-drops the Babadook alongside the truth bomb that Friends was little more than a whitewashed rip off off Living Single. Meanwhile, Quelle balances boasts about bags of cash the size of Chris Christie with poignant existential laments. Somewhere in between, Jean will stealthily slip in jewels like, “it took me until my 30s just to put my finger on it, once you accept the knowledge/solace doesn’t follow/honest.”
It’s a record with only a couple antecedents: De La Soul is Dead, Organized Konfusion’s Stress: The Extinction Agenda, Blackstar, and maybe Cannibal Ox’s Cold Vein. Yet it doesn't sound remotely like any of them. It’s spontaneous and free, yet refined and meticulous. Even if everything is abject, it’s a reminder that music can transcend.
“This album is full of our minds. Our hearts. Our love for production, and words. flow and a lot of musicality,” Jeans says. “We don’t approach topics, issues, writing, or making beats in the same way. I’m harsh, blunt, quick, technical, I arrange classically and play more than I sample. I make joints with 80 tracks. I’m layers upon layers upon layers. Quelle is patient, he’s kinder. More loose and minimalistic. He makes sounds work together that shouldn’t fucking work. How? I have no idea. These are dreams within dreams.”

Buffalo, NY rapper Westside Gunn is one of hip-hop’s most exciting new stars, attracting fans and acclaim for his unique voice, exquisitely gritty wordplay, and minimalist, soul-drenched production. Mr. Green is a renowned hip-hop producer who has crafted tracks for the likes of Jedi Mind Tricks, Snoop Doog, A$AP Ferg, The Roots, Freddie Gibbs, KRS-One, Bodega Bamz, R.A. The Rugged Man, Deniro Farrar, Raz Fresco, and many more. Now, the two artists are joining forces for a new collaborative EP, FLYGOD Is Good… All The Time.
