DJ Randy Ellis (formerly Hotthobo) threw together "Discobolus" as a double sided cassette mix, selecting and showcasing some all-time favorite Disco, Funk, Boogie, and Soul Jams strictly on 7".
The Discobolus or "disc-thrower", and the potential energy expressed by it's tightly wound pose, alludes to the DJs ability to "throw discs", to blend and sequence them, create a story through the music, to ultimately make the listener feel and move to these musical relics...the music a vessel to change and shape the world around it.
This entire 7" mix features modern acts like Leonard Charles, The Jack Moves and Young Gun Silver Fox along-side mostly obscure soul/funk bands from 70s and 80s like Terry Gengis, Carol Shinnete and Bad News Band.

Genre:Organic Grooves
Los Angeles native Mat/Matix has soaked up, breathed, internalized and reimagined the west coast sound…championing G- Funk Basslines, Wave-y Jazz & Hip Hop Feels, Boogie-Funk Street Sounds, Underground House parties and RnB jeep-beats to create his own sound to perfectly accompany the beach-lined West Coast of California with the On Lock LP. A studio sound engineer by trade, Mat/Matix has perfected an ultimate LA street LP, perfect for any throwback, club or classic ride cruising the streets with a proper system. Born and raised in the palm tree mecca known as Venice, California, Mat/Matix took to music as a youngster, playing guitar, bass and jazz piano. Inspired by his friends to take up music production, he dove into the realm of G Funk and west coast hip hop. Over the years he developed an ear for the array of synths and drum machines sampled in his favorite rap songs and discovered a world of mysterious vinyl and tape treasures. You can find him today hovering over dollar bins, in dope spots, and occasionally shuffling cards in the players club. Purple Drip creeps right in with a drippy rising high, blessing the senses the same manner as a freshly rolled and dusted joint. So Rite follows form straight to the dancefloor, with a glazey instrumental palate of smooth jazz proto hip hop, bouncy g funk bass, and sexy robotic siren calls. Yes, My Guy takes the vibe straight to the coast with the top-down, for the perfect day of tropical chill and cooler-wave buoyance. Freakin’ (With You), the most radio-friendly of the bunch introduces Northern California-based singer Zyah Belle to the LP, and delivers the most anthemic chilled-groove RnB jam to make any situation soft and wet. The B Side starts with the vocal stabs of Contact Smoke, and hits full stride as the bass starts to pump… a perfect tune for a laid-back cruise. Flex 4 Me feels about as glued to the couch as the heaviest indica dab, bringing the roll to serious slow. Iman Europe makes her On Lock appearance in Calling Me, which is a radioesque tribute to the drive and pull and of the Cal
Roche - Life Is Beautiful

Life Is Beautiful
12" | 2021 | US | Original (Hobo Camp)
21,99 €*
Release:2021 / US – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
The “Life Is Beautiful” EP from Roche is a solid slab of 4 uplifting deep house cuts containing the grit and raw energy of golden-era hip-hop productions. Within the Roche-universe these cuts represent a “groovier” or “happier” side of his material (which can get rather dark/intense or completely minimal), with elements of disco/funk leads and rhythm, electro percussion, and sample based production tactics. The tracks on “Life Is Beautiful” are testaments to the small joys and gifts we get from life, the things that we often take for granted… An example being in Roche’s case, the rare and sometimes routine opportunity to see cats in the city. Roche is a mainstay of the San Francisco and Bay Area house/techno scenes, and has released records on labels like Mathematics, 100% Silk, Jacktone, Perfect Location, and Vinyl Dreams. Initially steeped in the hip hop production scene, the mid 2000s found him paddle away from his prior fixation and change his production ethos toward the dance floor. He developed a newfound passion for hardware and drum machines, extended grooves, repetitive yet addictive loops, oscillating filter treatments, and began to design his own productions in the mold of house, techno, and ambient. Still retaining his own distinct approach, his tracks infiltrated into those genres and yet remain adrift in their own dimension … always preserved and applied is his hip hop upbringing based in raw aesthetics and textures, and obscure samples.

A collaboration made to shock the system, progressive modern funk masters Brian Ellis and Sven Atterton linked up to create two immensely relevant and atypical club anthems: “Life Sentence” to highlight and protest police brutality in the United States, and “Driftin’ Off” to address the prominence of Depression/mental illness and the reaction to coping with it. Songs like these will always be topical in this world, as long as forces like the police and our government disproportionately treat people of color and those classified as “low-income” as 2nd class citizens and criminals, and our health care system denies/prevents affordable access to mental health services. This is a traditional DJ 12” that features full instrumentals of each song, with the music composed by Sven Atterton, lyrics/vocals by Brian Ellis, artwork by Primo Pitino (San Francisco, CA) and layout by Alaia Manley. Brian Ellis of Escondido, CA is currently a keyboardist and collaborator with The Egyptian Lover, has worked with artists like Newcleus and Juan Atkins, performed in bands like Astra, Reflection, Chrome Canyon, as well as released multiple solo LPs under his own name, and under many monikers. Sven Atterton resides in Cornwall, UK, and can be found playing original music under his full name. He’s released the heavily applauded and progressive modern funk masterpiece LP “The Cove” on Omega Supreme Records and “The Cape” on Cruise Club.

Like a pristinely built vehicle, mechanized and equipped with raw electronic instruments, the “Just Drive” EP by Helsinki, Finland based duo Motorized properly handles the city streets. A follow up to their debut release, “Test Drive EP, this new release has a unique emphasis on rhythm and bass unlike any former funk release, combining slick modern funk production, afro-brazilian rhythms, freestyle/electro drum feels with straight-up funk grooves and undertones of pseudo-tropicalia. Side A sets the tone with the "Just Drive (Tropical Mix)", aligning rhythmic patterns that rise up like a warming engine gradually building up tension and heat. The next track, "Shimmering (Soaked Up Mix)" is syncopated funk imagined as a quirky broken beat tune, and the A side is closed out by the sledge-hammering funk of "Route 4 (Motorized Mix)". Side B jams the pace a bit faster on "Amiga (Popcorn Mix)” which captures the vibe of classic Amiga racing games, cruising through checkpoints lined by endless rows of trees, as the roadsides swish by. The last track, "Cachoeira (Mineral Mix)" harnesses the tranquil yet playful nature of waterfalls as inspiration, a soothing end to the EP.

Run The Length Of Your Wildness is a weekly dance party held every Monday night at Underground SF in San Francisco, which initially launched on August 24th, 2015 in a small rave cave known as The Basement — formerly and infamously known as 222 Hyde — in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood. Friends and 100% Silk labelmates Cherushii (Chelsea Faith) and Roche (Ben Winans) started the night as an opportunity to DJ more often, honing their skills in the process. But thanks to the intimate setting, The Basement’s supportive owner and staff, and the wonderful crowd who attended on a regular basis, Run The Length Of Your Wildness became so much more than that: a community of music-obsessed weirdos, nerds, scene fixtures, first-time ravers, and eccentrics, leavened by the occasional random partygoer passing by, taking a chance, and finding themselves hooked on their new Monday night mainstay.

We book primarily local DJs and live acts, and make an effort to book artists and DJs who have never performed out before. We encourage experimentation, and we’re proud to say Run The Length Of Your Wildness has become a place for electronic musicians and DJs to showcase their expressive freedom and GO WILD!

On December 2, 2016, Cherushii, Nackt (Johnny Igaz) and several other beautiful souls were lost in the Oakland Ghost Ship warehouse fire. The loss is beyond devastating — we miss our friends dearly. The San Francisco electronic music community has come together to do whatever we can to champion their legacy, and Run The Length Of Your Wildness is proud to be an enduring part of that legacy.

Hobo Camp is proud to be able to partner with Run The Length Of Your Wildness to produce a release containing music from Cherushii and Nackt, to preserve their legacy and contributions.

M5K returns to Hobo Camp with his brand new EP “Time 2 Jam”, a sonic affair of drum machine hits and synth lines, evoking a vision of a beach-side urban studio apartment blasting out party jams and smooth tunes from sunrise to sunset and beyond. Fusing equal parts classic electro, boogie-funk, house and R’n’B, M5K re-imagines the best of the 80s and 90s urban club scene using all legit studio equipment from the era, making absolutely sure that the vibe is right, the drums hit hard and crispy and the bass is pumping. This EP is a follow up to his 1st release on Hobo Camp, “Absolutely Real” from 2016, and just like all M5K productions, is guaranteed to dominate and destroy on the dance floor. “The One For Me” starts the EP off and instantly gets heads-nodding with its snapping drums, g-funk sub bass and west coast lead line. “Eternally” is hypnotic hip-house class, dipped in a liquid gloss with all the rave-y feels to get the folks moving, grooving, gesturing and voguing. “Time 2 Jam” is an homage to classic 80s electro, dominated by legit 808 programming and synth lines that OGs will have to assume is from the era. “City Vue” squeezes out a nice sticky funk paste with each sustained chord, and features Indonesian guest artist Munir (of Midnight Runners) to contribute his style to the jam. “All About U” bounces, bumps, and slices along with a heavy gangster bass lines appropriate for any lowered ride to cruise along and weave through it’s snappy drums. “Wait Up” is a spacey, sultry, slow g-funk electro, the perfect smooth jam to start or end any rendezvous or journey

Blue pearl sky, golden sand, industrial particulate solution like an LA sunset surround a titanium hover bike speeding along the dusty horizon, silhouetted against an off-world sunset where nature and machine capture each other in a temporary spiral dance. “Time Raft” from Panavision is a soundtrack to an imagined future, from the past. Channeling it’s influences, part melody talisman blessed by the sorcery of Dan Judd (aka Sorcerer) and fused to a bottle of fine Chablis with sticky strips of Luke Vibert’s beard, one could almost hear the clear punchy thwack of an Oberheim DX on an early 80’s Whispers track in the distance, surrounded by optimistic synthesized chords, expansive and reminiscent of a Future World Orchestra number. This is the vision of a crying civilization.
