A download code is included. Low Jack & Equiknoxx join Dominick Fernow’s Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement on a new double vinyl expansion of ‘Red Ants Genesis’. Recorded in winter 2017, ‘Red Ants Genesis’ finds the Hospital Productions boss discovering strength in collaboration following the triumph of his ‘Ambient Black Magic’ classic, which was conjured with the crucial assistance of Juan Mendez a.k.a. Silent Servant. Here, he works with Phillippe Hallais aka Low Jack and of Editions Gravats, who also tags in his pals Gavsborg and Time Cow from Jamaican digidub futurists Equiknoxx for a killer new version of the title track.

Completing the reissue cycle of Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement’s ambient invocations, Papua New Guinea [2012] is rendered in this new remaster by Paul Corley (0PN, Tim Hecker, Ben Frost) and sacrificed to vinyl for the first and last time on Hospital Productions. Slotting alongside 5 previous vinyl reissues of the original tape editions released over the last 12 months, Papua New Guinea loops back to the start of the saga, affording a clearer and more immersive way into one of Dominick Fernow’s most (oc)cultish projects. The eight track dosage of Papua New Guinea generated a wave of speculation as to its shadowy provenance back in 2012. It sounded little like anything else in circulation and left heads genuinely floundering for answers to its riddling track titles and extreme aesthetics; a steeply evocative combination of near-infrasonic sub-bass tones and cold but humid environmental sounds laced with slow, looping, tribal rhythms. It took at least another year before the project was revealed as an outlet for Hospital Productions capo Dominick Fernow, who had been quietly taking the opportunity to explore a sound putatively unfamiliar to his better known projects. Yet, with hindsight, it’s now easier to hear RSE as an inverse, endothermic alternative to the raging energies of his Prurient output or the searing, propulsive combustions of Vatican Shadow, for example. In stark contrast to proceeding instalments’ increasing track lengths, Papua New Guinea is comprised of eight relatively concise parts, with each side of vinyl relating to one of the original tapes. The A-side seeps into consciousness in frightening style with Paul Corley’s remaster now bringing the long, slippery sub-bass descent of There Are Many Powerful Spirits Living In The Hills And Stones And It Is Not A Good Idea To Disturb Them to life with uncanny psychoacoustic subtlety, before hypnotic rhythms take possession for the duration and the listener is eventually deposited at the bombed-out ambient ecology of The Spirit Was Angry And Froze The Bulldozer So It Could Not Move. The Bulldozer Is Still There Today. What occurs between those points defies description in the manner of the strongest psychedelics, and likewise, requires deep immersion for full comprehension.

The extended mixes single of Phase Fatale’s debut full-length album on Hospital Productions takes three of the most dancefloor-ready songs from Redeemer into abstracted, surreal and uncharted territory aimed for unlit, claustrophobic chambers. Aided by Silent Servant with additional production, together Hayden Payne and Juan Mendez transform “Order Of Severity,” “Operate Within,” and “Spoken Ashes” further down the machine. With more percussion and editing, they tear apart and lengthen the tracks through temporal space. The Redeemer (Extended Mixes) 12” will be released simultaneously alongside the full-length album, adding yet another dimension into Payne’s own universe of the degenerated present.

Taking Place In The Foyer was originally released in a run of just 14 copies on double tape back in 2012 and is now available on vinyl for the first time as part of the ongoing Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement reissue series. The newly remastered, first and last ever vinyl cut ofTaking Place In The Foyerforms the penultimate instalment in Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement’s necessary reissue scheme. Originally appearing second in the series, it then served to only heighten the enigma of a project which was, as yet, undisclosed as the work of Dominick Fernow, who’s maybe best known for his transgressive Prurient output, and theMuslimgauze-inspired rhythmic reportage of Vatican Shadow, as well as overseeing the ever Hospital Productions imprint. On its original release, each of RSE’s hand-duplicated and super limited tape editions were rabidly devoured by Hospital Productions disciples with little or no firm knowledge of the project’s provenance, this one included. Understandablythey became coveted items for hardcore disciples and new admissions to the label’s occult mass alike, often fetching multiples of the original retail price on the 2nd hand market.Taking Place In The Foyeris among the most cherished of the early RSE instalments. Following and diverging his unheimlich path, these four tracks find Fernow broadening his temporal scope and entrenching thespirits farther from home, covering bleaker terrain with the trudging momentum and shuddering conclusion ofSpot A Witch By Changes In The Person’s Behaviour, whereasIn New Guinea Police Don’t Have The Petrol Money ToSearch For The Witch Murdererslocates him toiling aleatoric at some dank workshop, and the unanswered CB radio crackle ofBodies Of Suspected Witches Are Dumped In The River Or Buried In Toilet Pitssets up the petrifying closingscene ofSorcery Killings.RSE can be taken as a minimal, supernatural-focussed adjunct to Vatican Shadow’s war commentary, invoking a more abstract, visceral and haptic sound, leaving us stranded in atropical-rain streaked AR soundscape....

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Utterly destructive and heart-wrenching power noise and catharsis from the don gorgon of Hospital Productions, making his first album confession since the release of the stunning Frozen Niagara Falls.Taking almost 40 minutes to spell out a litany of ills that mark up as classic, pain-saturated Prurient in contrast with the more layered, nuanced narrative and more complex production values of his last album, the set boots off with the infernal backdraft and flagellating vox of the album’s most succinct piece, Let Your Mind Free (Whip The Corpse). Sharp blasts of noise distortion conceal a forlorn Fernow vocal, like that classic Lynchian conceit of obscuring dialogue at the most crucial moment, perversely enhancing narrative through obstruction. It’s a brilliant, disturbing, opener.Sore chord progressions and those same distanced vox crushed by needling distortion fill the nine minutes of Before Rain Becomes Snow with much emotional impact; revealing a sort of disturbed and buried Shoegaze appeal that sounds like a Grouper x Prurient recording session from another dimension. However, the album’s most captivating tract comes with the gaping black holer, In The Ruins of My Brother - where the distortion dissipates to the edges, allowing vast blooming bass flares and slithering high registers to wrap around the neck with a spacious, full spectrum dominance that recalls Prurient’s Pleasure Ground classic, before Red Poppy Laughter slips back into an opiated sort of naval-gazing noise bliss.

NYC’s Adam X regains his ‘floor traction as Traversable Wormhole with a contrasting slab of pounding and rolling techno truckers for Hospital Productions.Offering his first new Traversable Wormhole productions in well over four years, it’s a far more amped X than we last heard on his sluggish, sewer-dwelling ADMX-1 album, Coherent Abstractions for L.I.E.S. in 2015.Sublight Velocities aims for the jugular up top, squaring off a bruising tattoo of militant kicks packing elephantine recoil while plasmic black drones stoically deplete the spirit, leaving us feeling like a gurning nub and the last person standing in the warehouse. The coldly hypnotic Semiclassical Gravity rolls off the bone on the B-side, accentuating the groove’s elliptical, rolling chassis with acidic subbass rubs and stepping hi-hat patterns seemingly dispersing the other side’s lactic build up and steeling the dancer for what’s to come.Proper, black-heart techno for the fiends.

Barcelona’s Exoteric Continent grounds his first ever vinyl release following cassette drops for Opal Tapes and Second Sleep. Exploring ascetic techno and electronic noise, this vinyl edition combines both his ‘Referèndum’ tape volumes on one fine slab.Something of a relative outsider in the balearic climes of his home city, Arnau Sala Saez pushes an intense, probing sound, both with his own music and via closely associated cohorts N.M.O., or Americans, Eric Frye, and Helmer, who’ve all released on his brilliant Anòmia label. With ‘Referèndum’ Exoteric Continent draws us into the awkward spaces and styles around techno and noise’s shifting, jagged borders, using drums, percussion, magnetic tape and synthesisers to outline nine atonal and enigmatic silhouettes.Ranging from the creeping slow techno misshape of ‘Percentages’ thru the sagging chamber feeling of ‘Posicions’, to the Soisong-like gamelan tones of ‘Transició’, and over to the kinky industrial swing instincts of ‘La Mirada Llarga’, he mixes rugged structures with stranger, keening electronics in the insectoid logic of ‘Autoritat’, and the rubbled electro-acoustic texturhythm of ‘Agrupació Civil’ to forge a fractious, unstable brace of noise techno that sits somewhere between classic Pan Sonic and his Hospital lablemate Alberich.

The maxi single counter part to the first official full length album from Silent Servant and features three extended, twisted, functional mutilations of tracks from the Negative Fascination full length. Juan Mendez has achieved international acclaim as a DJ and is one of the founding producers of the infamous and highly influential Sandwell District label. Long-time followers will feel the effects of a die cast over a decade of precision and dedication to underground minimalist electronic music. Mendez blends his previously stated interpretations of early post-punk, filtered through the monolithic works of Basic Channel with his own progressively nihilistic vision of Industrial. He utilizes a relentless and uncompromising mastery of hard-as-nails sequencer techno at the forefront with dystopian atmospherics filling the void. Negative Fascination bridges disparate factions on ideological grounds, regardless of sound in the age of mutation.

Dominick Fernow’s Hospital Productions hail the obscure, transfixing poetry and exquisite gothic pall of Vilains Bonshommes; a Rimbaud-inspired duo including members of Canada’s Contrepoison and Norwegian group, Mare.Éternité Retrouvée was first released as a cassette edition on Norway’s Fossbrenna Creations and remains the duo’s only available output. Apparently a further album was promised, yet never manifested, which only serves to heighten the mystery of this one; their lone, exceptional iteration. Stripped to the bare essentials of drum machine, analog synth and vocals rendered in acres of sepulchral space, the 3-track EP draws listeners into a flawlessly realised sphere of dark influence where minimalist, desiccated harmonies and bony rhythms are embedded against unfathomably bombed out, maximalist backdrops - what most would define as unmistakably gothic.Poised, arch and evoking a sense of clutching power from the jaws of despair, the EP speaks to life’s loneliest but formative experiences both literally, through the use of Rimbaud’s tortured poetry in the sagging heave of L’Éternité, and metaphorically, through economically authentic sound design in the dirges of Death Shines On Triumphant Days and The Ages Anew which both suspend the listener by icy hooks at the core of it all.

Clay Rendering, the tortured pop project of former Wolf Eyes member Mike Connelly and his wife Tara, pledge three diverse but unmistakably gothic sacrifices to Hospital Productions in the wake of two outstanding albums and some of the most addictive EPs we’ve heard from North America’s erstwhile noise quarters.Soused in the spirits of black metal, coldwave pop and shoegaze, their new cuts reflect a black indigo spectrum of tastes with an inflamed desire for proper song structures and the kind of hooks that hearken back to teenaged thrills and what allured them to music in the first place -and it makes for perhaps their most realised set of tracks yet. With Dominick Fernow as producer and effectively acting in a 3rd band member role, they triangulate a sound that’s nostalgic for the gothic undertones of ‘80s and ‘90s darkness, getting into gear with the hearse-cruising coldwave pop rocket We Are Aware, and casting a long, northern-pointing shadow of BM toil and shoegaze anguish in Never Pass Away.Ultimately though, we reckon it’s the B-side - an instrumental cocktail of ice cold, downbeat ‘electronics that sounds like Badalamenti meets ambient Plastikman - which will get under the skin and stick with you longest...

This second EP from Mike and Tara Connelly’s Clay Rendering follows on from their startling debut ‘Nature’s Confusion’ and further evolves their songcraft through four pieces that draw you in with a slowly building emotive weight.References are hard to draw but the tracks here recall everything from Cocteau Twins and The Cranes at their most desolate to classic Sonic Youth, coloured and mis-shaped through abstract production assistance from Dominick Fernow and additional synth from Robert Beatty of Three Legged Race / Hair Police.‘Waters Above The Firmament’ and “Myrrh Is Rising” were written in the dead of winter...”The Pest” and “Temple Walking” in the heat of summer.

Cocaine Death is a compilation of three of Prurient’s most sought-after cassette releases: 2007’s’ ‘Cocaine Death’, ‘Caribbean Overdose’ and ‘Tylenol Murders’, eventually compiled as ‘Cocaine Death’ for a CD release in 2008. This is the first time this collection has ever been available on vinyl, now fully remastered for the format.Cocaine Death brings together several strands and signifiers from the Prurient catalogue, containing some of its most visceral and experimental works, alongside some of its most evocative. From the arpeggiated/submerged noise of opener ‘Pretext (Bahamian Burial)’ to the padded, pulsating closer ‘Postscript (Coke Cunts)’ the material here explores the relationship between futile pleasure, substance and escape; escape being a myth.
