In a time when threats of religious hostility and environmental decay loom heavily over the world, we have no choice but to acknowledge the inevitability of death. Not only does it spread fear, stigma and hatred, but it also reminds us of the grasp our own mortality has on us. Death is just a heartbeat away and our fear of the unknown is apparent now more than ever. Thus the title Memento Mori (Latin: remember that you must die). The heavy rock powerhouse Sahg have since their beginnings in 2004 delivered grade-A hard rock of the fist bumping and heavy-leaded sort. When elements hoisted from the depths of doom converge with the realm of progressive rock, one can draw parallels to greats such as Black Sabbath, Pentagram and Mastodon. Sahg procure a unique blend of the aforementioned while resting firmly on a heavy metal base. The crisp sound on their fifth and latest effort Memento Mori defies the idea of simple genre categorization in favour of delivering a damn good heavy metal album!

Limited edition for Record Store Day 2016!After many years of intense touring the band had decided to take a break from live shows until a proper new album was ready. In 2011 the band undertook intense writing sessions and began to record demos. The foundations of the first tracks were recorded in Umeå and an album slowly took form. The recording process was longer and more scattered than before and in 2012 the band eventually got together for a longer, final session in Umeå, at Tonteknik Recording. The result was ‘Vertikal’. ‘Vertikal’ marked a much-anticipated return for the band after five years spent cultivating the ideas and directing the influences that have helped form a concept for the album. Distilled throughout are themes of machinery, repetition and clear, linear structures honed to the visual imagery of Fritz Lang’s classic expressionist science-fiction film ‘Metropolis’. The music broods, builds and boils as you may expect from Cult of Luna, but never over-complicates itself or veers from its intentions; it is arguably their finest and most cohesive piece of work to date. After releasing “Vertikal” in January 2013 and many months of intense touring in 2013 the band now shows a new, even more futuristic outlook with “Vertikal II”.

There is always a story behind any band. This story started with a bunch of guys from local bands who ended up playing together after 20 years of friendship. This is story of good luck, a mix of coincidences and being in the right place at the right time.Thyrant was formed in the summer of 2015 in Southern Spain, still without a name, just an idea and some riffs. Five guys playing together for the first time in a city where everybody knows everybody. It took nine months for them to fill the rehearsal room with a concept and create a full album ready to go to the Artesonao music studio and embrace the mountains of Málaga with earth, wind and fire for the last ten days of May 2016.Their eight-track debut album navigates through despair, from gloom and doom vibes, up to a more strong and powerful kind of metal, technical and prog but also safe into more classic metal and rock. Not a death metal act in essence, but most of the vocals are pure death metal style. Not a classic rock band, but the 80's double guitars and melodies in addition to the fierce and power of the bass and drum rhythm are classic rock and metal. Not a thrash metal band in essence either, but a track like ‘E.O.S.' is a 100% thrashy-catchy song. Not a black metal band at all, but there is some old evil spirit surrounding the most epic side of the band a-la Bathory on ‘Carving the Throne', or the most contemporary vibes of black metal on ‘Delusion' or ‘Hard Boiling'."'What We Left Behind...' clearly reflects all of our misery, pain and shame, but also our development, love and passion witnessed within this short period of time" comments the band members on their debut album. Life can be tough, but also a nice travel companion, a dream within a dream, coming to fruition in the midst of so much misery. Just like music. From Maiden to Priest, from Enslaved to Obituary, from Carcass to Slayer. "Our heroes have accompanied us on this journey, they helped us to face the Thyrant. It must have a horrible face, just like us". A Thyrant with no face yet, but soon to be revealed.

From Horten, Norway emerges the black metal band Nidingr – a band that’s been in the scene all the way since 1992. Since then, Nidingr has released 1 demo and 3 albums and played on the biggest metal festivals all over the world. Nidingr is a band that let themselves grow naturally over time and when they release an album it’s in good belief that it’ll be a great contribution to the top tier world of metal music. They are now releasing their fourth album on Feb 10th 2017, titled “The High Heat Licks Against Heaven”. An album drenched in Norse mythology, and names from the younger and older Edda appears throughout in the lyrics. The album drifts in the middle of black and death metal, but with the Norse theme it creates a unique and fresh breath of sound. To put it mildly, this is a brutal and honest metal record. The album was being worked on intensely for two years, where they took a deep dive into the old English translations of the older and younger Edda from the 18th century. They are continuously striving towards authenticity and shapes the music partly around the theme and the text material, which in broad terms talks about the great and classical themes like death, afterlife, war and the many majestic personalities from the mythology. The songs are characterized by heavy riffs in a glassy but dirty sound, with at times some melodies with melancholic atmospheres, steady tempo with an almost marching undertone. The vocals hang on in the top of the sound wall with a drive, power and quality one rarely hears. With Cpt.Estrella Grasa on vocals, Teloch (Mayhem, Gorgoroth, God Seed) on guitar, Destructhor (Myrkskog, Morbid Angel) on backing vocals (guitar), Myrvoll on drums and SIR (Gaahls Wyrd, Trelldom, God Seed) on bass, the music is shaped to a monolith of an album in an unmitigated an authentic style.

Barely breaking into their twenties, Fight the Fight has already been a band for more than a decade, though under a different name (Faenskap and Oslo Faenskap). They've played at all the major festivals in Norway, toured Europe and received massive praise among others from Metal Hammer UK for their phenomenal live performances. During their existence, they've played several hundred shows, making them a tight knit unit that`s formed an unbreakable bond within the group. It`s the classic story of childhood friends and schoolmates forming a band whose dreams and ambitions run high. They have made it the center of their lives, and work it as hard as they possibly can. Pushing the whole project to the limit of their capabilities, but ultimately succeeding in reaching their goal: creating a debut record reflecting both their ambition and vision of what`s to come.Fight the Fight`s debut record is young, fresh and bursting with energy. Just as you would expect from a debut record of a band that has been buzzing around the Norwegian underground for several years. But, it is more…much more. It is a mature, well-composed rock/metal grenade with immediately memorable hooks, catchphrases and choruses. It`s not your average debut record, with elements of rock, punk, metal and black metal woven into a unique and progressive sound. Big riffs siting effortlessly alongside memorable hooks.

Limited edition for Record Store Day 2016!Kampfar presents the fiercest and most intense recording of their career. Since its first conception in 1994 with folk and classical music influences, via the colder winds on Kvass, the band has kept on renewing, and elevated into the black metal authority that reaches its peak on “Profan”. Songs like “Pole In The Ground” and “Profanum” hearken back to the vibes of the early 90s black metal while keeping the edge of 2015 Kampfar, while slow burners like “Daimon” and epic album closer “Tornekratt” shows that Kampfar can go deep down and still deliver such intensity that few in the world of metal can match.Visually the band has chosen to go back and acquire several paintings by Polish master Zdzisław Beksiński. “What Kampfar captures with sound is an essence that we have only seen mirrored in Beksiński's work, and thus it is only natural to use his art to front our music.” – Ask Ty (Drummer). “Profan” is a fitting end to a long journey through nature's magic, the power of perseverance in the face of gargantuan forces, and finally acceptance that there is no such thing as resolution. To paraphrase from the words spewed in “Skavank”, there will be: 'no prayers, no prophecies, no hymns, no rituals, no life'.’ But there will be fire.

Limited edition for Record Store Day 2016!On their 6th studio album, the follow-up album of well received Mare in 2011, the veterans of Kampfar deliver Norse pagan folk-metal inspired by the member’s background in Norwegian Black Metal, Folk and Classical music. Djevelmakt is mixed by Peter Tägtgren (Amon Amarth, Borknagard, Celtic Frost, Immortal, Dimmu Borgir). The cover art is something special, since it is an oil painting from 1981 by Zdzisław Beksiński. The remaining design incorporates a second Beksiński painting, as well as a painting by English painter John Charles Dollman. The artworks were selected by the band before the recording started and helped influence the direction of the sound as well as the lyrics. Djevelmakt proves that 20 years of existence does not dull the blade, but grinds it into a sharpness more scything than ever before.

Genre:Rock / Indie
Sarke’s fourth album, featuring the icy and grim screams from Darkthrone’s lead vocalist Nocturno Culto, is truly the grandest and most dynamic album from Sarke to this date. ‘Bogefod’ presents nine tracks that stretch from lingering atmospheric doom to thrash to black metal and technical metal - all within the realms of superb quality. It is a highly conceptual album spinning around the evil walking dead Torolv Bogefod from the Norse classic Eyrbyggja saga. After an ugly death Torolv breaks out of his tomb. Dead, yet undead, he terrorizes the villagers and causes deaths and devastations. This Viking story is a 1000 years old. Several retrospective musical elements enhance the underlying story, as the warm sound of a 100-year-old guitar colors the otherwise icy and grim atmosphere of Nocturno Culto’s screams. In addition to this, the ballad in the track ‘Dawning’ in between all the ripping and chilling moments throughout the album enriches the contrast and contributes to telling the story’s true and folky nature. Sarke is in a sense a band formed by legends of the darker metal genre, with the pre-mentioned Nocturno Culto on vocals, Steinar Gundersen (Satyricon) on guitar, Thomas “Sarke” Bergli (Khold, Tulus) on bass and Anders Hunstad (El Caco) on keyboards. Together they have crafted an extremely immersive album surely to draw the listener into a historical and dark universe in a way no one ever have before. Both Sarke as a band, and the story Bogefod’s lyrics presents will take part in a movie called SAGA, where Nocturno Culto has a leading role.

It is an undisputable fact that Seigmen stand tall as one of the great pillars in the Norwegian rock scene, paving the way for rock bands all over Norway. Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the exceptional album Total, followed by the 20-year anniversary of their breakthrough album Metropolis in 2015, which defined them as one of the leading forces in Norwegian rock throughout the 90s. April 2015 sees the release of Seigmens latest album entitled Enola. They released seven albums in six years, but it took 18 long years after the release of Radiowaves before they decided to create a new studio-album. Seigmen defined the sound of Norwegian rock for a great many during the 90s. However, the band disappeared off the radar as fast as they entered, after dominating the charts with their unique mixture of melancholic rock and tasteful pop. "Enola is the bands unexpected, long-awaited and unlikely studio-release #8. Seigmen has been playing a handful of shows in the last couple of years and in 2012, new songs appeared. Speculation over a new album immediately ensued among the bands fan-base, which has had a steady growth in the recent years.

The new album is finally done, and it has taken the hard-hitting Norwegian quintet two years of blood, sweat and tears concluding the process. The result is exceptionally complex in its simplicity, still keeping their snappy hooks and tongue in cheek humor. The wait for Dunderbeist’s 7th album release has been more than 2 years long, a waiting period pretty unusual for such a highly productive bunch. (Their previous release was in 2012, but then they released two albums during that year). This time the band has taken their time with no hurries and no random decisions, digging deep and greedy into the dark matter. The result sounds ripened and stored like the best of brews, and the fact that they let German producer Vincent Sorg (Kreator, Die Toten Hosen, Oslo Ess ++) have his way with mixing and mastering the tracks might have made this brew into something quite extraordinary.Like on their self-titled 2011 album, “Hyklere” has lyrics in Dunderbeist’s native tongue, with its raw and brutally honest touch from their local Hedmark woodlands, a sound defining the band’s origins and true nature. Back then, the lyrics were spun around local myths of small town hatred and axe murder. This time the words have taken a more personal turn, into the darker aspects of life.

Posthum (founded 2004) is in no way a band that hide themselves in a scene, nor a constellation of members you will see in other bands. They`ve carefully created their own unique sound and way of thinking as an isolated band, located in the forests north of Oslo. Their self-titled debut record is highly acclaimed as a hard, but yet atmospheric and beautiful album, with a cold sound and strong arrangements constantly growing on the listener. Combined with their introvert and honest image they made a distinct impression on the scene. “Posthum accomplish what many bands are merely attempting, which is to deliver a work of art that is complete in itself; and it needs to be said that they did this brilliantly” – Metal.de review of “Posthum”. Their next effort “Lights Out” (released by Indie Recordings) also received praise from a unified press core: “…the beauty of Lights Out stems from Posthum having their own clear identity and distancing themselves from the ‘trve’ Norwegian scene. It’s deeply refreshing” - Metal Hammer UKThis time around, the band breaks the surface with their third album, «The Black Northern Ritual». One would most likely expect something ambient and gloomy from the Norwegian trio, something similar to their more experimental second album «Lights Out». That is though not the case. «The Black Northern Ritual» tears you apart with the opening «Demon Black Skies». Jon`s voice is more aggressive, the guitars more up front and drums has a more thrashy approach than ever before. This new mix is certainly a poisonous blend. «I really felt the urge to write something powerful and I wanted to follow up on the themes from our debut. I truly think we`ve awakened the true sound of ourselves after a decade as a band» -Jon, vocalist and guitarist«Lyrically, the album is a rebellion against the false and corrupted values in the modern western world, which is so tempting and easy to believe in and follow. The lyrics are to me a purifying ritual, an inner journey to keep myself in balance, kind of a safe-place where I never have to escape from. I also seek inspiration from the forever-pure nature, and the frustration on how we blindly let it suffer. Sometimes it`s like the universe speaks to me, then I just write down the lyrics as I listen to the arrangements which flows around inside my head» -Jon, vocalist and guitarist
