Known more for their dubby 'kosmische' and psychedelic post-disko, Glasgow label Invisible Inc seem to be wandering closer to the realms of the nightclub dancefloor these days. Not that anyone's complaining. With recent outings by Strange Culture and Sordid Sound System taking the lead, this one by Budapest's Bal5000 is quite possibly their most dancefloor friendly release yet.All four cuts inhabit a space somewhere at the very edge of 'house' but are steeped in soaringly cosmic italo-esque synth lines and bubbling, motorik arpeggios reminiscent of early '80s minimal.....the result is a real sonic treat: hypnotically transcendant, yet beautifully melodic, and all solidly underpinned by some seriously low-end sub-bass, tight rhythms and pistol-sharp snares.

Invisible, Inc pull out the stops with their most dancefloor-friendly release to date which comes courtesy of Strange Culture aka Glasgow-based DJ GK Machine. The EP features 4-tracks all built around the classic arpeggiators and self-oscillating filters of two synth heavyweights going head to head: a customized Jupiter-4 meeting a seriously hot-rock-burned Jupiter-8. “I set myself this challenge, well, limitation really – to make a themed EP of tracks all using the JP-4 arp, which I then expanded to include the JP-8 arp. I've been reading a lot of sci-fi too lately so the titles and general cosmic-ness are 'space' related in some way. I like Ian M. Banks' idea of advanced civilizations and/or species 'subliming' once the physical world leaves nothing remaining unachievable, basically leaving the known dimensions of space and time behind to take up residence in several higher dimensions. I'm fully aware we humans aren't quite there in that respect and are still rather primitively running around shooting ourselves but it's a nice idea to think of a world where we realise we are all one and the same and are therefore able to step back and focus on what's important rather than the squabbles, wars and petty day-to-day crap that seem to so belittle our rather amazing existence.”

We're extremely pleased here at Invisble Inc HQ to be releasing this amazing new album by veteran multi-instrumentalist and ethno-musicologist Jon Keliehor.Originally from Seattle and musically active since the 1960s Jon started out playing drums and percussion in bands like The Daily Flash and Bodine all the while becoming known as a venerable session and touring musician in his own right. Not many people can claim to have played alongside Jim Morrison AND James Brown....but Jon certainly has.Moving to London in the '70s where he lived until the mid '80s, Jon started composing music for theatre, drama and dance. During this time his own work veered toward the more experimental and it was during this period that two of his “cult” library music albums saw the light of day (East Meets West on Bruton and Avantgarde on Studio G).Returning to Seattle in the early '90s Jon joined Gamelan Pacifica where he developed his knowledge of Javanese and Balinese gamelan and for whom he became a primary composer of non-traditional pieces. In the late '90s Jon moved to Glasgow with world renowned percussionist (and his then partner) Signy Jacobsdottir and they both became staple members of Gamelan Naga Mas with whom they are still active today.Feedback:An epically great album and my most listened to record over summer 2016” (JD Twitch / Optimo) A truly timeless and vast 4th World musical vision for an off-world generation. Masterpiece” (House of Traps / Firecracker Recordings / Unthank / Sacred Summits)Fantastic LP bringing to mind elements of Tor Lundvall, Jon Hassell and Paulo Modugno. Recommended listen for anyone who enjoys zoning out to natural sound” (12th Isle Transmissions)

Invisible, Inc now brings the aptly named SPACEROCKS into the fold with the release of a 6- track EP that comes storming in from the outer reaches of a galaxy light years away (or just decades past?) into the earpiece of your unwashed spacesuit. It's hard to pinpoint what genre this actually fits into but if you imagine Vapourspace's Gravitational Arch Of 10 as interpreted by Vangelis with drum programming by Nitzer Ebb you'd be getting reasonably close. Other influences may well include Cluster, Conrad Schnitzler, Chris & Cosey to name a few, while comparisons can be made to contemporaries like Solyst, Musiccargo, Barnt and Secret Circuit. SPACEROCKS is a solo offshoot project from Higamos Hogamos main man Steve Webster (also Fort Lauderdale, The Black Neon, Memphis Industries, DC Recordings). The project sees Steve ditch his band and strip things down to his modular, vintage and custom-built synthesizer set up alongside equally rare and vintage analogue drum machines, sequencers and FX units.

Invisible Inc's latest limited 12” brings cosmic adventurer Secret Circuit into the fold. Secret Circuit is the project of musician and visual artist Eddie Ruscha (Laughing Light Of Plenty, Blasé, Thriftcoteque, amongst others) whose solo and collaborative activities have issued forth an inordinate number of stellar releases on labels such as Emotional Response, Beats In Space, Internasjonal Spesial, ESP Institute, Exist Dance and Rush Hour's 'No Label'. With Higher Planes Drifter Secret Circuit has excelled himself yet again. From the outset the bar is set pure and high and we're transported to far flung reaches where only Secret Circuit can take us: expanding upwards and outwards to bathe in the synthesized waves of a warm cosmic ocean. Gothic Rainbow, as the title might suggest, starts off dark and brooding like a bio-mechanical John Carpenter, and slowly evolves into what is quite possibly the most uplifting, blissful piece of music we've heard in a good while. With innumerable synths, a deeper-than-deep bass and a soaring guitar Ruscha manages to blend a perfect sound that's as emotionally warm (and emotive) as it is refreshing. Cold electronic music this is not! Rattlesnake Jelly and Rhythmatic Generator push further out. With touches of “kosmische', experimental lo-fi, some serious synth workouts and tripped up beats the music truly defies categorising as there's nothing else quite like it. Imagine, if you will, swarms of hallucinating microbes at a mass pagan ritual set on the surface of an old drum machine's circuit board and you'll be close. The closing track, Memory Melt, is a thing of pure, lilting beauty. Transcendant, laidback and dubbed out, its piano, guitars, bass and space echo combine in a swirling whirlpool of colorful sound that early morning ravers on the beaches of Ibiza have only dreamed about in what is known as the vertical time shell pod: a phenomenon that appears on certain beaches once every 3 years.

Invisible Inc bring out their second compilation EP, this time vaguely focussing on the interzone between cosmic disco, balearic house, psychedelic “glam rock” and seedy, tribal, dungeon acid. Legion of Light spark up the A-side with an uplifting nod of respect to the house sound of Skandinavia reminiscent of Todd Terje, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas et al. Legion of Light are two veteran producers of tech-psychedelia who claim Lakeside Sunrise features the very same Roland Jupiter-8 synth that once belonged to their childhood heroes Hawkwind. A2 sees Glaswegian duo Delta Girls groove onwards with some rather nice dubby guitar-laced beach party vibesThe B-side opens with an obscure nugget that takes things further out there: the appropriately titled Inner Path To Outer Space, an 8-minute voyage through what sounds like innumerable synth patches, fuzz guitar, swinging bass and shuffling drums recorded live at Rimini Psych Festa in 1983 by prog rocker and virtuoso synthesist Claudio Cremonesi ably assisted by the ever-changing line-up of his Gruppo Cosmico. A real gem! After Cremonesi's sonic mastery the closing track can't possibly live up to expectations and even seems slightly out of place, musically. Half African, half gothic, it's a dark sleazy acid soundtrack to some form of sinister nocturnal perversions, judging by the title. Definitely for fans of weirder stuff....if you like the sound of TB-303s mixed with guitar feedback, tribal percussion, guttural growling (??) and muted trombones this one's for you.

The latest offering from Glasgow label Invisible Inc comes courtesy of Swedish psychrock / krautrock four-piece Tross and shows quite a departure for the label from their predominantly electronic releases so far. Veering towards a new territory that's distinctly more psychedelic than any of their previous releases the EP somehow manages to maintain a strong common musical thread that ties in with the “kosmische” leanings of previous ventures. Tross have developed a strong reputation for being a live experience well worth seeing on their home turf in Sweden and the songs on this EP capture that live energy and essence in a way that so many studio bands just can't seem to do. The tracks progress further and further out there as the musicians get into their groove, each player's talent clear to hear. At times deliberately monotonous, Tross have honed their skill at playing non-traditional song structures and creating with each song a forward hypnotic momentum that takes the listener into another space altogether. With the ”Coast To Coast” EP Tross give not just a nod of respect to their kraut / psych forefathers but display an originality unique to the band: the throbbing, pulsing basslines of tracks such as War Of Apples show that the music is as well geared towards the dancefloor as it is towards the 'heads' at home. Limited to only 300 vinyl copies. Getting plays from Andy Weatherall, Psychemagik, Soft Rocks, JD Twitch and more
