When the Forum was introduced by adidas in 1983, it was considered to be the most technological basketball shoe of its time, because the added heel cup and the now defunct hook and loop fastener resulted in best ankle protection. Now, more than a quarter-century later, the adidas Forum is still one of the most wanted retro shoes of the early 80s, although the X version lacks the signature X layer at side panels as well as the hook and loop fastener, plus it's equipped with a new sole construction.
