First LP by Swiss producer Anom Vitruv, entitled Anomie. Subtitled “Five Studies About Death,” Anomie is an intricate tapestry of field recordings, incidental sounds, and blackened, looming ambience that fluctuates between detachment and foreboding. At one point a clattering house piece rises from the mix, punctuating the record’s sensual, vaguely funereal exhaustion. Cover art comes from Brazilian artist Marcellvs L., whose minimalistic studies on stasis, time, and mirage complement Anomie’s intro/outrospective sense of limbo.
