Over the course of 2018-2019, to celebrate their upcoming tenth anniversary, Mello Music Group will be releasing special Audiophile Editions of their classic titles. The Mello Signature Series will be pressed on double LPs, limited to 300 copies of each title, on 180 gram black vinyl, with special gatefold packaging, including liner note stories from Mello about the creation of each title. "Apollo Brown first reached out to us with a project called Gas Mask with his group The Left in 2009. When we listened, it was clear he was the perfect new addition to the production team to sit alongside Oddisee. He had all the attributes we look for in a producer. However, it often takes a couple records to build enough of a fanbase to gain the momentum it needs to be ready to release your opus . So, we decided to hold Gas Mask in the vaults and create some original material to release under his solo name to build his audience. Little did we know how iconic this first project would become.

The Reset allowed Apollo to call on his Detroit-area friends like The Regiment, MarvWon, and Finale, while also allowing us to hear Apollo's production with Mello artists Oddisee, Dudley Perkins, yU, Sareem Poems, Kenn Starr and some other of our favorite outside the Mello camp like Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother, Grap Luva, and John Robinson.

Apollo’s now famous credo of “simplicity is genius” was immediately showcased on everything from the unapologetic boom-bap sound to the brilliantly simple artwork by Aniekan Udofia. The symbolism of that original artwork was perfect - a button starting a machine that would be Apollo Brown’s musical career and legacy.

From a label standpoint, there was no question after The Reset that Apollo Brown was a flagship artist to anchor the label alongside Oddisee. Apollo was a workhorse who loved creating music, took no shortcuts, and made everything he touched better. The clean precision with which Apollo crafted his production, combined with the fluid melodies he constructed, invited everyone to offer their best material. Now, eight years later, The Reset sits at the front of Apollo Brown’s storied catalog as the original harbinger of the legendary status the Detroit producer has reached."
