While most of its successors already got the reissue treatment, we had to wait patiently for the original Gel-Lyte. Originally introduced in 1987, this vintage colorway of the first Gel-Lyte generation is the latest offering of the ASICS SportStyle Gel-Lyte reissue series. Back then, ASICS SportStyle had a number for running freaks - 9.9. that turned out to be the Gel-Lyte's weight in ounces in a size 9 which was incredibly lightweight in its day. Like the following Gel-Lyte designs, this retro running shoe is equipped ASICS SportStyle's famous cushioning technology as well as a foamed Phylon midsole for added support.
