Blackwater Istanbul / Woodstock

Presenting Blackwater, a duo of geographical drifters whose outernational grooves draw on sounds snatched from their travels. A-side Istanbul began as a recording snared while hanging out of a speeding taxi, somewhere between Karaköy and Beyoğlu; the push of rain and traffic mixing with blared advertisements. B-side Woodstock builds around chimes sourced from the snowy hinterlands of Upstate New York. Melancholic melodies rubbing against hand drums; gradually unravelling, with a deep and dubby finish in the spirit of Wareika Hill, and patterns of ritualistic Haiti. "A montage of rusting industrial field recordings, invoking musty temples of sweet melancholia" The EP was mastered for vinyl by Pole at Scape studios, Berlin, and comes lovingly hand-packaged with an opaque insert and individually numbered photographs taken by the duo in either Woodstock or Istanbul, limited edition of 200, in printed house sleeve. Best played at 45rpm.
