Bruno Bavota - the young, prolific Italian composer whosemusic has often been labeled with earnest, adjective-ladendescriptors such as "disarmingly sincere" and "extraordinarilyemotional" - has experienced a self-imposed creativetransformation over the past few years. Where his earlyrecords were pristine, piano-driven expressions of universalthemes, his more recent works have found him in a place ofthorough meditation and self-examination. As Bavotaexplains, "While at the beginning of my music and career, Ifocused on crystal clear piano sounds, eventually all the timespent at the piano day after day changed my sense of thepiano itself. I started to see the piano like a living instrument."Get Lost is Bruno Bavota's first studio album since the 2016release of Out of the Blue helped thrust him into that peculiarworld of anonymous but significant success via high-volumestreaming playlists and high-profile TV commercials. Out ofthe Blue marked the beginning of Bavota's drift fromimmaculate, traditional piano music. If Get Lost isn't acomplete reinvention, it is at the very least a radical newdirection. Rather than obsess over the sound of the pianoitself, Bavota now explores the sounds around the piano - theresonance, the silence, and the acoustic ambience of theliving, breathing space in which the piano resides. He employsan array of outboard effects pedals and processors to not justcapture those sounds that are often overlooked, but tosample, loop, and reposition them as central figures in a story.
