Rapper Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, teams up with producer Ferrari Sheppard on a new album titled "December 99th."
Mos Def's album was supposed to drop on December 9 2016 but after a slight delay, it was released exclusively on TIDAL at the end of 2016. December 99th is an alternative hip hop collaborative album with Chicago producer Ferrari Sheppard. The two met in Ethiopia in 2013 and started working on art projects together. Sheppard, who was working as a journalist at the time, decided to pursue a career in music.
The project includes 10 ten tracks. The previously released "NAW," "Hymn," "Tall Trees," "Local Time," and "Seaside Panic," are on their self-titled debut album. As usual with Mos, the lyrics contain commentaries on the political and social atmosphere in the United States.
