Item Description

After successive collaborations with Mark Henning on prestigious labels the likes of Soma Quality Recordings or Trapez ltd., Den finally makes his return to Tokyo’s own op.disc imprint with this purposeful four tracker. “Moon in Van Nuys” revels in percussion and timbales tinged with vague latin feel, its swirling mood is sufficiently underpinned by tight-woven kick drums. “Dogs of the Bank” relies on more stripped grooves, as fragmented voice and ghostly note sets deep atmosphere. One of Den’s closest friend, Mojuba’s Stereociti takes up remix duties on “Moon in Van Nuys”, he proves his mastery production skills through this version. Stereociti superbly recalibrating original’s 4/4 structure as Detroit-styled electro with hints of gracefulness.
