Flo Morrissey and Matthew E White met at a Lee Hazlewood tribute concert where they covered “Some Velvet Morning”, Hazlewood’s baroque cowboy duet with Nancy Sinatra. The experience has prompted the Anglo-American duo to make a covers album, Gentlewoman, Ruby Man.

Songs range from Grease’s title track to Frank Ocean’s “Thinking Bout You” and icludes a lush version of Leonard Cohen’s “Suzanne”, all re-engineered by White’s mellow production style, a relaxed take on 1970s psychedelic rock and soul. The US singer-songwriter drapes himself over the music, voice soft and laid-back, while UK neo-folkie Morrissey proves a crystalline counterpart, high and clear.
