The Hamburg Spinners: Extraordinary

Welcome to the Hamburg of the Hamburg Spinners! Of course, this isn ot the boring giant village we know, but it rather looks something like this: Half Edgar Wallace film Soho, half Broadway/NYC 1961 for pedestrians. A comic city, but in black and white. Adults, so everyone over 21 wears a Macintosh raincoat and everyone smokes. Music comes from a restaurant on the harbour in Pinnasberg Street. Driving, swinging R&B. Heavy, but also melodic. Grouped around a pinball, (...) existentialists and students from the local art college. At the counter, members of the British occupation force, smoking their beloved senior service cigarettes. The smell of trouble! They are all here to hear a new beat. On the small stage with a mighty Hammond B 3: Carsten M. & The HG's aka DIE HAMBURG SPINNERS! Organ, guitar, bass and drums: The four don't need more to be cool and hot at the same time, Existentialists and Brits agree. In front of the stage, on the tiny dance floor, Eddie Constantine and Elke Sommer dance Twist, Strut, Shake and Blues.
Wouldn't that be the perfect setting for the Hamburg Spinners sound? But extraordinary does not only fit into our monochrome magic world. Carsten "Erobique" Meyer (Hammond B3), Dennis Rux (Git.), David Nesselhauf (bass) and Lucas Kochbeck (drums) managed the artistic act to score our still to be shot favorite film (but shot in New York in Spain and in the Bavaria studios, Italian-German co-production) as well as the perfect background for an exciting game rummycup in their own four walls. Friends and girlfriends of the Remo Four, Ennio Morricone, Jimmy Smith and Stax-Records will put on the record during the final night of a crackling Friday night, taking a finger-sniffing look in the mirror and thinking, "Well, I look good!"

And should one or the other Hamburg Spinners song run in the discotheque later: See you out on the floor!
At dawn, Eddie and Elke leave the bar. Due to the fog, the Köhlbrandt Bridge, which is still under construction, can be seen in a sketchy way. From the fish market, a young man walks with a piglet on a dog leash. A freighter of the Hamburg-Süd from Baltimore enters the port, on board among other things: a box with the latest 7" from distant America. A drunken night owl leans against a lantern and thinks: "Is this a scorpion in my boot? Make the change!"
File under Memphis/Mod/Morricone/Meyer

Live and analog recorded in the YeahYeahYeah studios in, you guessed it, Hamburg.
Produced by Dennis Rux
