Andy Butler has brought back Hercules and Love Affair for another album to follow up 2011's Blue Songs. The album features vocals from Gustaph, John Grant, Rouge Mary, and Krystle Warren. It was co-produced by Ha-Ze Factory and Mark Pistel. In a statement about the album, Butler said, “I wanted nasty basslines, stormy, bleary-eyed sounds, fiery, rough, tough and ragged old school house productions that sounded almost techno. I didn’t want polite, I wanted aggressive.”
