Born in Chicago, LaVern Baker got her start in the vibrant south side blues scene of the post-war era, before moving on to New York City to record for the famed Atlantic Records, the home of the biggest stars in R&B of the time. This collection of singles is one of her finest sets of recordings and absolutely essential pre-soul R&B from one of the masters. Reissued on 180 gram LP + download card with 2 bonus tracks.
