Item Description

The Tape Project was recorded between 2010 and 2012. The concept of this was to make songs that were entirely free of the computer (from making sounds all the way to the final mix). This started a new way of working and capturing a bit more freedom and allowing to focus on arrangement more with ears instead eyes. All tracks were produced with a small eurorack modular synthesizer with analog step sequencers in it. This system worked well with a TR-808 and other older synths, then every synth was routed to the mixing console and then finally recorded to cassette tape. The tape support has been choosen for the added sound of the compression and the added extra noise seemed to gel nicely with the compositions. Spanning from ambient to deep techno with few dub elements, the album consists of seven full lenght original takes recorded on tapes. No edits, no post-production, no computer.
