Mela The Moony Sessions

There's a certain organic effortlessness in the way of delivering her very own sound - MELA, a singer and
studied cellist hailing from Vienna/Austria, is quite the experienced pro in the field classical chamber music
and now goes for the best of both worlds: a mini album full of airy pop minimalisms.
"The Moony Sessions" are the refined results of this labour of love of Mela Marie Spaemann aka MELA - a
project she started back in 2013. At first mainly based on whatever her loop station would be happy to trigger
in a live situation, allowing her to add layers of vocals & instruments to her liking.
And right there it was: an intriguing amalgamation of truly special singer/songwriter moments, brought to life
by smart, yet decently spare arrangements - an original and inspired style that radiates richness and maturity
with every single note.
Asked for her main influences, MELA smiles. "Apart from the maybe obvious individuals from the classical
field in terms of cello, voices like the one of Lauryn Hill knock me off my feet. I also really like Jamie Cullum
- i think his crossbreed of jazz & pop in quite genious. Last but not least I am really impressed by Sting.
He's open to so many influences from all sides and still always maintains his original sound."
No doubt: MELA is on her best way to reach eye level with her main inspirations soon… the five precious
originals resulting from "The Moony Sessions" are perfect proof!
