Indeed, at the height of the pop-disco craze in the late '70s Krivit was sometimes criticized as being “too funky” for incorporating tunes from the likes of War and James Brown in his sets, going against the grain of the stiff and sanitized fare that filled the playlists of mainstream jocks. Ironically, it was exactly this funky flavor that allowed his style to survive and thrive, a direct throwback to the vibes that originally gave birth to disco and, even as tempos accelerated and styles changed, continue to be the beating heart beneath the most powerful dancefloor movers.

This upcoming box set from Most Excellent Unlimited taps into that primal sound with ten funky sureshots from Mr. K's crates, each edited by the master for maximum effect. From sultry mood-setters to breakbeat headnodders to bouncy proto-disco, Krivit has laid out a powerful palette that stands as both a treasure trove of digger's delights and a collection of perfect party-starters. Spread over five seven-inches and packaged in a handsome bespoke box, this extremely limited package will be available May 2018 just delayed post Record Store Day.
