Item Description
This legendary 7”, no stranger
to record hunters hungry
for powerful, unmistakably
70s grooves, contains two
Made in France funk classics.
Two, very different,
examples of what the best
studio musicians could produce
during torrid sessions
destined to provide the material
for obscure library music
records, shiny disco projects
or unlikely exploitation 7 inches.
Resonance, in the same way
as Arpadys or The Peppers
(who co-signed the double
album the 7” comes from), is
one of those phantom groups
bringing together visionary
producers, gifted arrangers,
wandering composers and
errant session men on the
wildest projects. Here, it’s
Pierre Bachelet and Mat Camison
behind the Bacson
alias and authors of these 2
insane compositions. First,
OK Chicago, clearly the bravado
track. A 2’36 minute
high speed funk chase destroying
everything in its path.
A kind of perfect theme tune
to an imaginary police series
or cult blaxploitation film,
stuffed with wah-wah guitars,
booming bass, furious clavinet
and crazy sirens. It’s hard
to believe such an American
sounding track was produced
in France. The B side maintains
pace for the length of a
short trip in the Yellow Train.
Hypnotic minimalism, emaciated
disco and cosmic phaser
push the groove towards
special visions and abstract
beats cult Italian DJ Daniel
Baldelli might covet. Essential!
