The Anti era continues! Rihanna has finally released a new single, ‘Work’ to promote her highly-anticipated 8th studio album, Anti. The track features a verse from Drake and includes some hypnotic-inducing lyrics such as ‘If you had a twin / I would still choose you’ as though Rihanna is supposed to be flattered. However, Drake’s harmonies compliment Rihanna’s pleasantly. ‘Work’ marks the third collaboration between the pair following 2010’s tropical bop ‘What’s My Name’ and 2012’s club-ready ‘Take Care’ and establishes the same slick, laidback vibe evident in both. This is largely due to the work of the song’s producers PARTYNEXTDOOR and Boi 1da, who is also responsible for Drake’s ‘0 to 100 / The Catch Up’. The production provides a minimalist, downbeat bassline along with groovy elements of dancehall and dub.
