The dense claustrophobic fog and monolithic synth notes of “Including time for thought” suggest something foreboding; that it is already too late. Too late for what though?
With feet rooted and the tide approaching, “In Mud” ponders aloud, amidst the fat rock-disco beat, staccato synth jabs and swirling sequences on our fate and whether we only have ourselves to blame. “Whirled” compresses into 8 minutes an industrial heartbeat pulsing, whilst gasping for air atop the smothering prickly noise, almost overwhelming, but thankfully released by a timely power loop with one foot on the monitor and access to an oxygen mask.
“Missed” reminisces on people & times past and the future missed, to a sympathetic stroke of calming pads, muted horn and arpeggio shower. “Poison Strings” breakbeat and electro roll order to dance, but trench deep bass and multi fuzzed up layers aim to provide a wall of defence against the harshness of modern times, for those just wanting to live their lives.
“Fault” – It’s there in plain sight, embodied by a looped distorted howl and plaintive keys; our pain and frustration - obvious and true. “Ghostwalk” Dungeon bass and a bright warm arpeggio make peace, whilst synth clouds mesh and tangle before shapeshifting into other (worldly) dimensions.
“Dark Island” – Cherished memories of those most loved, recent travels and travails, the fleetingness of those moments. A burbling bass, melancholy accordion and wistful organ lament their passing, our passing and what now awaits.
