A culmination of efforts by Snakepiss and Chambray, Toil is about: the recycling of culture; working long hours for little pay; using barely-functioning, secondhand equipment; and creating what you can with diminishing resources. The sound of Toil –shuffling rhythms, distorted samples, and digital drum machines – is equally indebted to J Dilla and Angelo Badalamenti.
