Side A is a Sunny classic, “Put Me In Jail” is easily one of his most famous original
tunes. Sunny croons on, professing his guilt in coming up short on his promises to his
beloved over the unmistakable Sunliners band backdrop. This tune has gone on to
become famous amongst both oldies fans and lowriders.
Side B is an obscure album cut lifted from the “Young, Gifted, and Brown” album,
“Open Up Your Love Door”. Another perfect combination of romantic pleading and
organ heavy production leading it’s way into a surprising horn arrangement and
climactic breakdown. Sunny asks his love to allow him into her life and give their love
a chance.
