The Colors team of Guilhem Monin and Stephane Ghencia follow up the beast ‘Mamajunk’ with an extremely strong 4 track ep by Thomas Roland. The lead cut ‘Hurluberlu’ flows with a smooth panache and the use of a great sample which has received support by Kerri Chandler.’Bubble Gum’ struts away before the vocal lifts the song to higher places with devastating effects. The strip back approach of ‘House Call’ with the constant percussive groove alongside a cut of a chant of ‘house’ proves to be a winner too. ‘House Call (NY meet Chicago mix)’ brings up the rear and provides a respectful take on of the sound of Twilo and the Sound Factory Bar in the 90s. This is a great debut by a rising Parisian producer destined for greater things.
